Kherington and Gev are Eliminated… - VIDEO

That was a bit of a shock, no? Comfort, who didn’t make the Top 10 is now in the Top 8! Kherington didn’t have a good night on Tuesday, but I assumed she had a fanbase that would pull her through. It turns out Twitch had the fan base, because he avoided the Bottom 4 altogether.

But, I suppose with the viewers finally deciding who goes home, rather than the judges, the results were bound to be turned upside down, no?

I’m still really impressed by Lil’ C. I love his florid language and crazy analogies. He’s a straight shooter whose advice is so good, ya can’t take offense, even when he’s tough. I’m wondering what that little lecture he gave Kherington about taking constructive criticism was all about. She did put on quite the bitch face while facing the judges Tuesday night.

Speaking of Kherington, I’ve said before that I felt she was overrated. She’s a better overall dancer than Comfort, but I have to say Comfort was a better hip-hop partner for Twitch. The judges cut Kherington way too much slack for her middlin’ hip-hop performances.

My fav Gev is gone. But in that crowded field of talented guys, it’s not a surprise.

I’m going to say Comfort will go next week. On second thought, maybe I won’t.

ETA: Thanks to the readers who answered my question about Lil’ C. In a backstage clip during the re-cap, Kherington said, “The judges hate me”. That’s probably what Lil’ C was referring to.

  • KrazeeK120

Um, I can only get 10 points. I see my status on the pool slipping fast.

Comfort, please go home so I can get some points!

  • lilbrusc102

NO! not GEV!!!!!!! That stinks….I teared up quite a bit for him, he is just so darn lovable and I’m going to miss him next week. His solo today was amazing, so I guess that’s a nice send off, but still….I’m so sad…

  • champ

I knew it would be Kherrington!!! Comfort’s fan base wasn’t going to let her go TWICE! Aaah!! Too bad I didn’t sign up to do the game!

  • jodeb

With Gev eliminated, does that mean that Mark goes back to Ms. Hightower? Since Mark is my favorite, that would be great as he had never been in the bottom until Chelsea and him broke up.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

Oh – I am soooooo sad that Gev had to leave-
Boo hoo, I didnt much care between Kherington or Comfort but am sooooo happy Courtney is still there. Oh so little butch girl gets to stay and continue looking gawky and absurd in the dances meant for females, ugh!!!! Sorry but I soooo wanted to like her a few weeks ago-I was really sticking up for her then but she only brings it one way and that is snap, crackle and pop. I guess that is three ways. I shouldnt say yay for Mark and Twitch because really really I wish little Gev was still there. This is getting tougher now -

  • champ

I want to see Mark dance with Courtney.

  • AInoob

Gev’s clip made me tear up, dammit. He’s right, why did they have to pick that song?! I’m going to miss seeing him, like Lil C said, he dances with heart and I enjoyed watching his performances every week. And his solos were fantastic. I’m sorry to see Kherington go this week only because, quite frankly I don’t want to have to sit through more of Comfort’s performances. But I think if not this week, she likely would have gone next week anyway.

Twitch looked upset to see Kherington go when they showed him on camera after the announcement. Courtney looked like she was crying. Judging by the dancers’ reactions, I think this was the most emotional results show yet for them.

  • KrazeeK120

I think the couples next week will be:

    Mark/Comfort
    Twitch/Courtney
    Joshua/Katee
    Will/Chelsie

And yay for me getting zero points this week. I can’t even randomly guess the bonus questions right.

  • catdog

What bullshit! I love Kherrington and Gev! Comfort should have gone! I just know that K had lost some of her drive and with last night’s comments from the judges, it did her in. And Gev is adorable! What a shame!

  • lalalalax3

I am not happy with the results.
I loved Gev and I was so sad to see him go. I was expected, but still heartbreaking. I think I was secretly rooting for him more than anyone else.
And Kherington leaving over Comfort just made me mad.
I’m not even the biggest Kherington supporter, but she was SO much better than Comfort.

I’m rooting for Courtney and Mark. I guess they’d be considered underdogs, since they aren’t Katee, Joshua or Will. But Courtney and Mark are my favorites. Too bad Mark will most likely go home next week. I also love Chelsie and Twitch.

This season overall has not been impressive. The judges clearly have their favorites and I think its so obvious that either Katee, Joshua or Will is going to win. Seriously, can we just eliminate everyone else and crown a winner now? The judges have pushed those three so hard that no one else even has the slightest chance. They can do no wrong. But I honestly think there are others who are just as good. This has been something that’s bothered me all season.

And Wade and Shane were both nominated for Emmys. Okay, so can you get them back please? The choreography this season, IMO, has been less than impressive. I want Wade and Shane back. I think they’re both brilliant and without their choreography, the show is definitely missing something.

Anyway, I’m signing off on this season because I really hate what its turned into. I should probably congratulate Katee, Joshua and Will right now since is evident that one of them already has the title. Yeah, I’m just slightly bitter, but at this time, I don’t even care.

  • ladymadonna

Such a bummer to lose Gev. His solo tonight was sick, as always, and I will miss him tremendously. Nigel’s group routine was like William Wingfield and the Pips. I think Will’s about to feel some villian backlash from Gev & Mark’s fanbases. What’s the over-under on a Comfort/Mark pairing next week (maybe with a Quickstep thrown in for good measure)?

  • JudyOhio

Awwww, Gev is gone. I hate that. Hate it, hate it, hate it. :sad_tb:

  • spritely

That was sad tonight. I esp. felt for the girls having to go through the elimination right after that emotional dance by Mia.

Just when I became a fan of Gev, he’s gone, darn it. His solo was incredible. He’ll be a hit on the tour.

Comfort. Huh. Based on that one dance last night. Huh.

Not gonna get easier from now on.

