Ratings are in from TVByTheNumbers
Both the Dancing with the Stars recap and the results show were lower than the previous week with adults 18-49, down 0.2 and 0.4 to 1.8 and 2.7 adults 18-49 ratings respectively.
The Voice’s first Tuesday elimination show of the season debuted to a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating, 22% lower than Monday’s two-hour telecast. That’s down 3% from the first results show, but comparisons are tough since it aired on a different schedule last year. But last night’s telecast was down a 54% from its first Monday telecast this season (that came on the heels of the huge post-Super Bowl episode the night before).
Last week’s American Idol results show for a comparison: American Idol 4.4 13 15.87. Wow. Idol is kinda kicking The Voice’s butt, right there.
I’m not surprised Idol’s rating are higher or that there was a big drop between The Voice performance and results show. I think The Voice attracts viewers who enjoy the performances and coach interaction. But, the show is not designed to create deep attachments to the contestants. I’m still having a hard time keeping them all straight in my mind. And to be honest, I really did not care who went home last night.
Glee will be back next week. It will be interesting to see how the 7 week hiatus affected the show’s numbers.
