I was gonna say See ya, bye to Evan and Melissa, but with them getting Broadway, Evan might still safe. (I can’t imagine that Melissa will stay at the expense of Jeanine, who should win it all!) I hate disco, hate hate hate it, so that might hurt Kayla and Brandon.

My final four remains (and fingers crossed for this):
    Brandon
    Jeanine
    Ade
    Kayla

I think Brandon is safe (after B2 last week), and if Jeanine doesn’t make Final 4, I will hate America forever. I didn’t want to have to vote–my fingers still hurt from voting for hours and hours for Adam–but I want Brandon and Jeanine in the finale, so I will do my best to bring them to it. Melissa is probably gone, baby, gone, but Evan could take it over Brandon or probably Ade.

I am SO excited about Jabba (no more Katie Holmes ? HA HA HA), but more excited about last year’s dances coming back. My favorite number of the entire season was Bleeding Love (Marksie!), and I loved Adam and Eve as well (absolutely spell-binding), but all four dances are really strong. WTG, Nigel and SYTYCD. Simon Fuller and TPTB at Idol: TAKE NOTE for S9.

PLUS!!! The 4 emmy-nominated routines will be performed on the results show:

Yay! It will be interesting to see how the performers grew over the year and to see all the Emmy noms in one place.

You know, the stupid Emmy’s should have some kind of dance medley with the nominated performances instead of random non-television related things like medleys from the Jersey Boys. But no, they hand them out a week early at the Creative Arts Emmys instead.

Seriously, is Bruce running the Emmys these days?

  • elainem

I’m so excited to see Marksie again, and I’m really excited to see Kayla dancing to Stacey Tookey’s work. I love everything she’s choreographed.

  • dhunken

Evan/Melissa – Broadway by Tyce and Quickstep by Louis Van Amstel. Well depending how the routine is choreographed Evan could do amazingly in the Broadway piece or they could have it choreographed poorly hoping he will get voted off and they can say that he went out on his style so no one can complain about favoritism. The Broadway piece could be a good fit for Melissa as some do incorporate Ballet. Quick step. On paper (Even being much shorter then Melissa) it is set up to be a disaster but I thought that about the waltz and that worked very well. Evan needs to Kill it in the Broadway. I hope he is not going first again. When are they going to let him go last.

Kayla/Brandon – Contemporary by Stacy Tookey and Disco by Doriana Sanchez Nigel definitely wants Brandon and Kayla in the finals. They are getting a contemporary which means they should knock it out of the park and Brandon already, by general consensuses, (not mine) did great in disco and Kayla technically can dance anything. I am sure the pimping for these two with be sickening. Not that I don’t think they are good. But I loved Adam and even I got sick on how they pimped him on American Idol. He did not need it and neither do these two.

Jeanine/Ade – Hip Hop by Napoleon & Tabitha and Rumba by Louis Van Amstel- this can be iffy. Ade is weakest in latin dance. His hip/hop for me was not spectacular just good. Jeanine is great but I will be interested to see if she has chemistry with Ade.

Based on just the spoilers I thing Nigel wants Brandon and Kayla definitely in top 4 and does not really care who fills the other two positions.

    Top 4:

    Kayla
    Evan
    Brandon
    Jeanine

But I may change my mind after they dance.

  • luvadamlambert

This should be interesting… I love evan but dont like melissa at all and now that they are paired together….. I am looking forward to the results showbecause this is my first season watching this show

  • LisaE

Is it wrong that I’m so much more excited to see the older performers? I just can’t get all that excited about any of the dancers this year. I don’t know if it’s the dancers or the choreography. All I know is that one week I’m impressed by a dancer and then she/he changes partners or genres and disappoints the following week. Argh! However, I do appreciate all the spoilers and posts because, despite not having a great year, it’s still the best reality show on TV! :)

  • vorona

    Mark! (Eeeeee!) Katee! (Eeeeee!)

Almost makes up for the loss of “my” Janette Manrara.

