The Voice 11 Live Blog and Recap Blind Auditions 3 VIDEOS

Hey! We’re LIVE BLOGGING The Voice 11. It’s the Blind Auditions 3 and if you’re wondering who is singing what, Click for The Voice Song Spoilers.

Host Carson Daly is back to keep things moving. Also returning to The Voice are veteran coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. But for the first time ever, the panel will be an equal mix of males and females as Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys join the group.

Here we go. Night 3.

Bindi Liebowitz –  23 – Bust Your Windows by Jazmine Sullivan – Her parents split amicably when she was 3. While attending college in Pennsylvania she started a choir there. After her mom got breast cancer she stopped singing for awhile. Mom convinced her to start singing again and has been cancer-free for 2 years. Interesting vocal. Scratchy in a pleasant way–deep and soulful. Really nice phrasing too. She’s effortless. Adam turns first and then Blake at the very last minute. Adam’s mad! “You peein’ your pants,” Blake says when Adam said “I’m feeling something!” Adam says: “You made some amazing choices! I literally love you. I need you.” Blake promises he’ll protect her because she’ll be the only one like her on his team. Then, Blake brags about his winning ways with a cross section of winners. Zach Hicks – 24 – “At This Moment” by Billy Vera – He’s a country boy who likes the city life. He moved to Dallas TX, and came to terms with being gay. He played football and baseball and wasn’t the “flamboyant stereotype.” His mother didn’t talk to him for 6 months after he came out to her, but she eventually came to terms with it too. He has a fiance. He sings a twangish version of the 80’s classic. It’s a little rough with some pitch problems. No one is turning. Aw. He’s not a terrible singer, just nondescript. At this point in the Blinds, the coaches begin holding back for the best singers. Adam calls his voice beautiful big and round. He was waiting for more urgency. Miley thinks he should have sung a country song. Alicia suggests he scale back the vibrato. Blake suggests he come back and audition again. – No Turns

Elia Esparza – Como La Flor by Selena – Both of her parents are Mexican immigrants. After high school she moved from Texas to New York City. Currently she’s a birthday party entertainer and loves working with kids! She only performs about twice a month–grinding out a living. She’ll perform solely in Spanish today. Adam turns first. Her voice is pleasant, but not outstading. Singing in Spanish got her some turns for sure. Otherwise she’d be forgettable. Blake and Miley turn at the last minute. “Thank you for being different,” says Adam. She wants to do bilingual pop music. Miley pushes the “I’m different” card.  However, Elia Chooses Team Adam –  Download from iTunes

Lane Mack – 24 –  Every Day I Have the Blues by BB King – His uncle is grammy nominated for Cajun and Zydeco music. Currently, he works in his dad’s cabinetry business in Louisiana.  He has a wife and 2 little kids. Lane is a solid blues singer with a powerful, clear voice. His blue eyed soul is very sweet. Miley turns first. He ends with a big rock scream that does NOT result in more turns. Miley and this dude are an interesting combo. Lane reminds Miley of Jeff Buckley–a comparison that. excited him. I’m not hearing that really. Interestingly, he says Miley’s was the team he hoped to join. – Lane Joins Team Miley –  Download from iTunes

Karlee Metzger – Samson by Regina Spektor – Her family moved around a lot when she was a kid. She was bullied for her weight. She’s currently studying business at a Michigan college. In the meantime, she has been uploading music videos to Youtube. Karlee has a quirky sound with a lovely head voice and she can also hit the big notes. Her voice is elastic, pretty. She wiffs a big note and nobody turned. But at the VERY last minute Miley and Blake pushed their buttons. Adam’s a little sorry he didn’t. Miley thinks she can break her out of shyness. Blake tries to impress her with his knowledge of Missouri while Miley jokes she can beflower her outfits. Both Miley and Blake think they can work to improve her vocal tricks. Josh Halverson – 31 – Forever Young by Bob Dylan – His mom is a Sioux Indian. Currently he’s married, with a son and works on his dad’s Texas cattle ranch.  He’s kind of mumbly? But interesting. His take on this Dylan classic is well…unique. The enunciation is a little distracting. Nobody turns at first.  But then Miley, Alicia and Blake all turn at the last minute. Miley felt so wrapped up in his singing. Alicia calls his voice “striking.” Blake lays on some cattle talk, but Josh confesses he wants to get away from that! Miley announces she’s a vegan. THEN Adam advocates for Blake. “You built a bridge between us!” says Blake, before they go in for a bro hug. Nevertheless, Josh takes a left turn! Josh Chooses Team Alicia –   Download from iTunes
