I hope Dia maintains her lead and gets the voting majority too. Team Dia all the way here!

  • abbysee

Team Javier, but I won’t be mad if Dia wins. I see either of them moving units easily. They will both get a record deal.

  • JGLucky

All of the studio performances are even better than the live ones. They were produced fantastically.

No offense to Idol, but any of these originals beat Scotty singing “I Love You This Big” while stretching his arms out wide to show you… he loves you that big. Uh, yeah, whoever wrote that song must have tossed and turned at night to come up with those lyrics.

Yes, but they’ve both been signed before. It depends on the songs. I wasn’t impressed with any of the originals tonight. That doesn’t bode well.

Idol coronation songs are mostly novelty songs. I can’t take them seriously. I suppose these are rushed, too. Hopefully, the ones who get signed get better material than displayed on the show.

  • abbysee

I understand, but even though this isn’t the same forum as idol or as many viewers, I think that this is the most exposure either of them have had, and it might count for something, of course the music too. This will be interesting to see how they are marketed and how much after the show exposure they get.

I really think ILYTB has performed beyond expectations, but neither of the originals tonight were miles better imho. At this very minute I can’t say I remember them in the same way that I remembered Scotty singing it for the first time. Let of an impact imho.

  • hoa_teca

There’s nothing wrong in Scotty stretching his arm while singing this song. It’s not like he has a choice in singing coronation song but he sings this song well, no matter how suck this song may seem to you. I hope he had a better song, but ILYTB is not that bad if you listen to it closely.

Oh wait, Scotty did have another good original song called “Out of summertime” for the finale but it was considered not fit for Idol show.

Lyrics of original songs for the Voice seems to be better, but I am not impressed by any of them. We should wait to see if any of these songs can reach gold. Counting recent sales, which will come up soon , ILYTB may reach 330-340K already.

  • girlygirl

The songs didn’t stay in the top 10 of iTunes for very long. Dia currently at #14 and Javier at #19

I don’t see either Dia or Javier becoming a star, so I don’t really care who wins. I do think all 4 will likely get signed by somebody, although I wonder how a label will market a rocker chick who is nearly 50 years old — that seems like a hard sell to people outside the reality show bubble.

  • jksant

Dia Frampton just hit #1 on iTunes!

  • VakAttack

Dia is number 1? Wow. Blake Shelton FTW!!! That’s backing up some trash talk right there!

  • Inconnu

    moved

ETA: I bought Javier & Dia. I like them both.

  • cwm

MJ — just a wee little correction needed. In your list at the top, you have Javier and Blake listed for Man in the Mirror. It should be Javier and Adam.

Heading off to buy Javier now. Go TeamJavier!

  • Trina

They’re both still in the Top 10. Dia #1 and Javier is #3. Man In the Mirror #13, Afraid To Sleep #17.

  • girlygirl

Party Rock Anthem moved past Dia back into #1 spot again.

  • Dlynne

Party Rock Anthem moved past Dia back into #1 spot again.

On the front page she’s still #1 but on the list she’s #2. Weird.

ETA: It had been like that for about 15 minutes. Of course, as soon as I posted, it changed. It’s still pretty impressive to be #1 even if it’s just for a little while.

  • earthy

Currently #1 for Dia and #3 for Javier

Dia is still charting higher then the remaining contestants for previous week performances.

  • Grammie Kari

I enjoyed all the performances. Loved the duet with Blake and Dia. Their voices melted so well together. I do see a star coming out of this show, I’m just not sure which one. it will be!

So, eight are on the tour? Cool.

Still hard for me to compare to Idol. I actually liked Taylor’s and David Cook’s cornation songs. Taylor’s was used at my daughter’s graduation.

I really like The Voice, but I love American Idol!

  • Imkhemari

Currently Dia is #1 and Javier #4. Checking out their popularity ratings at LivePopBars it seems Javier has 79.5% of Dia’s sales at present! (I think that is how you read it.)

Of course the other voting methods may override this.

ETA Javier is now #3 but with a 78% popularity ie less than he had at #4. He and Katy Perry at #4 have very close popularity figures: they can, and obviously do, swop places easily. The gap to #2 and from #2 to #1 are both about 10% and would be harder to cross.

This is the first time I’ve used the pop bars, it’ll be interesting to see how much they fluctuate.

  • chrislongisland

By the way, Party Rock Anthem is THE SONG of this summer. The video also features Quest Crew and is amazing.

I like both Dia and Javier. Their two original songs are way better than any Idol winners single since Cook’s Time of My Life.

  • MrDuffin

Scotty is a novelty act with a novelty song. The folks on the voice can actually sing….big difference!

  • hoa_teca

You should wait for Sotty’s 1st album before judging him like this.

  • chrislongisland

The funny part is the only contestant I would buy a full album for is Xenia. She’s the only one with a voice that’s different from what’s already out there.

  • BonnieDee

I will admit I haven’t watched The Voice except for the first couple of episodes. But I listened to Dia Frampton’s song Inventing Shadows on Itunes, and I was not impressed with the vocals or the song. Very uninteresting and flat IMO.

