Vote for the Worst is reporting that Nashville based singer/songwriter, Ann Marie Boskovich, made the Top 50, according to one of their posters.

ETA: Here she is singing “God Bless America” at the NBA All Star Game in 2003. Watch it after the jump.

And another recent video of a song called “Enough” watch it HERE.

I’ve been waiting for this one to break, as she’d taken down the music from her My Space recently.

She auditioned in Jacksonville, FL, so maybe we’ll see her audition on Tuesday.

She did a song for the Little Mermaid 2 soundtrack (it’s one of those straight to DVD deals).   Check it out here:

MJ, excuse me, did you just suggest that we check out a song from the Little Mermaid 6 soundtrack? I’m guessing it’s about as good as Kat’s Barbie song, but I’m afraid to check. (They made six of those things? really?) She probably should have tried out in Season 2.

^She’s a decent enough singer, just not great. What I’m hearing simply isn’t interesting. That’s not to say that she doesn’t have more tricks up her sleeve, but I can only judge based on what I’m hearing now.

It never ceases to amaze me, that year after year, the number of mediocre singers they manage to find. The number of really great singers is so minimal. I must be spoiled…or something.

    LOL. BOOM!

I will give her the benefit of the doubt tho after hearing her sing God Bless America- girl’s got some serious range, but unfortunately nothing “unique” about her at all that i can gather yet, which unfortunately for her, is probably the number 1 thing u need in this competition.

  • Suzanne

I wonder what everyone is looking for? I think she’s a very strong singer.

  • Dlynne

I wonder what everyone is looking for? I think sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a very strong singer.

I would agree with you, BUT she’s just not that interesting. After watching a season of Canadian Idol, I personally was hoping that we would see a group with that kind of personality and originality. Being a good singer.

Now, having said that, I found another video that I also think is her (but I’m not sure so I’m not linking it) and she’s rocking it out with a band with some serious stage presence. If that’s her, then she’ll be fun to watch.

This is so true, the amount of mediocre singers they pick every year is ridiculous and yet they always say they want to find the best, this isn’t the best. I’m always surpised how much good talent they don’t put through and put people like this on.

This is how I view Idol in the beginning stages. Idol always highlight the ones they want to do good, get the most airtime and pimp them out the most. Then there’s other people who are known as cannon fodder who aren’t that good but they get picked anyway so when it comes to the live shows they’ll get voted out first so it makes it easier for the pimped contestants to do well. Remember Amy Krebs last season, her audition was okay, she was an average singer they picked her anyway she was really bad and got voted out first. Why did they pick her anyway, oh yeah, they need cannon fodder just so they can have easy picks to get to voted off first.

Okay I’m a shut up now before I start rambling about all the manipulative things going on with this show and yet I still watch every year.

  • jimmyboyd2

Ever notice how they shower the fodder with praises in the auditions and then lambast them in the semifinals even though they weren’t any better in the auditions?

The judges are not honest at all. Simon and Randy overpraise in the auditions to set up the fodder for the voting rounds.

A prime example would be Alaina Alexander. My jaw dropped when Simon said she was “really, really, really great” in her LA audition. Yet in the semifinals, she was no worse than her audition but still got slaughtered in comments. It’s so obvious that they manipulate some of these situations.

I don’t really care if they don’t pick all the best singers, but how about being more honest about it?

  • Duke

Um, i think some people might be forgetting that finding 24 Fantasia’s, or Carrie’s, or Taylor’s, or Elliot’s, or Melinda’s isnt exactly an easy job. Those people are few and far between. The world isn’t full of these amazing/unique singers and sometimes they have to fill the gaps with the mediocre they are given. Thats why im a little worried about this top 36. I feel like we have already tapped into the best America has to offer from S1-S7, and now we are letting 12 more people get a chance at stardom.

    Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m looking for uniqueà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.

When you find it please let me knowà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.

Heh. That could take a while.

There are no two people alike in this world.

There are no two singers alike in this world.

If two singers are alike, then one (or two or three or four) is imitating the other.

This means someone is not unique.

  • nashrock

Ok everybody…the Little Mermaid recording is from when she was 13…the video is from when she was 16…If you would like to see a more recent video and one of her original songs, and I hope the administrator will post it as well..go to http://www.fastclips.com type in her name Ann Marie under the search…She is not a plant, she actually can play, write and sing…Peace!

edit: another one who needs to read my guidelines

  • Tess

Who am I to judge a Singer’s ability on snippets from totally unrelated to AI videos. When someone sings something for a “paying gig” they are at the mercy of the director…they sing like they are told. When someone sings at a sporting event they are singing to the far rafters or the highest bleachers.

I find it so very interesting that judgments are made of people and singers before they have taken the AI stage. If the AI audience has so many preconceived ideas about their faves prior to the competition no wonder good singers are eliminated early. Guess you need to develop a hefty fan base in utero in order to suceed on this show.

I, for one, like Ann Marie’s voice…whether it holds up during the competition is anyone’s guess.

Can we dial back the righteous indignation here? Everyone is entitled to an opinion without a finger wagging in their faces.

If you are new here, you absolutely need to read my guidelines

If you’re sensitive to criticism of your favorite, my blog is probably not the place for you.

  • nashrock

Not wagging a finger nor am I being overly sensitive, I am just stating facts…I feel what I left as a reply was very tame and to the point…anyways, I just wanted people to know they have something more to look forward to than by what people have pulled up from quite a few years ago…thats all…Peace!

  • snuffles

OK, I listened to the more recent clip of her singing and….:::SNORE:::::

  • seattle_girl

So help me if she makes it through and performs God Bless America on the show, I WILL drop kick my 42″ LCD tv across the room.
