According to Top Idol, who has a super-reliable source out in Los Angeles, The theme for next week’s Top 5 is Jazz Standards…

ETA: and the actual theme is even more specific… From the FOX press release:

Next week, the Top 5 finalists à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ Kris Allen, Matt Giraud, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ take the stage again Tuesday, April 28 (8:00-9:01 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) to perform standards made famous by members of the original Rat Pack, a group of legendary performers that included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

More songs for really really really old people! And that song list will be a short one. No word on whether the kids will switch to a two-song format…

Plus, the freaking Powers That Be do the right thing and invite Season 5 winner, Taylor Hicks back to the Idol stage for Wednesday’s results show to perform his next single, the most excellent “Seven Mile Breakdown”   from his new, independently produced album, The Distance.

Can’t edit for some reason, but I did find a Sammy Davis Jr. cover of Feeling Good. I think if you search hard enough you can find a Rat Pack cover for pretty much every song known to man.

Danny: My Way (heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not going to change up the song and it will allow him to yell the song as he enjoys so much)

Laughing at this image. “I Did It My Way.” I don’t think it would do him any favors to sing this song.

Some possible songs I can see them doing:

    Sammy Davis Jr:

    I’ve Gotta Be Me
    The Candy Man
What Kind of Fool Am I
    If I Loved You
    If I Ruled the World
    That Old Black Magic

Well I have to agree that if it’s limited to the rat pack, it will be hard to find songs. It’s hard to sing Sinatra, or Dean Martin. I wish it would just be standards but we’ll see. If they are clever and know their stuff, they will find the right song (and with a little bit of luck).

Any word that Obama may be preempting AI Wednesday night? Some blogs are reporting this. Please tell me no!

    Call me crazy… But…
Even though it’s already had 3 memorable performances…
Allison could slow it down and hit it out of the park with “Over the Rainbow” (If that goes with the theme)
Otherwise, will someone PLEASE tell me while Snorkey Gokey hasn’t left my freaking TV yet!
(P.S.) Kris should do great, as usual
    KRIS, ADAM, ALLISON— FINAL 3!!!

(P.S.S.) Please comment on my FIRST post!

Yep I agree but I think they got it all wrong season 2. Clay won that season and i cant prove it but no way Ruben won, imo of course.

Does anyone remember the AI forum had 3,200,000 on board at midnight? Remember how the numbers were posted on the right upper top? It was a crazy time. Later we find out from Nigel that Clay was number one in votes every single week from the Wild Card to the TOP 3. It was the closest TPTB came to telling us who really won – it was Clay, IMO.

OK, hicksaholic it looks like the President will address the nation at 8:00 PM, and the Results Show is at 9:00 PM. This is so much better than Tuesday addresses. I think Obama’s daughters clued him in on this issue!

I wonder if AI realizes how excited many of us are to see Taylor Hicks?
