Survivor 33 Millennials vs Gen X Week 9 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

The episode begins with the tribe returning to camp after tribal council. Jay bemoans the fact he just lost a loyal ally in Michelle, and he presumes the Millennials will be the next targets. He says Hannah, Adam, and Zeke are stupid for siding with the Gen X-ers. Meanwhile, Chris feels confident being in the majority. Later Jay and Taylor talk game, and they know they have to work their way into a majority alliance somehow. They are also concerned about Adam too. We hear a confessional from Adam, and he says he feels better being in the bottom of the Gen-X alliance than voted out of the game (which was what Jay and his allies tried to do). Adam tells Taylor that they both know a secret about one another (Adam’s advantage and Taylor stealing food). While Taylor is eating his secret stash of food alone, he says he has more on Adam than Adam has on him.

The next day Jay tries to talk game with Hannah. She tells Jay that he and his allies were treating her like a goat, and she wanted to play an individual game. She wants to play to win than to be someone that is dragged to the end. She’s feels like she now has the chance to play the game on her own terms.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They will be divided into two teams of six. They will race through a series of obstacles to retrieve keys. They also must push a heavy chest under a net as a team. Afterwards, they must get bolos from the chest and toss them onto a target. The first tribe to land all the bolos on their target wins reward. There will be two team captains that will pick their teams. Chris and Hannah are selected as captains, and one team will be Purple and the other will be Orange.

PURPLE: Chris – Bret, Ken, David, Sunday, and Taylor

ORANGE: Hannah – Adam, Will, Zeke, Jay, and Jessica

Purple takes an early lead as Adam struggles with untying knots to retrieve a key. Ken opens the chest as Orange is still under the next. Taylor and Sunday get the bolos from the chest and are now throwing it on the target. The challenge is a complete blowout as Purple maintains their lead and all their bolos are on the target before Orange begins throwing the bolos. Purple wins reward! They will enjoy an afternoon at a resort with burgers and soft drinks.

We next see Chris, Bret, Ken, David, Sunday, and Taylor enjoy reward. Taylor is glad to have more food, and Bret drinks heavily to everyone’s amusement. We hear a confessional from Sunday, and she discusses the Gen X alliance. She still doesn’t trust David, Ken, and Jessica.

Back at the camp, Adam and Jay talk in the water. Adam tells Jay that Taylor is the reason Jay is on the bottom of the tribe and why Michelle was voted out. In his confessional, Jay calls Adam a jerk and that he was rubbing it Jay’s face that he’s on the wrong side of the numbers. Jay hopes he’ll be able to win immunity tomorrow. After his talk with Adam, Jay tells Will about his conversation with Adam while Hannah and Zeke are present. He calls Adam an ass**le, and Hannah and Zeke agree that Adam is not fun to play the game with. In his confessional, Zeke says he is annoyed with Adam telling other people they are on the bottom of the tribe. He says it wasn’t smart at all, and he wants Adam out of the game.

We next see Bret and Sunday talk game. Sunday is worried about Jessica since she wrote Jessica’s name down in a previous tribal council. Sunday hopes to use Jay as a possible number to take Jessica out of the game. Jay is 100% on board with taking Jessica out of the game since it’s not him, Taylor, or Will on the chopping block.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. It’s an endurance challenge as they must stand on a narrow beam while balancing a ball on a wooden bow in their hands. As the challenge progresses, they must step lower on the beam to increase the difficulty. If they drop their ball or fall off the beam, they are eliminated. They can opt out of the challenge before it begins if they feel safe. If they do, they get to eat ham and cheese sandwiches and drink soft drinks. Zeke and Will sit out. Afterwards, the challenge begins and Hannah is the first one out. The remaining contestants soon step down to a lower portion of the beam, and Bret is the next one eliminated. In the next section they must have one foot on the narrowest part of the beam, and Jessica, Sunday, David, and Chris all fall immediately. Adam is the next one out, and he’s followed by Jay. Taylor and Ken are the only ones left. Taylor drops his ball. Ken wins immunity!

The tribe returns to camp after the immunity challenge. David says in his confessional that it’s likely going to be either Taylor or Jay voted out tonight. David wants to split the vote, and Zeke and Chris agree. They ask Sunday if she’s on board with splitting the votes between Jay and Taylor. The majority alliance that voted out Michelle agree to split the votes between Jay and Taylor. However, Sunday wants Jessica gone tonight. She’s unsure whether or not she can get the numbers to take her out though. Meanwhile, Taylor shows Jay his hidden stash of food. As they eat, they call it their last meal since they’re certain one of them will be the next one out. However, Taylor still wants Adam gone. He tells Jay about Adam’s advantage to steal someone’s reward down the line. He wants to use this against Adam so he can have a target on his back. Jay is on board with using this against Adam. Taylor still wants his revenge against Adam for voting out Figgy.

It’s time for tribal council. Jay bemoans being in the minority, and Adam says tells him to join the club. Adam reminds him that lots of people have been blindsided already. Soon Taylor confesses that he has a hidden stash of food, and Adam helped him. Adam is angry that Taylor is lying, and he asserts that all he did was watch him hide the food. Taylor and Jay also admit to eating the rest of the food, and Taylor reveals the advantage Adam has. Adam admits this is true, but he’s adamant that his advantage does not have an effect on the game. Adam and Taylor are going back and forth as they throw each other under the bus. There are big reactions from the other tribe members after these revelations. Jay and Taylor go hard after Adam, but he stands up for himself and asserts he did not eat any of the food. Jay says he never would eat food from starving people. Adam calls Jay hypocritical since he already admitted to eating food with Taylor before tribal council. Jeff asks Hannah her thoughts about the vote, and she says it’s all about trust. Bret says that there have been several errors, and they need to figure out who is most culpable. Afterwards, it’s time for the vote.

Before the votes are read, Jeff asks if anyone wants to play a hidden immunity idol.  No one plays an idol.

The first vote is for…
