The Voice 2 Finale – Recap and Videos

1st place – Jermaine Paul (Team Blake)
2nd place- Juliet Simms (Team Cee Lo)
3rd place – Tony Lucca (Team Adam)
4th place – Chris Mann (Team Christina)

Holy sh*t.  I so did not see that coming. Jermaine Paul??? Really?  I had him dead last on my prediction list and felt Blake had the weakest team overall. Granted, Jermaine performed as if he were singing for his LIFE last night. It was easily his best performance of the competition. But was this guy popular all season? Or did the causal vote, rather than a fanbase determine the winner?  Obviously, it wasn’t iTunes sales, because Jermaine came in last. And if you think about it–Tony Lucca did not win the viewer vote vs Katrina Parker last week.  When it comes down to it, perhaps he was a weaker player than he appeared.

And how about that…the two white guys came in last.

Perhaps, viewers vote for the coaches rather than the performances.  I could easily see Blake winning that contest.  Between Adam and Christina’s petty bickering over Tony Lucca, and Cee Lo’s weirdness–I can imagine viewers preferring Blake’s straight-shooting personality.

The close vote totals probably also contributed.  Carson announced that only 1/4 of a percentage point separated 3rd and fourth and only 4 percentage points separated 2nd and 1st. A few more votes, and Juliet Simms would have won in a less surprising outcome.

Hopefully, the record label will do a better job of marketing Jermaine than they did Javier, whose post-Voice debut  sold poorly–like 133Kish his first week.  If record producers can manage to update Jermaine’s sound, he might sell some records–or at least be successful on the R&B charts. I think he’s got a better chance at post show success than either Tony or Juliet.  I loved Juliet and was hoping, as she stood on stage with Jermaine, that she was the winner. But there is NO market for the classic rock style she prefers.  Tony is a strummy HAC guy, and we Idol fans know by now that they are hard to market.  Chris could have possibly sold to the Suebo set with the right songs. But where is the hook? His voice is no better than adequate and he’s got no backstory to sell like Susan Boyle.

The finale itself was a total bore.  If I had cared at all about the contestants they brought back from past rounds, maybe I would have enjoyed the group performances more. But as it was, I had to use a list of the Top 24 to set names to faces and figure out what team they were on. We just did not see these contestants enough to get to know them.

The highlight of the night for me, was Hall and Oats who basically showed the contestants what GOOD SANGIN is all about.  Carson’s constant teasing of the Justin Beiber appearance was annoying. When he finally graced the stage,  his performance did NOT live up to the hype. That song “Boyfriend” is terrible and Bieber cannot sing live.

Season 3 of The Voice starts up in just a few months and I can’t say I’m looking forward to it.  There are some major problems that I”m not sure are fixable without completely re-hauling the format. The most entertaining phase of the show are the blind auditions, which come first. The next phase, the battle rounds, are dull and gimmicky. And it sucks to see good singers lose the rounds.  The live shows are too short, and it’s frustrating to see a strong team lose their members. Top vote getters should be eliminated regardless of team affiliation, like the X Factor.  If a coach is eventually left with no team? Well it sucks to be you! At least the finalists would be the strongest group possible.

Goodbye The Voice. I can’t really say I’m going to miss you.

Who will win The Voice Season 2? Tonight we find out. I’ll be live blogging results right here.

Carson introduces the four finalists on stage: Tony Lucca (Team Blake), Juliet Simms (Team Cee Lo), Chris Mann (Team Christina) and Jermaine Paul (Team Blake).

First up, of course, a recap of last night. Blake believes Jermaine can do anything. He thinks it’s cool the the Final Four is so diverse. Christina loves the energy in the room! All four have earned a spot on the show. Cee Lo is wearing a t shirt with the names of all his team members written on it. Adam says all 4 of the contestants have earned his respect. He’s OK with any outcome.

Jermaine Paul (Team Blake) chooses contestants, Pip (Team Adam), Jamar Rogers (Team Cee Lo) and James Massone (Team Cee Lo) to sing “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5 – That was actually pretty entertaining.

Now, it’s time for a funny video featuring bloopers and such starring the coaches. Zz.

Flo Rida performs a medley of his hits with Juliet Simms. This is very weird and sloppy.

Aw. Look. Christina’s daughter is sitting on her lap. Is that a fan Xtina is holding to hide her face?

Chris Mann chooses Lindsey Paveo (Team Christina) and Katrina Parker (Team Blake)  to sing “Bittersweet Symphony” By The Verve. Katrina blowing everyone off the stage, ya’ll. That was a little trainwrecky at first but came together at the end.

Flo Rida talks to twitter chick backstage. I am not going to miss her.

Another coach-centered video that’s all about the “bromance” between Blake and Adam. Zz.

Darryl Hall and John Oats sing “Rich Girl” YAY!!!! with Chris Mann, Jermaine Paul and Tony Lucca singing backups. Best performance of the night. Can they win The Voice please?

Another video. More “fun” with the coaches.  I do not care.

A group performance featuring Cheesa, Matthai, Kim Yarbrough, Sera Hill–  Basically, it’s the Ladies With Big Voices singing Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition”.

This bit with Ceelo on the set of Parks & Rec is HILARIOUS. I love Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson!

Juliet Simms chooses RaeLynn (Team Blake), Erin Willett (Team Blake) and Jamar Rogers (Team Cee Lo) to sing “A Little Help From My Friends.” Kind of a scream-a-thon in parts, but pretty good.

Twitter chick is backstage with Juliet, RaeLynn, Jamar and Erin.  Compliments all around! Despite not feeling well last night, Juliet felt great on stage last night.

Nowww a video dedicated to Perfect the cat. Adam and Blake hate the cat, who is actually rented for the show. Right. Not really Cee Lo’s cat.

Lady Antebellum take the stage to sing “I Wanted You More”.  Not a fan of Lady A’s faux country stylings. Plus…Pitchy!

Tony Lucca brings back Jordis Unga (Team Blake) (ROBBED!) to sing “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac. Wasn’t crazy about that, even Jordis’ part.

After an SNL skit parodying Ceelo, we are backstage with twitter chick talking to the contestants.

Oh by the way, JUSTIN BIEBER is coming up. Bet you didn’t know that. Carson has only reminded us a zillion times.

Wait what? A video package focused on the contestants? I don’t think we’ve seen enough of the coaches! *ahem*. OH BOY THE FINAL 4 all WIN A CAR FROM KIA. They can choose any model.

Did you know that Justin Bieber is coming? Carson tells us one more time.

Justin Beiber FINALLY takes the stage to sing his single “Boyfriend” and it’s…hm. He’s not a good live singer. He’s quite the fancy dancer, however.

Twitter chick is backstage with the Top 4, where Chris Mann snarks on the Biebs. Why you be hatin, man?

FINALLY THE RESULTS. Ugh. Now Carson is chatting up the contestants. WE DON’T CARE. TELL US WHO WON. Carson says the race was close.

1st place – Jermaine Paul (Team Blake)
2nd place- Juliet Simms (Team Cee Lo)
3rd place – Tony Lucca (Team Adam)
4th place – Chris Mann (Team Christina)

    Performances of their lives? I don’t think so. They all could have done better.

  • Anonymous

    I’ll be happy with no WGWG getting the title of The Voice…
    Any of the others would do it! *Juliet to be exact lol*

  • Anonymous

    Maybe Jamar will perform today! :)

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

    Even though I think I already know who has won this, I’m looking forward to some of the celebrity performers.

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    Jamar and Lindsey are performing I think.

    For the ones looking for a stream, tvnutters is working as of now…

    Tony won’t have a career Carson. He will be forgotten soon.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Oddly enough, I’m curious about how Bieber will sound.  The last time I heard him was before Xmas, and he sang that mistletoe song really badly (but his voice was changing or something?). lol

  • Anonymous

    Yeah Jamar is back! I hope he gets a solo part…

  • fuzzywuzzy

    He may have some modest success, but to me, he is too much like Groban and not nearly as good. He needs to distinguish himself somehow.

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    I hope some of the contestants get to perform by themselves. I don’t really want them stuck in a group. sigh.

