    Aw that’s cute.

Cool. I love these judges….they make the show interesting. Now all they need now are memorable contestants. I’m still rooting for Jamar so far…I can’t remember anyone else.

    Now that was cool. :)

  • Kirsten

Good heavens! Now the judges are even muscling in on the auditions?

Why do they even have singers trying out if it’s all about the judges? Why don’t we just replace them with Pokémon?

    “I choose you Pikachu!”

It would probably make the battle rounds more interesting.

Then, just to keep the singing show fans, they can have the judges duet with a Pokémon every once in a while. Adam Levine and Squirtle. Christina with Jigglypuff. Blake could pair with a Geodude. And naturally, who else would Cee Lo duet with than Meowth (although I guess Mew and MewTwo might want to get in the action too)?

    I love this show

The girl wanted Xtina to sing with her. I don’t see what’s the problem.

COOL!! I love the spontaneity of it :)

I can’t help it, I am loving Christina this year. This is fun, cool and exciting! I’m loving it!

Are you Cknott that used to post on the American Idol website? Question for you if you are…..does that site no longer have a forum? Everytime I go there it says its under construction…but you would think it would be ready to go by now???
I love this show too…so entertaining

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cathy-Knott/563794735 Cathy Knott

Yes I did post on that site.  I haven’t really been there for about 2 years now.  Found this site and haven’t looked back.  So I don’t know what is happening with it.

It is a different show than Idol.  One of the big differences is that the mentors have personality not like the judges on AI who add nothing to the show.  According to the ratings I guess the public is agreeing with me.  They have picked up around 6 to 8 million new viewers this year.

    Loved it!

Christina might be a hot mess as far as her life goes, but that girl can SANG!

Sorry for the double-post. Still getting used to new board stuff.

Kirsten I agree with pretty much everything you’ve said about The Voice basically being a televised vanity exercise for the coaches. But, I didn’t have a problem with this one. The Voice’s central appeal is the idea that these unknowns get reinforcement by being picked by successful musicians who in some cases may be their idols or just somebody they greatly admire. It’s like Lauren inviting Steven to sing with her at her Idol audition.

I actually enjoyed this little clip, there was a good vibe between Christina and that girl and they sounded really good trading lines. That girl who auditioned is the 1st voice that really made me pay attention so far on this season of The Voice. There’s been a few others I’ve liked but I can’t remember a single one of them right now. But then again The Voice’s ratings don’t depend on me remembering any of them because it’s all about the judges and then the judges/celeb mentors in the battle rounds.

    That having been said:

Kirsten: Then, just to keep the singing show fans, they can have the judges duet with a Pokémon every once in a while. Adam Levine and Squirtle. Christina with Jigglypuff. I don’t see what’s the problem.

I didn’t say there was a problem. I’m just exploring the exciting new options for the format. Since the contestants are irrelevant, they can adjust this to just about any other tiring genre and refresh it.

Getting tired of watching people sit around the fire and complain on Survivor? – Refresh: Slowly make the show all about the trials and tribulations of Jeff and his crew of challenge creators.

Can’t stand to watch another contestant dither before bungie jumping on The Amazing Race – Refesh: Slowly make the show all about the camera dudes who manage to race around Bangkok for 7 hours on foot without passing out from heat exhaustion. And they do it all while running backwards!

Fed up with contestants who can’t make a beef Wellington or risotto on all those cooking shows? Refresh: just have a show where Gordon screams at his fellow professional cooks while the student cooks observe and think  “Why would I want to do this for a career?”

Can’t differentiate between a plié and a moonwalk on SYTYCD – Refresh: DWTS!

Me? I’d totally watch a show about the TAR camera men and Phil.

I think that they can keep things even fresher on The Voice by creating special editions of very specific genres. Since it’s two seasons a year, they could have an opera version or a children’s music version. Or how about, Christmas music for one of the fall versions?

None of these artists stand a chance at commercial success because this is the Top Model/Bachelor/Big Brother version of a singing show, so why feel the need to tie the show down to commercial genres?

    It isn’t a problem. It’s an opportunity!

They sure wouldn’t because Jlo can’t sing unless she has her lip syncing tape going on behind her. Jlo would never do something spontaneous like this because her weak vocals would be exposed. Jlo isn’t remotely in the same league as Christina in the vocal department. Jlo and Paula are more in the same category.

It’s like Lauren inviting Steven to sing with her at her Idol audition.

LOL. Poor Lauren got roasted from here to kingdom come for pulling that little stunt.

    But, yes, different shows.

That girl who auditioned is the 1st voice that really made me pay
attention so far on this season of The Voice. There’s been a few others
I’ve liked but I can’t remember a single one of them right now.

