I loved Sonya’s group routine. No surprise that Russell is safe, I am guessing Jackob will be joining him.

I think the B2 will be:
Ryan/Legacy
Ellenore/Mollee

I split my votes between Russell (got about two in in all the time I gave him), Ellenore (about 75 votes) and Kathryn (also about 75). So that means one of mine is through. Now my fingers are crossed for the other two.

I have to say, I kind of expected Legacy to be in the bottom after last night. His solo was kinda weak and the hip hop was pretty crappy. But if he’s in danger, that probably means Ellenore is, too. BOO HOO!!

smartcookie, I split votes too. I could barely get any in for Russell at all. And I almost never get busy signals for SYTYCD here. I think the only time I’ve ever gotten so many continuous busies were the finales for the past two seasons. Jakob’s even a “hometown boy” and I got through for him every time.

I think I got about 2 or 3 votes for Russell in, total. I got at least 250 each for Ellenore and Jakob, before I finally fell asleep with the phone in my hand. LOL.

I hope Ellenore is safe. I’m worried she’s going to get lost in the shuffle between Kathryn’s incredible night (and I want Kathryn in the finale too, so no worries), the injury drama with Ashleigh, and Mollee’s phantom fanbase (is she the Syesha of this season or what?! lol). I hope not, but I just have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that she’ll at least be b2 for the girls.

I’m soo worried for Ellenore! If she gets voted off in favor of a dancer who didn’t even compete, I will be livid. I like Ashleigh, but I’m sorry – she didn’t have to get up there and prove herself last night, and doesn’t deserve to move ahead over the one that will leave.

I don’t think it was emotional manipulation at all. I would have done the same thing for my husband if it were me standing up there and he was injured. I think that although people are upset that ashleigh made it through to the finale without dancing last night I think she deserves it. if we go strictly based on performances from the WHOLE season, ashleigh was by far stronger than mollee but if you’re just looking at last night.. mollee probably should have ashleigh’s spot. personally, i would rather have ashleigh in the finale than mollee. also if mollee stays and ellenore goes I’ll be so upset. i can’t stand mollee especially during her video packages. does anyone else feel the same way?? personally I would love to see Ashleigh and Ryan both make it to the finale so they can dance together.

Not to be negative towards anyone I am just going to say I hope Ryan and Ellenore Stay.

This is a competition – since when does any competitor get to win, or progress in a competition when they can’t compete due to injury? I don’t care how good Ashleigh was throughout the season, and I feel badly for her that she was injured, but there is no way that it is fair for her to advance when she couldn’t even take part in the competition, especially at this stage.

And we lose Mollee… well, I’m glad with that. I kinda wasn’t sure it would happen, but it did. So… I guess that works. Now… the tough elimination… ok, Legacy. Well, I don’t like that, but I’ll survive. I actually don’t mind this as much as I thought I would.

As to Kris… he’s done better. His voice didn’t sound to be quite at its best, but I thought the energy was quite good. Wish he could have performed something other than LLWD.

Kris’s performance was just fine. He looked happy and energetic and everything he needed to be.

And WOOOO that Mollee is out. Poor Nathan would’ve done so much better without that albatross.

Why would Kris be terrified? He performed all around the country on tour, on multiple talk shows, GMA, etc. and on the Idol finale. Performing on SYTYCD is small potatoes next to any of that.

It is not weird. This has already been put to bed days ago. Kris will be in NYC the day of the finale so he could not be on the show on the 16th. He has an appearance/taping for The Late Show with David Letterman.

I am torn. So glad Ellenore is in–she rocks. Ryan reminds me of a wind-up doll–can’t really connect w/him. Will miss Legacy–he has grown tons, and I give him full points for sincerity and for going flat-out.

I enjoyed Mollee last night, for the first time. Too little, too late.

I had sympathy for Mollee tonight. She’s just so young. She’s athletic and strong, and she’s got good technique. In 3 or 4 years, she’s going to be a fabulous dancer. This was just way too soon for her.

Fuck You SuBo – Legacy is my reality tv, heartwarming human interest story this year. Gosh I just adore him. This all meant so much to him. He was just so real all the time – wearing it all right there on his sleeve. I’m glad he made it as far as he did, and I loved seeing that little montage of all his tricks.

I loved all of the slo mo stuff in each of their performance reviews. Whoever did that really did a great job of capturing the “specialness” of each of them. After watching Ryan’s clips, I’m more convinced than ever that he really may be one of the best partners they’ve ever had on this show.

Oh, and Kris! He looked great. He sounded great. He sings that song really well live. And I mean really, really well. (My only complaint is that I think his band is kind of lifeless and dull. They’re completely visually uninteresting to me as I watch them. But, that has nothing to do with him.)

