The Voice 3 - Top Ten Live Results

Join us as we watch two more contestants get eliminated from The Voice. Any predictions? I think it could be Trevin, Cody or Sylvia going home tonight based on the iTunes chart. Cassadee, Melanie and Amanda are almost certainly safe. I wouldn’t be upset if Bryan somehow slipped into the bottom ranks and left instead of Trevin or Bam Bam.

And here we go! Carson introduces the coaches. First, we will have a recap. The stakes are high, y’all! We had record-breaking voting. Carson mentions that Melanie and Cassadee were in the top ten of the iTunes charts.

Christina is singing “Let There Be Love” with Dez and Sylvia. Dez and Sylvia start out in her chair and push the button. ;-) Kinda cute start. This is high energy and playful.

There’s a hashtag twitter contest on a live song being performed later. Didn’t catch it because I tend to tune out when I know we’re fixing to go to a commercial.

Oh, there’s Juliet Simms from last season promoting Kia and her new video. Maybe The Voice got the memo about promoting its past contestants. We’ve also seen a promo with Jermaine Paul.

Back from the break. Adam waffles about which team he finds most competitive. He wants them to worry about about their own performances. Cee-lo defends his team’s song choices. Christina pimps her team. She also name checks Trevin’s smile and Cassadee’s emotion. Carson thanks Blake for writing the song that knocked Psy’s “Gangnam Style” out of the number one spot on iTunes. Blake said he had a few drinks after getting home. Don’t thank him. Thank Cassadee, he says.

Contestants are at center stage. The first safe contestant is Nicholas David! America has also saved Cassadee Pope! Shocker. Not.

More results and Rascal Flatts up after the break.

The songs up for twitter vote are “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” or “Want You to Want Me.” No doubt both options were ready to go, but it’s another way The Voice seems to try to engage the viewers into interacting with the show.

Rascal Flatts is singing now. I don’t like the lead singer’s voice. Never have. Cassadee and Bam Bam are performing with them. Cody is in cowboy rodeo mode now. Cassadee is reinventing herself as a country singer perhaps. I prefer both of them to this lead singer dude. Blake gives them a standing ovation.

More results: America has saved Dez! And Bam Bam!

Up now, “Crazy Little Think Called Love” by Team Adam. I like that there are lots of musical numbers during the results show. I don’t mind that the coaches take part either. This is also fun.

More results: America has saved Melanie! Again, not a shocker based on iTunes.

Team Blake and Team Christina are singing “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” based on a twitter hashtag contest. Again, I think The Voice does a good job of mixing musical numbers and results. I don’t think this has dragged on too long like some hour-long result shows can.

More results: America has saved Terry!

Commercial break.

Four contestants remain: Sylvia, Trevin, Bryan, and Amanda.

America saves Trevin! Yes! America saves Amanda!

Safe:

Nicholas David
Cassadee Pope
Dez Duran
Cody Belew
Melanie Martinez
Terry McDermott
Trevin Hunte
Amanda Brown

What did you think of the results? I’m pleased. As I said earlier, I hoped Bam Bam and Trevin would slip past Bryan and his hat. Woot! Until next week, it’s a wrap!

  • http://www.facebook.com/jnoodles Jonathan Frahm

I think that Cody is an unfortunate lock, Sylvia would be the obvious for going first, and Trevin would be the slightly less obvious for going all trainwrecky after being amazing aside from that for elimination after last night.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

Didn’t someone mention here that Amanda went to #9 on itunes? Am I crazy here?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

This show is going to promote all the songs of Christina’s new album ? I know some people call her The Voice, but I never imagined the show would take it so literally.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

Was it Juliet Simms singing on kia’s commercial? I didn’t catch.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

Man, I think she needs to stop the self promo, because I highly doubt she is helping her lagging sales. She’ll be performing every week at this rate.

  • http://twitter.com/jepriy Jepoy Ramos

she didn’t make the cutoff for voting which was 10am EST. She got to #9 at around 11am

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Nevermind

I’m loving the fact America is behind Nicholas; there is still hope for TVoice voters :)

  • notthatmary

So glad they put Nick thru first and I must say whoever is working with everyone  (except Bryan) on style is doing a great job.  Terry looks fab in his suit, Melanie’s bow is gone and Nick’s topnot suits his persona.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

I’m ok with Xtina performing every week instead of them booking with the likes of Carly Rae, Ke$ha, Bieber etc :)

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

    Oh boo :(

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

    Well that’s true. heh.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Didn’t Cody get to sing with the guest star last week too? lol

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

Now why couldn’t Cody sing like that last night? he sounded fantastic

  • http://twitter.com/Loretta31 Loretta

This is like the Cassadee Pope show?  WTF really?  It is so unfair how the Voice is showcasing just Cassadee tonight!

