I can try to be mature and say that they’d make a cute couple and he can date whomever he wants, but I’m not going to lie; it’s a little sad. HOWEVER, we need him to write some good songs for his album, and we all know you can’t write without experience…and he needs some fresh “experience,” right? So let them go out…let them break up (cause you know it’s not going to last)…and we’ll get some really good break-up angry/sad songs instead of songs about rainbows. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Aww. I will wait for the videos to be put up so I can see this for myself before I get myself worked up over Kim. Earlier I said I had no qualms about Cookie and Kim being together, but now I realize I was lying. I’d have no qualms if they were just friends, or if they ended up not having too much of an interest in each other from a couple of harmless dates. Now I’m starting to get worried. Sigh. I knew I was going to end up not liking this.

I wondered why Cook said he would like to duet with anyone but Jason. Was that an inside joke? If so, then please, Cookie, share it with his fans. Otherwise, it comes off as a slam.

For Cook’s fans, don’t be fretting about KC. She has never been able to sustain a relationship for very long. And, really, that question was awkward and embarrassing for David. Very personal, and, no one’s business.

It was so easy for Michael to answer the question after asking 3 times….I don’t know what the problem was….he was performing at David Foster’s Charity….Geez.

Dang it your fast MJ! Archie seem quiet and bored, lol. I guess he was so done with the interview when Larry asked him all the questions last week or he was too polite to jump in and talk over everyone. It sounded like a debate. I LMAO about the “Jason smoking weed question!” and the whole “Mormon win a lot of reality show thing”, Archie’s like not this one, that boy is too funny. Michael was hilarious, what a goof. The girls seem bitter about not getting the votes. Hey, the guys were just better this year. Come on, look at the winners in the past, 4 girls and 3 guys. Ruben, Taylor and now David Cook. Cook will definitely be the most successful. As far as female you had Kelly, Carrie, Tasia, and Jordin, and we all know that Kelly and Carrie are the torchbearers and they are phenomenal. The girls shouldn’t complain. It was fun to watch overall and that was gross when Larry handed Cook the suspenders…lol….ewwww…..OK I am sure Cook is going to treasure it and frame it…lmao!

David A. is pretty funny, just as Cook claimed in another video. The more I see that kid, the more I like him. Loved his response to King about Mormons always winning…”well not this one”. LOLOL.

Felt sorry for Cook, having to take the Kimberly Caldwell question like that. Sheesh, let the guy have a little privacy.

What I really didn’t like is when LK requested viewers to call in their favourite AI contestant on a poll. C’mon, we’re past that now, why do that? They’re a team, at least for the tour.

They’re a good group, maybe the best yet? Cook and Michal Johns are definately the alpha males. Johns is witty but needs to know when to step back I think. He always seems to be “on”.

Jason is coming out stronger each time in interviews and I hope the dopey questions will end soon. I’d love to hear more serious interviews about their individual music.

He hadn’t even had his lousy “date” with Kim C. when they did this interview. They could’ve decided they were soulmates (although how you would do that with the older lady and the kid there, I dunno) OR had absolutely nothing to say to each other for a very dreary couple of hours for all we know and for all HE knew at the time this was taped.

I was an Elliott fan and it seriously split and annoyed the fans AND Elliott himself when they got all bent out of shape over his love life, so I refuse to go there with another Idol. He’s an adult — he gets to pick his own dates.

To be blunt, Cook probably hasn’t gotten laid since January, so any action at this point has got to be good for his blood pressure and his general outlook.

I think it’s probably best to let him breathe and have some fun.

i think you have to remember johns was in a different studio. he probably did not mean to talk over them- his voice just appeared to be louder because he was on the speaker?

Actually the poll doesn’t compare the top 10 against each other. It compares all the winners of past AI – Kelly C, Ruben S, …., Jordin Sparks, David Cook.

I LOVED the Jason-smoking-weed question. I’ve gained so much more respect for that kid after these interviews; he acts his age, and that’s perfect.

