The Voice 8 Polls – The Top 10 – Vote For Your Favs

The Voice - Season 8

It was another TERRIFIC show from The Voice tonight. The best performance came from Koryn Hawthorne. The 17 ripped our collective hearts out with a powerful rendition of “Make it Rain” by Ed Sheeran. The song zoomed up the iTunes chart, and is already in the Top 10. Sawyer Fredericks isn’t far behind with a performance of “Iris” that wasn’t his best. Stay away from the pure pop, Sawyer. It doesn’t do you justice. But what does it matter? I think this boy could fart for 3 minutes, and he’d still sell iTunes. Meghan Linsey had another terrific week. Country blues is her wheelhouse, and she owned it with Marc Broussard’s “Home.” A song she wisely chose for herself.

Inexplicably, Hannah Kirby has the 4th highest iTunes song of the Top 10. I thought her version of “Shout” was, well, SHOUTY. And kind of a mess. India Carney’s “Run to You” was uneven at best, but bless the pimp spot. She’s in the middle of the pack and likely won’t face the firing squad tomorrow.

I thought Joshua Davis was better this week than last. At least he came alive half way through the performance this week. But song choice is EVERYTHING. Last week’s “America,” a well loved song,” finished 3rd highest on iTunes. The relatively obscure “Hold Back the River” is dead last this week. Apparently, on twitter, Josha shared that it’s not a song he would have chosen for himself. Hm. He COULD be singing for the save tomorrow! America is still not feeling Rob Taylor. He could wind up in the bottom, too. And as I feared, America not totally loving Kimberly Nichole this week. She’s doing fine–midpack–but that performance was terrific. The song may have been to obscure and old fashioned for viewers. Deanna Johnson had the worst performance of the night and is only slightly ahead of Rob on iTunes. She’ll likely hit the B3 this week. After Blake threw Corey Kent White under the bus tonight, he could also be in trouble. Koryn and Sawyer may be the only singers to hit the Top 10 bonus.

The judges comments were cut short tonight. Good thing, because at this point, their critiques are pretty useless. They can’t bring themselves to say anything negative about anybody. Although I have to appreciate the sly way that Christina throws shade. “Oh. I like your outfit!” she said to Deanna. Heh.