  • Anonymous

    wooo background singer gets his own background singers :D

  • fuzzywuzzy

    The selection process doesn’t work very well on this show. Better singers leave too early just because they are on the wrong team.

  • Anonymous

    This is fun! All four of them could have done better if they were allowed to picked their own songs….

  • jersey

    I kind of love this performance with Jermaine, Jamar, Pip and James!

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    I am probably the only person in the world who was never much a fan of Michael Jackson’s music.

  • Anonymous

    This Massone guy hair is so distracting…

  • sf3456

    I’m distracted by the bubbles in the background.

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    Tony like Groban? I think you thought I was talking about Chris,lol.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1489592620 Wendy Finlayson O’Connell

    OMG!  Loved the boys!  James was the best he’d been all season!  So fun.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    That was a fun number!  Jamar really deserves to be in the final 4 way more than Jermaine.

  • Anonymous

    I’m still shocked that James Massone was never ever given an R&B/Pop song to sing. I think it proves that Ceelo didn’t want him to go far…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

    I almost started giggling when Carson told us what song they were doing but I have to admit I enjoyed it.   Ha!

    The boys group was good, that was fun

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    yeah, but they can’t change that too much since it’s a franchising from a dutch show

  • Anonymous

    Yes Carson, Jermaine, Jamar, Pip and James should be in a boy group! Better than The Wanted!

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Oh, I did think that you were talking about Chris!  Sorry.  I still think what I posted though. lol

  • Anonymous

    I loved that performance. Jermaine, Jamar, Pip, and James were great.

  • pj

    That was fun.  Wish Jamar didn’t have to be on the same team as Juliet.  I like him more.  More than the other three guys too.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    James Massone wearing that hairband is kind of strange. lol

  • Anonymous

    LOL at Xtina Vol.2 calling Jermaine Jamar!!! Lmao!

  • Anonymous

    I love how Jermaine just called Jamar the “Heart and Soul of season 2″…what a humble thing to say. It also tells me that Jamar is a stand-up guy since several of the contestants have said something nice about him…

  • Anonymous

    LOVED the first foursome!  Excellent start….and wish the season had more entertainment that fun.  I could only stomach about 51 percent of the season….realllly boring for me.

  • pj

    I don’t get it. Not attractive.

    FloRida and Juliet? this can’t be good :/

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    I love this “whistle” song. So catchy!

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    Poor Juliet. She still sounds sick.
    *Disregard the reply to myself,lol.

  • Anonymous

    Was that supposed to be fun? Oh well, I guess they lack more material as they are focus on the judges rather than the contestants…

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Juliet and FloRida?  Odd pairing.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Did they have to put Juliet with that CRAP?

  • jersey

    Who’s idea was it to have Juliette sing with Flo Rida? Their voices do not mesh at all!

  • fuzzywuzzy

    If she has pneumonia as CeeLo said, that can take a while to get rid of. Gee. That was really underwhelming.

    “@JulietSimmsALL Sick as a dog but I guess it doesn’t matter at this point! Rock n’ roll baby!”

    This is going to be weird! Chris, Katrina and Lindsey…

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    LOVE this trio. They mash so well! They all 3 sound great!

  • Anonymous

    Hmmm…Chis is my least favorite of the 3…lol. Girl Power!

  • pj

    Lindsey’s vocals don’t work with Katrina and Chris.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Lindsey always sounds out of tune when singing with anyone.

  • Valentin432

    Strange version of Bittersweet Symphony, I don’t think it worked.

  • jersey

    I like this group performance too.

  • Anonymous

    Lindsey’s style isn’t meant for group sing or harmonizing LOL

  • http://twitter.com/bbmetsfan andy

    This is not working, either.

  • Anonymous

    I freakin’ love these three……..

    oh, well, for the most part.  just as i typed that it got weird.  it’s pretty good which is slightly less than freakin’ good.

  • sf3456

    Every time Adam Levine pops up on screen, I want to punch my TV.

  • pj

    I know a lot of people like Lindsey, but I guess I just see her as a Feist wanna be.  Certainly not a singer to do a group song like that.  :-(

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    I bet Tony wants to sing with himself.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

    Katrina blowing everyone off the stage, ya’ll.

    So true mj.  The girl owned that performance.  I’m sad she’s not in the top 4 because she just proved she belonged to be there.

  • Nele621

    I like how they mix up the groups. So how many times is Carson going to mention Beiber? I understand that he is a super duper international star, but does he think we’re going to forget Bieber is going to be performing?

  • jersey

    Lindsay’s voice is a little strange when she’s singing with others, but I still enjoyed the performance.

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    I want to see Christina snub him again!

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    I agree that Katrina was the best of the 3 on that performance. But I still love my Lindsey!

  • Nele621

    Of course Mann is not as good as Grobin. Grobin became really successful because of his amazing talent. Mann is still trying to make it big because he is just decently talented. I like him, tho.

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    I hope Raelynn comes back! I need more trainwreck!
    And the Cat needs to make more appearances.

    Wow, I saw H n O in 1985.  My favs were Rich Girl, She’s Gone, and Sarah Smile.

  • pj

    Hall and Oates and General Public were my first concert.  Von Braun Civic Center.  LOL.

  • Anonymous

    Is this a sign that Jermaine would keep as a back up singer??? Not a nice portray..

  • Nele621

    Oops. Carson forgot to say “Bieber” before this commercial break.

  • jersey

    LOL, “this band” had about 40 zillion hit songs in the 80’s. Daryl Hall has a cool web show called Live from Daryl’s House with old a nd current artists jamming in his barn. Very cool show.

  • Anonymous

    I was born in the 80s, but grew up listening to Hall & Oates. So many great songs. I still love them!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

    Hall & Oates were part of my early childhood.  I have to admit these guys made good backup singers although we know that’s something Jermaine obviously want to put in his past.

    I quite enjoyed that performance.

  • pj

    Haven’t seen the show.  My first concert.  Must be showing our ages!

    This whole show is so contrived.  I don’t see the appeal of any of the performers. I really don’t have an attachment to any of them and don’t care who wins. Why am I here?  For sh!ts and giggles I guess… sigh.

    this was dreadful for me…stop ladies!

  • fuzzywuzzy

    lol Do any of the contestants like him enough to want to sing with him?

    Last night Carson said that there would be a live performance by the judges but he hasn’t mentioned it tonight. I wonder if it was nixed because of the Adam Xtina drama?

    Why does The Voice keep reminding us that Jamar got cheated out of a final spot? It further highlights the bad format. :/

    They need to turn up the volume on the mics or turn down the band.

    I liked that group number much better than Chris/Katrina/Lindsey.

    Hopefully Juliet. Just because I don’t want the one with the judge carrying so much of that drama and baggage that has been going on throughout this season. And I actually like Tony’s sound, but can he sell with the kind of music he makes? I don’t know.

    I just want to say how amazing it is that there is such great respect between the contestants that I’m seeing, that gets lost in the shuffle with accusations of people being a diva and rivalry foolishness.

    Lady A was off key on pretty much the whole song, not good. Was purrfect singing?

    Geez another 40 minutes to go! zzzzzzz  to Lady Antebellum.  Their voices weren’t meshing at all either.

  • pj

    I like Purrfect the cat.  :-)  I’m always suspicious of men who don’t like cats unless they are allergic.  I’m looking at you Adam and Blake.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    I actually think the guy is a pretty good singer, but that is just me.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    The screaming/bluesy/gritty voice of Juliet is so much more impressive than her soft/nasal voice. I would like a good coach to tell her about that.

  • Anonymous

    You would be drunk enough for the rest of the year within the next 15 minutes…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

    Look, it’s Jordis!  Yay!

  • jersey

    Jordis!

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    YES! Jordis is coming back! Whoo Hoo!

  • Anonymous

    Jordis was at her best during her audition…

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    Funny how Tony only picked one person. I bet nobody liked him. You can GO YOUR OWN WAY out the door Tony!

  • Anonymous

    Michael Johns wipes the floor with Tony, heh.

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    I tried really hard to like Jordis this season. She didn’t do anything at all to win me over. I never got the hype.

