According to the New York Post, now that  Jennifer Lopez is getting a big fat raise, worth up to 20 million a year as she closes in on a deal to return as judge to American Idol, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson are a little jellus! (Read more at the NY Post)

Despite being in the middle of a two-year deal that pays about 10 million dollars a year, Steven is now attempting to re-negotiate a sweeter deal with Idol.

One source told Page Six, “J.Lo’s management is close to brokering her a huge deal to come back to the panel for at least one more season, and but the side effect is that it means her fellow judges also want more money.

“Steven is halfway through a two-year deal, and his management has asked for more money,” the source said. “They argue he was just as sensational and as popular on the panel as Jennifer. But, on the other side, show bosses argue he’s tied into a deal and has to stick to it. However, it’s hoped they can come to a compromise to keep Steven happy, because the producers love him.”

According to the Post, “the money deal with J.Lo has been agreed, the final negotiations center around scheduling her “Idol” appearances around her other TV and movie commitments.”

A spokesman for Jennifer told the Post, “Talks are ongoing — she has nothing to announce as yet.”

Yes, Steven truly was sensational this last season … sensationally useless.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Randy better not complain. He was worse than useless this past season with his inconsistent criticisms and blatant hatred of Haley. He could easily be replaced and should be.

None of these judges deserve 20 Million. What the hell do they do that deserves 20 million? Jennifer is just using the show to pimp herself, and actually Steven is as well. Randy is just useless now. All of this greed leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I still cannot get over the amount of these *deals*…..especially since they also got such exposure for their own music during the year! In this day and economy….just wow! They should be so grateful!

    Jinxx, you owe me a coke…… ;)

Just another reason for me not to watch idol next year. I will be definitely tuning in to The Voice, and I will certainly check out XFactor.

JLO and Steven were terrible judges. They should have got a pay cut not an increase.

I really need to change both my profession and my approach to work. Who knew you merited $20 million a year for being a lazy idiot for, what, 30 weeks?

    Geesh.

I say give JLo’s 20 Mill to Tyler and replace JLo. Tyler was at least amusing and refused to be a sock puppet for the producers. I love JLo, but she caved and became the producer’s mouthpiece about a third of the way through the season.

    Well yeah,who wouldnt be jealous?

This is also the New York Post, who “learned exclusively” that Howard Stern was the frontrunner to replace Simon within days of announcing he was leaving. Look how bogus that story turned out to be. They’ll print anything to sell papers.

All the judges were useless, but at least Steven was amusing throughout much of the season. Jennifer blatantly used Idol to further her own almost dead career. Steven benefitted from the show as well, but not as outwardly obvious as JLo. They should be both paid equal to what Kara made in her 2nd season. She was *shudder* better.

Exactly. Jennifer showed so much potential in being a terrific judge. It was there and she caved in. I thin she didn’t want the audience to not like her or boo at her. The TV audience were buyers of her music and film. She didn’t want to offend them by being honest.

None of these three judges deserve more than a million dollars. Idol should use money to pay the contestants more money for the tour and allow them to bring their family to at least one concert. They are being cheap with the wrong people!

  • Hazehel

Idol is stupid if the report of $20 million deal is true. There must be dozens of previously high-profile singers who are now desperate to revive their career by appearing on Idol, and who are knowledgeable and witty, and will do it much cheaper. They need Idol more than Idol needs them.

Meanwhile, Idol is paying shit to its contestants working hard to make millions on the tour for Idol…

Yeah ,I don’t get it- if it wasn’t for the idols there wouldn’t be a show or tour -any Joe off the street could judge -wouldn’t that be fun having a guest audience member as judge every week! I really don’t know why the idols don’t get a fairer share of the kitty seeing it is them that most people tune in to see?
