Blake is the only thing standing between a black vs. half black half white Finale for the first time ever in AI History!!!! It would guarantee a person of some color winning. However, I fear that Blake will rob Melinda or Jordin of the spot in the final 2. Are you serious? You can’t be serious. Race has nothing to do with Idol success. For one, I am Black and I only vote for Blake. I like the AI ladies, but what do they have to offer that is not already on the market? Nothing!! I personally wanted Stephanie to win. I think she could have been very very successful. Now its up to Blake. Blake has this Black girl’s vote.

Please tell me this is sarcasm. You think a judge should show racial favoritism? If you are serious, may God stop you from ever judging anything of substance. You don’t have the moral character.

SO MUCH word to this, MJ. I really enjoy the multiple performance weeks, and I regret the loss of one.

On the other hand – a respectful disagreement about Blake’s performance. Still sounded like a bland song with beatboxing to me, no matter how skillfully the beatboxing was integrated. However – I’m glad it seems to have been such a hit for him, as I’m hoping to see Blake in the finale. Blake v. Melinda or Jordin would be far more interesting than Melinda v. Jordin.

Personally, I’m a little tired of Jordin. I haven’t seen any real growth from her since British Week. But it really does look as if she could coast to victory at this point even with subpar performances.

Lakisha was looser and more relaxed than she’s been in weeks and weeks. She didn’t try to imitate another singer’s signature song. For the first time, she was able to take a song and put her own stamp on it. I still think she’s going home since her votes from last week were probably low. But I also think she has accomplished what she set out to do. She’ll get a recording contract. And with some actual marketing, I think she’s going to have a fine career for herself and her daughter.

I think the whole “being brave to take a risk like that” is a bit overdone though. Yeah, it was something of a risk, but in my opinion not doing it would have been a bigger risk. Bon Jovi songs (especially the ones that you are likely to hear done on Idol) tend toward the big voice power rock ballads. And Blake just doesn’t have that big of a voice, but 4 of the remaining 6 contestants do. If he had just done the song straight, he would have been trying to compete directly in that style and he would have looked weak in comparison. I definitely give him props for doing the smart thing and changing it up. As Simon said, probably some loved and some hated it, but everyone remembered it.

Blake is INCREDIBLE. There have been some great vocal performances throughout idol, but I don’t think there’s ever been a performance-performance quite so good before. He’s incredibly dynamic.

I like Jordin, but I didn’t like her this week. She shouldn’t have picked Living on a Prayer.

Lakisha was great and I loved that she showed a little sass too. She needed to show some personality for sure.

Melinda was fabulous. I usually find her boring as heck, but last night she was great and I was very entertained.

Chris was just ok, and I’d be fine seeing him go home this week.