  • daisy

Completely BS that Comfort stays, and Kherington goes, I am not even much of a fan, but damn, Comfort is becoming the NikkI Mckibben of this season, stinks :mad_tb:
Gev is adorable, but I was sweating bullets for Twitch, who I adore next to my chosen one Joshua, I will miss Gev and his awesome moves and his crushing on Courtney, loved it.
He does dance with his heart, and I would have gladly have Will exit to have him stay..

Can I say that Cat is the most awesomely hostess of a reality show ever, she puts Ryan and the inane banter with the judges to shame, always complimentary, adorable and “gets” that the show and the dancers are the stars, thanks Cat, you need a Emmy nomination stat

My fav Joe Jackson song, wow, even when choreographed by Nigel who I cannot stand, the boys did it justice..

  • jodeb

Is it going to be musical chairs with everyone getting new partners? Or will Mark go back to Chelsie the same way that the two partners left from the eliminated guy and girl simply pair up.

Gev. loses Chelsie, she goes to Mark who lost Kherington and everyone else remains the same???

Or is it musical chairs with everyone getting new partners? Not sure how it works.

  • jodeb

One more thing. You just knew that they were going to give Comfort a pass this week because she came back. She will be gone next week, IMHO.

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

awwww poor Gev. I hated to see him leave tonight. He was really beginning to grow on me. I really liked him. Count me in as one of the ticked that Comfort left over Kherrington. I know she probably was on borrowed time, but WTH????

  • dbt

(*&^(*&^$@^!! What!? How on earth did Comfort manage to stay? Kherrington’s dances were not super last night (she and Mark drew the short straw for dances and choreography me thinks) … but she (and every other girl left) is waaaay better than Comfort. That just makes me mad. So Comfort didn’t make the top 10, but she’s now in the top 8. !*&%@%

Hate, hate losing Gev. His solos are unbelievable! Poor guy — lost Courtney and now out of the competition.

Katee… is there something wrong with me? She’s a very good dancer, but for some reason, she sort of bores me. Personality-less?

Don’t want to see any more guys leave.
Can’t wait to see next week’s couples. Please, give Mark something to work with. He deserves a break after drawing that 2 Step.

  • ladymadonna

Or is it musical chairs with everyone getting new partners? Not sure how it works.

In past seasons they have switched-up the partners every week from the Top-10 until the finale. In the finale (which is Top-4), they each do one dance with each of the remaining dancers. So unless they radically change the structure of the show, it’s musical chairs from here on out.

  • mpl009

They get new partners every week from now on

  • kozisedso

Gev going and Comfort staying – that’s a double whammy. At least I had a good laugh over the “mystery” choreographer. And I agree with Daisy – Cat Deeley should have been nominated for an Emmy.

PS – I’ve been a long-time lurker here and just want to say to MJ – you rock!

  • http://kmantoniva.blogspot.com/ KristiVA

KrazeeK120 – I say once again…GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!! LOL

*Maybe we were separated at birth?* :drunk_tb:

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

Oh please give Comfort to Will so the comparison of extreme technique will be sooo completely noticible against Comforts extreme lack of it and then give them another , po duh, the cute name someone gave Wills dance last night. Then put her in another powder blue Alice and Wonderland dress with white eyeshadow for good measure. Just a tad bitter about her staying, yes.

  • http://dreambabysdreams.blogspot.com/ Dream Baby Dream

    *sniffle* I am sad.

I fully expected it to be Gev who was eliminated out of the guys. IMO, with 2 contemporary dancers and 3 hip hop/b-boys left, it was definitely going to be one of the hip hop guys. And I have had the feeling since the Top 20 that Gev would be the first of those three to be eliminated. He is AMAZING as a solo dancer, and he really surprised me with some of his partner routines…but I never felt like he showed the versatility that the other two have shown. Also, while I know he’s got a good fanbase here, I’ve never felt like he has a fanbase of voters overall that was as big as Joshua and Twitch.

But with the girls…damn. I really, really like Kherington. She has been one of my favorites since her audition, and most weeks that has grown. I knew that she had a pretty bad night last night, and frankly her solo last night wasn’t up to par. I knew she would be in the bottom 2. I was prepared for that. But I was not prepared for Comfort to stay and Kherington to go.

And speaking of the solos…the ones tonight were fantastic! All four of them!!! Frankly, Comfort and Kherington, and maybe even Gev needed to bring out that kind of a solo last night. I think all four of them stepped up their game in the solo department tonight and were dancing for their lives, when they really needed to be doing that last night.

Loved the Mia Michaels routine for the girls. The guys routine was good, but it did not come close to giving me chills like the girls did.

  • smartcookie

If they’re doing it like the last two years, they will all get new partners next week. So, for example, Twitch should get anybody but Comfort, Will should get anybody but Katee, Mark should get anybody but Chelsie, and Joshua should get anybody but Courtney or Katee.

I’m hoping for Mark and Courtney, Twitch and Katee, Joshua and Comfort, and Will and Chelsie.

At this point, it doesn’t matter that much, anyway, because they’re all on the tour, and it’s just some money as a prize for the one winner, which 9 of them will not be. Just for selfish reasons, I want the people I like (everybody left except Comfort) to be around so I can see them in more dances.

It hurts to lose Gev, but it would’ve hurt just as much (for me) if it had been Will, Mark or Twitch. I’m not that wedded to Joshua, although I do think he’s a wonderful dancer.

Among the girls, I really like Chelsie, Katee and Courtney, so (even though I think Comfort should totally have been the one leaving) I’m okay with the departure of Kherington. She and Twitch will get the great bed dance on tour, betcha anything.

  • idolbeat

    hiss boo :thumbdown_tb:

I am soo mad right now. Kherington’s leg extensions are beautiful – she just dances with so much grace IMO. Her solo and Gev’s solo had much more energy and showed their committment to dancing.

    bah humbug.