  • mileyfan123

It is embarrassing that Cassadee is in the top 8. She just cannot sing at all. I don’t care how many fans she had from her old band or how pretty she is. She can’t hit the notes, and she is always out of tune. This show loves to talk about how it is all about “the voice” but if Cassadee didn’t have the fanbase coming in the producers wouldn’t have had the judges put her through in auditions, they wouldn’t have put her through the battle rounds, and they wouldn’t have put her through the knockout rounds.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Cassadee definitely has problems singing on key and I’m not fond of the tone of her voice.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

Yay BAM2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Xtina last week’s comment somehow made him stay true to himself and America loves the real Cody <3

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

Well seeing she’s still #1 on itunes I suspect many people disagree with you :)

  • http://twitter.com/tukicarreno Tuki

OMG! I am sooo happy! Cody is safe!

  • kmd23

Go Cody!! Glad that he is staying.

  • sue

I thought it was Dez and Bryan? Ok gotta go back and look. lols Anyway he did well.

  • Valentin432

You have to love that Xtina peaks approximately 20 women and two men over the course of the series and Chris Mann and Dez are her most popular contestants.

  • sue

So happy for BAM BAM! YESSSSS!!!!!!!!

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that the iTunes songs are all studio versions where vocal problems are fixed with pro-tools.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Bam Bam lives another week!  Yay!!!  I guess the phone/email votes pulled him through.  I just hope Bryan is his victim.

  • mileyfan123

LOL, Taylor Swift has had lots of number #1 hits on itunes, it doesn’t mean she is a good live singer either. Certain things like pitch aren’t opinions, they are facts. I understand that singing talent doesn’t always come into play in the real world, but that isn’t how the show sold itself. It said it was ALL about the voice, the actual singing talent. If that was true, she never would have made it out of auditions.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Oh, I think that you’re right. Sorry!

  • Valentin432

Lol, yes the n°1 on itunes is the one advancing because of looks, of course because these shows have proven that female contestants looks is what matters to voters.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

Whatever people wants to say about Cassadee I personally agree that song deserved the #1 spot.  Its a beautiful song and she did pull it nicely and I believe people buy itunes for the songs.  I think if the contestants are given chance to sing original songs and it turns out good, it will sell.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that Cassadee’s fanbase is making her more attractive to the producers to pimp. The Voice desperately wants/needs a winner (or someone) who will be successful commercially, and I think that they believe that Cassadee could fit the bill.

  • chillj

Rascal Flatts dude din’t hit every note, either.  Seems to be a problem all around.

  • chillj

Rascal Flatts dude din’t hit every note, either.  Seems to be a problem all around.

  • Valentin432

The recordings are sold on the back of the live performances not on their quality, that’s been pretty clear for years now.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I really like Amanda the best of this threesome.

Freddie Mercury is screaming in his grave right now.

  • mileyfan123

yeah, they are clearly whoring out their whole premise in the hopes that they can finally get someone to sell

  • fuzzywuzzy

The announcement of the “saved” contestants isn’t in any particular order, is it?

  • mileyfan123

Do you actually think Cassadee is a good vocalist lol?

  • mileyfan123

She doesn’t miss a note or two lol, she misses almost all of them

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

    No I don’t think so.

  • chillj

I think Amanda would do better than Cassadee career wise; she is very flexible.  Polished.  There seems to be a space for that right now.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

I’m loving the fact 3 WOMEN leads the itunes ranks; pretty confident that Amanda will also go through.  Girl Power!!! :)

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that Amanda is a much better singer than Cassadee and has way more stage presence.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

Well even with Taylor Swift’s studio recordings I don’t think they deserve #1 lol, but that said you can pick on everybody’s pitch, it wasn’t colored that far outside the lines to take away from the songs she sings, unlike Sylvia who does have a great voice but is a trainwreck when she performs :)

  • fuzzywuzzy

Even the best singers miss a note every once in a while, but when singers are frequently off key that’s a different story.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Seriously, they chose the performance by hashtags on twitter? Obviously Cassade’s fans chose the performance;

ETA: and it’s ugly, now all the viewers of the show have to suffer because of her fans. ugh

  • Valentin432

And you think she hit the number 1 because she looked pretty in a dress?

Yes, it’s that easy, be a pretty girl and you’re going to hit the number that’s a pretty established fact in the history of these shows.

Maybee you’re season long bias blinded you from recognizing her great performance yesterday

  • mileyfan123

No, I think she hit #1 because she is pretty and because she had hundreds of thousands of twitter followers going into the show lol. My point isn’t about her gender, it is about her lack of vocal skills.

  • mileyfan123

Maybee you’re season long bias blinded you from recognizing her great performance yesterday

No, the fact she can’t sing in tune has “blinded” me lol

  • Valentin432

You were saying the exact same thing last year about that disney kid.

