Do you guys remember the young crooner, John Stevens, from American Idol season 3? He’s just released a the first music video “Intoxicated” from his newly-formed band, The John Stevens Band.

John recorded an album, Red, for Maverick records. When the album didn’t ignite his career, he took off for Boston and the Berklee School of Music. After graduation, he stuck around town to perform solo and with the Beantown Orchestra (which also featured season 11 alum, Jen Hirsh).  Now, he’s going solo, and “Intoxicated” is the nearly 26 year-old singer’s first effort.

John’s a great talent. Wish they’d be more open to artists like this. Perhaps that’s why Idol is hanging by a thread.

Thanks MJ. Great stuff. But then John is great…as long as you keep him away from “Crocodile Rock” or “Music of the Heart.”
Any idea when he’ll release “Intoxicated” as a single or on an album?

I was one of those that really enjoyed John’s time on Idol. I love the smoothness in his voice and his throwback style of singing. I have always thought his tone is especially suited to singing the old standards a la Buble and Connick Jr. It seemed to me that his Idol appearances were someone polarizing so I am so glad to read that he has continued to pursue his musical education. Hoping that he is able to find both professional and personal success through song whatever form it takes.

John was one of my favorite idols of all time. For reals! Saw John when he was in LA at the Grove years ago when he was promoting “Red”. Love that cd. :) Wish I lived closer to Boston now since he does regular shows up there. Great stuff!

Impressive – and good for him for attending and graduating from Berklee!

Wow! I love his song! It has a Michael Buble feel to it.

I like it. He is old fashioned, but he can perform the “standards” very good, and I love beautiful performance beautiful songs. I hope JS finds his niche.

I remember him, cute, young, red head, very old school crooner, really good singer. LOL, he hasn’t changed a bit! Not my kind of music but very pretty and he has a lovely voice. A couple of years ago I found his 1st album “Red” at the dollar store for, well a dollar. Thought that was kinda sad, to go from such a high of being on a number 1 show and recording an album to having your album sold at the dollar store. :( Glad he went forward in such a positive way, doesn’t always work that way for the young kids.

He looks exactly the same as when I met him 8 years ago on a promotional swing thru NYC. I thought he was a great standards singer them and still do. Good luck to John, my fave from S3.