  • suebrody

LisaE, ITA. While I have liked a few dances this year (the one that stands out for me is Jeanine/Jason’s contemporary), most are like…hm…which one was that? (Oh, I also loved the Crash Test Dummies. A lot. You go, Wade!) Now, maybe it’s b/c I blogged the show last year for Blogging SYTYCD (a site that no longer exists, sob), but so many of the numbers stood out for me, and Marksie, Gevney, and Katee/Joshua were all great (plus I loved Will and Jessica, despite Will pimping and Jessica dissing). I liked last year’s Top 10 better than this year’s, except I was NOT a Comfort fan, and she only got to be top 10 b/c Jessica broke her ribs.

And Mark rocked my little world. Sigh. I voted like crazy for him, and was so pissed off that Twitch made it to the Finale and not him. It could have gone Courtney or Chelsie, and of course Joshua and Katee were going to be there, but Twitch? Seriously? OVER MARK? Oh no you didn’t…

Anyway…back to this year…I think Brandon and Jeanine and Kayla are all safe, and it will come down to Ade and Evan. And yes, I miss Janette too; she wuz robbed. Melissa, you are going HOME. HOME, I say, HOME.

  • cookcricket

Argh! I will be missing this show because RL prevails (but in a good way). I’m glad I will be able to watch it here and since I don’t vote it doesn’t matter anyway. I’ll still be watching the finale next week and am happy about that.

W/o seeing the dances I agree with dhunken on the top four. Ada and Brandon are too much alike to both make it to the top 4 imo. I also believe Brandon outshines Ade.

Girls: someone stated that if Jeanine doesn’t make it….well anyway I agree. However, I’m still quite sad that I will not be able to see Janette this week. :(

I still believe this is the classiest reality show on TV. I told my husband tonight we will probably never see Nigel dancing due to his statement about the contestants being the stars and not the judges. He was disappointed but understood. And this is someone who loves or has loved Simon. Hee!

IMO, Nigel is one class act!!!!

  • LindaT

Another disco routine? Ugh! Haven’t these dancers been tortured enough? However, looking forward to what the dancers do with the other numbers, especially Evan with Broadway, Brandon with contemporary and Jeanine in anything (yes, she’s my favorite girl).

Love seeing the old routines again, especially Mercy and A Los Amigos.

Why does SYTCYD seem to be a much better show than AI these days? Less filler, better pacing, judges with more relevant comments — the list goes on. Any chance that Nigel can exec. produce both SYTYCD and AI? No, I didn’t think so …. :(

  • Truthiness

Well thrilled about seeing Marksie and Bleeding Love again and Adam And Eve. Tyce does so much better when he’s doing contempo and not his hackneyed Broadway pieces. I think the last Broadway piece I liked of his was the Hairspray one from S2 for Benji/Donyelle.

I thought the Mia Twitch/Katee piece was overrated and hope it doesn’t win the Emmy. Same for the Chelsie/Josh piece, much as I love Dmitri and great that he got nominated. As well as I’m thrilled he got a gig on DWTS.

If other pieces could be nominated, I would have loved to have seen Mia’s group opening piece to The Dance nominated. My absolute favourite of the group numbers last year, followed by Wade’s group opening the week before to the Robyn song. Although the latter had a bit of self-indulgence by the judges (yes, shockingly Nigel does it too, and it’s not just on AI) but still, I liked it despite that.

  • KrazeeK120

I’m SO excited to see HAWTsie again :) Bleeding Love was my favorite last year!! I like the other three pieces too. It’s great that the dancers from previous seasons are coming back to perform!!

  • lucy

Well depending how the routine is choreographed Evan could do amazingly in the Broadway piece or they could have it choreographed poorly hoping he will get voted off

Of course, Tyce is quite capable of choreographing poorly without any agenda whatsoever, especially when it comes to Broadway, lol.

Tyce loves Melissa, though, doesn’t he? So it seems that he’ll probably try to choreograph to make her look good — so that argues to me that he’ll be trying to do a super good job. One of the (few) Tyce Broadway routines that I’ve ever really liked was the Melissa/Brandon Hair one. And there he obviously did his utmost to make Melissa look good, I think. Brandon outdanced her and looked even better, however. So Evan may have his chance to do that as well. In that number, he choreographed Melissa’s part so much to her strengths that he had to put in quite different choreo for Brandon, so I would think he could end up doing that in this dance as well.

