Part of Trent Harmon’s prize package for winning the fifteenth and final season of American Idol was the opportunity to contribute a song to the Ice Age: Collision Course soundtrack.
Trent recorded the bonus track for the digital version shortly after winning American Idol in April. The song, a cover of Gary Wright’s 1975 hit “Dream Weaver,” will be available this Friday.
“Working with the producer of the song, Ross Copperman, was super fun,” Trent told People magazine. “We listened to the original ‘Dream Weaver’ a couple of times, but didn’t want to over listen to it – so we left room for our own creativity. As soon as I heard the final arrangement, I knew it was going to be a fun day. I am so happy with how it turned out.”
Collision Course is the fifth film in the Ice Age franchise and a sequel to 2012’s Ice Age: Continental Drift. The soundtrack for Ice Age: Collision Course is available the same day the film opens in the U.S.: July 22.
