THE X FACTOR: L-R: Demi Lovato, Britney Spears and Simon Cowell on the set of THE X FACTOR airing on FOX. CR: Ray Mickshaw / FOX.

A reporter from TV Guide attended Day 2 of the X Factor audition in Austin TX on Friday. Britney Spears was a crowd favorite, but it turns out that Demi Lovato is not only a tough judge, but comedic as well. Britney managed to stay in her seat for all of the 2nd day acts:

All of the judges took turns introducing the contestants. Spears was arguably a crowd favorite, drawing sporadic “I love you’s” and only a few shouts of disapproval. Lovato, on the other hand, one of the harsher and more comedic judges, drew many shouts of anger as she turned down more and more contestants.

Spears was considerably more involved on Friday, compared to her Thursday judging, telling one act that they sounded like The Chipmunks and should stick to modeling. She was soft spoken with others, simply saying they were “sweet.” At times, she seemed unsure what to do, almost standing up for an act that got her clapping and dancing in her seat; she became more comfortable as the taping continued. Her fiancé, Jason Trawick, stayed close the entire time, escorting her to and from the judges’ table during breaks. (And unlike Thursday’s taping, Spears stayed through the nearly four-hour show.)

Lovato and Spears disagreed on some contestants. After Lovato told one soulful singer that she was distracted by her lack of clothing, Spears said she understands what it’s like to be judged for what you wear and to “rock whatever you want.”

I don’t have any respect for Brittney.  But Demi I hope is a star!

I can see ratings of The X-Factor raising like 50% this year just because people will be expecting the almost inevitable Britney’s meltdown.

She annoys me to no end.  But maybe you are right.

It seems like Demi might be the right choice after all! Rooting for that girl! Hope she does well!

Missed X-Factor last season, but I’ll certainly tune it to see if it’s worth my time this fall. Love Simon. Totally interested to see what the new judges bring to the table. I was never particularly interested in Britney, and I don’t know the first thing about Demi. But, Simon’s one smart cookie, as Britney’s pee breaks have national-headline potential.

So, Britney is the new Paula Abdul and Demi is…the new Simon?

I have respect for BOTH Britney and Demi, hope they BOTH do well. They’ve done nothing to me and they’re both trying to improve themselves and are determined women. Whom have had struggles in their lives and fought to overcome them and succeed in life.

Every person that has went to these tapings have raved over Demi. They say she’s a natural and her banter with Simon isn’t forced.

Honestly, dumping Paula and Nicole was the best thing for this show. Seems like this new panel has a LOT more chemistry. I’m so happy. :D

It’s funny. I had a feeling Demi would be a good judge. And with Britney filling the Paula role, they might be hope for The X Factor yet!

“Sang TillThereWasYou at the X-Factor audition. They asked me who inspired me cause they liked it, I said two magic words @HaleyReinhart <3 "

Here was a report by a local Fox station where they interview the judges (sans Britney). Demi and Simon are just too cute. I love that Demi owns the fact that her age is what she’s bringing to the table. She’s bringing youth and a perspective from a younger demographic. :D

Yeah, any words on the host(s) yet?

And now I’m looking forward to X Factor!

I was not tempted in any way to watch last year.  However, I will say having watched “Sonny with a Chance” when Demi was the star, this year I am tempted.  I actually believe the girl is near comedic genius.  Miss her on my tv (my daughter was a tween when the show was on:))….

I’m still very unsure about Brittany Spears, I think she’s come along way, but don’t think she is still that mentally stable.

Demi sounds like she has alot of personality and charisma.  I’m glad she’s a firm judge as well.  It sounds like she is going to be great.

Demi is really relishing her role as judge! I can’t wait to see what she brings to the show. X-Factor is really an exciting show. I indeed loved the first season, although I know many didn’t. Rachel, Josh, Astro, Melanie, were among the contestants I liked. It was great TV, IMO. Yes, the changes to the judges table was necessary. Demi seems to be a great addition. I guess we have to wait and see what Britney brings, but there is no denying she has major star power.

Someone posted a video of a One Direction-esque boyband auditioning: http://youtu.be/lovlVDmEBLE

Ooh thanks for the vid! I so agree with Demi, they shouldn’t had sang that 1D’s song. They sounded too much alike. But with some work I think they can be really, really good. Grenade wasn’t half bad.

Agree with this. I hope Demi is a tough and awesome judge. Unlike Nicole.

I think I’m gonna love Demi, she’s keeping it real.
