X Factor winner, Tate Stevens reveals the cover of his upcoming debut album, set to be released on April 23.

The self-titled album is produced by Blake Chancey and will include three songs that Stevens co-wrote alongside Ashley Gorley, Joe Diffie, Wade Kirby, Phil O’Donnell, Shane Minor, and David Lee Murphy.

I realize the album is a rush job, but Tate only co-wrote 3 songs? Even Phillip Phillips managed to get a ton of co-writes on an album he put together in 6 months–3 months while on the Idol tour

“For someone that has dreamt of recording and releasing music for over a decade, to say I’m excited is an understatement,” says Tate. I feel like the songs we selected for the album are a real reflection of my personality—they range from fun-loving to serious and everything in between. I’m so proud of this album and can’t wait for the fans to hear it! ”

Tate’s single, “Power of a Love Song” has been sent to country radio and goes for adds on 3/11.

kayd23: If Scotty can have a hit country single with ILYTB than Tate has a good shot at having a country hit single with “Power of a Love Song.” It just has to be promoted and marketed correctly in the country music markets. I just never liked that cheesy ILYTB song nor understood how it sold that well.

ILYTB sold so well because it was released right on the heels of Scotty’s AI win like Lexie O’Neill says, and Scotty came out of AI with a much, MUCH bigger fanbase than Tate had coming off XFactor.

ILYTB has some pretty embarrassingly bad lyrics but it was a better record than song. It still wasn’t a great choice for a single. But country radio didn’t play it because the song was good, they played it because of Scotty’s personal appeal and personal popularity at the time. He was too popular to ignore the only song he had out at the time.

Tate doesn’t have any of those luxuries. He has fans but not enough to push the Holler If You’re With Me (which has its share of dumb lyrics) into the week’s t50 country downloads even with a Pepsi commercial/video. So country radio isn’t going to feel obligated to play anything of his. It sounds like Tate’s getting started on some radio tour dates so at least RCA Nashville is doing that. If Power Of A Love Song is going to do anything on country radio, it’s going to have to work its way up.

Based on the song, I don’t think it’s likely country radio’s going to jump up and down about it. Not because it’s a bad song or because they don’t like Tate. But when you’re trying to break through in Tate’s circumstances, you need to come out of the gates and blow people away. This single isn’t terrible but it’s not going to blow people away. And I don’t think RCA Nashville is going to expend endless resources to promote it when they have other acts more likely to deliver a hit.