  • AInoob

Has anyone ever seen SYTYCD on tour? I’m curious how they go about picking the routines that are chosen for the tour. Do they go back to the dances of the original pairings or do they change it up to include some of the ones after they broke the pairs up? Because I’m thinking that if Nigel and the judges have any say, at least one of Will and Katee’s routines from last night will be featured on tour.

  • weelassie

Sad to see Kherington go. I think she is awesome. She started out so good but didn’t get better the last few weeks. Comfort started out terrible and is still terrible. I can’t believe she will stay longer than Kherington on a technicality. Chaps my backside. It’s so hard to pick from this point on except for Comfort. I really like Chelsie-she is a firecracker and a great dancer but I kind of like Courtney for her personality and Katee can really dance but isn’t that warm to me. So, top three girls are pretty tight. Guys-can’t imagine losing any of them but Will. He is an outstanding dancer but he makes me cold. Twitch is so warm and sweet, Mark is adorkable, and Joshua really wants this. They are all outstanding and fan bases will really come into play now. Joshua needs to lose the shirt next week. lol. Wearing shorts with the rear ripped out wouldn’t hurt him either. From here on out, except for Comfort, it’s gonna be a squeeker. (sp?, squeeker doesn’t look correct, lol.) (I’m a dork.)

  • dante

    This just plain sucks!

  • smartcookie

They do a mix of things from the original pairs and the new pairs, plus they added a few totally new things last year. Anya and Pasha did a mambo(I think)/cha cha mix that was never on the show, and the three b-dancers (Sara, Dom and Hok) did a new number, too. Plus Kameron stepped in to the Wizard of Oz number that Shauna had done with Jimmy, her (second? or original?) partner.

They’ll pick the ones everybody loved, like Kherington and Twitch in the bed and Twitch and Comfort hip hop, plus maybe the Chelsie and Mark businessman number and Katee and Joshua Bollywood or soldier (with the shirt), and then some others to even out the kinds of dances performed (so maybe Joshua and Courtney rhumba to get some Latin in) as well as who has how many things to dance. Last year, the horrid paso doble Neil and Sabra did was still on the tour because they were both top 4 and I guess they needed more for them to do. Or maybe they just really wanted a paso.

  • AInoob

I hope Courtney and Gev are paired up together for a number or two on tour. They were so well suited as a couple.

  • Virgii5

Not that surprised Kherington got the boot, I did say in the previous thread that it was time for her to go. She’s not really that good in anything… she’s sort of graceful looking but otherwise, she’s not all that. She reminds me of the girl who was the first to get kicked off the show last year.. that’s how much better last year’s dancers were than this year.

  • http://dreambabysdreams.blogspot.com/ Dream Baby Dream

Last year, the horrid paso doble Neil and Sabra did was still on the tour because they were both top 4 and I guess they needed more for them to do. Or maybe they just really wanted a paso.

I really liked their Paso! It wasn’t the best Paso ever done, but it was the best last season, by far. And it was one of the dances that made me think that Neil had a shot (though slim) of actually winning.

  • primeminister

Mark, get a good partner, solid routines, and some nice costumes mmkay?

…or you’re no longer HAWT. That’s right, I said it.

  • gingerly

I don’t freaking care about the pool and I’m putting my money on Will every week til he’s gone (or finds a personality). I wanted Comfort to leave but am unconcerned that Kherington did, although she lives in the town next to my hometown…neither of them does much for me.

Gev leaving was very sad. I cried even though he’s not my favorite….I still

  • champ

Wow, after watching I feel terrible for Kherington. Yes, I wanted her gone, but Comfort shouldn’t have been given that second chance. I think all the dancers were shocked.

  • gingerly

If you look at dial idol, Kherington was at the top. Maybe with so few votes (as compared to American Idol) it doesn’t mean much. As I’ve mentioned, I’ve just started paying attention to this show this year.

  • idolbeat

people really voted more for Comfort over Kherington? I’m shocked.

Poor Twitch – both his partners were bottom 2 and his face when Kherington was eliminated :(

  • kayleighjade08

    Next week…. ???

    Joshua/Comfort
    Twitch/Katee
    Mark/Courtney
    Will/ Chelsie

  • http://www.myspace.com/coffeygirlb bethanysuzanne

Kateeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ is there something wrong with me? Sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a very good dancer, but for some reason, she sort of bores me. Personality-less?

Totally agree with you! I have felt that from the very beginning, like something is…lacking. I am SO sad to see Gev go, dude is so freakin talented. And unlike Idol, there is not one type that I feel is more “right” for this competition. He just has it and there is more of a market for breakers, than ball-room dancers, at least in the entertainment industry. I’m gonna miss Gev and Courtney….she looked sad! :( *sniff sniff*

  • weelassie

Just watched the elimination clips. :( Sad to see both of them go. Gev is just so darn likeable. I haven’t watched this show before or any other dancing show and have no idea who Lil C is but the guy is a great judge. He is incredibly articulate and gives great constructive advice. How I wish Idol had judges like these-ones who actually give advice and counsel.

  • AZIdolFan

i’m so so so sad that Gev is gone. i really wanted twitch to be gone. he has great personality but his ballrooms are killing me.

i knew kherington would be gone. she had fallen from grace and it would be mean to eliminate comfort two weeks in a row.

did anyone notice mark and chelsie hugging when he walked down after he was safe?

  • lilbrusc102

During the recap video thing they showed Mark and Kherington before their second dance and Mark was commenting about how they had to do well because their first routine didn’t go so well and Kherington said something along the lines of “Yea, the judges hate me”….that might be what Lil’ C’s comments were about.

I agree, Lil’ C has been my favorite guest judge so far….I think I might have a bit of a judge crush on him, haha. I love the language and analogies he chooses to express himself….you can tell he really cares about the art of dance and that he really wants to help the kids improve.