  • revolution

Dia was flat all season…she is not a shy kid who’s last recording was in her mothers house…her last album was promoted by Warner Brothers and has a Paramore feel to it…she already had a fan base.

  • St.Lucia

I stand by my original assessment last night, pretty sure Dia has this in the bag. (I could be wrong, but I’d put money on Dia right now). I think they see in her a young, innocent act as a great way to manipulate her into making the album THEY want, versus the album Dia might want to make herself.

Javier is good and he’ll probably finish second, but he’s had his chances and none of them worked. Probably not wanting to take a risk on him again.

Dia is easier to market, Dia has more mainstream radio potential(although not with the crappy leftover rejected song they gave her.).

Dia will win because TPTB can do MORE with Dia.

  • bean99

I thought all of the originals were far better than any on Idol ever. Why can’t they do songs that you can imagine being on the radio like these ones?

I’m so torn between Dia and Vicci that I didn’t end up voting. I like Javier too but just not as much. Other than Beverly, I’ll be happy with whichever one wins.

  • Esqt

Dia, #1? Wow, that was awesome! There’s something about that quirky voice of hers that I just love. Bought hers & Vicci’s iTune recordings (as always), but my 20+1 votes tonight all went to Vicci. I think Dia had the better song than Vicci, but overall, the later was a consummate singer/performer on stage. I want ‘em winner of TheVoice to be both impressive vocally & live.

  • Allison

I voted for Beverly. I also liked Vicci. I know they won’t win, so I hope Dia takes it over Javier.

  • tinawina

I think Dia as the winner makes sense because the show is supposed to be about finding a distinctive radio voice, and out of the 4 she probably fits the profile the most.

  • Lucy1234

Like both Javier and Dia but I also think Dia will win. Nice to see her at #1 this morning just like Blake said. I downloaded both her single and Javier’s.

  • chrislongisland

Dia will win because TPTB can do MORE with Dia.

I actually don’t think The Voice has a TPTB yet, and they are just happy with their initial success that anyone who wins will be fine with them.

  • Barometz02

I thought all of the originals were far better than any on Idol ever. Why can’t they do songs that you can imagine being on the radio like these ones?

I think their originals are crap. There is no way their songs are far better and more radio friendly than Idol’s songs like “No Air”, “Before He Cheats” and “Since U Been Gone”. Dia, Vicci and Beverly will never sell more than Jordin, Carrie and Kelly.

  • jksant

I believe bean99 was referring to Idol “coronation songs” like No Boundaries, Love You This Big, etc. And I second bean99 on that one. :)

  • Trina

Javier up to #2 now, Man in the Mirror up to #8.

  • ituneit

If I was a talent scout I would sign Dia over the rest. She’s the most marketable. Her voice is distinctive and she has the look. Javier is common. His type is all over the place. He’s a Bruno Mars type but Bruno has a much better voice. Vicci doesn’t have the most pleasant tone to her voice and doesn’t appear to fit anywhere. I never really cared for her that much. Beverly has a powerhouse voice but is a niche market she’d never be mainstream.

  • justshootme

I think they said voting closed at 10:00am today, so I assume whatever happens on Itunes at this point won’t impact the final result?

Hope Dia wins, I’d like to see the confetti fall on a female for a change. Plus I like her best. And I suspect The Voice’s PTB, embrionic as they may be, would love the ammo for another dig at AI. “See, a woman CAN win. Just not on American Idol”. Lol.

  • Barometz02

I believe bean99 was referring to Idol “coronation songs” like No Boundaries, Love You This Big, etc. And I second bean99 on that one.

Like it or not, “I Love You This Big ” broke Country Radio debut record.

  • tomk

Dia was flat all season…she is not a shy kid who’s last recording was in her mothers house…her last album was promoted by Warner Brothers and has a Paramore feel to it…she already had a fan base.

I just listened to a few youtube clips – and yep, I thought of “Paramore”. She did change things up a bit for “The Voice”, which is fine of course. Many artists had to change their style before becoming a star (which is not to say I think Dia is on the verge of stardom).
It does make the “dishwasher” comment from last night appear phony though.

  • number8gurl

Don’t care enough about this show to actually cast a vote. I saw someone else mention the difference between Idol and this show and maybe why people become so invested in Idol contestants is 11 weeks of live performance and voting versus 4. That really isn’t long enough for me to ‘get to know’ a contestant or become invested in them.

All that being said I did watch the show and based upon the performances last night of the original songs I liked Dia’s the best (the song and her performance). I think she is the most marketable and radio ready out of the 4 and I think she will win. I’m still doubtful this show will produce any bonafide stars. A $100,000 contract with some record label I’ve never heard of. I guess it remains to be seen what kind of promotion the winner will get (if any).

  • JGLucky

Just because I Love You This Big had country chart success doesn’t mean it’s a good song, lol.

That’s not even a slight against Scotty. It’s against whoever thought it was a good idea to write such a mundane tune.

