Just a quick correction: last night wasn’t Glee’s season finale. That’s next week’s graduation episode.

Some industry people pointed out that Fox didn’t talk a lot about Glee at Monday’s Upfronts.  I think that’s a sign that they realize that the show is in a lot of trouble, and that next season could be the final one.

  • Kitwana

Glee killed itself with the stunt casting, preachy episodes and cast of “high school” students who look closer to 30 than 20. The crummy plots also didn’t help. I hope it disappears next year along with that other over-hyped show Smash.

I don’t know.  Fox scheduled Glee after X-Factor, so that at least suggests they are trying to give it a lift so that it can have another season.  If they are going to cancel it, why give that spot to Glee instead of a new show that could do with a bit of help?

I didn’t say that they plan on canceling it, just that they know that the show is in trouble.  They knew that even with the Voice’s issues, issues that Fox made a point to talk about during their presentation, that Glee, a show that should be more established than The Voice, isn’t strong enough to hold on to its audience, if it has to go head to head versus The Voice.

they need to get away from ncis

“next season could be the final one.” = Fox may cancel it.

Of course, you are correct in that Fox probably knew Glee could be in some trouble next season, hence  giving it the spot after X-Factor and Idol.  And that also means that Fox has no intention of cancelling the show, so the speculation about next season could be the final one is unwarranted.  Unless the ratings sink so badly even when scheduled after X-Factor and Idol that Fox has no choice but to cancel it,  the show will get another season after the next one.

Glee has run its course and I don’t see how it can bring back in the alienated audience. They have tried to boost it with a post Super Bowl run and pulling out all the stops.

Whether you like the facts or not, the show has become too focused on homosexuality. While I am not against it, there is still a great deal of America that is. You have two same sex couples and endless story lines about it.  Yes, it is brave to an extent, but it is also becoming too much of the show’s focus.

I know plenty of parents who won’t let their children watch the show because of that core theme. However, I encourage my children to watch it, because I think tolerance is important. Everyone is different and that’s what makes us all beautiful.

Have you watched Glee lately? The main focus is on the het couple, Finn and Rachel. They suck face on a weekly basis, and even that hasn’t saved glee. The gay couples are pretty much relegated to the background at this point. Hardly in anyone’s face.

JMHO, but I believe responsible tv networks shouldn’t cater their programming to the types of parents who inforce bigotry and prejudices onto their children.

They will be away from it next season when Glee moves to Thursday night.  NCIS is definitely the elephant in the room from 8-9 on Tuesday night.

I knew AGT would show some good ratings. It’s going to become a show that people talk about the next day.

Glee is just getting tired. And Smash has worse ratings but is on NBC where that qualifies as a hit. ;)

  • Axxxel

Yeah, a pity for those people who may be turned off by “Kurt’s story” in season 2 and therefore not seeing that Season 3 has put much much more emphasis on the straight relationships.

Then again, there might be other factors playing… some people just are not into musicals.. (lots of Broadway numbers in the beginning of Season 3) some people just think that musicals are gay… some people feel that the characters are not underdogs anymore and therefore not that relatable… some people were just turned off by the inconsistent storylines, whether it involves gay or straight characters…
