I’ve listened to songs from his albums with Axium and I found them much better than Analog Heart. Of course I don’t know what was on his next album that he was working on but I’m sure the lyrics were good–as they were in Analog Heart. He’s evolved since Analog Heart as a singer. It’s a good album, but I don’t see any reason to revisit any of those songs unless he changes the arrangements to fit with his evolution. Good lyrics are the basis of a good song. That’s where you start. Cook always looks at the lyrics first and he never looks back. That’s one of the reasons he didn’t revisit a song on the final 2 night–because he’s already done it.

As for a cut from Analog Heart, I would love it if he included Searchlights, Straight Ahead, or Fall Back Into Me. I like these songs a lot, and it would be interesting to hear the results from the hands of a top-notch producer like Cavallo. I am also curious about how David’s vocal interpretation might have evolved, since he refers often to viewing his work as a progression.

I think Straight Ahead and Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t Say A Word have the most Top 40 potential.

I totally agree with you about Don’t Say A Word. That’s my favorite song along with Silver Which I love. Straight Ahead is pretty average IMO and it’s not even in my top 5.

I was also pretty mystified when Phil Stacey was signed last year. He was married, kind of scary looking and not a stand-out character in the season of Sanjaya. His album sales have been mediocre (33,000 to date) and his single only got to 28 on the country chart. I wonder how much better KLC will do.

You said what I didn’t want to say out loud (about Phil, bc he seems like such a nice guy). But, have you heard Julianne Hough’s song? She a decent singer (more in the Pickler realm than Carrie), but the song is pretty lame. It’s doing well, so who knows- maybe KLC has a shot.

Nothing about her album sounds promising. And a cover of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“God Bless the USA?à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  Just no.

Amen sister. I’ll take a pass on that crappy song, and I’ll take a pass on Kristy’s insta-cd (just add blond!). I think Kellie is a far more engaging personality, so I don’t expect Kristy to do as well as she did. Although, admittedly, I know zero about country music or what country fans may want. I just don’t think anyone outside of the AI bubble knows who KLC is, and I don’t anticipate her picking up a ton of new fans.

I’m expecting Cook’s cd to be good, and if it is, I’ll buy it.

His music doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t have to be all original. There are a lot of beautiful songs out there waiting for someone like DC to do them justice. No matter what he sings it becomes a David Cook song anyway.

Ah ShariG! And The Truth is one of my favorites on AH. I just love the whole album more, the more I listen. And everything I hear on the radio or wherever now, I think, “Gee, David could sing that! And it would be GREAT, it would be much better!” But I want more of HIS writing because I really like his words and music. I was sucked in already by about March on Idol; then, I got AH. That was it…I was a goner. Finally, something I could relate to, words that meant something to me, with melodic, musical, soulful, ROCKIN’ sounds! (I’ve also had to get some MWK and To Have Heroes. Try them, you might like them.)

Kellie Picklerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s single was release early September, because I heard her say the night of the tour in Atlanta that she heard it on the radio that day – September 12.

Her album was released the following month on Halloween.