Which is why it was smart of both her and Lauren to do it. A month or so from now, when people get to start voting on The Voice, they may remember this girl and vote for her.

It is important to stand out, especially for Voice contestants who go for long periods of time without being seen.

That’s the Christina I like. She can really sing, and that was a fun number. That girl is good too. I can’t see J-Lo doing that because, well, she’s not that good.

Kirsten: LOL. Poor Lauren got roasted from here to kingdom come for pulling that little stunt.

True, true. But, I feel like that was a reaction to the pimpage and maybe Lauren had a little bit of a likability problem at the time because she seemed overly forward especially for a 16 year old? This clip seemed more organic the way it came together.

I say seemed because I also believe The Voice is more manipulated than it appears as far as who winds up on whose teams, who gets pitted against each other in battle rounds, and stuff like that. It’s possible this was a set up piece too.

Harlow22: They sure wouldn’t because Jlo can’t sing unless she has her lip syncing tape going on behind her. Jlo would never do something spontaneous like this because her weak vocals would be exposed.

I know J Lo’s music/performances are lip synched but I’ve been impressed when I’ve heard her sing along or harmonize with some of the auditions, and I was surprised she actually sounded kind of good for that second when she sang “Hee-jun” to the tune of “Hey Jude”. I think she can sing but she’s got a small voice. Probably better musicality than I’d realized before. Not to say she’s a great singer by any means but I used to think she was in the “can’t sing” camp and I’m not anymore.

This is my problem with this show; the judges continue to outshine the contestants. American Idol still does a much better job at trying to actually find a star.

  • Nele621

I agree. Lauren tried to act flirty and intimate with the guys. Like calling Ryan “Peaches”, and seeming to having a special bond with Ryan that others didn’t.

I agree with Kirsten in respects to the show as far as who is really reaping the benefits here and we all know it’s the judges.

Oh and this deserves the blue ribbon comment of the day.

The ratings were around 12 million last year on average and so far this year it’s around 16 million. So 4 million.

I agree, the judges on all these shows have fallen into a gold mine of riches lately. No wonder so many are trying to get on X Factor. These shows seem like the latest, greatest way to give your career a jumpstart.

There is another group who is reaping the benefits of all these new singing competitions…the viewers! The additions have given the viewing public more options and given us a little more diversity with the types of contestants we are watching.
I’ve enjoyed seeing contestants that wouldn’t have a shot at making it on AI!

Yes!  On the first season of Idol the final four, I think, performed a medley of Paula’s songs.  They walked down to the table and tried to get her to join them on stage and sing along with them.  No way that was happening, she would have been the worst singer of the bunch!

Since last year, I have been trying to turn the Voice into a serious talent search like idol in my head, and it was not working for me.  I’m a slow learner, but now I see that this is not what this show is about.  It is a vehicle to display the entertaining judges.  Now I think I am ready to enjoy this show on its own terms.  I think I will always love Idol more because I am a complete sucker for a Cinderella story.

Plus I think it has something from America Got Talent, only for singing, and a little bit of a game show,The Price Is Right, with all the cheers, happiness and disappointments backstage(and sometimes on stage) from fam. members and friends with “push the bottom”, “got it”(at least for the audition part). So, I’ve started to take it like this, forget the voice enjoy the show.

    Who’s Jamar?

  • Anonymous

Tee hee.  Looks like grrrrrreat TV.

Now why aren’t there girls like her auditioning for idol?  I mean, why aren’t there girls like her in the top 24?  That seemed pretty real and it must have been because Christina didn’t annoy me like she usually does when it’s a prepared statement.

I like The Voice.  What’s their mantra?  Finda a Voice?  They do and I don’t think there was any promise about what happens after they find it.  It’s a crap shoot, which really is all the IDOL is too.  IMO of course.

It’s totally sweet; the girl was actually trembling.  Pretty cool to at least say she had an opportunity to duet with Xtina.

American Idol 8 contestant (Danny Gokey’s BFF)

  • http://twitter.com/shoriagirl Nina Korol

The headline says “Chrstiana”  I was wondering who that was!

The Voice judges are way more respectful of contestants than Idol has ever been. As far as commercial success – I don’t think that Idol has a good tract record on the longevity of their product.  Many Idols get a recording contract just to be dropped unceremoniously and then have their names dragged through the mud.  Idol does nothing to help these kids after they used them, they even openly talk trash about the former contestants.

And don’t worry about Javier: he is playing a lot of gigs all over the place, he keeps in touch with Adam and other Voice contestants.  It’s all good!