  • sf3456

    Every time Tony Lucca pops up on screen, I want to punch the TV.

  • Anonymous

    Wow, isn’t this the first time on the show that Jordis has actually showed off her tattoos?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Jordis, plz, destroy Tony!

  • Anonymous

    Tony is so annoying when he performs omg.

  • steph6449

    Not loving Tony and Jordis. Jordis sounds flat, and Tony is…being Tony.
    .

    So far the profile on the rent-a-cat was the best part for me, this is a fairly long show. Or well, I enjoyed seeing Jamar back and some of the groups have been pretty good.

    Lady A didn’t sound very good, and Hall & Oates seemed to struggle a bit IMO.

  • Trina

    Ew shut up Tony. Carrie Underwood rocked this song with David Cook.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

    As far as this duet goes, Tony Lucca is no Lindsey Buckingham.  Just sayin Great to see Jordis though.

  • Anonymous

    Wow, they’re good together…….

  • pj

    Jordis is a good sport.  She sounds so much better than Tony, but isn’t trying to out perform him.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    The guitarist of the Voice seems to be really badass! I’d like to know his name.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Gee. This song is exposing just how mediocre Tony really is.

  • Anonymous

    I’m just liking half of this performance. Thank you Jordis! <3

  • jersey

    Lol at all the Tony hate. I find him way too bland to hate. Plus I do kind of think Xtina was a tad harsh with him this season.

  • sf3456

    Funny how Tony only picked one person. I bet nobody liked him. You can GO YOUR OWN WAY out the door Tony!

    I bet he had to pay Jordis to sing with him.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

    I really am enjoying this finale; the mix matching of contestants across is great.  This whole night reflects that all of them are great entertainers and this night seems like a night of concert of all the contestants.  It makes the blow softer for me when at the end Tony is crown as I’ll remember the performances more :)

  • Anonymous

    Tony and P2 have someting in common besides WGWG, no vocal range.

  • Anonymous

    Well Carson, I was going to take a nap until the winner is announced, but NOW since you said Justin Bieber is coming up next…

  • fuzzywuzzy

    So who will have the great honor of performing with Justin?  lol

  • Anonymous

     Personally, I don’t hate Tony. I just can’t stand the (fake?) drama surrounding Christina, Adam and him.

  • Nele621

    To look at Tony’s expression, he appears to be an amazing vocalist. To hear him, he falls short. How did he get this far? Last season, The Voice had such good vocalists in the top eight and more.

  • Anonymous

    Wow, lots of Tony hate goin’ on here………… :(

  • Anonymous

    Does anybody like anybody???????

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    Yay! More purrrfect!

  • Anonymous

    I like Juliett, lol

  • Anonymous

    Gee! I wonder if Justin Beiber will be on tonight? Maybe tomorrow?

  • pj

    I enjoy the hella out of this show.  It doesn’t take itself too seriously.  The feuds?  I think they are fake as hell. ;=)

  • Anonymous

    The show would be sooo much shorter without this backstage interview crap.

  • pj

    I like the kitties, too.  Rented or not as long as they get love and are cared for properly.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Did anyone notice the ausence of Jesse Campbel?

  • Anonymous

    I thought tonight was about knowing who the winner of The Voice rather than whatever Justin Bieber is going to *lip synch* perform…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

    Holy cow!  All four of them received a car!  Nice!

  • Valentin432

     Way too much filler.

  • Anonymous

    Poll: Would you rather have a free Kia or a free Ford?

  • Nele621

    Who’s that?

  • Anonymous

    A few of the contestants from the teams aren’t there. Matthai and Ashley. What happened?

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    so much filler.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    New cars!  Nice perk!

  • Anonymous

    Tony does have a smidgen more range than P2.

  • Anonymous

     I like Purrrfect!

  • Anonymous

    New Cars for all 4!   Nice!

  • Anonymous

    What about Jesse Campbell???

  • Nele621

    A Honda.

  • Anonymous

    Without having to choose brands, it was kind of cool they could choose any of the models they like the best. Nice treat!

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    I rather have a Lexus.

  • Anonymous

    A new car is nice compensation for Jermaine, Tony and Juliet. Yep I think Chris is going to win.

  • Nele621

    A person with four notes would have more range than P2.

  • pj

    Maybe Xtina will snub the Beibs again. ;-)  Hope so.

    He cannot rap.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Jesse, Erin, Tony and Charlotte were missing. Interesting that these 4 had kinda of an arrogant behaviour during the show.

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    I don’t like Justin Bieber. Time for a potty break!

  • sf3456

    A Nissan.

  • Anonymous

    Bieber raps now?…since when?…so lame.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    It looks like Justin is really singing, but it’s kind of a half-rap/half-sung song.

  • Anonymous

    Justin B should go away for 5 to 10 and maybe grow up. This is awful!

  • Anonymous

    its time like this that makes me wonder about our our children they must be so  absolutely devoid of any musical taste.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    Why can’t people sing on their own these days without all that backing track? Just sounds awful.

  • pj

    That was not good, and also a tad creepy for all the sexual dancing. He looks twelve.

  • Anonymous

    Lol @ Biber saying “swag”

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

    Glad that performance is finally over.  Like I said last night, I’m certainly not Bieber’s target audience.  Heh

  • Anonymous

    the clap was real!

  • Nele621

    Bieber was not lip synching, that’s for sure. What was my first clue?

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    Heh. You can tell those 3 contestants hate Tony. Just observe them.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Bieber’s performance: 80% of it is clearly lyp sync ( the backing track at least). There’s a chance that 20% aren’t.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Me neither.  It does sound like there was a lot of “melting” in the audience though.  lol

  • Anonymous

    lol…You guys were suppose to choose a free car as an Idol finalist or a free car as The Voice finalist. The only choice is only Ford or Kia. You guys are stubborn…hehe. :)

  • Anonymous

    Yep, he’s been working it in his performances……  He’s growing up….:)

  • fuzzywuzzy

    I think that Justin was really singing, but there was also a backing track to “help” him out.  ;)

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

    It does sound like there was a lot of “melting” in the audience though.

    Definitely.  I totally expected it.  lol

  • Anonymous

    This finale of The Voice had been kind of lifeless… But after enduring this season, it’s fair enough to endure the last few minutes of it…

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    Well not really. I hate Bieber as much as the next person. I also can’t stand when us younger folks get dissed for liking current music. Older music isn’t the only Holy Grail of everything. Some of it sucks. Some current music is really really good. It is nice for music to NOT be serious all the time. Just my two cents. And yes…I do like some older bands.

  • Anonymous

    Is that supposed to make it better or worse?

    Tired of TV reenforcing double standards, capitalizing on hate and pitting viewers against each other to get ratings (not that it’s working for them considering the declining ratings.) This show is worse than Fox News.  They should rename it The Toxic. It sure as hell isn’t about the voice.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Justin does look very young for his age.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    but the backing track was kind 80% of it…I heard what’s supposed to be a real voice only 20% of the time.

  • Anonymous

     Finally, the results!

  • Anonymous

    Voice lessons Justin. You should have taken them between albums, OK? Your performance was weak.

  • Anonymous

    any minute now…soon…..right after the break….i feel exhausted…Flo’Rida and who??
    the 4 male singers performing Michael were great….

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Oh, I see what you mean.  Yes, all of the layered vocals were on the backing track, but at the same time, I do think that Justin was singing/rapping live. It’s hard to tell how well he’s singing when the backing track is so dominant.

  • Anonymous

    OMG are they going the drag these results out for the next 10 minutes! Sheesh!

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    LOL The Toxic Hahaha

    Is the “Dim the lights” phrase that Ryan uses trademark to idol? I soooo need to hear it about now LOL!!!

    So maybe Juliet first, Jermaine second?

    ETA: or the other way around, lol. Well, he seems like a nice guy. Surprising result though but I am happy Tony didn’t get it anyway.

    SO glad Tony Lucca lost.
    HATE that Juliet lost!!!

  • pj

    I’m not mad at this.  If Juliet hadn’t been sick and Cee Lo had given her a better song than Freebird, she may have won.  I don’t mind Jermaine.  I wish it had been Jamar or Jordis though.