There aren’t huge fanbases in play Hey monday wasn’t a big band.

BTW, there’s one thing in common between Juliet Simms and Cassade they both were featured on All Time Low song, so I guess they don’t have a problem with her vocal prowess.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

Wow Sylvia is toast; I’m hoping for a big upset i.e. both remaining guys out ;)  I know it’s a impossibility :(

  • chillj

Agree.  I laso think Sylvia Yakoub is better; she works the stage well, is different looking, much better, stronger voice.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

You are pretty hung up on vocal purity “Mileyfan” lol

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

Actually it was a good performance yesterday by Cassadee. Some subtle pitchy problems but very good. The thing is that she got a pass through 5 ROUNDS singing terribly and at this point of the season she should be out even if she reincarnates Whitney Houston next week.

  • bahogbugan_simj

i agree about Amanda being a way better singer although i actually liked Cassadee’s performance yesterday.

it’s her rabid fans who are putting me off when they hype her so much that she can’t match it.  the ones commenting/spamming on youtube are especially horrendous

  • mileyfan123

Well the show is called “The voice” lol. If they said they were about stage presence and personality too, I wouldn’t have a problem.

  • Valentin432

Except she didn’t hit number 1 ever before or even the top 10 if I’m not mistaken

If you can’t recognize that her performance last night is what made tousands of people buy her recording, hard to reason with you.

  • mileyfan123

If you can’t recognize simple facts like pitch it is hard to reason with you

  • fuzzywuzzy

Yaaay!! Amanda is through! I’m glad that won’t have to see Bryan’s smug smirk any more! I feel badly for Silvie though. I wonder where Amanda actually ranked in the votes?

  • notthatmary

Voting is so much better here than Idol!  Bryan and Sylvia had the weakest (although still good) performances last nite and are gone even though Bryan was clearly Adam’s golden boy and Sylvia did a great job a couple of weeks ago with her pimp spot.

Am enjoying the fact that leader (other than Cassadee) changes each week.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

Jesus! For a minute there, I thought my poor girl Amanda was gone! Can we all digest for a minute that freaking Bryan Keith is gone? I have no clue why this show ran long for that to at least give Bryan and Sylvia a closing moment. Show dragged out the remaining results a bit too much.

  • Valentin432

Pretty expected eliminations based on itunes rankings. Only wondering how high or low Amanda really is on the leaderboard.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

Not liking the gender ratio 5:3 though :(  Here’s hoping the 3 girls show their best every week; they’ll need the X10 itunes points for sure to stay.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

I said something about what it here: http://www.mjsbigblog.com/the-voice-3-top-10-who-was-your-favorite-poll.htm#comment-715179329

Tony never had much fans, just twitter followers. Actually, his official page on facebook has just a few followers.

Juliet Simms fanbase is much smaller than Cassade’s fanbase, in the same way Cassadee’s talent is much smaller than Juliet’s talent.

  • Jordana33

Thank goodness Amanda made it! I think I might have stopped watching if she had been eliminated. And seriously, could Carson Daily have taken any longer to give those final results?

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

I actually thought Bryan was pretty good, even though I’m not the biggest fan of his deadpan vocal delivery. I think his problem was just not being very exciting. Trevin was kinda bad last night, so that dude most definitely has a fan base boy. I’m now certain him and Cassadee will be the last two standing.

  • http://twitter.com/mwk89 Matthew Kitson

pleasantly surprised. Bryan was technically a good singer, but was just really boring

  • durbesque

I was just going to watch the DVR.  Saw the Safe list above.  Now I don’t have to waste time watching.  What a time-saver this site is!!!

  • http://twitter.com/mwk89 Matthew Kitson

you mean screech like a bird Juliet?

  • http://twitter.com/mwk89 Matthew Kitson

just your opinion. have to realize your opinion isn’t the only one

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

I am pleased that Trevin and Bam Bam live to see another day.  I have never really liked Bryan. I also find him boring and I had hoped once the live voting started he would leave.  I don’t know if he was fodder for Adam or if Adam though he would get the girl votes.

  • mileyfan123

Tune and pitch aren’t opinions. They are musical facts. That is like clocking someone running a 40 meter dash and saying their time is an opinion.

  • alonzo7

Boy that first singing spot is a killer-people don’t remember you at all unless you have the performance of your life.
Looks like a CeLo win this year-all three of his acts made it to the top 8-glad to see BamBam another week-he makes me smile.
Might be Cassadee and Trevin top two.

  • sue

Yippie so happy that Bryan is gone!!!!!!!!!  His pandering didn’t work and he is just plain boring.  Sylvia went first so she really had a slim chance of surviving  and her performance was just ok. Oh well Xtina has Dez.  :)

  • Listening

I’m glad Christina is losing her team. If I recall correctly even though I was upset most of the time w/ all the judges during the battle round/knock out round I was particularly angry w/ Christina and her choices. Most recently letting go of deborah that was her right. Anyway that’s what you get for just keeping scream singers.

