The new single from rapper, Tyga featuring Season 6 Idol, Chris Richardson, just goes to show you that it’s possible for an Idol alum to languish for a couple of years before finding radio success.

The tune, “Far Away”, currently climbing the charts, features Chris singing the chorus. The music video debuted on BET’s 106 & Park last night. If you missed it, you can watch it right here, below.

Wow, good for him. I think it proves that although Idol may be good for opening doors, but it still takes a lot of hard work and some luck to have radio success.

I didn’t watch all of S6, I sort of tuned in towards the end, but I remember liking him. I wonder if he and Blake every keep in touch?

Chris sounds and looks great! Good for him! Hope this is his big breakthrough.
Don’t like the theme of this video. Angsty teens should love it though!

It’s nice to see Chris having success. That’s a good quality video.

Nice work. Chris has the Tedder thing happening in this song/video that is so successful – good for him. He was my favorite in Season 6 and he has certainly grown as an artist. I hope he sees more success as he breaks into the “big” time post Idol.

Ditto that. I remember Season 6 around these parts fondly. Those were fun times. Ol’ Roundhead was one of my favorites that year (although he wasn’t generally popular around here LOL). I still find him adorable :).

I like the video, and Chris looks good. I was a casual viewer during S6, but he was one of my favorites. It’s nice to see his hard work paying off after a few years.

BTW, I did some digging this morning and I think that Chris is a co-writer of the song.

Here is who Harry Fox as as the writers:
JASON BLAINE, DANE OBUCHOWSKI, JESS JACKSON, MICHAEL STEVENSON (aka Tyga), CHRIS RICHARDSON

Good for Chris Richardson. His voice sounds very good in that song and works. Its always nice to see those we don’t hear much about finally get something accomplished with their careers. As long as they are getting something done in front or behind the scene.

A few months ago I came across an article that one of my couple favorites in season 6 Jared Cotter was one of the co-writers of the big international hit “Down” by Jay Sean. I really liked the song, and didn’t even know he was part of it and won awards. And he has been hosting some teen talent show too. I haven’t thought much about him since the show, but I always knew he’d keep pushing on even though he didnt make idol top 12. His father was in a disco band “Chic” so he knows a bit about trying hard to stay in the game.

I’ve been following this song for a while, I really like it a lot. Chris sounds fantastic on it; I really hope this exposure opens more doors for him. In fact, he sounds better than I remember him on the show, ha.

Interesting he’s got a songwriting credit, that’s great. I’ve been curious what the connection was between Tyga & Chris, how they met & decided to collaborate. I don’t think I’ve come across that info yet.

I think Chris has been writing and producing with the Cash Money Artists label down in Miami, Florida for awhile now. This seems to be his first chance to be featured, instead of being behind the scenes.