Archie doesn’t say much because he probably is afraid he can’t come up with witty responses fast enough. I’m not bashing him; he’s perfectly normal. I’d rather him stay quiet instead of making an ass out of himself.

Elliott was the saint of S5 until his love life got a bit “messy.”His gf was called a bunch of bad names and was labeled a user. Guess what, she’s still there almost 3 years later. Nobody here has real information about Cook’s love life and it really isn’t anybody’s business either. No one knows have important KC is to him and it’s a little wrong to label her just a piece of ass.

It’s probably easier for Cook and his fans if he keeps his private life very private.

I think Cook and Castro must have a fun friendship. Besides saying he’d like to duet with anyone but Castro, he also said on Friday’s show not to let “Castro pick the key” when they sang Freedom. Its definitely got to be some inside joke because both times Jason was laughing along with him.

Interesting show. A bit misleading because we can tell by their clothes that it was all recorded on Friday, yet they kept making references to it being Monday. Oookay.

Did anyone catch when the e-mail asked if Cook and Archie would do a duet together, Cook was saying he got positive feedback from it and Archie was like, “really?” and then said something about him (Cook) just singing over him during the song.

The way everyone laughed, it seemed to be a joke. In the friday show, Cook cracked that Jason wasn’t allowed to pick the key of the song they sang as a group at the end of LKL. I’d guess it’s another riff on that whole theme.

Archie is a hoot! That kid is funny without even trying! As funny Michael is, it seems that he’s trying too hard at times. Archie just says the most random hilarious things and doesn’t even realize he’s being funny. Such a cute kid!

HA. you do realize that MJ wasn’t even shown onscreen like 80% of the show, and even more, NONE of the email questions were for him? If anyone had all the attention it was the DC and rightfully so. DC pretty much finished off everyones answers and MJ was only there to make a couple of witty, snarky comments, and was a TOTAL riot and saved us viewers from suffering from another generic LKL American Idol session. Ha and do you realize that sometimes what is a total riot to you comes off as trying too hard and obnoxious to others? Matter of preference.

I suspect that is true too. Especially when he said “Larry!”. It was as if he was saying “Don’t you remember that the nice PR lady said I can’t discuss why I’m in Vegas because 19Alphabet doesn’t profit from it?”

So, Cookie is supposed to be articulate. He’s supposed to be one who is capable of measuring his words carefully. Either that’s not true or he’s King of the Jellyfishes. First, he slams Archie for doing a repeat seconds before the kid has to sing (ZAP!) and then he mentions how before they show they talked about how they should both go out and have fun and both were winners “There’s no way you can go wrong as long as you don’t mess up the words” (ZAP! ZAP!). And then he doesn’t want to duet with Jason. Hmmmm…..Live interviews are tough. LOL.

Oh, I see, he went out with her because he talked about it (or Larry King reminded him of it) on Larry King Live (truth: that’s a good excuse I can have before I break my heart on this).

Well first off, this wasn’t “live”, it was obviously recorded immediately after last Friday’s show. So anyone who sent in a question over the weekend had no chance of their question being asked. I think I preferred it last Friday when they interviewed them in small groups. With all 9 of them and MJ on the feed trying to chime in at the same time, the answers sometimes got lost in all the noise and laughter.

I rolled my eyes along with Jason when he had to address the “vote vote” issue again for the 100th time. Cool that Cook jumped in in his defense.

Thought it was hilarious when the girls started whining about how the viewers all vote for the guys, and the guys started mocking them. Get over it, the guys were better this year.

I don’t see all the fuss over Cook going on a date with Kimberly. It’s just one date! Maybe it will lead to more, maybe not. He seems so grounded and unmaterialistic, I find it doubtful that this is the start of a long term relationship, but let them figure that out.

I think Jason and Brooke will be singing a duet on the tour based on Jason’s response to the “Who do you want to duet with?” question. Yea! Lots of us here were hoping for this! Interesting that both Carly and MJ would like to duet with Annie Lennox.