  • Mary102

PLUS!!! The 4 emmy-nominated routines will be performed on the results show:

Woo-hoo! This actually made me the happiest out of all the spoilers above :-) After seeing all the old great routines last week and just wanting more, this is perfect :-) And a special congrats to Dmitry for getting an emmy nomination! (Though I know it’s kind of old news)

Here’s hoping Travis follows this year for his brilliant routine a few weeks back.

Not really feeling too many of the routines this week. I hate the discos the most, typically, but at least Brandon gets to do it, so it should be awesome. Evan will automatically be saved, because he is like this year’s Ivan – if he’s great he’s safe, if he’s panned he shows the puppy dog eyes, gets the pity votes and is safe. Argh.

    Final 4 s/b:

    Brandon
    Ade
    Jeanine
    Kayla

    Final 4 will be:

    Brandon
    Evan
    Jeanine
    Kayla

  • unique28v

“I was gonna say See ya, bye to Evan and Melissa, but with them getting Broadway, Evan might still safe.”

I find it interesting that the 2 non-contemporary dancers were paired together. I think Evan and Melissa will be safe for that reason. Kayla and Jeanine will split votes since they dance the same style, and Brandon and Ade will split votes. I think Melissa and Evan will be in the finals since they are not sharing votes with any of the remaining contestants. The queston is who will join them? Thats my theory at least.

  • butte009

I thought the Mia Twitch/Katee piece was overrated and hope it doesn’t win the Emmy.

I agree. I absolutely HATE, HATE, HATE that song for one. I have no idea how Twitch got through to the T4. And I still think Katee was over-rated – just like Kayla this year. Chelsea should have been T4 instead of either Courtney/Katee.

I would love to see Dmitry win the Emmy over the others.

The WORST T4 scenario for me would be Evan, Ade, Kayla, and Melissa. So that’s probably what will happen. My preference at this point would be Brandon, Ade, Jeanine, and Kayla.

Are all the girls taller than Evan? Will Melissa be relegated to flats and Evan 3 inch heels for the QS?

Will Brandon be able to lift Kayla easily in the Disco? She’s not tiny Janette after all.

    ETA: Love the Jabbawockeez!!

  • canadiandcfan

this looks like a great lineup. so happy to see stacy tookey back! i’m with the majority in wanting to see a Brandon/Ade/Jeanine/Kayla top 4 finale, but I think this will be a great show. wooot

  • SpenserJ

It could have gone Courtney or Chelsie, and of course Joshua and Katee were going to be there, but Twitch? Seriously? OVER MARK? Oh no you didn’t’ ¦

Twitch was my favorite last year. I voted for him like a crazy person. I think he’s a great dancer with an incredible amount of rhythm and fantastic body control.

I’m still a little disappointed over the Janette thing. I really did hope she’d take it all. But alas, I guess I must move on.

I’m pretty darn excited to see Chelsie and Katie and Twitch. I really enjoyed the Bleeding Love dance a LOT. Also, there can never be too much of Shirtless Will, so that’s a thumbs up from me.

I want to see Brandon & Ade in the T4. But, I’m assuming at this point, that’s not going to happen. There is a lot of Evan love in America. He didn’t even hit the bottom in the 2 weeks where his partner dances were mediocre at best. And, I suspect he’ll do well this week. Tyce will choreograph a Broadway routine that caters to his style, because I’m sure he’s been waiting for the opportunity to do so. Even though I think Tyce can be a shitty choreographer, I’m guessing this one will be rather successful.

Also, considering the steps required in the various ballroom dances, I actually think the Quickstep is the one Evan should be able to do. He might actually be able to hit all of the elements of this one.

I hope to see Jeanine in the Top 4. Other than that, I’m pretty neutral. Although, I think I like Melissa a teensy bit better than Kayla. (I know I’m the odd man out on that one).

I do love Louis though, can’t wait to see him boss the dancers around. And, it’s always fun to watch a couple attempt one of Doriana’s insane disco routines. Should be a fun show, even without my favorite SYTYCD girl crush.

