Susan Boyle has pulled out of tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent concert in Wales.

BRITAIN’S Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle has pulled out of performing in Cardiff tonight.

The 48-year-old Scottish spinster – dubbed SuBo – was expected to take to the stage as part of the hit showà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s tour which stops off at the Cardiff International Arena tonight.

But her agent told WalesOnline that Susan was too exhausted to perform and would be sitting it out.

She said: “Susan’s really upset that she can’t perform in Cardiff tonight and she’s really sorry to all her fans.

She gets tired very easily and she needs to rest.”The tour itself is a really tiring process and she would have loved to have been able to be there tonight.”

It’s the 4th concert out of nine she’s cancelled since the tour opened in Birmingham June 12.   She also missed concerts in Liverpool, and   Manchester.

According to her publicist, they’re making decisions about weather Susan will perform on a “day by day” basis.

If she’s not up to touring, the producers need to send her back to Scotland.

All of this is so damn predictable and it says volumes about our society. The women CANNOT function in normal society. She does not have the skills required to divorce herself from the life she led for 40 some odd years. She probably has the social skills of a 10 year old….and her stupid advisors and producers and SIMON just don’t seem to grasp that.

At this rate she is going to end up as a full time resident of a “looney bin” (pardon the expression but I’m pissed). Please, won’t these “advisors” of hers send her home to live the rest of her life in peace.

  • girlygirl

I don’t want to be cruel, but to be honest, if I never read or heard about Susan Boyle ever again, I’d be so happy.

  • Natasha

I guess she needed another “rest day”. Something’s very wrong if she can’t get out there and sing two songs.

Ticketholders probably aren’t very reassured by performance decisions being made on a day to day basis.

This. The woman is obviously not cut out for this kind of life, and I think that that fact was obvious the second she had her first breakdown. This is all too high stress for her. The only people I really feel sorry for are those Susan fans who bought (Probably very expensive) tickets to see her preform, and then have her not show up because she needs to take a ‘rest day’. Like MJ said, how difficult is it to get up on stage and sing two songs?

  • hypertwink

I put all the blame on Simon Cowell. That’s what you get if the people that manage you have cash registers for hearts.

  • sonyab

That poor woman! She doesn’t need to be in concerts right now nor on tour. She needs help. She needs to be in therapy!

  • tierbee

How sad! But yeah, if she can’t get up and do two songs… I don’t think a performing career is in any way in the cards for her. Fame is hard on anyone but she seems particularly ill-suited for it. The “plucked from obscurity” thing isn’t always good.

  • cookcricket

They should just cancel the tour. Are peeps mainly showing up to see her? How many “acts” are in the show anyway?

Also, why didn’t they see this coming way before the finale?

I do feel bad for Susan Boyle though…

  • golcook

I still don’t get what people see in this lady. She’s just an average singer, how did she get this popular??? I just don’t get it. She’d better go back home to normal life, obviously she cannot handle fame.

  • snuffles

Oh just send the old biddy back home to her cat Pebbles already!

  • Sunn

mj can we not leave the poor woman alone? What’s the point of following her updates? It just seems sad.

I guess the UK fans are more forgiving that here (are the concerts still sell-outs?) I mean, if a headliner from the AI tour pulled out repeatedly, I can just imagine the tirades coming from the fans.

  • smartcookie

Best possible light: she is way too fragile emotionally to ever have been on TV, let alone on a tour.

Worst possible light: It’s all a PR stunt designed to keep the BGT tour in the news every day, and for Susan Boyle to upstage the winners.

  • ruskimom

Come on people…I’d pay money to see Stavros Flatley! They always performed in greek garb to “Zorba,” and broke this out for the Finale….See Simon in his natural habitat!

  • ruskimom

    edit: offtopic.

  • wickedelphie10

    wow…
i’m soo glad the idols don’t do this! i would be soo upset if they did.
i feel sorry for her though! something’s not right if she needs 4 rest days/9 concerts and she’s only singing four songs!

I mean, if a headliner from the AI tour pulled out repeatedly, I can just imagine the tirades coming from the fans.

It’s happened at least twice. Katharine McPhee (second place season 5) missed three weeks of the start of tour because she was on vocal rest. Bo Bice (second place season 6) also missed shows after being rushed to hospital for emergency surgery (some sort of problem with his intestines or something. BTW he did not get paid for the shows he missed).

I don’t recall their fans freaking out. They were actually very supportive. Some people who didn’t like Kat were a little more vexed by the situation (to put it mildly). Fans just seem to want to see their Idol get better. In Kat’s case, some of them even purchased tickets for later in the tour in hopes of seeing her (the tour added dates that year, so it kind of rapped around to the start of the tour again). I suspect that Susan’s fans are being supportive as well.

Side note, Kat McPhee, Bo Bice and Diana Degarmo (second place season 3) also fractured their feet (or legs or something) during the tour leading some to think that second place was kind of cursed. Blake and Archie seemed to have broken that curse.

  • snuffles

Well those were for PHYSICAL ailments, not for possible psychological breakdowns.

    Nope. It’s news. Sorry.

