Season 5 winner, Taylor Hicks, performed a brand new song, “Teach Me to Dance”, at The Avalon theater in Easton Maryland last night.

The song is co-written by country songwriters,  Victoria Shaw & Candy Parton.

The incredible guitar work is from Jamie McLean. His band backed Taylor on the performance. Really good stuff from Taylor and the band.

I love this song! The acoustic version is my favorite.  Thanks for posting it, MJ!

That was really nice. Good luck to Taylor on his new music. Liked him okay on Idol, but didn’t really appreciate him until afterwards. Discovered that he had done some music that I really liked. Wishing this man nothing but the best!

This is fantastic!  Taylor is such a talented performer – one of the best to hit the Idol stage (regardless what Simon thought).  Now, let’s see this song performed on “Dancing With the Stars”!   It is perfect!  Country Soul?  Love it!

I could wish upon a star that Nigel would invite Taylor back to perform.  Well, I make that request every year!

Hoping Country Radio won’t follow the path of radio Top 40 who never gave Taylor a chance in the past.

Still….I’m sure Taylor would like to be heard on radio. And hopefully with this new country-soul album, he’ll get that chance.

Not a bad thought for this song to be played on TMTD!  Excellent idea.

    Laurie, what is TMTD?

I twittered Carrie (DWTS) the link to Taylor’s song requesting he appear on the show OR that they at least use his recording.  I also twittered Nigel.  I know waste of time.  If more people contected TPTB there is alwsy that possibility he would appear somewhere on television AND radio!

I love this song, but agree with the poster who said the sax doesn’t seem to fit the song.  I am soooo pulling for Taylor to have a hit on this new album. He deserves it and it is long overdue.

I love this song, but agree that the sax doesn’t quite fit. I adore the acoustic version.  I truly hope that Taylor gets the recognition he deserves with this new album.  I am not a big fan of country music in general, yet some of my all time favorite songs are country songs.  I have a feeling Taylor could bring some great music to the genre. Your fans are always proud of you Taylor!

What great comments these have been – so nice to see Taylor getting some love!
This song would be absolutely out of this world for a waltz on DWTS. However I thought there wasn’t a better song in the world for the Paso Doble than Seven Mile Breakdown either.

Would so love to see Taylor perform “Teach Me To Dance” for the pros to dance to.

    I can dream, can’t I? :)

That would be awesome and so appropriate, eh? First he has to record and release the song.  But ya, his management should be on the ball with it and at least pitch it to them, regardless of radio play. Would be perfect for DWTS.

    SOUL PATROL!!!!!!!!

Someone should tell Taylor there is no sax in country music. I also don’t see any audience for country soul. Sorry Taylor Hicks fans, I don’t see this song doing anything.