  • OffLeash

Cody in but Bryan out? Are you kidding me?

  • Valentin432

And what are you basing the size of her fanbase on, is it hundreds? Tousands? Millions?

Cassadee doesn’t have that many twitter followers (at least 3 or 4 times less than Tony had last year), Hey Monday never sold that many records either.

It’s just convenient to say she’s popular because of previous existing fanbase and not because actual viewers of the show like her.
The Voice has over ten million viewers, it’s the number one tv show this fall aside from a coupe of half hour comedies, a small even if vocal fanbase isn’t going to make much of a difference just it never did on idol or other shows.

Those type of conspiracy theories never hold up.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

     Yes, it’s a beautiful thing.  ;-)

  • Valentin432

That’s what you get for keeping female singers.
XTina hasn’t figured out yet that she needs to stack her team with male singers just like Cee Lo did.
Deborah would have fallen by the wayside by now.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

LOL, Not gonna lie, you and Milyfan123 are wearing me OUT! Hahahaha, it’s all good, interesting conversations all around. I can love some strong opinions. :)

  • OffLeash

    Surely you jest lol

  • Jordana33

Why doesn’t The Voice let more of their alumni perform? Four Xtina singles is overkill.

  • chessguy99

They did call the top iTunes seller on each team safe first for their team; Cassadee, Nicholas, Melanie and Dez.

  • bahogbugan_simj

too bad, i actually like Bryan’s voice.  he really did have a problem with connecting to the audience though.  probably because he looks villainous

yay for Amanda and Cody.  i love Terry’s voice but he really needs to step up with the song choice next week.  i hate that it’s being wasted on predictable song choices.

also yay for Nicholas.  he’s a bit too old-school for my tastes but i like having him for variety so i’m happy he went as far as this

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Not at all.  To me, Bryan didn’t come across as someone who thought he had to put much effort into the competition.  Obviously, I don’t know him and that’s just my perception.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/IYMZ43XMLLAE6RVHJS4M6KNC5Y Dennis

They really don’t care about their alumni and xtina’s got an album to sell.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/IYMZ43XMLLAE6RVHJS4M6KNC5Y Dennis

They really don’t care about their alumni and xtina’s got an album to sell.

  • Richard Rosado

Im sorry but am I the only one that noticed that Cody and Trevin didn’t sing 1/2 of their song… It’s crazy that people think Dez and Cody are better SINGERS (which is what THE VOICE is all about) than Bryan…

  • OffLeash

Not particularly a fan of Bryan, but he has a good voice, and I found Cody’s performance last night totally ridiculous. Anyway. Hopefully he’ll be gone next week. And he can take Dez with him. ;)

  • Jordana33

Adam’s team was stacked with just as many female singers and it has definitely paid off for him. But that’s because Melanie and Amanda have been performing very well.

  • 1rollbounce2

I am just happy that Nicholas is safe AND that he was called first!  I didn’t want the extra stress these results shows cause me!

I’m not invested in anyone but Nick – he’s a tad of Taylor Hicks quirk and Bo BIce Hair with the Soul of them combined! x 1000000

Really fabulous top 10…feels better than previous seasons to me.

  • Valentin432

Mélanie was saved the first week, she wasn’t voted through by the public and Adam’s had his 1 guy making it through the top 2 out of 5 contestants just like Xtina, which is pretty much par for the course if you have followed the Voice these past two years.

It’s just pretty blatant the elimination rate for female contestants on this show has been off the charts for the first 3 years.
So yes, Xtina would be better served to just put through cute guys, like I said before it’s pretty funny that she has put around 20 girls and 2 guys through the voting rounds and her two guys are her most popular contestants for the past 3 seasons.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

It was a very good decision from The Voice US eliminating the bottom 2 contestants each week, which increased the number of live shows. Now we got some pretty funny “fan wars”, thing we never had before because nobody knew who’s who. LOL

  • 1rollbounce2

ha ha!  offleash, i coulda typed your post about bryan and cody!  LOL

  • verov

The Voice is all about the voice in name only – past the blinds, looks matter (mostly), as do performance skills and Bryan has been bland and Back to Bland aside from his passable Amy interlude.
Cody is a great showman and entertainer, and Dez, well, you know what Dez is and why people vote for him (though to be fair, he can sing in tune which is a lot more than I can say for Cassadee).

  • http://twitter.com/alienlifeform2 Diablo

Cody in but Bryan out? Are you kidding me?

I’m surprised too, Bryan’ would be shoo in on Idol.  The Voice audience seems to have a lower tolerance for that boring crap he represents.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    LMAO.

  • OffLeash

I’m surprised too. Cody’s joke act would be a better fit for XF or AGT. *snerk*

  • OffLeash

Xtina mostly picks boring mini-Christinas. That’s why they get picked off one by one.