    YES!!!!

    I had no stake in this, so I am totally cool with Jermaine. He looks genuinely grateful and look how happy Blake is. So cute!

    Don’t feel bad for Juliet people. She is definitely getting signed. Jermaine kind of deserved it after last night. I was hoping she would pull through that cold.

    Jermaine never was too good on i-tunes. Sure they’ll invest much more on Juliet.

    So Jermaine pulled it out!?  HOT DAYUM!!  He really did kick ass last night!

    This is the last one I thought would win LOL.

    Wth is that Christina is wearing, eesh. Looks like sequined granny panties :O

    Sweet to see Jermaine so happy with his family. I hope he gets some real career boost out of this, I didn’t watch last season where the reports of the winner’s promo didn’t sound too impressive.

  • Anonymous

    I think the two white guys cancelled each other out. Congrats to Jermaine but I won’t be buying his music. Wish Juliet had won.

  • Anonymous

    awe…the ugly cry!  sweet!

  • Anonymous

    I thought Jermaine’s 73% in the semis was a fluke.  Guess I should have given it more credit…

  • fuzzywuzzy

    I feel OK about the result.  Jermaine peaked at the right time and he seems like he really appreciates it.  Juliet should be signed. I’m just really glad that Tony didn’t win. I guess that JT and JB’s followers aren’t such sheep after all.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    The feud between Xtina and Adam just screwed their contestants…lol

  • Listening

    YES! Chris Mann didn’t win America finally cleaned out their ears. Wow surprised Jermaine won I said earlier he had no shot boy was I wrong. Umm just didn’t see it coming wasn’t he the lowest on itunes.  I’m so through using Itunes as a gauge on who’s ahead on the voice. It’s obviously down to texting and calling. Welp a girl didn’t win but it certainly wasn’t another WGWG.

  • Anonymous

    Four finalist to split the vote and a limit on the number of votes per method/line could make for some strange results. Carson said millions voted but I doubt that many people did vote. Anyway, it was still shocking.

  • http://twitter.com/Jakeysnakey19 Jake Williams

    Lol! Women are pissed on twitter right now about Tony losing!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Guilherme-Santos/100000846666929 Guilherme Santos

    hahahaha, what a joke… Seems that Blake made the most to get people voting for Jermaine… Thats the problem with the voice, its not about who is the most popular, has more fans, has the best talent.. Its about who has the best famous endorsement. Another fail winner.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

    I have to give it to The Voice; not only the judges had made surprises so had the voters!!! Congrats Jermaine, the cougar votes won ;)

  • Anonymous

    Chris and Tony were close. I think having less votes makes a difference. Or Alicia Keys.

  • Anonymous

    I think people vote for the star they like the best.  Christina and Adam cancelled each other outs as douches.  I think Blake is well liked and Jermaine is a man supporting a family that will always trump a women.  He seems like a nice guy I think he really thinks his career  track has changed  not so sure about that but  He believes He can fly so I wish him the best.

    Sooo….notice a trend on the Voice? Only black males can win now ;)

    Congrats Jermaine.

  • Anonymous

    Um are u sure it is America who wasn’t hearing right?

  • Valentin432

    I Believe I Can Fly did trend at the top of twitter during all the show yesterday, but I thought it was related to various different things and not only Jermaine’s performance.
    Blake may have campaigned hard, I know that Kelly C did tweet in support of Jermaine so maybee others did as well.

    This is still bizarre as hell.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XB67F3WJOZTRYMUCGCRBAJ5UAA James

    wow! this is fascinatingly entertaining
    did not expect this one (good for him)
    more results like this please

  • Anonymous

    maybe the US version of The Voice is starting their own special trend LOL!

    this is hilarious.  and while i don’t really hate Jermaine (i guess this is better than Tony), i think he might go the way of Javier’s trajectory, possibly even worse haha

  • Anonymous

    So maybe Christina’s attitude hurt Chris.

  • Anonymous

    Wow. Didn’t see that coming. Juliet was my favorite, but at this point, I was on Team Anyone But Tony. Congrats to Jermaine.

  • Anonymous

    Your mouth to the voters ears!

  • Anonymous

    “Who has been voting for Jermaine!?”

    Alicia Keys fans, of course. She has been criticized in the past for not doing enough to help Jermaine get started, but she definitely has be supporting him on the show. This is what she tweeted to her 7.3 million followers last night:”Alicia Keys ? @aliciakeysDid y’all see @JermainePaul tonight??? Lets help him win!! VOTE NOW! #TheVoice “

  • Anonymous

    I just think he’s faawwwine!  Two great lookin’ black guys take the voice 1 and 2! Take that WGWG Idol! I’m completely happy with the result…  and this is the first full episode I’ve watched since the audition/chair episodes!  lol

    Christina got third place last year, and now fourth?
    I would quit if I was her. Just sayin :P

    I only watched the last five minutes, but it was worth it to see the shock on Tony Lucca’s face.

    Happy that Jermaine won, if not Juliet, glad it was Jermaine as he had his best night kast night. Blakr must have rocketed himself out of his seat Five feet, he was so excited.

  • Anonymous

    Watching last night I thought Jermaine was the best performer, and I guess a lot of other people agreed lol . I’m happy for him, still wished Jamar had won though, but you can’t always get what you want.

  • Anonymous

    How lovely that neither Christina and Adam won. I’m actually pleased now, lol.

  • Anonymous

    Wtf???? So idol is the show for wgwgs.. the x factor is currently in the girls column.. and the voice is for blacks guys….this is hilarious…I guess ppl on the blogs have different opinions than the general public.. well at least blake will give him some publicity.. b/c the voice sure won’t….

    I guess the R&B vote is more powerful than we thought..and Jermaine had that voting block all to himself….this is the biggest shocker of any singing competition…I’m literally lol rite now

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    I am still laughing my ass off. Thanks for the laughs,The Voice. I’m shocked, SHOCKED Tony and Chris were not top two. I blame this rival nonsense for screwing them both over, as I don’t think people wanted a bitter Xtina, or a douche bag combo of Adam and Tony to win. All that in-fighting did more harm than good for them, and poor Chris never participated in the foolishness.

    I’m sad for Juliet as she would have been an interesting winner, but Jermaine might have a decent R&B career ahead of him. I’m still taken aback by the results though, though I’m not mad. Just laughing. LOL ;D

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/GEE7ION6BPL2BYNNHADS6AVCJM wutwut

    I’m happy for Blake haha.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Can I start a politically incorrect theory? he’s not a consistent vocalist, but very handsome and athletic. And, while arrogant, he’s confident and looks like someone with a big heart. He may has started a “jungle fever” in some housewives watching the show. Girls (people voting) don’t care too much for colour, as some people just think. That’s not supposed to be  biased. Just a theory. He was the last pick of anyone, we need theories :P

  • Anonymous

    And Jermaine had his best night in finale which helps plus he cones across as nice guy with a much beloved coach. Blake fans mightvhave helped Jermaine too

  • Anonymous

    okay so to sum it up.  this season is clearly inferior to the first season.  this season kind of dragged out for too long especially in the early stages.  the final 4 from the first season were overall better than this current one.

    however having said that i’m still quite entertained, at least more than that other show.  at least this show has some wtf factor, craziness, cheesiness and unpredictability going for it.  maybe in the next few seasons this will get old but for now i’m enjoying it.

  • Anonymous

    I liked Jermaine far better than Tony

  • fuzzywuzzy

    I just noticed that Tiger Woods voted for Jermaine, and Kim Kardashian told her followers to vote for him.  Looks like Miranda and Blake were advocating for Jermaine on twitter too. lol

  • pj

    Nah, 10 mill is a nice paycheck.

  • Anonymous

    Oh yeah!  And he was one of Kelly’s guys!  Even sweeter!

  • Anonymous

    It is not like white guys never win these shows

  • mickeybordentwo

    I think casual first time voters might have made a difference (I know I voted for the first and only time last night) and Jermaine’s duet with Blake was simply the most fun of the performances last night.

    I was just looking at Twitter, and Reba McEntire tweeted last night to vote for Jermaine.

