The Voice’s Josh Kaufman Set to Release Single May 27

Good news for Josh Kaufman fans. The Voice season 6 winner is dropping a single this week.

The Indianapolis native won season 6 of The Voice back in spring 2014, went on tour with some of his fellow The Voice singers during the summer, starred in the Broadway revival of Pippin the following fall, and then virtually disappeared from public life, save for the local appearance here and there.

Part of the prize package for The Voice winners is a Universal Republic recording contract. But Josh didn’t release so much as a single with the label after his win.  Albums were also not forthcoming from season 2 winner, Jermaine Paul and Season 7’s Craig Wayne Boyd.  It’s a situation that had The Voice coach Adam Levine complaining bitterly about how the record company screws up the winners’ post show careers.

But finally, FINALLY, the soulful singer is releasing a new song independently. As The Voice 10 crowns a new winner, Josh has announced his forthcoming single, “Truth Be Told,” which will be available for download Friday May 27.

Here’s the announcement.

And a little sneak peek of what’s to come.

Also, Josh will be on hand Sunday May 29 to sing “(Back Home Again in) Indiana” during pre-race festivities for the 2016 Indianapolis 500, so watch out for that!