  • Dlynne

Wow! I was not expecting that at all. I love Gev. Kherington isn’t my favorite but I like her more than Comfort. So sad.

I love, love, love Lil’ C. That was totally unexpected, too. He makes a great judge. He would make an incredible teacher. I’m very impressed with him.

Mia Michaels didn’t get an Emmy nom. That surprised me, too.

Can I just say that these kids must be completely exhausted. They had five dances to learn this week plus work on their solos. That is insane. Maybe Jessica was smiling because she’s finally getting some rest. LOL

  • movin2thabeet

It’s sad to see Gev go, but I bet he still had more votes than Comfort did. I was hoping against hope that the SYTYCD producers would step out of their self-created boxes and drop the tired equal boy-girl elimination like Canadian Idol did. Sure, the partnerships would have to wildly transform, but that’s life – and dance. We know how strong the male-male dynamic is among these guys. It could work and be powerful. Oh well. At least I think they know how popular all these guys are.

The highlights of the evening for me were:
    > Mia’s routine for the girls – so beautiful! took my breath away. thank you!
    > Lil’ C’s comments – the man is so deeply articulate. love him.
    > Gev’s solo – crazy great!

  • vixen

    geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeev. :(

  • Grammie Kari

During the recap video thing they showed Mark and Kherington before their second dance and Mark was commenting about how they had to do well because their first routine didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t go so well and Kherington said something along the lines of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Yea, the judges hate meà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.that might be what Lilà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ Cà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s comments were about.

Yes, that is exactly what I thought. Yet, in watching Comfortà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s goodbye video last week, and Kerringtonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s goodbye video this week – I would much rather have seen more of Kerrington. I am not feeling a connection with Comfort.

Gevà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s solo was awesome. I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t want any of the guys to leave this week. He seems so sweet and a favorite of Catà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s. I hope he will be paired with Courtney for the tour!

Lil’C is the type of judge that should be on each and everyone of these talent reality shows. Someone please let Randy Jackson (and others) know this.

  • gusher

Oh come on! Kherington got booted before Comfort?!? This is insanity! And Gev’s solos are amazing, but it wasn’t much of a surprize that he’s gone… Guess we’ll at least see them on tour.

  • jodeb

Much thanks to everyone who answered my *musical chairs* question for the following weeks.

Another favor: I do have the site for Dial Idol for AI, but does anyone have the site for DialIdol for SYTYCD. It was interesting to read the listings that say Mark was #1 and I do love their predictions, along with everyone else’s

    Thanks. :)

  • BlankSlate

I am so sucked in. I hate it.
So I Cried for Gev. Damn but I like him
and I think he wanted to say something to Courtney while hugging Cat as we watched his Farewell package

But I will admit that there is nothing like watching Will dance.
His body and face.. combined with those legs and moves… Fuggedaboutit.
    He is magnificent.

  • dancingqueen

My top 6 were safe, so, I really didn’t care which of the bottom 2 girls & guys left – none of them were liable to win anyway, and will go soon enough. I really liked Kher in auditions, but, her attitude and dancing both became heavy in recent weeks. I agree that Lil’ C was referring to her “judges hate me” comment in his critique.

As soon as Cat said “mystery choreographer”, Nigel was my pick – routine was so-so. Mia’s was beautiful, partially due to the costuming/make-up/stage lighting.

  • http://stores.ebay.com/BookWomanBlues-Book-Nook Bobbi

Not happy with last night’s results at all. Comfort has no business still being on that stage and Gev is just a love. But, except for Comfort and Will, I’m not going to be too pleased with any of these eliminations which is kind of stupid considering the nature of the show!

jodeb – If you look on the right side of the DialIdol screen, right above the orange bubble that has geo predictions in it, you will see a drop down menu labelled “show”. The last show on the menu is SYTYCD.

Lil’C was a fantastic and enjoyable judge. I also thought he was referring to Kherrington’s comment about the judges hating her.

This will no doubt be a very unpopular opinion, but I was really turned off by Mia Michaels using a prayer as a basis for a dance on this show. Just really didn’t think it was an appropriate setting.

  • lili

Lil C is a word nerd!

  • MrsTrep

I have to say as a casual viewer (I know just enough about dance to look like an ass if I try to make a constructive comment) that I was floored at Kherington’s performance Wednesday night. I was like, ok, either Twitch was completely carrying her or Mark is a horrible partner. I don’t think Mark is a horrible partner but maybe they just don’t work well together at all? no connection? I don’t know, I thought Kher was great with Twitch, not the stronger of the two, but on Wednesday I was surprised at how not good she was. They did get crappy dances though. I was far from surprised to see her go.

I was super sad to see Gev go. I thought it would have been Mark. MrTrep NEVER watches and makes fun of Cat when he walks by and I am watching but I forced it on him last night and he was floored by Gev’s solo. I got the ‘holy shit, is that even possible?’, which of course it is because Gev was doing it. I think he showed to be a seriously versatile dancer, his style was very unlike anything he was asked to do on the show. I guess with some skill and a lot of heart you can do anything! I’ll miss Gev and his cute little hats and those crazy ‘hand stands’ that he does.

  • http://www.dancin.ca dancin

so much for my points.. missed one week cuz i was away and didnt pre vote lol and now this waaaaaaa hehe
:( i will be sad to see gev gone..
kherington.. should have had another week… but she was so heavy n tired in her dancing the past couple of weeks

as for who will be together next week.. they pick names out of a hat i believe…should be ineresting

  • motherofautumn

    Jodeb,
I looked at DialIdol for the first time yesterday (one of the posters here told me what to look for) — in the upper right, the site has a window labeled show; that’s a drop down menu and you can choose the data and the show you’d like to see.

