The Voice 5 – Top 5 Semi Final Results Live Blog and VIDEOS

James Wolpert and Cole Vosbury eliminated from The Voice
Tessanne Chin, Jacquie Lee and Will Champlin move on to the Final!

What an unpredictable season of The Voice this has been! Cole Vosbury seemed destined for the final, if not an outright win, but he and Blake Shelton were SHUT OUT of the final! The Voice contestants have truly been dependent on week by week performances, rather than strong fan bases, in order to advance.

Have an off week? Another contestant outperforms you? BUH BYE! Surely, Matthew Schuler found that out, when he began to falter, fairly late in the competition. And that’s where Cole Vosbury found himself this week. Guess what dude. This was not the week to do your usual thing! It was time to step it up. Complacency did him in.

In the meantime, Will Champlin and Tessanne Chin just kept on singing, SINGING HARD, right into a place in the finals. They always gave it their all, and didn’t allow setbacks to mess with their heads. Unlike James Wolpert, who lost the plot after a bottom 2 showing.

At this point, Jacquie Lee has been the most consistently performing contestant, nearly always sitting near the top of iTunes. But does that make her a shoe in to win? Nope. It all depends on next week’s performances.

So there you have it. Not only is Blake Shelton NOT getting his 4th win. He’ll be sidelined during the finals! I can’t wait to read the post-results interviews. How does that humble pie taste there, Blake. Ha.

The big alum reunion that took place tonight was awesome. I love seeing contestants come back and perform their post show music. Everyone was good in their own way tonight.  Cassadee Pope’s doing her thing with pop country. Danielle Bradbery has a ton of potential, but she’s still not mature enough to connect to the music.  The Swon Brothers seem to have a decent single on their hands. It will be interesting to see what Arista does with them.  But my personal fav was Michelle Chamuel. I really like her new pop single.

It’s The Voice 5 Top 5 Results Show. Tonight, 5 will become 3 all based on YOUR votes! No twitter insta-save this week.

It’s old home week here at The Voice. Daniel Bradbery, Michelle Chamuel, The Swon Brothers and Cassadee Pope ALL return to perform!

Download free music at iTunes from The Voice alums like Cassadee Pope, Jamar Rogers, Michelle Chamuel, Nicholas David and Terry McDermot at this link.

The Top 5 take the stage with Carson Daly at the top of the show. Everyone looks so fancy! Recap first. Aw. Tessanne made Adam’s mommy cry. Carson braggy-brags about the strong showing The Voice contestants made on the charts. Keep downloading your favs iTunes. They will count as votes toward the final.

The Swon Brothers came in 3rd last season. They take the stage first to perform their single, “Later On.” This sound suitably commercial. Except that it’s not about trucks. Or ducks. After, they talk about their new deal with Arista. More Swoncerts are coming. Check out a full stream of “Later On” HERE.

Carson congratulates Christina Aguilera on her #1 hit, “Say Something” but of course, does not mention the cover, by X Factor contestants, Alex & Sierra, that surpassed her version for a day or two (eta: No, I don’t mean Carson should have literally said something. I’m being a smart ass).

Blake says the only reason that Adam has 3 left in the competition, is because he let him. “SHUT UP,” says Adam. He thanks him sarcastically. Blake has every confidence that his guy, Cole Vosbury, will advance to the finals.

Now it’s time for The Voice Holiday Confessional: 12 days of Christmas Style.  Don’t worry, you’ll get a video.

RESULTS!!!!

America voted. The name of the first artist LEAVING THE COMPETITION IS James Wolpert from Team Adam Not a surprise. He is not necessarily the contestant with the lowest votes. But I think he probably was. James and Adam hug before he leaves the stage.

Next, Michelle Chamuel takes the stage to perform her new single, “Go Down Singing.” This is pretty good. I wish she was more ambitious. She has the potential to be a pop star. Michelle was my fav last season. Check out michellechamuel.com for more info! She’s still pals with her mentor, Usher. New album out in 2014.  Listen to studio audio of her song “Go Down Singing” HERE.

Oh look. Jamar Rogers is in the audience! He looks good.

More results!

The Top 4 take the stage again. The first artist America voted into the finals is Tessanne Chin!

Twitter questions from the Skybox. Next week the Top 3 will sing with their coaches.

Next Season 3 winner, Cassadee Pope, takes the stage with her new single, “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart.” They present Cassadee with a gold (500K downloads) single plaque for “Wasting All These Tears.” So, finally The Voice gets to hand out a certification to one of their alums.

Now, Daniel Bradbery sings “Never Like This” from her self-titled debut album. Well. That was…uhm…nice.

The remaining 3 contestants take the stage. It’s time to announce the name of the next artist moving on to the finals! And Jacquie Lee is moving on to the finals! That leaves Will Champlin and Cole Vosbury. I knew it would come down to these two.

Here comes Danielle’s new promo for the Olympics. Oh SHE’S IN IT. I didn’t realize. Shots of her performing are cut with Olympic winter scenes.

The final decision! Will it be Will or Cole?  The last finalist is….Will Champlin!  Cole Vosbury and Blake Shelton SHUT OUT!!!!!!

Moving on to the Final

  • Tessanne Chin
  • Jacquie Lee
  • Will Champlin
