Survivor 30 Worlds Apart – Episode 11 Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap of the episode here.

The episode begins with Dan and Sierra talking about Shirin and Mike. They say they have no plans to jump to their side since those two are on the bottom of the totem pole. Meanwhile, Shirin is still upset about Will personally attacking her. Dan apologizes to Shirin and says he feels bad for her. However, Dan calls Shirin a drama queen and a hypocrite in his confessional and says that she deserved to be verbally assaulted by Will.

Reward challenge time. They must make their way across a sandy field using barrels and planks. If they or the planks touch the ground, they must restart. The winning team will win a nice meal with burgers and dessert. On the blue team is Mike, Shirin, Sierra, and Rodney and Carolyn, Dan, Tyler, and Will are on the red team. The teams are pretty even with different strategies. The red team has a methodical approach and are taking their time, whereas Mike is taking the lead of moving the barrels for his team. The blue team tries to change up their strategy when Mike gets too exhausted, but they have to start over as a plank touches the ground. The blue team then takes a risky approach of each tribe member standing and rolling on their own barrels, but only make it halfway before people fall off. They have to restart, but it’s too late. The red team makes it across the finish line and they win reward. As they make their way to their reward, Carolyn says in a confessional that she plans to try to sway Dan to her side since she believes he has many options in the game.

Back at camp, the tribe members who lost the reward challenge eat a chicken for lunch. Mike takes the blame for causing his team to lose the challenge. As well, Rodney is frustrated that he has yet to enjoy a reward. He then talks to Sierra, and she brings up the idea of voting out Tyler. Rodney wants to get rid of Shirin first, but Sierra believes Tyler is the bigger threat. Rodney says in a confessional he will consider each option since he says he is running the game.

Over at the reward challenge, they are enjoying themselves on a boat. Dan is glad to spend time with these people and says Mike will be the next one gone if he doesn’t win immunity. Dan is still mad at Mike for flipping to work with Shirin, and he is unaware that Carolyn and Tyler were actually targeting Mike earlier than agreed upon. Tyler says in a confessional that Dan does not see the big picture; he has only planned to Top 6. He thinks this is advantageous for him and Carolyn since Dan is only after Shirin and Mike, and he will have no clue what to do once only six people remain in the game.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. It’s an endurance challenge. They will hold a rope handle that will hold 25% of their body weight from Day 1. As the challenge continues, more weight will be added. The rope will unravel as the weights drop and people are eliminated with a bucket of water splashing over them. The last man and last woman standing will each win immunity. So tonight, two people will be safe from the vote. After fifteen minutes, Sierra is the first person to be eliminated from the challenge. Right afterwards, Tyler and Will drop out too. Minutes later, Dan is the next person out of the challenge. Four people remain: Carolyn versus Shirin and Mike versus Rodney. The next one to drop is Shirin and Carolyn wins immunity. It’s down to Mike and Rodney. After a tense showdown, Rodney drops and Mike wins immunity.

Back at camp, Carolyn is glad Shirin did not win immunity and that it will be an easy tribal council since she believes everyone will be voting her out tonight. Meanwhile, Shirin pleads her case to Dan to target Tyler. She says she’s not a threat and that a bigger threat should be taken out. Shirin then moves on to Sierra. She says she will stick with Sierra if she sides with her tonight. Sierra says in a confessional she will get rid of Tyler tonight only if two other people are on the same page.

Meanwhile, Tyler goes through Dan’s bag and learns about Dan’s extra vote advantage he won at the auction last week. He shares this information with Carolyn, and he’s worried Dan and Sierra will flip. Later on, Mike and Dan talk game and Dan says Mike’s best move would be for a hidden immunity idol to be played that will save Shirin. Mike once considered Dan his closest ally, but now he realizes Dan will not work with him anymore. He then says in a confessional that he would be willing to give the hidden immunity idol to Shirin to shake up the game at tribal council.

It’s time for tribal council. Jeff talks to Shirin first about the personal stories she shared last week. Shirin says it’s hard for her to trust people. Dan then says he was adopted and can relate to Shirin’s feelings, but Jeff calls him out and says that domestic abuse and adoption are completely different. The talk turns to game, and Shirin says it will be stupid if she gets voted out since she’s not a threat and Tyler should be the one targeted tonight. She says the other people following the numbers will surely lose since they refuse to take out a threat. Mike then pleads for people to write Tyler’s name tonight, but Tyler fires back and says Mike has not been loyal and should not be trusted. Before the votes are cast, Mike pulls out his hidden immunity idol and says he will play it for Shirin. He also says he will cast a throwaway vote. Either everyone else votes for Tyler or they could risk being voted out instead.

Before Jeff reads the votes, Mike does not play his hidden immunity idol for Shirin. He was bluffing about playing it, but did the others call his bluff? Tyler and Dan each receive two votes (Tyler and Will voted for Dan), but Shirin receives four votes. Shirin is voted out and the fourth member of the jury.

And that wraps up another episode of Survivor: Worlds Apart. Thanks for reading and come back next week for another live recap!
