In the latest press release from NBC, the return of the “Instant Save” is confirmed. Also, two contestants will be eliminated until the winner is announced on May 20. I’ll do the math for you. That’s five weeks of live shows. Four singers will compete in the finale.
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — April 15, 2014 — NBC’s Emmy Award-winning musical competition series “The Voice” has narrowed its season-six field to the top 12 artists, all of whom will compete for the title when live episodes begin Monday, April 21 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT).
Each of the celebrity musician coaches — Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher — will have three artists on their respective teams. At the end of each Tuesday episode, two performers will be eliminated until there is only one champion.
In addition, during each live results show, the three artists with the lowest number of mentions will be eligible for the “Instant Save.” These artists will each perform a new song that represents why they should earn the save. Then, America will have the opportunity to save their favorite performer by tweeting out #VoiceSave along with the artist’s name. The two singers with the lowest number of votes will be sent home each week until one winner is announced as “The Voice” on May 20.
The top 12 have gone through the blind auditions, two rounds of intense battles and playoffs, and artists have been stolen by coaches in order to give them the best chances to win. Now, artists perform each week in hopes to be saved and move forward to the ultimate goal of being named the Voice.
