Remember that time Prince surprised us ALL when he strolled out onto the American Idol stage for a surprise performance?
The legendary, groundbreaking musical artist and pop culture icon Prince died on Thursday at the age of 57. There have been memorials and remembrances posted on websites and social media across the internet. As a website that revels in singing and dancing competitions, we’re going to do our part and celebrate the late singer’s performance in 2006 on the American Idol season 5 finale.

Reality Singing Stars Pay Tribute to Prince
Near the end of the telecast, Prince appeared out of nowhere with two backup singers to perform “Lolita”, and “Satisfied” from the album he was promoting at the time, 3121. Who would say no to singing a couple of new songs in front of 30+ million viewers? Most awesomely, as soon as Prince sang the last note, he turned on his heel with a toss of his head and got out of there. It was a true star turn. I remember being absolutely enthralled at the time
Host Ryan Seacrest tweeted today that Prince “walked thru the back door..sang his song..got in his car..and left. He was that powerful.” Yup. RIP Prince.