    Jermaine is local to my area, and the local paper is going to go berserk tomorrow. WNBC (NYC) news already led with his win, stressing his New York connection

    I also think Juliet made a big mistake changing hair colors (wigs, I assume). You go with the look that brung ya.

  • Anonymous

    Well, this is what happens when people vote against the judges and not the contestants. The Adam-haters and the Christina-haters ruined their contestants chances of winning. As much as I liked Juliet, I knew that her being sick would ruin her chances of winning.  So basically, in a competition that started off with so many good singers, Jermaine won by default.   I can’t believe this is the same audience that voted last year.

  • Anonymous

    Yes he did great last night,good for Jermaine

  • Anonymous

    So happy for Jermaine even though he wasn’t my favorite.

    Someone needs to tell Christina to put the girls away and put some pants on. Sorry, but she has no class at all!!

  • Anonymous

    out of the 4, I would have guessed Jermaine had the least chance to win, But good for him :)

  • Anonymous

    As far as the voting goes I think it was confusing how the iTunes votes were counted. A lot of people buying Chris or Tony’s duets might have thought they were voting for the contestants with those buys.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    You know…you could be right. At least that makes sense out of something that I am not understanding at the moment.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Blake was joking telling that a lot of people, including tiger woods, obama, the pope and even the other coaches were voting for Jermaine. I think casual votes from people who find him attractive ( from all the races) got him there.

    Not he’s a bad singer, but he has been so inconsistent. It’s hard to believe.

    “I now hold out hope P2 gets booted this week LOL”

    If only he had another WGWG to split votes with… :)

  • pj

    I think the votes are less predictable because they are limited! More emphasis on nightly performances and less on rabid fanbases.  Idol, think about it.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

    I think otherwise; The Voice would double her pay if she leaves.  Come what may; its because of her everyone still talks about The Voice.  Adam however  has made it known he’s in to win regardless whose voice is better, new contestants will be wary.  Xtina however comes across as an overly protective coach but contestants would prefer that.  Blake comes across as an emphatic coach but no back bone, while Ceelo is just being Ceelo (I have no idea what type of coach he is).  His greatest success was making Purrfect a star ;)

  • Anonymous

    Melanie won X factor so there is always hope

  • Jae

    Wow!  I voted a lot for Jermaine but I really didn’t think he had any hope of winning.  Very happy for him.  And for Juliette taking 2nd over the guys. All 4 will get contracts so its all good.  I think Blake will be so much a better post win asset and mentor for Jermaine than Adam was for Javier.  And let’s not forget Alicia Keys.  Hopefully Universal will do a better job of promo for him and keeping/getting him in the public eye than they did last year.

    Well, glad that is over. Hopefully for the year with some revamps for the next time it comes around.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Blake tweets with President Obama and the Pope? lol

    If Jeramine wins, probably Joshua will win AI 11… Yes finally hope for

  • pj

    I think he’s attractive, but I hate anything associated with R Kelley so would never have voted for him last night.  Soul Man was fun.  I didn’t vote all season though.

  • Anonymous

    I am pleased she was runnerup and beat out Tony and Chris

  • Anonymous

    I thought Jermaine was pretty forgettable last night but he was better than before. I actually only enjoyed his country song.

  • Anonymous

    Jungle fever? Really? In 2012?

  • Anonymous

    Well, the theory really – is the greenhouse effect….planted from day one via Alicia Keyes and the “business”.

    I however, liked him from the beginning.  I remember his interaction with Blake when he was chosing a Coach could have sounded a bit arrogant and I worried he wouldn’t make it far.  Glad I got to miss most of the shows…he remained my fav.

  • Valentin432

    And I Believe I Can Fly is back at trending at the top of tweeter.

    Maybee we all had a giant blind spot for the people who loved Jermaine all along.  If he did have all those celebrity endorsements, that could go a long way.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    No. It’s not a racial or guitar issue. It’s a beauty issue. I bet even white teen girls find Jermaine very attractive. None of them think the same about Joshua who’s clearly a much better singer than Jermaine.

  • Anonymous

    I agree with you in everything you said, except the xtina thing about being protective, at least not after eliminating the best voice in the show Jesse Campbell, just because she made him sing “Halo” and he didn’t show enough growth in it. Lol.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    It totally is karma on both of them. A way of showing all that bitter rival stupidity will not be rewarded. Blake and CeeLo were never involved in that mess. But, based on that twitter controversy with CeeLo (ah, don’t send death threats on twitter next time, CeeLo) may have cost Juliet the votes too. The more I think about, the mechanics were there for a Jermaine win.

  • Jae

    I feel like this.  I was still sort of ticked at Adam for picking Tony over Katrina and I was ticked at Xtina for being bitchy to Tony all season.  So I am happy that Blake and Cee Lo’s people got 1 and 2.

  • Listening

    I don’t think it was the celebrity endorsement that pushed Jermaine into the win b/c Tony had Justin. I knew followers were just good for trending. I guess power voters just connected more w/ Jermaine and probably casual fans. Whereas for Tony Itunes buyers connected more w/ him.

    I think Jermaine was of the same mind as many of us that he didn’t have a shot at winning he looked resigned. I just rewatched the reveal and when Carson said the 4th place finisher no big deal since 4th and 3rd was close. Then he gets ready to announce 3rd place and Tony sort of grabbed Jermaine’s shoulder as if to say i’m offering comfort and support b/c you’re about to get some disappointing news. But then Carson said Tony’s name and Juliet’s jaw dropped. Probably mine too as I went whaaaaaat. By now Jermaine must be thinking OMG I could actually win this thing, especially when Carson mentioned how close 2nd and 1st place were. Jermaine just looked down the entire time so stoic my guess is he was praying hard while tears ran down Juliet’s face as they waited for Carson to say who won.

    What’s the common thing between Jermaine Paul and Melanie Amaro? They both sang “I Believe I Can Fly”. Could it be a lucky song?
    Did anyone sing it this year in Idol? I don’t remember. But Josh sang “I Believe”. So, maaaaaybe that should count for something. :P

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

    I’m looking forward to Jermaine’s success; I believe with Blake as his coach he’ll have that extra assistance :)  I also do believe Jermaine has the backup from his ex-boss and others he knows in the industry, now that he had The Voice as a platform it will be easier for friends to help and promote him.

  • Jae

    He sang the best on the last show. That’s my theory. Doesn’t hurt that he looks like a professional football player either and comes off as a nice guy. And Blake was the least annoying coach this entire year. And Blake did Soul Man with him! That was a great duet. :)

  • Anonymous

    Jacob sang “I Believe I Can Fly” last year on Idol & didn’t win. So it can’t be a lucky song.

  • Anonymous

    I meant from December 2011, it’s considered a lucky song.
    And just FYI, I was joking.

  • http://www.facebook.com/sharilbus Sharil Brown

    Congratulations to Jermaine.  I am very happy for Jermaine and Blake.  Blake was definitely excited and he will be blowing twitter up once he comes back down to earth.

    I can pretty much guarantee the Jermaine got a lot of votes from the country side of the world that set out to help Team Blake.  Blake and Miranda have a very large following and that is a plus in this type of competition.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    True true true. Hey, is it just me, or is the last five minutes of the show more entertaining than the entire season? ;)

  • Anonymous

    The show was a bit long and boring until the end. I am happy for Jermaine and Blake. I was not a big fan of any of the 4 but I think the best contestant won in terms of potential as a recording artist and he seems like such a nice guy too. Surprising results almost in reverse of what everyone thought it would be!

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

    Like I said in the last thread, I was turned off by the Team Christina vs Team Adam bull shit!  I would not be surprised if the voters were too.  And it was probably always close as none of them were true frontrunners.

  • Anonymous

    the first 5 were great too!  I loved Jermaine’s quartet of the Jackson 5 classic!  ALOT!

  • Anonymous

    It’ll be interesting to see how much Blake will be able to help Jermaine in terms of his career, since Blake has no ties to the r&b market. Can’t see him taking him on tour like he did with Dia, either. But I’m sure Blake will continue to support him in whatever way he can.

    I’m going to have to watch the end of the West Coast broadcast such to see Tony’s face. I was hoping Juliet would win, but I’m ok with this result.

