Funny story. This vet who runs a Equine clinic in Texas had to do colic surgery on one of Toby Keith”s horses. He told his daughters at home about the surgery and his 8 year old daughter said she assumed that one of Toby’s horses would end up in the vet’s surgery because he gives his horses beer to drink. They then had to explain to her that was just a song — Toby does not actually give his horses beer to drink. She didn’t believe her dad. It was in the song and the horse colicked — so there!

THis was in one of my Vet Journals. By the way Toby lives about 5 miles away from me in Norman OK. He has a beautiful ranch. No I am not his vet.

I would be pretty incredulous if Scientific American or Discover magazine did a review too.

Well, if she didn’t have that cover on her cd, this would be a good magazine to review ***’s album.

“The fact that people read the Weekly World News doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t make it true.
    Those magazines are tabloids.”

And if you had read my statement you would have known that I do agree somewhat with what you said however RCA wanted them to review her CD so they sent them a copy and they filed a favorable review doesn’t necessarily theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re not fit to review a music CD just that they liked it and their reviews can be used for promotion.

Ok that smiley is really annoying.

ShabbyChic……… sorry, it was the snark that threw me :rolleyes_ee:

Dog Doc………are the ice storms over in OK?

BTW, loved the Toby Keith/horse story – cute kid. Hope the horse got okay. We lost one to colic one time – it was heartbreaking. He rolled, twisted an intestine before the vet got here. We took turns walking him all night, but it was too late. He had to put him down. :(

So I finally heard the full length Katharine McPhee CD and I try not to base a review on 30second clips or on the first listen (heck Porgy and Bess was considered a flop with forgettable music the first time around.)

Is it my favorite American Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s first release no but I think that ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a catchy current sounding disc with some attractive songs on it (I believe to be a fan of a particular Idol who have to be prepared to be in the long haul no matter what.)

I think Home, Ordinary World, and Better Off Alone are good songs that are given passionate deliveries by Katharine and played to her breathy strengths (hell Olivia Newton John made a career out of singing in breath.) I would love to see Ordinary World performed simply one day and think that it could be a hit separate from the disc. As for the other songs some are interesting some are Top 40 songs and some have the proverbial hook driven type of music that is very popular that someone like Katharine who so many people were worried wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t appeal to the mass public needed.

Ice storms are over and I am back in Portland.

Off to bed — I’ve got a cold and probably should have skipped AI tonight and gone straight to bed. G’night!

“carolina – thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s right. I suspect fans of Norah Jones have higher musical demands than what Kat has to offer on à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Open Shoesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ LOL!

Those who buy Norah will not be buying Kat.”

Actually that I would agree with I’m a Kat fan and I think Norah Jones is very overrated and my musical tastes run everywhere from Beth Nielsen Champman, Joni Mitchell, Heart, Harold Arlen, the music of Stephen Sondhiem, classical, rock, and many more so go figure.

Niece and her boyfriend were looking at some of ***’s infamous chair photos on the computer tonight . After they looked at them she asked him if he thought *** was pretty and he said ” I never noticed her face !” Somehow I don’t think that the males buying this cd are buying it for her music. :doh_tb:

Lisa – Phil Stacey is from Shawnee, OK? Holy shit, I currently live in Shawnee. I’ve been so out of touch with everything around here lately. I must watch Tivo since I haven’t seen tonight’s show yet. Thanks for the info.!

  • Lisa

Carla your welcome! :smile_wp: FOX23 ran it earlier tonight.

Here is a link to a video I believe is the same story they ran on Melinda (can’t tell since I am on dialup, lol). They talked about Phil at the end of the story on tv. Phil is a US Navy, Petty Officer 3rd Class, and is stationed right now in Florida.
