The Glee Project is Officially Cancelled

You’re probably thinking: But I already thought it WAS cancelled! But not officially. Oxygen announced today that the network has cancelled  The Glee Project.

A representative from the cable channel released a statement:

“’The Glee Project’ will not be returning to Oxygen. But, we are extremely proud of this series which launched the careers of several talented individuals. The show had so much heart and we thank Ryan Murphy and all of the creative talent who helped make the series a critical darling.”

Cast members to come out of The Glee Project competition include current series regulars, Blake Jenner (Ryder Lynn) and Alex Newell (Unique). Damian McGinty, Samuel Larsen, Lindsay Pearce, and Ali Stroker have also appeared on Glee.

Sources tell The Wrap that the timing of FOX’s renewal of Glee didn’t leave enough time for producers to turn around a 3rd season of the series. They stress that the recent death of Glee star, Cory Monteith was NOT a deciding factor.

Too bad this series isn’t coming back. It was well done and entertaining and I LOVED covering it.