Cook once again comes off as the consummate interveiwee and perfect statesman. Archie is pure adorableness. MJ was a bit much at times, but he must be hilarious in person for all the Idols to love him so much; sounds like he was always the ice-breaker. I almost forgot Syesha was there, she was so quiet!

With respect to romance between idols, I believe there’s some rumors going on. Syesha kept on saying there’s a rumor and lies or something. But her remarks were quickly dismissed.
I am interested what Syesha was intending to say.

For anyone who’s interested in the hard truth: Crook is with Caldwell for booty. There’s nothing else to it. He’s got what they call ”wanting to get laid after you’ve been in a pressure cooker for 5 months of your life”.

I’d like to think that Cook is being snarky with his comments, but, he’s been doing a little bit too much of the ZAPPY put downs to the others. I’d like to know the inside joke about Jason not picking the key, and, him not wanting to do a duet with him. It makes it sound, since he won AI, that Jason isn’t good enough to even breathe the same air as him.

Someone commented that Cook’s reference to Jason not wanting to duet with him, could be the fact that he was the only one who got a solo on the finale. The others had to do duets. So, maybe I’m being too sensitive.

I thought the “no duet with Jason” reference was just all in fun between buddies. Cook stood up for Jason with regards to the “is Jason lazy?” the “vote vote” and the “pot smoking” during the course of both interviews, so there is no bad blood between the two. Forgot one thing, LK asked a question about the Idols getting paid, and they said yes, they get union wages and they also get a portion of iTunes sales. I didn’t know about the iTunes money, cool that they get something (probably peanuts) for that work. Cook and Castro must have pocketed a nice sum for those downloads.

I was joking earlier, but Cook does need to be careful about revealing inside jokes to the outside world without clarifying. It does not take much for the press to twist something.

How easy would it be for TMZ to run a screaming Idol “Feuding Idols?” – “Our insider [somebody watching LK in the break room] reports that Idol winner David Cook doesn’t want to duet with Idol loser Jason Castro. Industry insiders [a bunch of us TMZ staffers trying to stir up crap] speculate that it may be because Cook feels Castro diminished the show by not taking the competition seriously. Others feel it’s because Cook thinks Castro doesn’t have enough talent to share the stage with him. We got no comment from Idol producers on this subject”.

All of what is in the above article is factually correct, but it makes neither Cook nor Castro look good. Unfortunately, Idol winners must carefully weigh their words because people will be putting them under a microscope.

Plus, even without TMZ, people are mystified by what he really meant. It’s probably just an inside joke, but these things can cause people to get upset. I’m not saying he has to go all Bull Durham, but he should probably be a little careful about the inside jokes.

Besides, from the way that the others described it, they are singing in boot order so it would seem that Jason is dueting with Brooke and Syesha and Cook is dueting with Archie.

Good that everybody had a chance to speak and no one made career damaging statements, did they??

MJ was very funny, LOL more than once and loved the Hernandez comment because it ws bang on.

Just not so sure that it is all kisses and hugs as they let on but then again they admitted they were more like family than friends.

I really am all for the celebs to keep what they want private, and I get irritate when interviewers push the limits… But in this case… Cookie had it coming because of the way he asked Kim out…

You’re right about him asking her out in public, so it is all fair game. Actually, it’s all fair game once you enter the public eye at all. Asking somebody about their love life isn’t really a big deal, imo.

I totally believe that Cook thinks Jason is inexperienced and a little immature because there is no doubt about it, Jason is just that compared to Cook , but not like him, no way have I felt that???. I believe Cook can see Jasons talent and has said so and even if he doesnt think Jason is the best, I dont see how anyone can not like the guy. I cant wait to see what some more life experience and lessons do to hone that talent.

I think that’s an inside joke between Cook and Jason… in the earlier interviews on Larry King Cook had said something about not letting Jason pick they key that they all sang in. Jason has a large range vocally, so I’m thinking Jason probably always picks a key that Cook can’t sing in or something like that. They all seem to get along fine.