  • wfowfowfo

The more I watch, the more I think *extreme manipulation* About picking the names out of a hat? When Mark’s hand goes in that hat, I’m willing to bet there’ll be 5 cards, all with the name “Comfort” written in big bold letters.

Twitch will get Katee, Will and Courtney, Josh and Chelsie –

Will will have some wonderfully fluid type dance (shirtless, of course) to beautiful haunting music.

Mark will get the Virginia Reel to some Scottish Bagpipe band.

    Me? Bitter? Never.

  • KrazeeK120

Mark, get a good partner, solid routines, and some nice costumes mmkay?

    à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦or youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re no longer HAWT. Thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s right, I said it.

Them’s fightin’ words, PM! I thought Mark was back to being HAWT last night. Hopefully he won’t draw the short straw again next week, although I have a feeling he will be the next to have the pleasure of partnering Comfort. He better at least get better dances than two-step.

Will will get Chelsie because she’s 2nd on the ladder of female TCO’s and he was just paired with Katee this week.

Courtney and Twitch will be paired since she just danced with Joshua this week.

That leaves Katee and Joshua. Ivan and Allison were paired together top 8 week in S2 after being a couple for the first 5 weeks, so I don’t see why it can’t happen again.

Comfort HAS to go…I don’t really see any way around that. As far as the guys, I’m not so quick to jump on the “Mark is going” train yet. I feel at some point, Joshua and Twitch are going to cancel each other out, and Twitch will be gone. It’s just a matter of when that is. I think Joshua and Will will be the last 2 guys standing.

  • Joanna

I know it’s apples and oranges, but I am livid…LIVID I say…that Gev is gone and Comfort is still there. Actually, I’m livid that Gev is gone either way. I think I’m not going to be into this show as much from here on out. Ok, a moment of silence for Gev…

    Thank you.

  • spritely

Something I hadn’t noticed with Kher until the last two weeks–her posture went to hell. Her shoulders slumped and pointed forward while she was dancing, which jutted her head forward and ruined her upper body lines. Actually, it must have affected everything she attempted to do. I was surprised no judge mentioned it.

  • Allison

Gev is out, so I’m not going to watch this year any more. I’m not interested in any of the other dancers.

  • Allison

Lilà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢C is the type of judge that should be on each and everyone of these talent reality shows. Someone please let Randy Jackson (and others) know this.

Word to that! Make an instructional tape out of Li’l C’s critiquing and send it to Randy!

  • Joanna

Something I’m getting tired of: At the end of a solo, when they play ‘So you think you can dance…dance…dance,’ I’m tired of the guys (and I guess Comfort) doing a chest pop/heart beating thing to the beat of ‘dance…dance….dance.’ Twitch, Josh, and Comfort do it every time, and Mark did it last night too. Nitpicky? Yes, but Gev is gone and I’m mad.

  • AInoob

I’m really wondering what the next couple matchups will be. My predictions:

    Mark/Courtney
    Joshua/Comfort
    Will/Chelsie
    Twitch/Katee

I’d actually really like to see what Mark and Courtney could do together. My other choice for her would be Twitch. I like Courtney and for that reason I don’t want to see her with Will. I worry that the judges would poo-poo all over her ala Jessica if that matchup happens.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

“Mark will get the Virginia Reel to some Scottish Bagpipe band.

    Me? Bitter? Never.”

Funny stuff – Just watch though –

    “Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m tired of the guys (and I guess Comfort) doing a chest pop/heart beating thing to the beat of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹danceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦danceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.dance.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ Twitch, Josh, and Comfort do it every time”

Me too and no surprise – especially Comfort. I KNOW b dancers are tougher all that and once off this show she will do well in her genre but for this show she is just sooo wrong in every way. Someone was talking about Sarah from last year so I went back and checked her out again and that girl, even when she was hard hitting she was still a girl but boy could she switch it over to something beautiful and ladylike when she had to. Comfort just doesnt cut it for me when she tries to be a lady but just watch she will pull something out and prove me wrong, I doubt it but it is all kinds of crazy that she is there and not Gev. I wish they could have an odd # of guys and girls – I know that is impossible but?

  • http://dreambabysdreams.blogspot.com/ Dream Baby Dream

Okay, I know this is totally random, but I haven’t seen it discussed anywhere. Y’all know those little clips where the top howevermany dancers are left that week choose a Snuggle happy dance winner? I’ve been paying attention each of the weeks that they’ve done it…and the dancer who announces the winner of that has been one of the two dancers eliminated each week. When I saw that it was Kherington this week, I was sure that was going to be broken, because I just knew that Comfort was leaving. But I was wrong, and that streak is still holding true.

It started with Chelsea…moved to Matt…and now Kherington…

Granted, I think that whole thing is finished now, so it won’t be an indicator next week…but it is kinda weird.

  • spritely

For me, those Snuggle happy dance segments were as dumb as the fan question segments on Idol.

Interesting about the clips, DBD. So do you think they were filmed the days of elimination, when the producers knew who was going to be cut?

  • http://dreambabysdreams.blogspot.com/ Dream Baby Dream

Interesting about the clips, DBD. So do you think they were filmed the days of elimination, when the producers knew who was going to be cut?

That’s a possibility…but then again, it could be completely random. I mean, if they were filmed sometime over the weekend or early in the week, then it was just coincidence. I’d be interested to know when it is filmed though, to see if there is any justification to my observation or if it was simply something that just kinda happened.

  • http://dreambabysdreams.blogspot.com/ Dream Baby Dream

Another possibility…they could film several of them making the announcement, and then choose which one to air once they know who is leaving…

  • spritely

That *is* another possibility, DBD, and probably more likely. Good thinkin’. :)

To make absolutely sure I’m still on topic :arrow_wp:. . .I found last night’s results show quite touching. First time that’s happened for me.