  • clearone

Damn…..Melissa with Evan??? Why did they have to do that to Evan? She better not drag him down. He FINALLY has his Broadway routine and he gets stuck with her. I pray he nails it and it makes her look bad then shes gone. She’ll have to earn her keep this week after the gift she got last week.

Mark and Chelsie!!!! Yahoo!! I lurve Mark to bits. The only one that could be better is if they bring back Neil…..sigh. :wub_tb:

  • brie200

I’m more excited for last year’s dances too. Though I think I’m the opposite of most here in that I never really got Bleeding Love. It was mostly a lot of headbanging and stomping on Chelsie’s part and next to nil in the hip hop department. I like both No Air and Party People (Mark/Comfort) better than Bleeding Love. That and the fact that Chelsie was never called on the fact that she was weak at hip hop, but no matter because I like her.

It’s funny even though those are the Emmy nominated routines, they aren’t my faves. I’d rather watch Katee/Josh dance together and watch Courtney/Mark do The Garden.

  • suebrody

Ooh, I LOVED The Garden! I thought that would save Mark. :( Oh, well… He is on Twitter BTW (of course I know that ;-) ), but he rarely posts.

  • sidney

Ok I am quite happy to see Twitch and Joshua in the results show ..I did hope to see the rutine from season 3 with Danny and Neil w/ the two chairs though..
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8xMoixytNQ

  • t2

Mark was the big highlight of last season for me. I had a soft spot for Twitch but thought that Mark was the most interesting dancer last season. So glad they are doing the Bleeding Love performance on the results show. It’s the only performance I completely remember from last season — although they tried to force feed that door thing down my throat…again…and again…

  • clearone

Ok I am quite happy to see Twitch and Joshua in the results show ..I did hope to see the rutine from season 3 with Danny and Neil w/ the two chairs though..
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8xMoixytNQ

Ooo thank you for posting that! I had forgotten how cool it was. Neil rocks. I thought he was terribly underrated.

  • ettacandy

Louis Van Amstel is the bomb. He should choreograph every ballroom dance they have to do.

And Louis is, shall we say, vertically challenged himself. I have my fingers crossed for a great night for Evan but as has been said already: it could go either way. While he’s my favorite I do think he’s on the bubble. I’ll throw in my votes!

I simply cannot believe how much I love this show. I only started watching so I could continue to hang out with all you cool people, after the AI season ended! Nigel should totally give MJ a shout out!!!

  • dbt

This is Evan’s 2nd Broadway number, isn’t it? I seem to remember him dancing a Broadway piece much earlier in the season .. and the judges saying they were a little disappointed in his performance since it was his style.

And why does Melissa never get hip-hop, krump ?

I HATE HATE HATE disco … sorry to see that disco is back this week. They need to ditch that genre as fast as they did the austrian polka (or whatever that folk dance was).

  • lucy

Twitch was my favorite last year. I voted for him like a crazy person. I think he’s a great dancer with an incredible amount of rhythm and fantastic body control.

Twitch was my Evan of season four. I absolutely love both of them when they’re dancing their own styles, but I don’t think either had anything close to the versatility that I’d like to see in somebody who makes it to the final four.

I think I’ll be seeing Evan in the final four, though, just like I saw Twitch there. And I think I might even like it less than I liked that — to me, Twitch was incredibly far behind on the specific techniques needed but had such a fabulous stage presence and general physical ability that I sometimes could overlook that, while Evan has more of the specific technique required, I think, but just isn’t even close to convincing to me when it comes to a lot of the emotions they’re supposed to be expressing.

All in all, I’m more excited for Wednesday night than for Tuesday, though. I like this top six, but they don’t really get me very excited.

  • butte009

He FINALLY has his Broadway routine and he gets stuck with her. I pray he nails it and it makes her look bad then shes gone.

I love how optimistic you are. Broadway covers a lot of styles. People were so sure that Evan would wow everyone with his last Broadway routine. And while respectable (hate that Joey choreographer) he definitely didn’t live up to the hype. Excuses followed – not his particular Broadway style. Yes. Yes. Sure. I understand. It was unfortunate.

I’m however much more pessimistic. I can’t see Tyce throwing Melissa under the bus for the sake of showcasing Evan’s niche Broadway style (as good as he is in it). Tyce has a connection with Melissa because the the Cancer Dance. If anything Tyce will play to Melissa’s strengths, JMO. I wish it weren’t so.