  • girlygirltoo

Bryan struck me as maybe being a little arrogant. He sings fine, but there was nothing interesting about him.

  • http://twitter.com/alienlifeform2 Diablo

I know. He’d have been be a much better fit if he had broken out the guitar instead of dancers, or at least a piano. But Nicolas and Melanie must have filled the quota. Melanie did a marvelous job with it, though, so I’m not holding it against her, and Cody actually made for an entertaining performance. I’m just happy that for once the most boring contestant was voted off. Kudos, The Voice.

  • OffLeash

I supposed he’d have been even more ridiculous if that were possible lmao. But good for you. He gets to embarrass himself another week. Cheers and congrats to you!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/IYMZ43XMLLAE6RVHJS4M6KNC5Y Dennis

The thing about Christina, she really had no strategy, picking mini-Christinas and one cute guy who’s not that good wasn’t going to help her. She had to  realize that these girls were just never going to stand out. The other judges at least got it right that you have get a diverse team together all different, not just pop girls.

Christina made a lot of poor decisions this season like not picking Deborah. She probably only cared about that damn album of hers so she was checked out. lol

  • OffLeash

LOL. You’re probably right. Xtina is a good judge, she always gives interesting feedback on performance nights for the contestants, but she’s a terrible coach, both at picking her team and at coaching them.

Judging from the screams in the audience though, Dez will probably stick around long after his expiration date, which is already passed afaic.

  • Valentin432

The detail is it’s not just Xtina’s girl that are picked one by one, it’s pretty much all the girls from all the teams accross all seaons.

And I’m tired with the same old excuses about female contestants being all the same or being boring. I’m guessins a Dez, a Jermaine Paul or a Chris Mann are really exciting compared to Mickaela, Lindsey Pavao or Juliet.

  • OffLeash

I’m guessins a Dez, a Jermaine Paul or a Chris Mann are really exciting compared to Mickaela, Lindsey Pavao or Juliet.

    *shudders*

There are very good and interesting female singers on The Voice, but Xtina isn’t the one who picked them.

  • verov

But Cody isn’t embarrassing himself – he is having fun on stage and the audience is entertained by his performances and voting for him (he didn’t get there on iTunes sales).
Now, I would love to see him perform Robbie Williams’ ‘Let me entertain you’ (in the same ridiculous outfit from the video).

  • jlscott13

Actually, for Season 1, the final 4 was 3 girls and 1 guy….

  • OffLeash

The guy won because the 3 girls split the votes. I’m afraid the same thing could happen… again… this season. For me, the best 3 contestants are the 3 remaining girls. But if only one of the guys makes it again this season, like every season so far, that guy will almost certainly automatically win. And chances are that guy will be Dez. Ugh.

  • jlscott13

Very true. Sigh. And last season, there was only one girl in the final 4. That doesn’t bode well. :(

  • OffLeash

Ugh you’re right! Last season was 3 guys-1 girl, and Juliet still didn’t win. Granted, she had her weakest performance that night, but still. Might as well give Dez the crown right away. The next future flop at the box office.

I’m rooting for Amanda to win it all, but Adam needs to let her pick her next song. She needs to rock out again like she did with Dream On, she was so fabulous.

  • http://twitter.com/ClaudeDee Claude Dee

    I called it!

  • tomr

The best thing that could happen now is for Christina’s last person to be eliminated….she is such a brat!  Would love for the 3 girls to finish at the top.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

I agree, and what’s worse, with Bryan gone, she is going to be harder on Adam’s girls. She wishes she could have the gall to find girls who can perform like Amanda, or is as interesting as Melanie.

  • http://twitter.com/kuyanyan Yanyan | RR

If those iTunes sales helps, we might see more than two females in the finale. I don’t like how Dez seems to skirt by based on his good looks.

  • OffLeash

Even scarier to think he was voted in without the help of iTunes superbonus.

  • http://twitter.com/kuyanyan Yanyan | RR

Javier didn’t win because he’s a man and the votes were split between the three girls. Of the three, only Vicki and Beverly have the same market. Dia was on a whole different indie-pop market. Javier didn’t win the iTunes vote but he won the SMS and landline votes. It probably helped that Bieber tweeted to his fans to support Javier after the final performance.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

No question Dez has the looks.  He kind of reminds me of Chris Isaac.  Too bad he can’t sing like Chris.  I think Cody has an interesting voice and nice looks.  I still think Amanda has a chance at winning.  She is sooo good!

  • OffLeash

That’s true too. Adam did kinda rig the outcome by asking the Biebs for help. He wanted to win so bad. But at the very least, Vicki and Beverly, both very strong contenders, split the votes.