  • pj

    I wish people who like to quote God would stop singing songs by people caught on tape having sex with underage girls. More money to cover their misdeeds.  Wish those songs wouldn’t trend either.  Especially since I don’t like it.

    I think Juliet has a unique voice, but her chords are shot from singing from her throat.  An illness really set her back.

    Tony was cocky and rude in his interviews.  Plus, he wasn’t all that.

    Chris is opera lite.  Little old ladies seem to eat that up when someone wins a talent competition in the UK, but they never seem to win here.

    Jermaine was cute and a lil OTT sometimes, but he wasn’t offensive or a bad singer.  He cried a lot.  He seemed sincere.  He had Blake as his coach who didn’t indulge too much in the petty fake rivalry of Xtina and Adam.

  • http://twitter.com/GottaVote4DREW Ryan

    wait. why the hell couldnt team blake win last season when it was deserved. but now that he was basically the worst (oh hell, they were all terrible except juliet) team blake can NOW win!!!! that makes me mad >:(

  • Anonymous

    Wow, didn’t see that coming.

    Jermaine seemed to have the least buzz. Guess the drama backfired on both Adam and Christina. All I know is if I was a contestant and Blake turned around, he’d be my choice. Last year I thought he favored country, but this year he seems to just care about nurturing talent and staying out of the ugliness served his contestant well, I bet.

    Ceelo picks horrible songs, Adam is self-serving and a deebee, and Christina is a good coach behind the scenes but lets her emotions get the better of her (not that I necessarily blame her, but still…)

  • Anonymous

    I knew you were joking. Obviously, not everyone who’s sang “I Believe I Can Fly” won a talent competition. For the record, nobody’s sang that song on Idol this year.

  • Anonymous

    Jermaine’s “boy band” tonight was just about the most fun/entertaining thing I’ve seen on tv in years.  (Okay, I don’t get out much.)  But you have to like the fact that such a nice guy won … clearly he had real affection for the guys that he picked; big brother type.  That’s nice.  I hope they go on the road together!  I’d buy tickets for that!  P.S. Jamar fans … he’s going to have a great career too!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    I’m going back to the first live round. I remember Jermaine being on the first spot, singing a rock song (Living on a Prayer), totally out of tune, with his voice cracking all the time, the band too loud, even the background singers were out of tune, and the judges were criticizing him. He also got an arrogant edition before. With ALL THE ODDS against him (ironically the song he sang the week after), he left behind Charlotte, Jordis and Naia. Naia and Charlotte were basically on perfect pitch that night. How could he survived with all that?

    You really can’t tell this just based on his singing skills.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XB67F3WJOZTRYMUCGCRBAJ5UAA James

    They should show the results (like Xfactor Uk), it would make them different from other shows in the US.
    and i bet you they would be entertaining as well

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    Yeah, you are right, nothing of jungle fever…but i see so many comments that white teens/cougars vote for white guys only that I had to used this expression. For me it’s BS.

  • Anonymous

    I never found Jemaine remotely interesting from the beginning. And when he talks he looks angry.

  • Mary Reichardt

    I haven’t watched much of The Voice this season but that was a pretty entertaining final. Surprise winner! Adam and Xtina both losing! LOL. Blake was so cute with his excitement.  And Jermaine crying at the end was pretty emotional.  I hope the show can work out its issues for next season.  As much as the judges steal too much of the spotlight, I really appreciate that they have actual opinions and can string more than two intelligible sentences together (unlike another show I can think of *cough*Idol*cough*).

  • http://twitter.com/kuyanyan Yanyan

    Ceelo picks horrible songs but you can tell that he’s a strategist. He also got the best Top 2 acts last year and its still the same this year. Sad to see Juliet lose to someone like Jermaine.

    Blake on the other hand has always been about nurturing talent. Remember that he picked Xenia (contemporary) over Patrick (COUNTRY) last year and that his Top 2 both have nothing to do with country and he still took them on tour and was name dropping them every chance he gets on the show.

  • pj

    Not sure how Blake taking them on tour is strategic if most of his audience is looking for other country artists.  Better to pull strings and try to get them paired up with someone else more along their genre.  Case in point… Kellie Pickler’s initial tour with Brad Paisely and Taylor Swift introduced her to country fans and gave her contacts.  Her career is solid, if not superstar.

  • Anonymous

    Well, my interest was completely superficial – nothin’ to do with the voice.  And I’m not even ashamed of that …just one of my many flaws I guess.  LOL  I believe I commented on this very blog that I wouldn’t mind staring at his shoulders/chest for the next 4 months.  Him picking Blake helped too though.

  • Anonymous

    “Can I start a politically incorrect theory? he’s not a consistent vocalist, but very handsome and athletic. And, while arrogant, he’s confident and looks like someone with a big heart. He may has started a “jungle fever” in some housewives watching the show. That’s not supposed to be  biased. Just a theory. He was the last pick of anyone, we need theories”

    I wasn’t a big fan of  Jermaine but can’t people just find him attractive without it being seen as some kind of fetish? Tony Lucca wasn’t the most consistent singer and he had a strong following. Phillip Phillips can barely string 3 notes together and there’s a good chance he’ll win.  Voting for the cute guy is nothing new.

    “Yeah, you are right, nothing of jungle fever…but i see so many comments that white teens/cougars vote only for white guys only that I have to used that. For me it’s BS.”

    If most of the voters were Black females, and you wanted to argue that they tend to vote for Black men, then I would see your point. But arguing that the white female voters have all come down with a case of “jungle fever”, seems to be a stretch.  I’m not a big fan of that term, by the way.

  • Anonymous

    So unexpected given the Itunes ranking. At least Juliett voting is closer to her Itunes ranking. As a runner-up and good seller this season, i’m not worried about her getting to make another record.
    Beside Julliet winning, that was the best outcome for me!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1397704245 Anita P. Barber

    Jermaine peaked at just the right time.  That killer rendition of “Soul Man” won me over.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

    I didn’t mean it as a pervert fetish. My point was just that overall people voted for him based on his beauty more than his singing. I would edit my comment, but since you and another person replied, I’ll jsut apologize and keep this way.

  • pj

    As for Idol vs. The Voice, I think they both could learn from another.

    The Voice is fresher.  They don’t pretend not to take experienced people like Idol does.  The coaches have more chemistry and star power. They aren’t promising to find the next superstar, but giving someone a chance.  They actually work with the contestants and pretend to care.  They don’t have those terrible never ending audition periods where they make fun of people.  They don’t let unlimited voting, so the results are less predictable.

    Idol doesn’t have judges skits.  Idol focuses a bit more on the contestants.  I bet the Idol kids get more money, even if it’s a fraction of what the show and judges make.  Idol is like an old shoe.  It gets smelly, but you can’t help but love it.  I surely think that a 5th place Idol finisher has more chances than a 2nd place Voice contestant…. if just because of the name of the show and private gigs.  They need to lose the stupid mean-spirited auditions.  The highest rated Voice shows are the blind auditions. It may be fake drama, but they aren’t tearing people down but lifting them up.

    And the themes. Idol needs to work on that. Clearing songs and such. I do think it’s better now that Sony and Simon are gone. Season 9 was awful.

  • Anonymous

    I think Jermaine will do better than Javier.  Jermaine’s emotions are real, whereas Javier is concerned with the art of jazz singing.

  • http://twitter.com/lufflyness Jenna

    Congrats to Jermaine and Blake! Jermaine was my favorite of the four, and it’s nice to see Blake get a win, out of all the coaches he certainly deserves it (although I’m still bitter about him cutting Charlotte)….

  • Anonymous

    I think Jermaine won because Blake was his coach.  If he had another coach, I doubt he’d win.  It’s more the popularity of the coach than the actual performer.

  • http://twitter.com/Lutrell4 Ira

     I still think if XTina’s ego had not gotten in the way, Jesse Campbell would have been this season’s winner. That said, JP’s victory lap was the most powerful and emotionally uplifting that I’ve seen. It’s time to retire, “I Believe I can Fly”

  • http://twitter.com/Lutrell4 Ira

    That song is trending cause JP launched it into the stratosphere with that closing verse.

