The finales of The Voice and Dancing With the Stars hit ratings lows last night. Although The Voice led the night with a 2.1 rating in adults 18-49, it was the weakest performance for a season finale in the show’s history, down 0.8 from each of the previous two cycles.
Dancing With the Stars, meanwhile, posted a 1.6, down 0.8 from the fall season finale and 0.7 vs. last spring. It narrowly avoided a series low for a regular episode.
Interestingly, neither show finale received a significant bump from regular season editions. The Voice has hovered around the 2.1 number for most of the lives, DWTS at around 1.8. The numbers dropped from last night’s 1.9 rating. Airing directly against each other may have hurt both shows.
And as an FYI: The American Idol season finale garnered a 3.0 and nearly 13 million viewers.