  • http://twitter.com/kuyanyan Yanyan | RR

Since when has Xtina cared about her contestants? If she did, it doesn’t show. Lindsey, one of her best artists last season, is essentially on her own right now. Adam has her own record label and Blake continues to support his acts way after the show has finished. He even takes them on his tour! He maybe a jackass on TV and on Twitter but he is still the best coach out there right now.

  • http://twitter.com/kuyanyan Yanyan | RR

The Voice has only been on TV for two years, we had two seasons this year. If you have a problem with how girls are picked off one by one, blame the voters.

  • Valentin432

Yes and there was an all female team (XTina) and the coaches picked to save female contestants over the guys just like they did last year and this year when they can.

  • OffLeash

Adam has taken some of his acts on tour with him. Blake is great, of course. I’m not aware of anything either Xtina or Ceelo did to help their acts after the show.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

I kinda hope he does. With his ultimate prize being gone, he needs it.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Chris Mann has a record deal. Not sure if it had anything to do with Christina, but he wouldn’t have the chance without her.

  • lithee

I recall Cee Lo featured on that Vicci Martinez song Come Along for her album.

  • Valentin432

The Voice is the same as the other shows, voters prefer the boys that’s why I’m surprised people blame a girl for having the upper hand on the competition.

As a general rule I would like the female contestants to have advantages over the competition just to keep things balanced.

  • http://twitter.com/kuyanyan Yanyan | RR

Didn’t know Adam takes his acts on tour with him. I’m not sure about Ceelo but the way he saved Cody over the more obvious choice (tall, hot female) in the BR won me over. I could imagine him supporting his acts after the show but it would be nice to see something concrete.

  • OffLeash

I’m all for the Biebs ordering his twitter followers to vote for Amanda. Gotta do what you gotta do! :D

  • hayes

Well Carson sucked at trying to fill the extra time. No mention of Sylvia or Bryan at all after Amanda was saved. And major fail on the attempt to drum up suspense with the “From Team Adam..” because Sylvia practically stood there knowing she was already eliminated, and Carson didn’t even acknowledge her.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

He was terrible. He truly is a poor host. On top of that, I thought the spacing and timing of the show was sluggish as hell. Poor Bryan and Sylvia couldn’t leave without a proper goodbye.

  • verov

Voters do seem to prefer men, but nobody’s ‘blaming a girl for having the upper hand’ – it’s not an anti-female thing, just an anti-Cassadee thing. I think most people would be happy to see Amanda getting that kind of support. Cassadee was one of the weakest singers on Blake’s team, probably the weakest of the top 20, and definitely the worst of the final 12 (yes, including Melanie, whose voice I find irritating, but is mostly in tune), despite her passable performance on Blake’s song. Hence, it irks that she is so popular.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

True. Hard to eliminate two people though. I’m pretty sure everyone knew Sylvia was gone, so the “suspense” was supposed to be between Amanda and Bryan.  Of course, I think most people paying attention to iTunes knew Amanda was likely to be safe.  The casual viewer probably isn’t watching iTunes stats and he didn’t mention how close Amanda came to top ten.

Bryan was in the wrong show at the wrong time. If he were on S9 of American Idol, he could have beaten Lee Dewyze.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jnoodles Jonathan Frahm

    1. Cassadee Pope – It’s almost as if nothing can stop her now. Her performances have dramatically improved since two weeks ago, she has impeccable stage presence, she looks good, and she has the backup of both fans of Hey Monday and Blake and Miranda. She hit number one on iTunes, thus multiplying her already massive vote count by 10. She’s golden.

Song Suggestions: “Thunder” by Boys Like Girls, “Say You Like Me” by We the Kings, “A Daydream Away” by All Time Low, “Move Along” by The All-American Rejects, “Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year” by Fall Out Boy

    2. Nicholas David – I dare say that Nicholas easily had one of the two best performances of the night, and yes, he’s my personal favorite, but I’m not acting biased when I say that he still has a massive shot at making the finals. His throwback style is really connecting with the studio audience and what I’d imagine would be the major voting audience for a show like The Voice. His performance of “Lean on Me” was incredible. He is truly a seasoned artist with tons of soul. He may not look the part of a traditional winner, but he sure is a winner if I ever did hear one. I won’t be surprised if he’s even better next week and cracks the iTunes Top 10.

Song Suggestions: “A Song For You” by Leon Russell, “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green, “Across the Universe” by The Beatles, “Suzanne” by Leonard Cohen, “Drops of Jupiter” by Train

    3. Melanie Martinez – After two meager weeks, the Melanie we knew from the auditions is finally back and better than ever before. The result? Peaking at 8th on iTunes, thus sealing herself 10x her total vote count. She has an irresistibly unique style, and one that really resonates with the younger viewing audience, and thus, practically everyone who has an iTunes account.