  • kerfuffle

I so suck at picking the results on this show. Comfort still there! Are you kidding me? And I really, really, really didn’t think Gev would be going home. And Mark the other guy in the bottom two? This stinks! I know lots of people had Mark or Gev to go, but it totally blind-sided me. Which made it all the sadder.

At least Jeff Dye turned out to be as funny as he is cute on Last Comic Standing last night. That was a pleasant surprise. Ooops! Not on topic. Sorry, mj. :mrgreen_wp:

  • lala

Lili–I said the same thing last night, Lil C is a Word Nerd! Just wish that boy would cut his fingernails…ewwwww.

Was outraged that Comfort didn’t make the top 10, but now she’s in the top 8. Huh??? I knew Kherington would go next week, but now, not only do we have to suffer through Comfort again next week, but she will most likely be paired up with Mark, which compounds my disapointment with her staying two-fold.

wfowfowfo–I couldn’t agree with you more–Mark with 5 “Comfort” cards to choose from. Then they will have to dance a clog and an Aboriginal tribal dance, and they will dress him in a puffy shirt, ala Seinfeld. :sigh:

Mark is my fave, and Gev was my second fave, so it looks like I need to be pickin’ a new fave right shortly here. Joshua has always been my 3rd fave, and I really think he brought it this week–I was really liking him more with Courtney than I had with Katee, but that might just have been because I knew I needed to start liking someone besides Mark & Gev, so I would continue to be interested in the show.

  • http://www.xanga.com/hisaki_chan707 Hisaki

…I completely forgot about the show last night while out and eating dinner. And now to come back to find Gev being eliminated…*sigh* Oh well — but, the truth being if he hadn’t gone this week, he probably would have gone next week anyway.

I’m a little surprised Comfort ended up having a bigger fanbase than Kherington (whom, by the way, I did not recognize in that first cap), but even if Kherington’s a better all-around dancer than Comfort, it’s not by much and Courtney’s already risen above her. Hopefully Comfort just goes — for good — next week; I can’t imagine her being in the Bottom 3/4 six freaking times in a row and still making it through, and only to be in the bottom again the following week.

  • GeminiDolly

I cant wait for Comfort to leave…again. I cant stand her or her arrogant personality. Can someone tell me what this “4real” thing is? Is it a black thing because I just dont get it, like 4 real!!

  • neonorange

I think SYTYCD should highlight these guys on one of their recap shows.

    Philippine Prison Dancing: “Low”

BTW, Comfort needs to go. So does she get to go on tour now that she’s top 8?

  • http://dreambabysdreams.blogspot.com/ Dream Baby Dream

Can someone tell me what this à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“4realà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ thing is? Is it a black thing because I just dont get it, like 4 real!!

*purely speculation* I think it is something that the dancers of this season have coined…being Season 4. I am guessing that they have made up these t-shirts (IV Real) and their little hand signs as a show of solidarity.

  • Michelle

What?! I miss one results show to go see Dark Knight (amazing btw) and THIS happens?

I was not aware Comfort had a fanbase, lol.

Kherington I guess I’m not so surprised besides the fact that I was certain Comfort was gone. But Gev?! Whyyy?

  • AInoob

I found this on the Popwatch blog regarding the IV Real thing.

  • geekygirl

:( None of the guys deserve to go IMO but that is the nature of the show. It is going to be sad to see them voted off from now on. I love them all. Gev was wonderful but they all are. I knew when it got to this stage it was going to be hard to choose. If I could vote I honestly couldn’t choose one to vote for over the other because I think they are all incredible dancers.

Maybe the voting audience felt it was a bit cruel to bring Comfort back then chuck her out again so she got some sympathy votes. She should be gone next week, the other girls are too strong for her. Then who to choose from them as well!

And a note on the group Bollywood number, there is a huge asian population here in London and Bollywood is very popular. That routine actually looked more authentic than the one Josh and Katee did, even tho I thought their routine was beautiful and exciting.

  • http://dreambabysdreams.blogspot.com/ Dream Baby Dream

AInoob, thanks for the link about the IV Real shirts!

My “dance” buds and I have been discussing that very thing, spritely. It was obvious she was slowly losing her belief she could pull off anything but contemporary. You could see it in her diminishing leaping ability, as well. I also believe Twitch was more than just her dance partner. I felt he mentored her in how to accept the negative comments, learn from them, and then release them before self doubt set in. His experience and postive nature carried her. Everyone should have a “Twitch” in their life.

  • spritely

    Everyone should have a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Twitchà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ in their life.

Aww. So true. Maybe he pulled that better performance out of Comfort, too. He may be an under-rated partner, because what he gives them may be invisible.

  • Hey Moonlite

Sad about Gev, I am glad I didnt get so invested in him like I did with Neil last year and Jason Castro this year and loose a whole bunch of my life. Thanks MJ I go on your site daily to catch up on all my lifes crack, so I dont have to spend so much time of my like on all the other websites.

At least I am not so invested in the rest of the dancers, so I can kick back and enjoy the rest of the show.

  • Layla

Mia is a goddess. She is an amazingly gifted, organic choreographer.

  • Layla

Kherrington is not an especially good dancer…at least Comfort lack of techinque is because she has never been “taught”…what’s Kher’s excuse. She dances with absolutely no soul.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

“Mia is a goddess. She is an amazingly gifted, organic choreographer.”

Yes, she is all that with just a couple of screws loose which is probably what helps her create such out of this world, wonderful pieces. She just doesnt seem to be the nicest human being though.

  • SpenserJ

    Everyone should have a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Twitchà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ in their life.

    I’d like one please :)

So, I’m finally caught up and I’ve watched both shows. I’m a little sad for Kherington, but it sure did seem that she lost her spark. And, whatever her problem was, it was affecting her technique. I’m no Comfort fan – her feet and her arms are still crappy – but she sure did take her second chance seriously. She came out swinging and she never gave up. I have some admiration for that.

