Video Premiere – Carrie Underwood’s “Two Black Cadillacs”!

Carrie Underwood premieres the video for her current country hit “Two Black Cadillacs.” Written by Carrie, Hillary Lindsey and Josh Kear, the song tells the dark tale of a wife and a mistress taking revenge on the man who was cheating on them both. “Two Black Cadillacs” sits at #11 on the country airplay charts this week, and is likely to make its move into the t10 in the next couple of weeks.

In behind the scenes footage viewable at her fanclub site, Carrie teases that her inspiration for the video was a classic Stephen King tale, and that she even got permission from the author himself to incorporate his story into the video! The video is directed by P.R. Brown, whom Carrie sought out because he has directed dark videos before and is a fellow fan of horror films.

What do you think of the video? Do you recognize the Stephen King story that inspired the treatment? Last but not least, who saw this kind of song and video coming from Carrie when she won Idol back in 2005?

Love it! “Christine” is one of my personal favorites from King.

Another hit by Carrie! I’m proud of how much progress you have made Carrie since your Idol days! Keep the hits coming!

This song is annoying. Cheating is bad, but it’s also really common, and not something anyone deserves to die for. It’s one of her better looking videos, though.

Awesome! Glad they added the “Christine” factor to make it a bit more interesting and unexpected!

I beg to differ. It’s a dramatic, fantastic take on a common storyline, and I think it was done beautifully. She’s obviously not suggesting violence as the answer to cheating spouses (on the topic of music videos with questionable moral content, this wouldn’t even make the list, IHMO).

    Well done Carrie!

queen carrie does it again. i was hoping she would sing this on the grammys, but i doubt she’d repeat it cause of the AMA’s

It’s a story. Not every lyric has to be taken seriously

Absolutely Stunning!! Possibly her best yet for me.
However, my only problem is that the lyrics says “it was the first and the last time they saw eachother face to face” (meaning the wife and the mistress, and they were meeting at his grave), but the video shows that they meet when Carrie ran into him with the car in the alleyway. Am I looking at this wrong or?

I never watched “Christine” so I don’t quite get it.  Was Carrie possessed by the car or something?

  • FinalFantasy13

I’m going to be honest and say I didn’t understand the ending but I’ve never heard of Christine..  Kind of makes me want to watch the movie now.

    Christine is a possessed car.

I LOVE this video. Although I have to say I was really confused first time watching it. Second time though, I was really impressed, her best video yet. It’s not just a music video, it’s like a mini-movie.

So….the car did it?  Didn’t the car possess the owner in the movie?

  • mmmtx

Since she left the car keys on the casket at the gravesite, maybe the man owned the car!  I think “Christine” gets rid of all her owners from what I remember about the movie.

Love the video.  Love the song.  Carrie has another big hit on her hands!

Or the car was a third jealous lover and convinced Carrie and the other chick to off him.  Or at the very least lure him to the alley way so the car can finish the job.

Carrie herself “wanted” the car to be “possessed” . She want “him” to serve them both, hehe. That’s why Carrie “passed” “him” the key…i guess…
    Love this video!

Like the vibe of the vid – reminds me a little of Amy’s brilliant “Back to Black.”

I don’t know what “Christine” is about, but from my understanding of the video:

The man and Carrie met in the dark alley. His wife knew all about it and was sitting in the car. When she turned the lights on and the man realized it was his wife sitting in the car, Carrie moved away from him (as planned) and his wife ran him over. Then, the wife gave Carrie (lover) the car keys. Carrie brought the repaired car to the funeral. That’s why we see the car turn from wrecked to good as new. I think both women then switch the cars.

Or something like that. Both women made a plan and executed it, the whole “the car is alive and has it’s own mind” idea isn’t that serious to me.

I think there were two cars in the alley. You can see that when the man is backing away from one car, there’s another car at the other corner.

That CAR was mad……he was cheating on her with both women!!!!   Nice take on the movie, and interesting to twist and turn the video to keep the discussion going!!!!

Did you notice at the very beginning it shows Carrie in one car and the other car is shown driving in the cemetary but it doesn’t look like anyone is driving it. You have to look really fast to see it between the gravestones. It’s at the 19 second mark. And when it shows his wife’s ring in a car she’s in the backseat. (the lock on the door is more forward on the right)

If I remember right, Christine was the car that needed no driver.  Had a mind of its own lol.  This is my fav so far on Carrie’s album.  I thought her performance of this on Countrys Superstars was fabulous.

I saw the twist coming, but the production quality is quite good for a music video. Well done.
