abbysee I would never forget you cuz that was a great ride from ‘One Rock and Roll Too Many’ through to ‘Change Goinna Come’ where Syesha briefly rose to the top.

Over at TWOP in examining Syesha’s personality, one poster who teaches creative kids from impoverished backgrounds(I call them underprivileged overacheivers) said it is common for her students to hide behind a character, never showing their true selves.
They are saying here, hate this(the character) but you will never hate me because you will never know who I am.

Which is right in line with Kat’s most excellent observation.

Does she think highly of herself? Or is what some people see as mild narcissism just a defense mechanism that she crafted to deal with her terrible childhood?

I donÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know the answer to that, which is why I have a tougher time taking her to task for some of her affectations than I do with some of the other Idols.

Great observation, Kat. I too sorta see it as such. Considering her back story, it has to be at least partial forced bravado. That being said, I saw her no lest likeable than any of the others, or their perceived personnas.

J.S.G. you forgot about me. I was the one downloading her itunes and voting for her, well when I wasn’t voting for Carly and David. LOL!

I like Syesha, and as far as I am concerned, she has just as much mainstream potential as Jordin. She is as pretty as Rihanna and can sing circles around her. We decry idol being a popularity contest, then reinforce it being one. I don’t give a heck about whether she thinks highly of herself. Good for her!

I guess I’d be more into her as an actress if she appeared to be a GOOD actress. I’ve seen nothing to indicate that she’s not a lovely person inside — it’s very likely she is — but everything about her always screams “I’M ACTING!” Nothing personal against her, but no thanks.

Considering her acting background, I wouldn’t be surprised if she had some friends in the business who could put together a nicely produced vlog for her.

On the show they were really pushing her in an acting/Broadway direction and she seemed to want to go that way. Maybe 19 will manage her but send her straight to Broadway w/o bothering with an album…or do a jazzy album with a smaller label *then* Broadway…I don’t see her staying strictly in a recording career.

I think Syesha has a couple dozen fans out there. I’m not one of them.

She said in one of the interviews,that she would have her picture taken with anyone. I wonder if Rickey got the memo?

As I am the only Syesha fan in the western world, you are more than welcome Syesha, as if nothing else, you did make AI7 interesting.
I am totally burned out from mailing in all those cards, letters, flowers, rainbows and unicorns not to mention fronting both fan groups, so u r on your own now.

Very professional production – as usual Syesha says nothing of any substance.
Her expressions of gratitude do seem genuine.

That girl is so actress-y no matter what. Those poses in her video and MySpace page are hilarious. LOL. I still think she needs to get a part in the Color Purple movie. Unless some famous R&B producer wantes to pick her up, I ain’t seeing the album thing. More power to her though.

Yeah that seems right. I am guessing she is 7th or 8th on 19E’s pecking order right now, since she doesn’t seem to have mainstream music appeal.

It’s good to see Syesha’s afro back. I didn’t like it when they changed her look towards the end of the show.

At the end of the vid it says that it’s a Melkwych production. A quick google search yielded Melkwych Pierre-Louis, a producer out of North Miami. I’m guessing she had help, but not from 19.

Ugh. I don’t think I’m ever going to get it. She just never seems real to me. YMMV.

So… if she isn’t signed anywhere, is this all her own doing? It looks more professional than any of the other “vlogs” by the Davids and Jason. And that’s including DC’s first “Thank You” video.
Color me surprised if this is self promotion, the girl is giving Jason a run for his money. Or has 19 signed her too and it just hasn’t been announced yet? Makes me wonder.

How many people do they usually sign, anyway?
I would’ve thought Carly, Michael, Jason and Brooke before Kristy Lee and Syesha. Now I just don’t know.
