Tuesday Ratings: New Girl Beats America’s Got Talent Finale

The FOX New Girl premiere beat the America’s Got Talent finale in the 9 pm half hour. AGT won the rest, and was up compared to last week.  The Million Second Quiz is limping to it’s conclusion at the end of this week. It came in 4th.

On NBC, The Million Second Quiz earned a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating down 27 percent from last week’s 1.5. America’s Got Talent garnered a 2.4 among adults 18-49 up 4 percent from last week’s 2.3, which aired fifteen minutes late.

    I am surprised Dads did as well as it did after all the bad press and it just being bad all around IMO. It & Brooklyn Nine-Nine are two new shows that won’t make it to my dvr.

    I still wish people wouid realize you can still buy things from advertisers if youre over 49. AGT had 2x the # of viewers that New Girl had

    They don’t care that you buy things. They care that you aren’t likely to switch brands.

    Marketing is all about brand loyalty vs brand flexibility, and businesses want to win new customers to their brands. The older you are, the less likely you are to switch brands. ‘You’ being the demographic, statistical, plural you, not you as a single individual.

    This is why sponsors seek out the 18-24 demo first, the 18-35 demo second, and the 18-49 demo last. They already know their customer base of 49+ is a lock and they don’t try to influence them any more, therefore they don’t care about them seeing their commercials, therefore they don’t purchase ad spots on shows that are loaded with the 49+ people.