  • Anonymous

    Fair enough Leandro. I “softened” my post a bit,  LOL.

  • Anonymous

    I had given up on this show weeks ago, so I was surprised that Jermaine won. Then I watched the performances from last night. He was pretty damn dominant! I have long thought that these shows were about cumulative performances, but considering the stuff that went on in the periphery of the show between xtina and Tony, and how in retrospect she shot herself in the foot when she tossed Jesse…. A perfect storm had to occur for this stunning outcome, and it did. Btw, I Believe I Can Fly is such a retread, but I don’t think I’ve seen it performed better! Congrats jermaine!

  • http://twitter.com/Lutrell4 Ira

    I maintain after Christina dumped Jesse Campbell,her team lost a lot of support. It does not matter who she selected, they were not going to get Jesse’s votes.

  • Anonymous

    damn LOl looks like Jesse Campbell really had this in the bag before he got dumped

  • pj

    I loved Jesse.  I just don’t think he was relevant.  I think Jamar has the best shot to be a relevant artist in today’s market. Cee-Lo blew it because of strategy and wanting the only female.  Just like Blake blew it by sacrificing Jordis because he knew she would beat Erin and he wanted his golden boy Jermaine.

    At the same time, I think part of the show is that people are voting for the judges as much as the contestants. It is what it is. I’m not mad about it.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

    If I had a choice, I would not pick Christina as a judge!  Did Chris Mann say anything about her?   Seems she and Tony are feuding about something.  I’d rather have had Juliet win.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wanda-Dragomirescu/640090320 Wanda Dragomirescu

    I’m sure the drama between Xtina and Adam turned off some viewers but bottom line: Chris Mann was boring and Tony Lucca isnt as good as he thinks he is. IF CeeLo had picked better songs, I think Juliet could’ve won. However, Jermaine had a lot going for him…three great performances on the night that counts the most and the underdog status. Plus, it doesnt hurt that he is attractive and gracious.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wanda-Dragomirescu/640090320 Wanda Dragomirescu

    And I LOVED Jordis on Rockstar INXS (her version of Man Who Sold the World is always playing on my ipod), but she really under-performed on the Voice. I dont blame Blake for giving her the boot. She choked big time.

  • sf3456

    Let me just say, I am glad this season of The Voice is over.  It was just getting ugly between Christina fighting with two grown men thinking they’re clever.  Jermaine winning was a surprise but he and Blake were the no drama team.  “Soul Man” was an awesome performance and probably what pushed Jermaine to the win.  And his winning moment was nice.  Everyone seemed happy.  Christina was finally smiling again.

    For next season, if Christina and Adam are coming back, keep the animosity to themselves.  Or just fight it out.  Maybe they need to brawl in a parking lot somewhere.  And no more former Mickey Mouse Club members.  With their fanbases, that just sets off a whole bunch of ugliness and bitterness and ugh.

    I loved the Voice Finale!  It had so many current songs sung by the Top 4 and various past contestants, so it was great to hear lots of new songs covered!

    I haven’t enjoyed a Reality Singing Show Finale since the Season 8 Kradam Finale!

    I enjoyed the funny skits inbetween songs too.  The male judges make me laugh!

    Congrats to Jermaine!    I was surprised with his win, but glad for Blake!    Just as long as Xtina didn’t win!

    Xtina needs a new stylist.  Who keeps telling her that these revealing outfits look good on her?  Cover up the upper thighs/butt and be more modest with her boobage.

  • Anonymous

    I am actually genuinely surprised by that result. And that doesn’t happen with me and reality shows anymore.

    So I have to give it up to the show for doing that, at least. And I like that they give the voting percentages between the contestants. I think that’s also a smart move, show wise.

    I have zero clue as to how marketable Jermaine or Juliet will be, but I wish them the best.  And to Jamar as well.

  • revolution

    I was not surprised…here is why…Jamar’s votes were going to go somewhere, and they went to Jermaine… Then you have to ask yourself, where is an R&B singer going to do worse? The country vote, his going with Blake was pure genius, Probably didn’t have a great effect until Rae Lynn was gone, and then he sealed the deal Monday night, singing Blake’s song  and then singing with Blake.

    And Ladies, wasn’t he the hotest?

  • Anonymous

    It was smart of Jermaine to pick the one coach who seems to care what happens post-Voice.

  • http://twitter.com/Loretta31 Loretta

    This must be the year for the big voiced gospel type singers.
    Joshua Ledet seems poised to win AI.

    I really wanted Juliette.  Oh well.  Jermaine seems like a very likeable guy.  Good for him.

  • Anonymous

    Well, I was very surprised.  Incredibly surprised.  But that was, all in all, a great show (great television) and a great ending.  Very emotional (sniff), and I got caught up in the joy.  Now, to give the show some credibility, the winner needs to do well – and I hope he does.

  • Kirsten

    Wow. This vote definitely defied conventional wisdom. It had been said over and over that Blake had the weakest team since the blind auditions completed. Jermaine didn’t seem to have much of a chance at all.

    It really goes to show that the iTunes votes don’t account for much in the scheme of things. This is the second year in a row that the winner was outsold by somebody who didn’t win (but this year, it was by everybody who didn’t win) the iTunes vote during the voting period. I wonder what this means going forward for his sales. Last year, Dia and Javier were 1 and 2 on the charts (so it was close). This year, the winner didn’t crack the top 10 during his entire run. Is Jermaine one of those contestants whose fan base is a mile wide and an inch thick? Did people vote for his judge against the shennigans of the other judges? Will the record company do a better job with this year’s contestants than last when they couldn’t even bother to find an original song for them to sing and release this year? At least there is no dismal tour they have to do, so he’ll have more time to work on his album. UAC seems pretty welcoming to Idols and various singing competition contestants.

  • BonnieDee

    Too bad Adam and Christina could not let the focus be on the contestants for 5 minutes, but instead had to have a “feud.”  This is why the Voice won’t last.  It’s already pretty much an infomercial for the 4 judges, and the public doesn’t get much of a chance to know the contestants as they do on the other shows.

  • Anonymous

     There must be a lot of head-scratching in the marketing/advertising/PR sector altogether, in and out of music, over this kind of result.

    I’m sure that one purpose of stressing iTunes sales and “trending worldwide on Twitter!” stuff is to give a gauge as to how real-world sales will operate, to collect fans who’ll become longer-term buyers, etc. …. In everybody’s workplace these days they stress how much social media and the opportunity to instant-buy stuff and so on help “the brand” and all that.

    But from the evidence of these shows, it’s beginning to look like none of it means much at all when it comes to audience’s actual opinions and buying behaviors. You can have a million-plus Twitter followers, trend worldwide like a banshee, and be the top iTunes seller, but then the audience goes and *votes* for somebody else. Just strange.

  • Anonymous

    I am happy and very surprised for Jermaine that he won. Good for him. I am not so sure about what the post success will be for Jermaine or the other three. I honestly did not feel that any of them are that marketable just like last year. This show is really about the judges and their having success from the show. They do need to make some changes on The Voice to put the focus more on the contestants and to pick the right ones even if they are on the same team. I still think Jamar should have won over Jermaine.

    Not only did Chris Mann ‘forget’ to thank Christina…he graciously thanked Cee Lo! THAT WAS ODD! I think with Jermaine…he was so overcome with shock (as I was!) that he fumbled a bit and probably did not intend to forget Blake.

  • http://twitter.com/MikhailXO MichaelG (MikhailXO)

    See…I thought Jermaine seemed douchey…but I’ll give him the  benefit of the doubt.

  • Jae

    I’m with MJ. If they really are running the voice again in Sept, count me out.  I’ll be getting ready to complain about Xfactor again. :)

  • Jae

    LOL. I kinda thought the same thing.  I didn’t love Jesse but he could sing.  He was a little old school and stuck up to me but yes, I think Xtina could have won with him if he had evolved a bit.  His last performance wasn’t great but she had given him a bad song.

  • bean99

    Even though I was hoping for Juliet of the f4, I was happy for Jermaine.  I’d have much rather had Katrina in the finals than Tony.  I liked the season although not as much as season 1.  There’s definitely some tweaking to be done.  Christina needs to be less self centered but that’s not going to happen.  Would love her to be gone next time.

