The Idols Busy New Years Lineup

The Idols are keeping busy over the New Years holiday, with various TV appearances and live appearances.

On New Years Eve, Adam Lambert will perform a 40 minute set at the New Year at the Gridlock party, at the Paramount lot in LA.   Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta perform on FOX’s   Billboard’s New Years Eve Live show in Las Vegas, and in New York City, Daughtry rings in the new year, performing 4 songs in Times Square.

Plus, David Archuleta performs at the Sun Halftime Bowl, and Matt Giraud sings the National Anthem and performs two songs–”Let’s Get it On” and a tune from the movie Top Gun–at halftime at the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game.

David Cook performs at the Penchanga resort in San Diego and it’s New Year’s Howlin Eve with   Bucky Covington in Winston-Salem, NC.

On New Year’s Day, Jason Castro rides in the FOX 4 float in the Comerica New Years Day parade.

Tuesday December 29

  • Bucky Covington performs at the Hard Rock in Nashville, TN. Proceeds benefit the Arthritis Foundation.
  • Melinda Doolittle and Phil Stacey join Scott Hamilton for “Holiday Concert on Ice” at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, NY. 7:30 pm ET.

Wednesday December 30

Thursday December 31

  • Jordin Sparks appears on Live with Regis and Kelly (R)
  • David Archuleta performs during the Sun Bowl Half-Time show, Sun Bowl Stadium, El Paso, TX
  • Matt Giraud sings the National Anthem and plays at halftime at the Ford center for the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA team.
  • Bucky Covington appears at an event for 93.1 The Wolf at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem NC.
  • David Cook performs at the Pechanga Resort and Casino, Temecula, CA, 10:30 pm
  • Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta Appear on the Billboard New Years Eve Live on FOX 11 pm.
  • Daughtry appears on New Years Rockin’ Eve, hosted by Ryan Seacrest.   Chris and the band perform 4 songs in Times Square.   ABC 10 pm.
  • Adam Lambert performs at the Gridlock New Years Eve Party, Paramount Studios, Los Angeles CA. Set begins at midnight.

Friday January 1

  • Jason Castro rides in the FOX4 Float in the Comercia Bank New Years Day Parade in Dallas.   The parade will be televised localy on FOX 4, beginning at 2:30 pm.   The parade will be re-broadcast on Jan 2 at 8 am.   It will also be live streamed on the internet.
  • The FOX Reality Channel begins re-runs of American Idol Season 8 at 9 am.
  • Kris Allen appears on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien 11:35/10:35c NBC (R)

    I am glad Adam is at Gridlock. I cannot go cross country to see him, but I’d rather 40minutes of youtube (hopefully) than a couple of songs at the network NYE shows.

    We will never know how all the New Years Eve gigs came about….and how any of the Artists feel about where they are playing. I would assume that the performances are all paying gigs….this isn’t free promo. It takes a bit of money to transport bands and equipment around the country…and these Artists need to be compensated for rehersal time and setting up their performances (and I only address this because comments on several blog sites seem to think that the Artists are doing this for free to promote their songs and albums).

    I’m excited that we will get 1 hour worth of youtube video’s of Kris (hopefully) from tomorrow night, plus get to see him on tv New Years Eve. Diane, I also can’t wait to see him perform Can’t Stay Away Live. Hopefully he does not play his guitar..

    This is an exciting week for alot of the idol’s fans.

    GRIDLOCK NYE is almost sold out — just some $150 general admission tickets left. Still hoping against all rational hope that someone broadcasts some of this concert.

    I saw the billboards for Cookie playing Pechanga on my way out to Palm Springs. Pechanga is in Temecula (about 60 miles from San Diego and 86 miles from L.A.)

    I thought I read, I can’t remember where, that there might be an Adamcast for NYE. Did anyone else hear this?

    I wonder if anyone tweeted Adam about his song selection for the show? I can’t believe we can’t get some kind of live feed for his first “40 minute” solo concert! WHAT A MAJOR “FAIL” !!!!!

    Oh, well….hopefully we’ll get youtube vids and photos.