  • Mel1

Wow. Dia. I was rooting for Javier for the win and thought he had it in the bag. I still think he is the most talented of all of them. I don’t mind whoever wins — they all have something special. Dia isn’t the best singer, but her unique voice is really marketable. It’s really all about the song. Look at the rest of her iTunes. Still selling. Heartless won’t go away.

  • YeahRight

Ugh at Dia winning this thing. I blame the fanbase she already had and Blake Shelton. You know how that country fanbase is. Plus, he had his buddies begging their fans to vote for Dia.

I was rooting for Beverly or Vicci. But Dia and Javier won out over them. Guess “America” likes their music basic.

  • Desdemona

Javier, Javier, Javier! I hope he got the ‘other’ votes to put him ahead of Dia. I just don’t get her voice! Though Javier is my favorite, I much prefer Vicci’s voice over Dia’s. But I recognize Dia’s been leading iTunes for at least the last 2 weeks.

  • fusion8

I also like Dia, but prefer Javier to win. Javier can just flat out sing anything. IF(and a huge one at that) any these 4 finalists make it big, then ratings will surely go up so is the talent poll. and add more years to the show.

  • rkt

Looks like dia is winning :( where did her massive fans come from? I just don’t get it. I voted for Javier 70 times last night… Still hope Justin bieber’s followers can make a difference though.

  • http://www.kellydeanhansen.com MahlerFan

Just to clarify…Meg and Dia’s third album WAS released and promoted by Warner Bros., but they dropped the band shortly after that. The sister act then self-released an album called “Cocoon,” and that’s probably what she’s referring to with the “dishwasher” stuff. Not quite untrue, but not quite the whole truth. Blake and the show are trying their best to bury the existence of “Meg and Dia.” Has she even mentioned her sister on the show? Meg is older, and was actually the driving force behind the band.

The Framptons are from my home town of St. George, Utah, and went to the high school I graduated from, Dixie. My dad actually taught Meg in 7th grade, but retired before Dia came through middle school. They moved to Vegas before Dia graduated high school, but her parents now live back in St. George, and Dia considers it her hometown.

  • damroberts744

Dia has a number of things going for her. 1. She has that Adele/Amy Winehouse thing going for her, which is relevant today 2. She is an underdog (Javier, Beverly, and Vicci all started the competition as judges and producers favorites) and 3. She is actually very talented, and has pretty much fought to get to where she is, while Javier, Vicci and Beverly were probably just going to end up there.

I’m not entirely sure how much her fans from her band are helping her simply because the demographic for Meg and Dia and the demographic for The Voice are so drastically different.

  • Trina

Blake begging his buddies? Justin Bieber has been pimping Javier asking his rabid herd to vote for him because of his buddy Adam. ALL the judges play the game.

  • rkt

Dia is no Adele nor Winehouse. Those 2 have some major pipes. Dia has no soul, and her thin voice doesn’t help either. She is more like didi bemami.

  • tinawina

Dia is more of a Regina Spektor type IMO. Quirky indie singer/songwriter chick.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

I didn’t end up voting, either. It seems Dia or Javier will win this thing. I really haven’t settled on a favorite because they have all impressed me at one point or another, but not consistently.

  • Desdemona

I didn’t vote, but I did download Javier’s single from iTunes, because I just love it! I also LOVED his duet with Adam – WOW! For me, Javier had the best single, and their duet was the best – with Dia & Blake’s duet following closely behind! :)

  • abbysee

Scotty is a novelty act with a novelty song. The folks on the voice can actually sing….big difference!

Wow……but this is just your opinion. Big difference.

I think all winners of idol can sing. The voice finalists are solid too. I don’t think this is where the comparisons should lie. And since this is The Voice we are talking about…..

  • OutlawBiker

I wouldn’t be upset if Dia won but I voted for Vicci. I liked her song the best last night.

  • Barometz02

Just because I Love You This Big had country chart success doesn’t mean it’s a good song, lol.

bean99 said; “Why can’t they do songs that you can imagine being on the radio like these ones? “. The fact is that “I Love You This Big” is getting raioplay. I can’t imagine Beverly and Vicci getting radioplay at all.

  • revolution

country radio play is nothing to brag about…its all crap…

  • Dlynne

I just listened to a few youtube clips – and yep, I thought of “Paramore”. She did change things up a bit for “The Voice”, which is fine of course. Many artists had to change their style before becoming a star (which is not to say I think Dia is on the verge of stardom).
It does make the “dishwasher” comment from last night appear phony though.

Meg and Dia have recorded an album since they were dropped from Warner. It’s an indie album and I believe that’s the record they made in her house.

  • PamReid

She has that Adele/Amy Winehouse thing going for her, which is relevant today

Sorry, but I have to disagree – Dia doesn’t give me an Adele or Amy Winehouse vibe at all. I like her and I think her voice is nice – not blow me away great, but nice. She has that singer/songwriter indie thing going on – not sure who I would compare her to and maybe that’s a good thing for her.