This seems like a really great group. Cookie talked a lot, but I can only imagine the atmosphere if MJ would have physically been there. He’s looney. LOL

Syesha did want to hint at a rumor about a couple on the show. The only one I heard of was DC and KLC. That was a huge rumor that was immediately obliterated when she revealed her engagement. So….

All in all, I love their chemistry. The tour should be great.

Not a first time that DC putting Jason down. Last week: “Castro, don’t pick a key.” WTF is that? No matter how funny is your inside joke, this is national TV and there are tons of Jason fans who’d rather listen to Jason than you duet with anybody.

Love seeing DC explain once and once again how undeserving he is for the title after Archie knocked him down the previous night.

DC did talk a lot, but I noticed that he would stop when someone else started talking (coherently for once), because he seems to be a pretty nice guy. I think he’s just chatty. I married someone very chatty, so I can spot the chatterboxes from a mile away.

Also, I’m pretty sure that JC and DC are pretty good friends and DC stuck up for him like three times, but it seemed obvious to me that A) It was an inside joke and B) that people were going to be upset about it. A slip in your usual very smart moves, Cook.

Since you’ve now admitted to looking on the internets, if you’re trolling this blog, DC, I have a few things to say:

A) I love you and need record news ASAP, or my head will explode. Next time you’re asked a lame question that you’ve answered three hundred times already, can you say, “Thanks for asking about the record, Regis. Cook does try to elaborate on the comment he made about not doing a duet with Jason, but, I couldn’t make out everything he said. It sounded something like, I can’t sing the kind of songs you do. If someone else can make it out, please post. The others all started talking, which drowned him out.

And, so what if Cook wants to date Kim C? He’s quite capable of making his own decisions, and, it isn’t like they’re going to get married. The fact that he asked her out on cable tv, shows me he wants to stop some of the crazed women out there asking HIM out. Remember the call from the woman in PA? Regardless of being only 25, I still think a guy likes to do the asking. JMO, of course.

OK, kiddos, I know I’m adding fuel to the fantasy fire (and what are TV celebs but fantasy figures anyway?) . But for all of you who worry about the Kimberly Cadwell crush (and I think it’s a crush, from a guy who hasn’t had time for a date in a year, and is thrilled to be around starlets like many a red-blooded American boy), here’s a few interesting tidbits from an interview in March 2008 with Caldwell by a blogger for realityshack.com:

“Kimberly Caldwell is one of the early successes of American Idol, yet her success is measured a little differently. She doesn’t have a number one record out there, but she does have a successful television career, being seen

Cook stood up and defended Castro at least two times during the hour: once about the “Don’t vote, vote” thing, and again when Larry asked about weed. If Cook didn’t like Castro, he wouldn’t have done that. To me, the part where he says he’d do a duet with everyone but Castro was just some joking around between friend.

There were rumors about Daughtry cheating during season 5. So, maybe she is just a convenient date when someone needs one. Sort of an AI escort service? EWWW, that just didn’t sound right, even to me.

I was thinking of times, when I am with my friends, we have one or two friends who so bashful and cute and when you tease them a little you get a great and fun reaction. They are so endearing and you do it out of love for them, you could just squeeze them they are so adorable. That is what I see with the teasing of Jason. In one interview with them all right after the show, MJ has the mike and the interviewer says to MJ, hand the mike to one of the girls so MJ hands it to Jason. Jason takes it good naturedly (spelling?) and then Amanda says she is selling Jasons dreads on ebay, she gets scissors and pretends to cut his hair, they all tease him so much he is about to jump off the couch. So, Carly hugs him and they all stop. That is ALL I see as far as the Cook duet statement. David C gets more awesome with all the interviews and I just love them all together like that

But Cook walked into this one a bit. He did ask her out publicly, on cameraà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ If he didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t want it to be publicized, he should have asked her out privatelyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

Fair point but I cringe to see the emphasis go there instead of the music. Plus, I just don’t go ‘there’ (personal relationship questions) with people unless they open the door to that kind of conversation. I wouldn’t ask the married contestants about their marriages either.

I’d like to see them each get a ‘grace period’ so they can get their bearings (and some PR coaching) in the land of the famous, the infamous, and tabloids.

