The Walking Dead and American Horror Story all premiered last week. I find it interesting that The Wednesday edition of X Factor scored higher than The Voice. The 4 Way Challenge phase of the X Factor competition debuted on that day, while the Blind Auditions ended with a weak slate (and a clip show that didn’t even make the list.
That’ Glee’s Cory Monteith tribute placed 2nd is not surprise. Glee’s social engagement is high in any case. The ratings have gone down, but the worldwide core of fans is very loyal and intense.
The Jimmy Kimmel episode on the list feature Kanye West, who was on the show to settle the two’s heavily publicized feud.
According to Zap to it, the new Nielsen Twitter Ratings, “measure both the volume of tweets about a given show and the number of Twitter users who see those tweets. Measurement happens three hours before, during and three hours after a show airs. Original tweets and retweets carry the same weight.”
The rating does not measure how many people on twitter are watching the show. It quantifies reach and engagement. Deirdre Bannon, VP of product for SocialGuide (which teamed up with Nielsen to collect the Twitter ratings data), told Zap2it: “Impressions are recorded each time a tweet about a TV show reaches a Twitter user, regardless of whether that user is watching that TV show.”