Based on everything that’s happened in the season so far here are the two scenarios that I see for Evan during the Broadway judges’ comments
1: He nails it and Melissa does less than stellar. The judges blame Evan for not bringing Melissa up to his level. She is a ballerina after all. He should have supported her more.
2: They do a respectable job. Melissa is given an uber tongue bath (she is a ballerina after all) and Evan disappoints them – it is his genre after all.

  • champ

oh man i’m so excited. the emmy dances are going to steal the whole week!

  • wand3rful

Great news about the 4 nominated emmy dances….i am more excited to see those guys than this year’s contestants.

Unless Evan poops on the dance floor…he is not going home. He can do NO wrong in the eyes of the voting public.

Look for either Ade or Melissa to sneak into that top 4…dont be too sure that Kayla or Brandon are safe.

I would think Miss Miami’s votes might float over to Jeanine (only bc both are brunette LOL but in all honesty, they seem to be sharing fans, based on posts).

possible occurance…last week’s cancer dance MIGHT have pulled in casual viewers to this week’s show and perhaps gained Melissa and Ade new fans.

the only shock would be Evan NOT making the top 4

  • wand3rful

i also wonder if the judges will be careful not to throw Evan under the bus…to avoid the sympathy votes and angering his fan base. meaning, they will give him (faint) praises but then just focus on melissa…hmmmm, stay tuned! should be an interesting evening

  • SpenserJ

Excuses followed – not his particular Broadway style. Yes. Yes. Sure. I understand. It was unfortunate.

Excuses follow Evan wherever he goes. I know I’m in the minority, but I think Melissa is a great dancer. She has a serious set of skills. I don’t anticipate her struggling too much with a Broadway routine. Where I think she might run into trouble is the pace of the Quickstep.

  • http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=iamthepurplewalrus&view=videos purplesmile

I didn’t follow last season so of those to be reprised, I’m only really familiar with the Bleeding Love routine, which I loved/love and watch again every now and then. I look forward to seeing what I understand to be also good ones that I’d missed.

(I also liked No Air then, but for some reason I wasn’t really feeling Katee much.)

Fortunately, I have been following this season and I have loved Jeanine from the beginning (initially mainly because she was paired with Phillip, who I have always liked, but later on, despite Phillip, lol). I woud love to see her make it to the finals and perhaps, win. I am afraid to hope too much, though, because I have never had a “reality” show/competition top favorite win yet. (Oh…other than Ethan Zohn on Survivor Africa, that is. :D )

ETA: Wait…I rooted for the Jabbawockeez, too, and they won. Yay!

(Maybe there is hope for Jeanine, after all… :D )

  • KrazeeK120

I still believe this is the classiest reality show on TV. I told my husband tonight we will probably never see Nigel dancing due to his statement about the contestants being the stars and not the judges.

Nigel has danced on the show before. On a results show with a bunch of kids. I don’t remember when it was, but I know it happened.

Evan will automatically be saved, because he is like this year’s Ivan – if he’s great he’s safe, if he’s panned he shows the puppy dog eyes, gets the pity votes and is safe. Argh.

Well, Ivan didn’t make the finals so those “puppy dog eyes” only got him so far, didn’t they? Ivan also had 3 of (what are widely regarded to be) the best performances of that season…the contemporary, first Argentine tango, and Sexy Love hip-hop (all with Allison). So I’d hardly say that his puppy dog eyes got him to 3rd place.

Speaking of Argentine tango…what happened with Alex De Silva was really stupid and sad. He is a fabulous choreographer and it’s too bad they haven’t found someone of equal ability to replace him.

Also, I’m pretty sure that NappyTabs’ Bleeding Love routine was their ONLY good idea EVER…and while it was my favorite of last season, I’m really not sure that they deserve an Emmy nomination for it.

  • http://www.twitter.com/sarahruth3 Sarah

I think I’m the opposite of most here in that I never really got Bleeding Love. It was mostly a lot of headbanging and stomping on Chelsie’s part and next to nil in the hip hop department. I like both No Air and Party People (Mark/Comfort) better than Bleeding Love.

