Stephen Fowler – American Idol Season 8 Top 36 Contestant

Stephen Fowler – New York City – 25 – Beachwood, OH – H’Wood “Superwoman” – H’wood “Time of My Life” – H’wood “Chair” – Semi-Final Week 1 – AI Hollywood Video – AI Top 36 Video -  Ãƒâ€š  Ãƒâ€š   Stephen’s been married for 6 years and has two sons. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been singing all his life, and loves singing gospel and soul. We finally heard Stephen sing during the Hollywood Round, he’s got an effortless nu-soul vibe that makes him one to watch. But, he forgot his words during the solo round, walking off stage in frustration.   I’m not sure Stephen can pull out from the pack to make the Top12.

    This guy has a terrific voice and I’ll surprised if he doesn’t make it pretty far into the competition. Soul / gospel music just isn’t my thing.

    Love his voice. His “Superwoman” in Hollywood was almost effortless…beautiful.

    I’d bet he got started singing in church, hence the soul/gospel preference. We’ll see how he stretches his boundaries. That can be difficult when you’re so used to singing certain genres.

    I love this guy too, but don’t expect to see him in the top 12. Why you ask? Because now we are voting people IN, so it’s critical that you sing well and have a memorable/well-developed backstory. Only three people from each group of 12 will be part of the top 12. If we were voting people out — yes, definitely he would make the top 12.

    Stephen’s only chance of making the top 12 is wild card — and that’s in hopes that his “dawg” really, really loved his Stevie Wonder song.

    If people vote because of a back story this competition is forever lost! I’m voting for BEST performance when it comes to the top 36. I don’t listen to a CD because the artist has the best back story…I listen because the singer and the song stirs my soul!

    I liked Stephen’s voice…hope to hear more from him!

    He’s from BEACHWOOD, OHIO?! Now I DEFINITELY have to root for him! lol I live about 15 minutes from Beachwood. I do all of my shopping there, since Cleveland malls suck.

    Initially impressive but at this stage of the competition so was Brandon Rogers, who Steven looks and sounds a bit like. I’m hoping he can remain impressive because I think the show is probably looking for another African American male as a chosen one.

    I was impressed with Stephen and can’t wait to see what he does in his next appearance which “might” be with the piano?

    So far I think he has the best voice in the competition, certainly among the males.

    Will be sad if this new format keeps him from the Top 12, because I have a feeling if people got to see him for a few weeks he would definitely be a contender to win the whole thing.
