The Britain’s Got Talent Tour started Friday night, and despite all the gossip that had Susan’s nerves maybe keeping her from performing opening night, she seems pretty relaxed. She performed the two songs she sang in competition, “Memory” and “I Dreamed a Dream.” She got standing ovations from the audience after both performances.

This video here is closer to the stage, but the sound isn’t as good.

    Way to go Suz!!

I can;t help but be cynical about this. I mean, they stage managed her intro so why wouldn’t they use this whole emotional fatigue to score some press to hype her up after the show. I mean, she was the subject of every tabloid over there…it’s like Rolling Stone, only British. LOL

Oh, I may be naive, but I still get a little chill and a tear in my eye when I hear her sing. For sure, the show has used her background and her emotional breakdown to their advantage, but I think she herself is the real deal, and I applaud her for being brave enough to try out in the first place.

They’ve been working more with her hair….looks like the Chi has been in use. Nice!

I really like the tone of her voice – lovely.

  • Sunn

That was lovely. Again susan made me weep.
Well done susan, so very well done darling. Long may you prosper… wealth, health and happiness to you.

Okay you music experts out there. And I am definitely not one! I just like what I like. How do you classify Susan’s range and appeal and all of that???

I can’t speak intelligently about range and appeal I’m afraid, although I would guess that if Paul Potts, mediocre operatic singer at best, can sellout albums and appearances then so could she.
I can however direct you to a utube of her singing a beautiful version of “Cry Me A River” taken from a for charity CD she did a few years back.

Sunn: well that was a very nice song … I thought it was pretty… I just don’t get why some people make it in the music business and some don’t…

I loved her youtube clips from when we saw her on Britain’s Got Talent…I was annoyed at how people (the judges and audience) seemed to dismiss her at first.

I hope she has some success with all of this…

Thanks again for the youtube clip. :)

    She sounds amazing.

That was rather amazing, even though I’ve already heard her sing both those songs before.

As mj wrote, she’s seems quite relaxed.

Oh, someone else who disses Paul Potts? Heh, I have only heard him during a documentary that was broadcast on tv here, but I thought he had a lot of technical problems that would never make him a recognised opera singer. He struck me as someone with the talent to be great (range and all that) but without the stubborness to work on the basics.

wow…she seems very relaxed. What kind of drugs is she on? LOL.

  • lurksalot

Oh, and who is the guy that won AGT? They are touring together, I mean Paul Potts and whoever. Not my cuppa.

  • JudyOhio

Thanks for the link to “Cry Me a River” Sunn. I really liked how she sounded on that. Her voice is quite pleasant to listen to. In that particular song, her voice sounds younger than she looks. Kind of surprised me.

Neal somebody is the one touring with Paul Potts. Neal Boyd?

I don’t care for any of the folks in the “we pretend to be vaguely operatic for the hoi polloi” crowd. Charlotte Church, Andrea Bocelli, Paul Potts, Neal Boyd, Il Divo, Josh Groban… I don’t actually like real opera singers all that much, either, but at least I can tell there’s more than a gimmick there.

My disdain extends to Andre Rieu, the classical music conductor much beloved by the over-70 crowd and virtually unknown to anyone under-40.

It’s like “processed American cheese food” instead of real cheddar.

And honestly, I have nothing against Susan Boyle. I just think that a vaguely attractive 20-something with the same (or better) voice would’ve been booted immediately. In my mind, it’s just as superficial to inflate the value of her talent because she’s frumpy as it would be if she were a knockout.
