This is why I think this season pretty much sucks overall. I am not liking it anywhere near as much as last season. Most of these people grate on my nerves more than peak my interest.

Just the opposite for me- last year bored me to tears except for Evan who turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment to me.
But this year my interest is totally piqued by Jakob, Nathan, and Ellenore.

What disturbs me most about this season is the way they seem determined to sabotage Russell. I feel as if they got to toot their progressive horns by exclaiming “First Krumper!! Yay us!! We Accept All!!”, then looked around and realized how popular he was and freaked out. They want him out, no doubt about it.
He’d better get something not ridiculous next week. Get rid of stupid, vapid, squinty eyed Kevin but not my adorable Russell!

But these judges don’t know the first thing about judging Bolly dance. Each season, all they say is ‘I loved it, so entertaining, great costumes’  and ‘I’m proud that we represent all types of dances on this show’ .

haha, so true. ive watched bollywood flicks, and in comparsion, some of these dances are painful to watch. that was my main beef w. mollee and nathan’s routine, it lacked sharpness and precision. its easy to get distracted w. the pretty costumes, makeup and music, and not pay attention to their actual techniques.

With this statement, I agree. Kayla and Jeanine are leaps and bounds above Mollee. And IMO, they are also leaps and bounds above many of this season’s dancers as are a lot of the Top 10 from Season 5. This is why I think this season pretty much sucks overall. How do you feel about the guys? this season, i seem to be more invested/ interested in the boys (unlike season 5 when the girls had my full attention). although i will say kathryn is slowly growing on me big time. i think ellenore and her might have top 4 potential. i think jakob, nathan, legacy, ryan and maybe kevin/russel could make an interesting top 5 for the boys. and who knows, maybe victor will step up his game?

Bollywood style, whether it is slow or fast, is very crisp and clean. You can tell even from far away exactly what the dancer is doing with their hands, arms, legs, and feet. Modern Bolly fuses in hip hop, latin, and jazz stylings. It really has no element of contemporary/lyrical in it.

Katee & Joshua had the best Bolly by a mile. They were crisp & clean & always smiling. They danced it better than most Bolly dancers themselves do, with that added athleticism that’s unique to American dance styling. Plus the choreo was spot-on modern Bolly.

Caitlin & Jason had a more athletic/technical piece which wasn’t very Bolly. But they executed it well.

Mollee & Nathan had a more classical Bolly dance, esp the music, which is from a period-piece movie. Their performance was by far the worst. Nathan was passable, but I couldn’t even tell what Mollee was doing most of the time. Utter fail IMO.

I thought Nigel said there will be a few new dances this season?

It will be good for the viewers to now select who is their favorite!

Jakob might just drag Ash into the top 10. Despite not being a fan, I cant say Noelle or Channing belong there more so than her. She’s at least keeping up with Jakob and his insane extensions and dance ability. I agree with Nigel, wish I could have seen him and Billy Bell go toe to toe.

Really impressed with Legacy and Kathryn..they have great chemistry (IMO more so than Ryan and Ellenore). However, I do adore Ellenore, great dancer and full of personality. Ryan is okay for me but he does deserve a spot on the tour.

Karen has natural sex appeal…when you got it, you got it. She reminds me of a young JLo from her Fly Girl days….but without the attitude.

I’ve seen glimpses of greatness from Nathan but still no standout performance. Competition is still young. I think he will really blossom once he enters the top 10.

Really enjoy Russell in general, but he needs a contemporary or jazz piece asap to showcase his emotion and musicality. he comes alive in the hip hop pieces, but last week, he was just blah.

I must say, with the exceptions of Channing, Noelle, and Victor…all of the dancers are at least making an impression on me. Im becoming more invested in this season than last year. Maybe its the dancers, or maybe it was that top 20 special show….whatever it is, Im enjoying it.

What does everyone want from Mollee? she is cute and a great dancer, it’s not her fault that they showed her to us so much in the beginning. she is 18 years old, give her a break! I think that the BOllywood routine was the best of the night.

cant speak for everyone, but I want her to be a great dancer. period. she’s not, she’s just passable.

Once an idea is planted into the viewers’ minds by the judges, it’s hard to see past that no matter what happens. I thought tonight, she made great strides in that area, but I guess we are seeing different things. She was one of the very few who made me sit up and take notice.

I didn’t like her from the very beginning, since her audition. I feel like she’s an over-rated performer, despite the judge’s/producers trying to work the “girl turning into a woman” angle. Her bollywood routine was weak. She dances like a cheerleader, perky and upbeat, but rarely on beat and never finishes her extensions. Plus, she’s not sharp in any of her steps, she just flops her limbs around. Very unimpressed.

Also, isn’t Karen the professional dancer? Or do I have her mixed up with someone else. While I know it’s not prohibited, I really don’t like to see a pro competing with the other kids who are probably just trying to get a foot in the door as professionals. Can’t pull or vote for a pro, no matter how good they are.

Forgot to add that I am NOT a fan of the camera work this season. I never have been, but it’s extra bad this time around. Too many fade in/fade out transitions that blur the movement. Too much swinging around, taking away from the movement of the dancing itself. And a few times last night they were shooting from stupid angles like far on the right side so you could only see one dancer’s back. Or they’d cut off someone’s feet. Um — stop it!

Vorona, Mary Murphy must fit into that thing about crisp noises. Argh, that scream.

Ha! You’d think so, wouldn’t you? But she actually doesn’t bother me a bit. I like her. My sister lives next to the dance studio she owns/owned in San Diego, and she said she used to hear that scream and laugh sometimes at night. She asked me if it was awful being in the SYTYCD studio with her when I saw a taping, but honestly, you could barely hear her over the audience cheering.

The Paula Chair. Adam was kinda funny on that too… calling Nigel a cold hearted snake for pushing the chair over to him. I guess he is not a Pauler fan.
