Jennifer Hudson graces the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly. Â   The accompanying interview took place as she readied herself for a 27-show tour with co-headliner Robin Thicke.

She’s still not talking about the horrific murders of her family that took place last October.   In fact, Jennifer doesn’t talk about the murders at all, even to her closest friends.

”I try not to say anything about it,” says friend, and longtime assistant, Walter Williams III, “She’s OK as long as people don’t bring it up.”

Counseling, Jennifer. I hope you are in it.

She’s also deciding what city to call home. After Dreamgirls, she purchased a condominium on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile to be near her family. Now she’s selling it.

”I don’t live in Chicago anymore,” she says.

Marriage is right around the Corner for Jennifer.   She’s set to marry reality star wannabe David Otunga (I Love New York 2).   A date is set, but Jennifer is keeping it secret.

I hope he makes her happy.   I think she could use some of that, right about now.

Bonus:   Check out   Jennifer and Ellen Degeneres singing in the bathroom.   After the JUMP!

It may be just me but did she have any work done? Or maybe, it’s just the make up. It’s her eyes. Were they that cat-like before? I remember her having big Bambi eyes.

I hope she’s not completely shutting the tragedy out. I understand not wanting to talk about it (especially to media) but it’s got to be lying deep inside her. I hope she’s at least seeing a therapist. A dear friend I grew up with lost her brother and father on 9/11 and for the longest time in a sense blacked things out. For whatever reason about two years later something snapped and she nearly had a breakdown and was forced to finally seek counseling.

    Gotta love Ellen.

Ellen is amazing! Jennifer Hudson not so much for me. Just not my thing.

  • houstonrufus

Yeah, I hope she is seeking counseling either through her church or professionals. I admire her determination to be strong and move on, but people aren’t made of bricks and mortar. Hope she is taking care of herself.

Jennifer looks absolutely gorgeous, on the cover and in all recent appearances. I hope and pray she’s dealing with her losses in a way that is therapeutic for her… it doesn’t sound good, but perhaps we’re not hearing the full story. I’m hoping that’s the case. And this dude she’s marrying seems… um, lucky. Very very lucky.

MJ, I’m with you – I hope he makes her happy.

Jennifer is always alright in my book. She hasn’t had any work done this is just how Jennifer looks. The cover is airbrushed as all covers these days are.

I really hope Jennifer is doing okay. I hope to meet her when she comes to Atlanta for the tour as I have tickets. She’s a great person and as she stated on Oprah music is her therapy and she prays every morning and prayer helps a lot. She has a strong religious background and I feel that will help her.

Also a little side note she will be on BET’s 106&Park today to do an interview. Its at 6pm est

She’s probably developed a sense of what she can and cannot handle and is compartmentalizing by putting the tragedy out of her mind so she can function. The scope of the loss is so overwhelming that she might need to deal with it in smaller chunks rather than all at once. Hell, she might never be able to fully process it, I don’t think I could either.

I imagine she talks to her fiance and her sister about it – probably the only 2 people she trusts enough and feels close enough to. Hopefully she is getting some counseling/therapy. I think anyone would after something like that. She looks lovely.

OMG that vid of Ellen and Jennifer is hilarious!!! Love it! Ellen’s not such a bad singer!

Warm fuzzy, fond memories of Normal Gentle anyone?

I would guess it’s the makeup, plus the required industry airbrushing. Jennifer’s face is stunning – I can’t imagine why she’d want to change a single thing.

Jennifer looks gorgeous. What an amazingly talented woman.

  • Dlynne

That was really fun to watch! Thanks, MJ!

  • ettacandy

just watched the video, and that’s some funny stuff right there. Love Ellen. She’s a nutball!

No way has Jennifer had “work”. She’s gorgeous, plain and simple.

  • kimberann

I’m sure she isn’t keeping everything internalized. She just seems like a private person. She probably doesn’t want the pity. I feel bad for her it’s a horrible tragedy.

  • canadiandcfan

    i love ellen!!
man, this was a pretty awesome vocal performance from both ladies !!!

  • Deejay

She’s beautiful. Inside and out, from what I can tell.

    Ellen isn’t a bad singer… :laugh_tb:

Just because she don’t talk to the press or her employees, doesn’t mean she doesn’t talk about this with her closest friends and family, one would hope.

Hey they airbrush everyone on any cover – I’ll never forget when Cindy Crawford admitted to the fact they changed 50 things on one of her cover shots and this was years ago before photo retouching became child’s play with the digital age and she was much younger.