    I actually liked the songs with the previous singers.  Much as I loved them in the past, I thought Hall & Oates were way past their prime and was painful to watch.  We f/f through Bieber and Lady Antebellum.  Overall I liked it about as much as I do Idol’s finales when I don’t have a pony in the race.

    Popjustice kinda sums it up:

    Someone has won The Voice US
    Remember
    this name: Jermaine Paul (no idea) has been crowned winner of The Voice

    US pop’s
    great new hope sang songs by Bon Jovi, Phil Collins and Journey to edge
    out Juliet Simms, Chris Mann and friend of the stars Tony Lucca.

    has previously worked as a backing vocalist for Alicia Keys, singing
    on a number of her records, as well as working with Mary J Blige, Brandy
    and the great Joss Stone. It’s great to see that The Voice can really
    give normal people a route into a singing career isn’t it.
    Jermaine
    wins $100,000 in cash an a recording contract with Universal Republic
    Records, a prize which certainly worked out well for last year’s winner
    Javier Colon (no idea).

    “He’s quite the fancy dancer, however.”

    This is sarcasm, right? (I hope so! lol )

    I dunno… I think y’all are overthinking this. Everyone said all season that The Voice’s format works against connecting with the contestants in a big way. So if you have 4 people singing on stage and no one really had an overly large rabid fanbase… most people watching are familiar with them but not too attached… why wouldn’t the person who sang the best finale night have a shot at winning? It’s not like their ITunes positions were that far apart, didn’t everyone basically have something in the top 10 or 15 or so? If he had 3 good performances he should have taken it all.

    We cant use Idol rules on this show I guess, its a different beast.

    LOL at Adam and Christina’s contestants coming behind the other two.

    Am I the only one that doesn’t think the dude that won is all that cute?

    Totally surprised at the Jermaine win-he was never really on my radar for the win-although his performances were the best Monday night-loved his duet with Blake-loved the look on Blake’s face when Jermaine won-he was shocked!!!
    I did vote for Juliet but only because she was a girl-wrong reason to be sure-she doesn’t even sing my preferred type of music.
    I think the best part of this show is the blind auditions-not sure I want another The Voice so soon-I guess I can choose not to watch.

    Im thinking more and more that votes are not counted on the the Voice and Idol.. they pick who they want… Unless jermaine got all of Jamars votes..

    MJ, wasn’t it 33 K first week for Javier instead of 133?  I think 133K would have been a great first week?  Just checking…

    Is it me or is Beiber’s voice just getting worse and worse as he grows up. He was a cute kid when he was singing his “baby baby baby” song, and I could understand his appeal, but his new song is just awful. He’s just not as good as he used to be back in his YT days.

  • Anonymous

    I think he sold 10k his first week. Maybe his total sales were 133k, but I doubt it.

    Yes! Let the strongest singers prevail regardless of coach.
     “It sucks to be you”–GO MJ! LOL!

  • Trina

    You think Idol actually wanted some of the winners they got? And The Voice wanted Jermaine to win? and not Juliet who they’ve been pimping for weeks and was the highest seller on itunes most of the season? Doubtful. Maybe Jermaine won because he actually sang his ass off finale night and people voted accordingly.  I know my mother threw him some votes because she LOVED his singing that night. Internet presence and so called “buzz” never tells the whole story.

    It was 10,000 first week most likely 33,000 total at this point.

    Bieber’s voice isn’t getting worse ’cause its never been really good to begin with.  He was a tweenie fad and Teen singers rarely make it once their initial fan base moves on see: Bros, Jonas.  What is cute in someone at 15 or 16 becomes a mockery of itself at 18 or 20.

    Just like Idol alums these guys/gals can have a long lived career…but it is the exception rather than the rule that they can stay famous/popular beyond their initial fan base.  If Beiber makes it to 25 and is still recording and touring under the same umbrella of interest he now has I’ll eat my keyboard.

    Oh, hon.  Jermaine is very nice looking with a lovely body.  Not as good as  Blake, who is a hunka hunka burnin’ cowboy love, but …. (happily for everyone, I just look, I don’t vote.)

  • Nele621

    The winner only gets $100K? Peanuts.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    I think Bieber will make it to 25. He is still very, very cute, and altho his voice sounds like crap, he can put on a great performance. He is surrounded by great and influential people. He is also going to be starring in a movie soon, so he has an acting career ahead of him.
    It was 10,000 first week most likely 33,000 total at this point.
    Yep. Here were his first week SS numbers (he released Black Friday):
    Javier Colon, Come Through For You – 9968 – # 133
    I was totally shocked by Jermaine, did not see that at all, I knew Juliet would be top two but thought she would win, I love her!  Bieber is adorable and I like the kid and am so happy my daughter loves him and not Lil Wayne like a lot of teens.  I saw his movie and he can sing very well live, thats how they found him on youtube.  Anyhow – so sad about Juliet but she will be going around with Jermaine like Dia did with last years winner, I dont remember his name? So I will still be seeing her
  • koshka
    I hear a lot of comments about how Beiber is here to stay, that he has the right people backing him. I just don’t know. That performance was laughable. He can get away with it as an “artist” that appeals to young girls, but if he want the 20+ crowd he needs to go back to lip syncing or learn to sing because this ain’t doin’ it.  And a word of advice Beiber.. give a refund back to your swagger coach.
  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina
    LOL!!! Well, you are not alone in feeling that way. I guess he’s just not my type.
  • fuzzywuzzy
    His new song is a lot of rapping rather than singing. I’m wondering if he’s still having voice problems like he did when I last saw him sing live (which was very bad).
  • Tera2
    Jermaine won and I think he deserves to.  He is a strong vocalist with a very good voice.  And he has that experience working with a top recording artist.  With good songs he can make transition to be a recording artist himself.  If he can do something mainstream and current he may make it.  But I’m not sure what he does. (his voice reminds me of Taio Cruz who sang “Positive” for idol coke song”. he can do something like that)
    Anyway I gave Jermaine about 25 votes.  Jermaine was really my second favorite – its Jamar Rodgers that was my 1st favorite and made me actually pay attention to this season of The Voice.  I like Jamar’s funk-soul-rock singing style, and i like his voice and his voice and vibe is similar to Terence Trent Darby who is one of my top favorites singers.  Juliet is good too but I only liked her when she did “Roxanne” and her voice had some grit on that, but since then her voice hasnt been as good on other songs and she sounded like a cartoon character which made her vocals seem weak.  I liked Lindsey Paveo more than Juliet even though I’m usually not a fan of the child-like/odd voices they both seem to have like Dia last season.   I’m not passionate about The Voice like American idol, but I wish them all well.
    Btw, Mathai wasnt in the group of women who sang “superstition”.  It was Naia.  I was wondering why Mathai wasnt there.  I guess they dont bring them all back?  i dont know how they do things on the Voice.  Adam Levine really liked Mathai and he would have liked her back.
    I am still in shock… I thought it was Juliet for sure. And same here, I had Jermaine last in my winner list. I really don’t think his voice is anything special at all, and his higher registers are sometimes hard to listen to
    “Top vote getters should be eliminated regardless of team affiliation, like the X Factor.”
     MJ, I think you meant: “BOTTOM vote getters….”-?
    OMG Hall and Oats sang “Its a BITCH, girl..”-!  No WONDER Hall and Oats didn’t win The Voice, either!!
    Congrats to Jermaine and Blake on the win and lots of luck and best wishes for Chris, Tony and Juliette.
    I am still feeling bad for Xnia for not having enough time to finish dressing before show started.  At least she had sparkly panties. lol
  • hcpoirot
    The producer and Blake really try to throw Jermaine under the bus but he still winning. He always get to sing first or second in live round. Never sing pimp spot or even second pimp spot. (Juliet and Jamar totally dominated the pimp spots)
    Blake give him all the wrong predictable old songs to sing like Rock song, Against All Odds and even I Believe I Can Fly in final.
    Against All Odds, he win. Congrats to Jermaine. All the best.