You are not alone… I feel the same way. :) That was more of a contemporary routine that was sort of inspired by a few hip hop moves here and there. I liked it well enough, but I didn’t think it was some big breakthrough routine for NapTab or anything.

It’s funny even though those are the Emmy nominated routines, they aren’t my faves. I’d rather watch Katee/Josh dance together and watch Courtney/Mark do The Garden.

Again, same here. lol. I looooooved The Garden, and there are at least 4 Katee/Joshua dances that I loved – No Air, Bollywood, the Wade jazz from the finale, and Mia’s contemporary to Adele’s “Hometown Glory” (severely underrated routine, imo).

I probably won’t be watching tomorrow (at least, not watching live), but I’ll probably watch Thursday’s show now, because I’d love to see some of those dances again. :)

  • Truthiness

I still believe this is the classiest reality show on TV. I told my husband tonight we will probably never see Nigel dancing due to his statement about the contestants being the stars and not the judges.

Nigel has danced on the show before. On a results show with a bunch of kids. I don’t remember when it was, but I know it happened.

I think he danced Aug. 7th, 2008. He was also part of a group number earlier in tht season when he was ‘kidnapped,’ by the dancers, tied up on a chair in the middle of the stage while they danced around him. Oh and later in that season, during the Fosse inspired group opening bit to Money Makes The World Go ‘Round, the “money,” they used and threw around had Nigel’s face on it, which we as the audience knew because the cameras panned to it at the end. IIRC about that last part. But maybe Nigel got it out of his system and is over that now, because I gather he hasn’t continued that this year.

  • brie200

Mary danced as well. Though I will say in this case I don’t mind. For both Nigel and Mary it seemed more like a one off performance as opposed to something they would do every year. Not to mention, they both actually have dancing backgrounds and can dance–if perhaps not as well as they did in their youth.

Sarah, I’m with you. Hometown Glory was one of the most underrated dances last season and I’m not sure why it didn’t get more attention considering it was a Mia dance and danced by a popular couple.

I understand why Bleeding Love is popular, but it’s one of those that gives me a WTF in terms of it getting nominated for choreography. If it worked, it was because Chelsie and Mark (I refuse to call anybody “Marksie”) sold the emotion behind it, but choreographically there is little to the whole thing.

  • suebrody

If it’s Kayla, Ade, Evan, and Melissa, I don’t think I’m going to bother watching. Aside from Twitch, I liked the other Top 4 last year (THO I wanted Chelsie and Mark in there). The only one of these four whom I am remotely interested in is Ade, and he is not as strong as Brandon.

  • karaokequeen

I like all three guys for different reasons, so I think I’ll be ok with whoever among them makes the final 4. Evan’s not up to the other two technically, but he’s very engaging, esp. when he dances in his own style. Of course, I have a soft spot for Broadway, so maybe that’s what’s doing it…I hope Tyce does good by him!

As for the girls, I wanted the two J’s, but I guess I’ll have to settle for just one. :-( Between the other two, I prefer Kayla – didn’t care for her at the start of the season, but I’ve warmed up to her quite a bit. Melissa’s just never done it for me, partly because ballet is the one form of dance I know a teeny-tiny bit about and I don’t think she’s that great a ballerina. Though to be fair, this isn’t America’s Favorite Ballet Dancer.

  • http://www.irish-wolfhounds.com Buderschnookie

I HATE HATE HATE disco ‘ ¦ sorry to see that disco is back this week. They need to ditch that genre as fast as they did the austrian polka (or whatever that folk dance was).

    I agree.
Dorianna Sanchez must have some serious dirt on Nigel, otherwise why is she so heavily featured each season?
Enough of her and her annoying genre!

  • Grammie Kari

I know I am a minority here, but I love the Disco! I hope a good song is chosen, so I can really enjoy it. Maybe I love it because it’s the music I danced to, whereas I am not fond of Hip Hop.

Janette should have been in the TOP 4, but I will vote for Jeanine this week.

PLUS!!! The 4 emmy-nominated routines will be performed on the results show:

I love seeing Dmitry again, and Chelsie was one of my favorites. YAY!