I’m always hot and cold on Mia’s choreography. Some pieces I find really lovely, others scream pretention to me, just like MJ mentioned. But, I’m clear on how I feel about her personally. She has one facial expression – smug. No one loves Mia and her genius more than Mia does.

I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for Twitch’s early departure, because I know it’s coming. I’m a little too invested – I kind of adore him. The sad look on his face when his former partner was eliminated nearly broke my heart. The men in the field are so strong this season, it’s hard for me to know who’s going next.

Nigel’s choreography was kind of lame. I also have an ever-growing fear that Comfort is going to Syesha her way into the final 4.

  • SpenserJ

Kherrington is not an especially good dancerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦at least Comfort lack of techinque is because she has never been à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“taughtà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦whatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Kherà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s excuse. She dances with absolutely no soul.

It’s all perception, I know, but I have to disagree with this. Kherington started the top 20 with lovely extensions, good lines, excellent posture and a lot of height in her leaps. That’s why her performance this week was so surprising to me. She had lost her posture, her movements were clipped, and most shockingly to me, she had lost her speed. I’ve been to a bunch of country bars, and I have to say that she and Mark did the slowest, sloppiest two step I’ve ever seen. That was just bad all around.

So, while I believe Kherington probably signed her own walking papers this week, I still also believe that she’s a great dancer with really strong technique. She just needs to get her confidence back.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

“at least Comfort lack of techinque is because she has never been à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“taughtà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦”

I dont think that is a good enough excuse, Courtney, for example wasnt taught a whole lot about Comforts style but was able to pull it off. They ALL werent taught a whole lot about the style that is not their primary one and the ones that are left are doing pretty darn good in styles not known to be their own. Comfort went to a performing arts high and performed for a few years on a dance show,so that isnt a good enough excuse at this stage or on this show, I dont think.

  • Layla

Yes, she is all that with just a couple of screws loose which is probably what helps her create such out of this world, wonderful pieces. She just doesnt seem to be the nicest human being though.

Do you really think she’s not nice? What is this based on? A truly serious question as I find that she is so honest with her critiques and the contestants seem to really pay attention when she is speaking and have the utmost respect. I love her speaking voice, and the thought she puts into her critiques.

I often think tat Nigel is the one who is often unkind with his critiques in a way which is too “personal”.

If all I get on tour of Twitchington is the bed scene, well, it will be worth it.

  • SpenserJ

If all I get on tour of Twitchington is the bed scene, well, it will be worth it.

As long as they throw in one of Twitch’s fabulous hip hop, I’m right there with ya!

A truly serious question as I find that she is so honest with her critiques and the contestants seem to really pay attention when she is speaking and have the utmost respect.

This question wasn’t directed at me, but..
Mia can be polarizing. What some see as “honest”, others see as obnoxious. Whereas one can find her choreography “organic”, some others feel that it’s a bit affected and manipulative. And, that just because she says the word organic every third word doesn’t necessarily indicate that she knows what it means.

Mia has achieved a certain level of success. For that reason, along with not looking like an asshole on national tv, I think the contestants will always look at her with respect. I am not convinced however that some of them don’t walk out of there thinking – dang, what a bitch.

For me personally, I sometimes see her critiques as blatant agenda-pushing. I am also amongst those who believe she tends to favor the male dancers above the female ones.

No doubt Mia knows her stuff. But, I think her knowledge is somewhat limited when outside the contemporary realm. Just like some dancers are more versatile – I think some judges are more versatile. As in, I think some of the other judges are better at critiquing styles outside of their specialty than Mia is.

And, there have been times when I’ve thought her comments were a little too biting and personal. The way she will not cut Jessica even the tiniest bit of slack is just over the top to me.

Granted, I do not know Mia personally, so she could be a perfectly nice person. The only thing I can comment on is how she comes across on tv to me. And that is, not so good.

My heart is broken over the loss of Gev. I didn’t know I cared so much until now.

  • JudyOhio

I’m hatin’ on Courtney now and want her to go, lol. I don’t like how it looked like Gev couldn’t continue in the competition without her by being cut the first week with a new partner. Further, Courtney’s being so awed by Joshua bugged me. The “he’s such a MAN” and “look at his ARMS.” Over the top, not necessary. It felt to me like a comparison to Gev’s “littleness” let’s say. Did not like that at all!

I still like Joshua as always, but Courtney…no. My fav girl now would be Katee and Chelsie. Fav guy is Joshua and if he can’t make it, I have no more favorites of the guys. Actually, they are all quite good.

  • weelassie

Kherrington is not an especially good dancerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦at least Comfort lack of techinque is because she has never been à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“taughtà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦whatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Kherà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s excuse. She dances with absolutely no soul.

I feel that Kherrington is an exceptional dancer who lost her confidence. In the early weeks with Twitch, her extensions and bubbliness were incredible. She reminded me of a little pixie leaping around. When I first saw her I was truly in awe. Tinkerbellington. It seems she has lost her confidence and her leaps got heavy. I imagine all the work they do takes a toll on ones body and spirit. She is only out of high school and has poise and grace in spades. Kudos to her for accomplishing so much for one so young. She will only get better. I would have liked to see her dance with Mark or Joshua. I really enjoyed Twitchington. Kherrington knew nothing about hip hop or two step just as Comfort doesn’t know some of the other dances. It just comes down to how you manuever thru the minefields you don’t know anything about and excel in the nuggets in which you excel. When Kher danced the one dance with Twitch that Mia didn’t like the smiling-I saw an incredible joy in the dance and light in her soul. Interesting how we all see different things.