Song Suggestions: “Safe & Sound” by Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars, “Crazy” by Britney Spears, “The Lonely” by Christina Perri, “Creep” or “Karma Police” by Radiohead, “Skinny Love” by Bon Iver

    4. Amanda Brown – She’s still recovering from a couple of weeks ago, but “Stars” was a great step in the right direction towards regaining her ground. She has a very strong voice that can lend itself to just about any song; she just needs to prove it even more than she has in the past and step it up, or she will eventually be swallowed by someone with a fanbase that can become bigger than hers, like..

Song Suggestions: “Kiss” by Maroon 5, “Say It Ain’t So” by Weezer, “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence + The Machine, “One More Night” by Maroon 5

    5. Terry McDermott – He’s in a solid place right now, and he’s most certainly improved, but in my opinion, he has yet to reach that special magic that impressed me with his pre-finals performances. He’s gaining his ground though, and he’s never actually been -bad-, his style is an awesome throwback and he has a voice that he can do a lot with. Like with Amanda, he’s going to need to show his very best next week or he will peak by the place I have him set at now. The only thing setting Amanda as a definite plus over him in the placements is that she had her votes multiplied by charting at 9th on iTunes this morning. He could very well do the same next week as much as he can fizzle out.

Song Suggestions: “Mama, I’m Coming Home” by Ozzy Osbourne(!!!), “Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who, “Life on Mars?” by David Bowie, “Gimme Shelter” by The Rolling Stones, “Walk on Water” by Aerosmith

    6. Dez Duran – He’s the resident eye-candy for this season and will be very popular with women just for that. Because that’s just ridiculous, thank God or whoever in Heaven’s name helped him perform something actually marginally impressive last night with “Feeling Good”. I’m placing him between Terry and Trevin for now, and depending on what he does next, he could reach up to fifth. I’m rooting for him to do another crooner classic, personally.

Song Suggestions: “My Funny Valentine” by Frank Sinatra, “Cry Me A River” by Julie London (as performed by Michael Bublé), “Moon River” by Andy Williams, “The Best is Yet to Come” by Tony Bennett, “Dream a Little Dream of Me” by Mama Cass & The Mamas and the Papas

     7. Trevin Hunte – This is the guy everyone thought would win at first, but there is no doubt in my mind that “Scream” NEARLY eliminated him. It was just a case of sheer dumb luck, or a good percentage of the general American viewing audience actually remembering he can sing very well and deciding to give him another shot. “Scream” is not who Trevin is as an artist; it was not in his wheelhouse. If he wanted to sing something up-tempo, he could’ve done one of Luther’s, he could’ve maybe even done Cee Lo, but something that electronic is just not him. If he sings another song like “Scream” within the next two weeks, I think he’s out of the competition by then.

Song Suggestions: “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross, “Love Me All the Way” by Percy Sledge, “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now)”, “I’ve Got Dreams to Remember” or “These Arms of Mine” by Otis Redding

    8. Cody Belew – Cody was saved by the fans this week, and hey, I have no gripes about that. I actually LIKE the guy. I think he has a great tone to his voice and his personality is a killer, but it’s not going to click with Middle America for much longer. If he’s bringing even more of the glamorous Bam-Bam this coming week, as sad as it is, I really think it’ll be curtains for his run on The Voice. If he goes country ballad, he could buy himself another week.

Song Suggestions: “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga, “On the Floor” by Jennifer Lopez, “Gimme More” by Britney Spears (LOLOL), “The House That Built Me” by Miranda Lambert, “God Gave Me You” by Blake Shelton

Opps posted this in wrong thread so brought it here.

For the record even though I prefer him over many of the other singers i’m surprised Trevin made it through. The song didn’t really showcase him
and to be honest is a bit controversial in it’s message. It could of really alienated some of his fans. I don’t mind that he picked an up-beat song b/c that seems to be what he wants to do but should of picked a better song and something more believable. Let me tell you Trevin isn’t gonna win this competition singing Usher. If you want to win stick w/ ballads/ more emotional songs. If you want to stretch yourself show your range go on w/ the more current songs but you aint winning.

I say win the show w/ ballads and emotional songs like last season’s
winner Jermaine. Once you get the record deal you can do whatever you want, like he did. He put out something different than the music he did on the show.

  • chillj

I thought Bryan sounded really good this week and I hadn’t thought that before, but what do I know, I also thought Dez sounded good this week (and he annoys the bejesus out of me).

  • http://twitter.com/1outside Maj

Happy with the result. I did like Bryan’s perf this week but at the same time I won’t miss him. Sylvia I’ve at least grown to like as a person but won’t miss her either.

I’m happy all my favourites are still in.