  • Grammie Kari

Do the producers of the tour add extra performances or another act to make up for Susan not being there? It seems like they should.

I cannot believe Bo didn’t get sick pay for the missed dates.

Well those were for PHYSICAL ailments, not for possible psychological breakdowns.

Sorry Snuffy, I’ve got to respectfully disagree with you.

Just because mental illness can’t be seen by just looking at someone (for the most part) it is a PHYSICAL ailment.

  • http://tenuousatbest.blogspot.com imyourmom

This poor woman needs to do pull out of this tour – her health is far more important than the money. She’s simply not equipped to deal with this and she needs to rest and regroup. Mental health is just as important as physical health, she needs more help than she’s getting. Where’s her advocate in all of this? Everyone needs an advocate.

I don’t know that it’s fair to solely blame Simon and the gang. Susan’s the one that showed up to auditition, by either her own will or someone elses. TPTB didn’t pull her from obscurity. In fairness, I don’t think Simon could have predicted this kind of fallout with regard to her popularity or concerns about her mental state. It’s not like they do psyhological assessments prior to an audition. The panel – and the public – thought she was legitimately talented. They did their job. It’s what they all do for her in her best interests from this point forward that will tell the tale.

  • bentsinister

I agree with imyourmom and SparklesATL.

Yes, I can imagine singing two sings IS that difficult if you’re having emotional and mental issues. It always seems people (not just here, anywhere) don’t have much empathy for psychological ailments or any health issue they can’t see . I don’t think she’s making this up for attention and I think she’s probably in a lot of distress. After all, she had to be hospitalized very recently. It should have been obvious to the higher-ups and her “handlers” that she’s not able to handle the strains of a tour.

Giving Susan the benefit of the doubt, maybe she truly thought she could handle all this when she went on the show. For her own good, if people are going to be so unforgiving of her need to take it easy, then maybe she should just try to return to obscurity.

  • Jani

Quote from Simon, today, regarding the tour:

“I wasn’t sure, so we gave her the opportunity of not taking part. But, after a few days at home in Scotland, Susan was determined that she wanted to do at least some of the dates.
It was agreed that it would be under her terms, and whenever she felt it was too tiring she could choose not to participate. The nights she has performed have been incredible.”

Other acts have missed performances too.

  • lavender1960

Maybe they need to do a physical and psychological examination before these shows which require people to tour – I don’t care how tired or sick I was, if I loved to perform and I had this once in a lifetime big shot, I’d be out there in a frigging wheelchair……..with an IV stand if need be.

Certainly if you can handle this schedule which is not gruelling compared to many many artists you should not be auditioning for the show. I hope the show does make it clear that you aren’t guaranteed to see everyone every night and if they made that deal with SB before hand they should have told the public before taking their money – that’s a whole different ball game than someone is sick, they knew in advance she could pick and choose what concerts she felt like doing.

At this point I agree if you can’t commit to doing all the remaining shows, pull out now. Fairest thing to all concerned.

  • jack5791

If I went specifically to see her…oh man, I’d be LIVID. Fourth show? Come on now. Maybe it’s time to throw in the towel. She can’t get up and not even move, but STAND behind the mic and sing two songs?

  • Jani

lavender1960……..they did announce that Susan wouldn’t do every show, but they should have made it a bigger point to let people know the circumstances.
This way, it makes Susan look bad and gives the media a chance to make up ridiculous stories, but BGT won’t lose as much money.
    Money……..that’s their bottom line.

  • Dr. Tracey

LOL i’m finding this all kind of amusing, will she, won’t she? Should we start a pool?

  • smartcookie

Last year’s SYTYCD tour was missing Katee, who was in about half of the dances since she was partnered for most of the season with Joshua, the winner, and so many of her dances from the season were highlights for the producers, I guess. Anyway, they replaced her in maybe one or two things and just cut everything else. It made for a really pathetic show, I have to be honest. If they had had better back-up, I wouldn’t have minded, because she wasn’t my fave, anyway. But they really didn’t work very hard to fill in the holes.

With this show and only two songs missing from the total show, it shouldn’t have been a big deal. Unless people were only coming to see Susan Boyle. Or see Susan Boyle melt down before their eyes. Some people do come for the freak show, and some may come because they want to be one of the few who got to see her. If she’s canceling right and left, and it’s very unlikely she will ever do this again, but you get to see her, you can dine out on that for years. (Like having seen the musical version of “Carrie.” It’s legendary.)

  • Little Boy Blue

A very cynical friend of mine who happens to know some movie starts actually suspects this is Boyle’s clever way of turning herself into some sort of a Britney Spears/Lindsay Lohan type of sensation so that she can continue to milk publications for mucho dinero.

It is a fact that the more “controversial” one is, the more people want to follow your life and buy into what you can produce.

So there you are … for what it’s worth.

Oh well…I guess if I had paid to see her I will be mad… but since I have become a huge fan of Diversity, really those kids RULEZ, I wont made a difference for me…

So it’s the cool trend now to be bonkers? I’d never be that desperate for fame, I tell ya!