  • weelassie

    SpenserJ
I totally agree with you about Mia. Don’t know her, but from the first time I saw her (just this year) I had the feeling that she has her favorites and then uses her critiques to prop up her favs and dig at that ones who aren’t her pets. My personal feeling is that the choreographers should not be judges. Some of the choreographers have given some dancers some real crap and again they can use their “power” to give great routines to the dancers they like the best and “lesser” routines to those they don’t like as well. I don’t imagine most of them would do this but Mia gives off the aura of someone who has favorites and wouldn’t be above throwing someone a meaty bone and someone else a greasy wrench. Have no facts to back it up but I do get an weird feeling from her and she has the look of someone who has sucked on too many lemons.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

“truly serious question as I find that she is so honest with her critiques and the contestants seem to really pay attention when she is speaking and have”

I completely believe in being honest but she goes beyond honest sometimes as she did with Jessica for example – I cant remember what she said exactly now but it went beyond constructive and was just downright mean, a whole lot of people commented that day also on how mean she was also, it wasnt just honest, it honestly was cruel.
The sucked lemons comment from wee – maybe it is just her looks that make her appear that way but her comments that week seemed more than that.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

Another thing (that might be just the way she appears) with Mia that turns me off is the little kinda evil leer she gets that is really sexual in nature. Mary is funny when she says – oh you can just keep that shirt off or whatever, you know she is kidding but Mia’s little sexual comments creep me out sometimes. Leave the young boys alone. Oh, one last thing – everytime she “feels” a dance she makes sure to point out to everyone that she has tears in her eyes and it seems a bit put on to me??

I know who am I? No one important and I dont know her from a hole in the wall – just the vibe I get from her from time to time – not always just sometimes but we all have our good and bad days. I sure have caught myself being not so nice on here when it came to Comfort staying on thursday. I think I was just so disapointed in Gev leaving after that amazing solo I think I took it out on her.

  • Layla

Interesting the negative opinions re Mia. I know from when I “danced” a bit from back in the day (which is what brought me to Europe in the first place) that I would have killed to dance one of Mia’s dances. I think she is incredibly gifted.

I get nothing from Mia but love of dance and I respect that she gives opinions (IMO) straight from what she is both feeling and thinking…she doesn’t (or rarely) edit herself and I like that.

I like Mary too although her sreaming gets on my nerves sometimes.

Nigel just fuckin’ bugs the shit out of me half the time.

I don’t think Mia is the only one to play faves…ALL of the judges at one time or another have actually said a certain couple or dancer was the one to beat.

  • barefootgirl

so sad to see Gev go. His solos were AWEsome. I thought he’d last another week.

First season watching and I’m hooked.

Mary’s shrieking got on my nerves right away. I keep the remote nearby ready to mute when I feel it coming.

I especially look forward to the choreography. The creative routines they come up with every week blow me away.

  • Grammie Kari

In reviewing the performance show, I thought I heard Nigel tell Katee that he believed she was the best girl dancer they have ever had on the show. Please tell me he really didn’t say that.

Perhaps he forgot about Seasons 1 and 2?

  • SpenserJ

I like Mary too although her sreaming gets on my nerves sometimes.

Nigel just fuckinà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ bugs the shit out of me half the time.

I like Mary also. The shrieks are very annoying no doubt. But, I think she’s supportive of the dancers, and often I find her judging very informative.

Nigel can be a complete dick sometimes. But, I don’t think he’s completely useless as a judge. I do however find him to be an agenda-pusher as well.

I agree that all of the judges at one time or another declare their favorites. Most of the guest judges and Mary do it in a way that you can tell they’re being so complimentary to someone because they mean it. Mia & Nigel do it with over the top hyperbole. Most of the guest judges and Mary too, seem to be able to critique the canon fodder in a way that gets the point across – hey you’re out of your league. But, it isn’t downright cruel, like “Will, aren’t you tired of carrying the incompetant Jessica around?”

Please tell me he really didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t say that.

Indeed he did. Nigel made it very clear this week, that we the people are supposed to vote for either Katee or Will. Even though she’s a wee bit more subtle, if I had to guess, I’d say Mary is pulling for Joshua or Chelsie. She’s a big fan of Will & Katee as well, but I don’t think they’re the favorites in her heart.

I don’t think it’s an accident that they’ve all come around to be huge supporters of the Debbie Allen protege. I can’t say I blame them, Will is an exceptional dancer. But, in the beginning, he really wasn’t connecting with the viewers. I don’t know if he’s done enough to overcome that. So, if he becomes a shocking boot – I think Nigel will scream.

On the other hand, I have no clue why Nigel made the boys do some pop & locking straight out of the ReRun from What’s Happening Choreography book.

  • kerfuffle

    weelassie,

Kherington did dance with Mark. Or did you mean someone else when you said:

“I would have liked to see her dance with Mark or Joshua.”?

And I absolutely loved your “Tinkerbellington”. I agree with you about her, and think she’s such a joy to watch, moreso earlier on than at the end, of course.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

I know that no matter what I think of Mia, I almost ALWAYS love her pieces Layla – that is for sure. Dancing is a wonderful but very demanding life, that is for sure and can make you a little “crazy”. My cousin married a dancer she met on the road named Pavel Romanyuk, he danced with the Russian Ballet, in the Boshoi – with Nureyev, everywhere but stayed here after meeting Erica and helped our familys small dance troupe become better than it ever was. He was also perceived to be somewhat strange but oh the magic he helped create with that crazy vision of his. He passed away last year at only 44, we all miss his “madness”. What I said last night brought this to mind and when you really got to know Pavel he really was nice, but we all had to defend him like crazy too, so who really knows what she is all about. Maybe she just appears that way to me Layla. Where did you dance?

  • weelassie

    Kerfuffle,
yikes, I meant Matt and not Mark. I would have liked to see Kherington with her beautiful extension dance with Matt. Matt was one of my favs. Just got the names messed up. I’m a dork sometimes :)