  • kmd23

I would rather that Bryan stayed and that Melanie or even Amanda left. I was not a big fan of Bryan but I still think he is more marketable than those other two. Bryan is a good singer. We will see how Melanie and Amanda do after the show ends.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/TBRH25QFXTK5JOPE4HX7FBI5PE J

Wow I was way off about Bryan possibly winning. I guess the people I thought would vote for him were voting for Dez.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“She hit number one on iTunes, thus multiplying her already massive vote count by 10.”

Wut? Does this mean that if any contestant has one of their songs reach the top 10 on iTunes that their votes are increased by more than just the number of songs sold? Would someone please explain how this works? Where have I been? lol

  • WestiesRule

So far, has it mattered who won this show? Unless thy find someone with commercial viability, this show will die a slow death regardless of who the coaches are. All it has done is boost their careers.

  • alonzo7

Decided to download all of Bryan Keith on ITunes-he has a really nice smooth recorded voice-a style I tend to gravitate to.
But his performance skills left something to be desired compared to all the rest of the contestants.
I never liked Cassadee but her performance this week was awfully good-I can see her making it to the top 2 but my fav stylist left is Nicholas.

  • chillj

I thought they received exactly ten votes for every tune bought that night.  It still seems to skew the vote; I knew there was no way Cassadee could go home after charting #1.  This seems to make song selection critical for performers, because a song can be over-used and less likely to be bought. I loved Nicholas’ rendition of Stand By Me this week, but how many versions of the same song can one person listen to?

  • tomr

Just bought 4 more of Melanie’s songs.  Love “Toxic”!  Just give me her first album now!  Love the uniqueness of her voice.

  • Reflects On Life

I’m very sorry that Sylvia is gone.  Her tone is very similar to Xtina’s, and that set her apart from the other pop singers who were vying for our attention this season.  I love her performance of Fighter (during knockout rounds?).  And it’s always nice to have a piano-singer in the competition.

Bryan + hat had such a laid-back style that it appeared like they weren’t even trying.  I imagine that didn’t endear him to potential fans.

I love Cody’s Jolene, but he hasn’t wowed me since.  I can’t remember what he has sung since.

Casidee sounded great on the Racal Flatts song.  I don’t know if that makes her a country singer, as Adam suggestedInstead, she’s a good soft-rock-ballad singer, and the soft-rock-ballad squarely belongs under the Country umbrella nowadays.  I like the vulnerability she has shown the past 2 weeks, and I wouldn’t mind if she won the whole thing. She might not be as good as some of her competitors, but she is a very good singer nonetheless, and she has the proverbial whole package. BUT given recent trends, the pop-rock world has supported only one “power-girl” voice at a time.  Avril, then Hayley/Paramore, now Carly Rae, with no overlap.  Can Casidee break into the music world right now, esp if everyone thinks she sounds like Carly-Rae-light?  She might have to wait her turn.

Melanie & Bryan sounded great duetting on the Team Adam song. His voice is a great counterpoint to hers, and somehow it brings forward her tone. Listen at 0:46-0:51 of that video.

Amanda is a singer’s singer, so extremely versatile, proficient, and technical, but I don’t think I’m hearing an identifiable tone. She might have been winner or runner-up on AI during its early seasons (AI 1-6), before the WGWG era took over.

Tomr, I have bought all of Melanie’s Itunes.  I love her tone and phrasing.  Very unique.  I played Seven Nation Army for my honey.  He had never heard the original and isn’t into singing shows though he himself is a muscian.  Anyway he listened to all of Melanies version and really liked her.  I then played the White Stripes version and he hated it. He then really appreciated how unique Melanie’s version was and how she made it fit her, her style and complete different.  He was floored by her age and said that kid has some real talent.  Of course I agreed.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jnoodles Jonathan Frahm

More or less my bad for not wording it well, but they get votes made through iTunes sales increased by 10 if they make it to the Top 10 charts.

    http://www.mjsbigblog.com/the-voice-top-10-itunes-rankings-cassadee-pope-takes-the-top-spot.htm

  • http://twitter.com/Loretta31 Loretta

I thought Sylvia and Teven would be voted off but Bryan didn’t impress me either.

Sylvia had the death spot and frankly she to my ears was a hot mess with pitch and control.

Byran is dull and nothing unique or different.  Yep he has a nice tone.  But he doesn’t perform.

Tevin while his vocals were off may have stolen some of Bryan’s votes because his performance was fun.

So I would say the vote off was accurate.

I do not believe Amanda was B4.  She was kept there for drama and to make Adam squirm.  My guess is Bam Bam or Dez was B4.  If it was Dez standing there Christina would have fainted dead away as she would have no one left.

  • Jordana33

Adam also signed Tony Luca to his record label and Cee Lo has a TV Christmas special where he invited at least 20 people on his past team to participate. Also, I love Cee Lo’s duet with Vicci.

  • http://twitter.com/Loretta31 Loretta

I think it was mostly  Blake and Meranda’s fans buying Cassadee’s song that drove it to #1.
