But on the night that he is eliminated, Clive Davis is going to step out of the wings (where he always seems to be quietly hovering) and take the young man in hand. After all, Britney Spears couldn't carry a tune in a bushel basket and she has made a pot full of money for herself and others. And MONEY is what it is all about as far as Idol (and Clive Davis) is concerned, as I may have mentioned a few hundred times. Just getting my reference points straight so I can determine the "winner" this year regardless of who gets the most votes, who is likely to do well as a touring act, who is considered a true entertainer, who is considered the most talented performer/singer, who has a high likability factor, you know, reasons why someone is supposed to win this show. Silly me! What did I think I was voting for??? Also. Just asking.... What is the point of this show again? I think I may have lost that bit of pertinent info along the way here it seems, between Idol 1 and Idol 6. So “winning” equals record sales. Nothing more. Nothing less.