Thanks for pointing out that M.Johns was on a live feed which effected his commentary. I hadn’t thought about that and just thought he was talking over the others. I stand corrected!

I really, really wish Cook had not asked her out on camera because now it keeps coming up and every thread degenerates and turns to crap. It’s total hell trying to wade through all this Cook/Kim stuff.

at first i thought he asked her out as a joke, then i saw the tmz thing and was shocked. to me kimberly c is the season 2 contestant that had a threesome with corey clark (yuck yuck yuck) and treynce. simon mentions it in his book (which i bought on sale) but i don’t think by name. so i hope cook knows what he is getting into. lol

and wow i totally didn’t think dc was putting jc down. he was just teasing. wow.

I don’t quite know how anyone would think Cook was serious about not wanting to duet with Jason. I guess if Cook were serious then that would mean that no one else likes Jason either because you would have thought one of them would step up to defend Jason. Instead, they were all laughing. Somehow when people laugh, I can’t help but think someone told a joke.

As for Cook asking Kim out on television, I guess that will probably just be a lesson learned. He’s not exactly experienced at being famous. Personally, I loved it. How often do you ever get to see that with any celebrity? And Kim’s reaction was priceless. A genuine moment.

Someone mentioned Kristy Lee Cook and David Cook liking each other. I think that is true. Even though she’s engaged now, I think there’s been an attraction between them. On LK last night I noticed that when KLC started answering a question, both Davids turned to look at her. DA turned his head back toward LK after a couple of seconds, but DC had a long, lingering look at her. I played it back in slow motion several times and he definitely looked at her longer than necessary. I’ve also noticed that in a lot of the group pictures they are standing beside each other. In one picture her hand was on DC’s arm. Just some observations. Engagements have been broken before.

Didn’t Kim Caldwell date J.D. Adams from Season 2 for a while? I seem to remember them going out together during their season.

I enjoyed watching the banter on both shows, the banter between all the contestants made me chuckle on several occasions. An interesting observation my husband made is that they talked over each other quite a lot but when David Cook spoke, everyone listened! They all interview pretty well, but he is exceptional … even when asked personal questions that you know he’d rather not touch he still provides a tactful and eloquent response (I’m thinking both the question about Adam on Friday and the question about Kimberly yesterday).

I don’t usually weigh in on the personal lives of celebs or psuedo-celebs as I think they should be afforded the same privacy as anyone else, but as it’s been potent in this thread I’ll throw up a modicom of perpsective: DC said that KC had been so complementary toward him that he asked her to dinner. I think we all have friends who ask us out to dinner when we do something nice for them so I wouldn’t read a whole lot into that by itself. TMZ, that ever reliable tabloid, has a video of them leaving a restaurant with two other people – ok, still doesn’t prove anything, even with DC’s response to the “will we be seeing you together again” question – what is he supposed to say, he’s hardly the kind of guy who’s going to say “well, no” – he keeps it private so he gives the only response he can. Same with his reponse on Larry King, he was polite and tactful without giving much away – his “drawn-out process” remark could very well have been a dig at the tabloid press who will keep this going (and us bloggers who will keep dissecting), or, as it isn’t a phrase usually associated with happy relationships, perhaps he meant if it takes long enough to set up the dinner he won’t have to go. Point is, the tabloids, and as a result we the fans, could be reading way too much into a simple dinner request (see this drawn out dissection as an example). Enjoying his music, that’s all he wants from his fans, not an obsession with his private life.

Jason and DC. My impression is they are good friends. DC was absolutely laughing out loud when JC was doing an impression of DC’s camera face. DC loved it. David has come to JC’s defense so many times on various things. They must have an inside joke on singing together. DC said in one of the interviews don’t let JC pick the key for the song at the end an interview. I think they have a lot of respect for each other. JC was rooting for DC to win on one interview and on another he said there was no surprise he won.

I love them both!!!

The role of KLC in this evolving soap opera continues to be a mystery, and methinks there is a lot stronger character at play here that what we see on the surface.