    Today I am loving “Loaded Smile”…hope he does it NYE for you lucky people who get to be there!! :( :)

    On one of yesterday’s threads a couple of posters talked about Gridlock on AdamCast. I asked a couple of times “What is AdamCast” but nobody answered. I think it is some kind of 24/7 all Adam all the time, but I can’t get this clarified. There is an Adamcast website but it is so confusing. If someone knows about this, I’d love to be educated.

    Heard Daughtry on the radio today and I thought it was Nickleback.

    Wasn’t the AdamCast used during the AI Tour to ‘live stream’ some of Adam’s performances when Rickey’ s didn’t sound very good? I think one of the Adam websites started doing them. I might be wrong on this, luval, but I think that’s what happened.

    Great to see so many idols working this NY’s. (I wonder what Katherine McPhee, Bo Bice and Fantasia are doing??)

    Too bad that CBS won’t air the halftime show at the Sun Bowl. Guess that David A will have to be happy with 51,000+ views in the stadium (it’s sold out, which is unusual before game day, apparently).

    Pechanga is an Indian owned hotel casino entertainment venue in Temecula California. The concert hall where David is playing seats about 1200. Temecula grew from 100 residents when I started going near there in the early 70s to a huge sprawling residential community that feeds San Diego, Riverside, and Ontario.

    Considering the teams are Stanford and Oklahoma (both teams travel well…which means their fans are die hard and will travel anywhere to see them play) I’m not surprised its sold out….but El Paso is sort of the arm-pit of Texas and not a tourist town by any measure…though its a hop and a skip to cross the border and the young college kids love that…beer on tap for 18 year olds.

    But this should be a nice gig for David. Being the headliner at a half-time show is always great and will expose him to new Peeps.

    I’m in the Central Time Zone…so it would be 2:00 am for me. I’m not sure for the Eastern Time Zone. But it starts at 12:00 am in California. Quess it will be a ‘late nighter’ for alot of us….but it’s worth it to finally get to hear Adam singing ‘live’ the songs on his album!! :)

    I’m braving the cold, insane crown and going to Times Square! Haven’t done that since the last time Daughtry played NYE! And I’m especially looking forward to video/pics from the Pechanga. Ugh I’m having such withdrawal since the tour ended.

    I read that this is the first time this bowl game has sold out since they expanded the stadium and that they are getting a lot of the locals coming to see David.

    You are very welcome, I am happy that I can do this for all the Adam fans who cannot attend. Plus it should ease the Adamcast site traffic so it can handle all the viewers there.

    It looks like we will see David on our televisons. This is not usual for bowl games to show the half time entertainment, even if it is just one song.

    ^^^ If your hotel has wifi and you have a laptop or can borrow one, can’t you do both (due to the 3 hour time difference)? Lots of hotels have free wifi these days.

    My faves DC and Kris Allen performances are exciting!!! Two nights for each of them!! Can’t wait for vid. esp. from Kris’s hour set on the 30th! Hopefully DC will play something new too!

    And wow look at Allison in the line-up with all the idol guys!!! Good job Allison!!

    I’m not a huge Archie fan, but I’m so proud of him on this half-time show thing! Good for him!

    Archie will sing 3-5 songs, but only one will be aired. Yay!! We’ll take what we can get. There were earlier reports that said he wouldn’t be televised at all. So this is great news. I wonder if he’s singing the NA too.

    So the special appearance concert by Kris starts at 11:00 pm ?
    I’m glad that I’m on the West Coast, so I can still be wide awake.

    BTW, as I posted on an earlier thread, Jason Castro is getting married the very next day after this parade appearance. He’s getting married on Saturday, Jan. 2, in Texas. And it appears from twitters between Brooke White and Jackie Castro that both Brooke and Archie will be attending the wedding. I wonder if any other Season 7 peeps will be attending?

    Not sure if it sold out last year but this year should end up being sold out. I have VIP tickets. It will be an epic night for sure!

    Not sure where you saw this but the gridlock page is still showing some tickets packages available at other prices and when you go to order tickets they allow you to select more than just the $150 ones.
