The Blind Auditions are over. Tomorrow night’s episode features something called “Best of the Blind Auditions” which sounds 100% FILLER-IFIC!

The Battle Rounds begin Monday October 8. The rules add a twist: each of the coaches will be able to steal two eliminated contestants from their fellow coaches teams.

Also, the celebrity mentors are thrown into the mix to help the coaches prepare their team for battle. The press release explains below. Also, check out the handy dandy guide to each of the coaches teams.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – October 3, 2012 – Tonight on NBC’s “The Voice” the blind auditions came to a close and coaches Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton each filled up their teams of 16 artists for season three. On Tuesday, October 2 (8-9 p.m. ET), a special “Best of the Blind Auditions” airs featuring never before seen footage of the coaches and each team.

Beginning Monday, October 8 (8-10 p.m. ET), the artists prepare for their chance to move forward in the competition. They will receive their battle pairing, valuable advice and song selection from their coach and respective team advisor.

The battle rounds will whittle down the 64 artists to the top 40. During the battle rounds, coaches pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. After the vocal face-off, coaches must then choose between their two artists to determine who will continue on in the competition.

A new twist to the format this season will allow each coach to be able to steal two artists from any other coaches’ team once they have been eliminated from that respective coach’s line-up. At the end of the battle rounds, each coach will have 10 members remaining on their team, eight original members and two stolen from other teams as they head into the knockout rounds and are one step closer to winning the competition.

God, it’s complicated this year – almost a chess game. People don’t watch TV to think too much.

  • quickjessie

I am LOVING this compilation – thank you SO much for this.  Really enjoying watching the videos and refining my list of who to watch for.

Thanks mj, this is really great.

  • teekee

I too am loving this compilation. Strange thing is that I’m liking some of these people a lot more watching the videos, than I did watching them on tv.

  • http://twitter.com/ItsMyT1me Lori

I applaud NBC and Mark Burnett for being so creative with The Voice. As much as I love Idol, the same tired formula copied by X Factor, even America’s Got Talent, and the smaller knock offs, just makes me appreciate the freshness of The Voice even more. There’s enough sameness once we’re down to the final XX (16 ? 12?).

I’m looking forward to the battle rounds. I think it’s helpful to hear the contestants trying to outsing each other LOL. You can almost compare them note to note and style to style.

Also intrigued with the judges steal. Last year there were good singers who lost out in this round who very well may have been picked up by another coach, had they had the chance.

    Bring it on!

  • hcpoirot

40 singers in the LIVE round is just too many . Expect them to be quickly cut to reach the final 4.

Probably like this: Top 40, Top 20, Top 16, Top 12, Top 8, Top 4.

Or they just make it quicker. Top 40, Top 20, Top 16, top 8, Top 4.

Again, with so many singers and limited weeks, the viewers at home cannot connect quick enough and will lost interest along the way. Lower rating in live round then people will forget the winner again when he/she come out with new album.

  • hcpoirot

Idol probably had the same boring format before the live round begin. But at least, we can get to know the singers when the live round begin. Not to mention few singers will get lot of camera time in audition and Hollywood weeks.

Idol will had 12 weeks of live rounds from top 24 to top 2. Compare with The VOice who had only around 7-5 weeks from top 40 to top 4.

  • chillj

Yikes!  Who can pay attention to 64 contestants?

  • hcpoirot

Ironic thing is most of us complain when in Idol, the producer gave some singers so much screen time before live round begin. Saying it is NOT FAIR.

But in the voice, most all of the singers get the same screen time when the battle round begin. And we (again) complain that we dont know enough of the singers cause The Voice give them almost all the same of screen time.

Maybe if The Voice give few lot of screen times in Battle round and then few very limited time for cannon fodder, so the viewers can know a few singers better? Just like Idol.

JUst Like Idol. Only Kelly Clarkson, David Cook and Kris Allen who had limited screen time before Live round begin win American idol. Others winners had tons and tons of screen times compare to the cannon fodders from their season.

  • lagom_lubot_si_mj

from what i heard, the 10 remaining contestants from each coach after the battle rounds will be cut down to just 5 before entering the live shows

this means that prior to the live shows, they will be performing against another one of their teammates in a knockout round but they do not have to sing the same song. it will be their own song choice, in their own style and arrangement presumably

  • alonzo7

Fun watching all the performances again-lots of cute young girls with similar styles-hard to distinguish between them.
The talent seems really good but one of my favs is Bryan Keith-could listen to him all day-I really like Adams team.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

This is way too many people for me to sort out. It will be interesting to see who makes it through to the meat and potatoes portion of the competition.

  • Quaribea

Reality show contestants are like TV stations.  People can watch 7, give or take a couple and the rest are totally ignored.  The Voice better trim down quick or there will be viewer fatigue and people will turn their attention to a more manageable group on another show.

  • julesb2183

Wow. 64 – nobody is going to know anyone this year. Especially if we only hear the people who go the farthest about 5 times, with weeks between each performance.

Somebody needs to chat with TPTB on The Voice and talk to them about their format, LOL

  • mjsbigblog

That’s nice to hear. Thanks. I was up REALLY LATE last night putting it together! lol.

  • http://twitter.com/Priya8888 Priya

… The list has the ages and their hometowns mixed up. Dez Duron is not 25 and is not from Chicago Heights lol/

  • Jordana33

    delete…wrong thread.