Okay, on to Glee now :)

I think Russell is peaking, he will have all the HH/streetdancer vote next week, I think he has been getting the tween votes from the start, according to DI he was far and away the one who got the most votes this weel and he’s just really likeable.

Well, by having a final six rather than a final four, they’ve finally accomplished a pretty doggone diverse group for their finale, all of whom are actually pretty good at dancing in styles not their own. … I can definitely get behind that. If I were Ashleigh I would feel pretty strange getting voted through when I didn’t dance. But I like Ashleigh so from this side of the tv I’m not complaining. …

I agree with you on all your points with Kris’s performance. His voice was not his best (actually not really good) but he kept the energy up. I personally think that as a live song LLWD is not a good one for Kris. I wish he could have done one of the one he wrote on the Album. I mean there are 9 of them to choose from anyway. It won’t get people running from him but I don’t think the performance will garner that many new buyers as I would have hoped it would.

Although I’m happier personally with Ashleigh in the finale than Mollee, I completely agree with this. Honestly, if I were Ashleigh, I think I would have messed up their live show by announcing that I wouldn’t be back next week because what happened wasn’t fair. Hard to see how you can be one of the winners in a game you never played in. And, as you say, Mollee and the others did dance their hearts out. And yet Ashleigh, without having to demonstrate anything beyond what they’ve *all* demonstrated in previous weeks, beat out *two* of them to the finale. Very odd, to me. I really don’t understand reality-game-show voters.

Of course it can. Their schedule is grueling. I just wondered from some KA fans (objectively) if they thought it was good. I am not a fan but watched him (not looking for him to do bad or good) and I did not think it was good but -like I said-I am not a fan. Yeah, I was hoping that he would totally hit it out of the park. Instead, he did a “Great job, considering….” And I’m sure there’s a long list of “considerings,” from extreme tiredness to heaven knows how many viruses are lurking just below the surface in his system from the stress and germ exposure and the season, etc.

I think his ability to sing strong on the show even when he wasn’t in his best voice is a great indication that he’s going to be a fine, solid touring guy, where he’ll have to bring it every night in a million different less-than-optimal conditions. But I don’t know that it’s going to send a lot of people over to Itunes to buy the song tonight, and that’s really what I was hoping for….

Kris’ LLWD is now at #30 and album is at #131. Note that he hasn’t appeared at SYTYCD on the west coast yet. Before the east coast show LLWD was at #31 and album at #161. So far good movement for his album though it might be due to the lower ranking as compared to much higher ranking for LLWD.

Previous finales, everybody has danced with everybody. Since it’s six dancers this time, I don’t know if they can pull that off, but it’ll be kind of disappointing if they don’t. If they do it that way, it would mean one dance each for Ashleigh/Jakob, Ellenore/Jakob, Kathryn/Jakob, Ashleigh/Russell, Ellenore/Russell, Kathryn/Russell, Ashleigh/Ryan, Ellenore/Ryan and Kathryn/Ryan, and then a dance for the three guys and a dance for the three girls. Which is 11 dances total and do-able in two hours.

On the issue of Kris, my husband (who watches neither AI nor SYTYCD) came in when Kris was on, and he said, “Who’s that? That sounds pretty good.” He thought it sounded way better than the music on that show usually sounds, but I think he was thinking of DWTS, home of trainwreck music, because I don’t think he’s ever been in the room to hear anything off SYTYCD. But, anyway, it passed for him and he’s pretty snarky about this kind of thing. So my conclusion is that Kris did fine.

When I asked about this the other day, a couple of people assured me that it was only one hour, and that Chef Hell would be Fox’s 9 O’clock offering on Tuesday …. meaning that you’d probably only get in having everybody dance with everybody of the opposite gender.

Even though I like the chance to see past dances on the finale, I kind of hate it when a contest finale results show is longer than the performance show. It’s the performances I want to see.

My opinion is that Ryan manned up last night and tried to protect his wife and it worked for me at least. I hardly ever vote for these shows, but his plea for everyone to vote for her touched me. I voted for Ashley and Ryan exclusively last night. It obviously touched a lot of people. I don’t think it was planned. I watched the tivo and Cat seemed pissed and surprised. Play it back, you’ll see. Ryans solo is the same every time, but his partnering is superb.

As far as the others – We’ll see if Ashley’s injury isn’t an issue. Russell is a fave, as is Katherine. Ellenore, not so much. Jacob is a great dancer, but don’t want him to win just because of the judges bias.

Mollee will be a great dancer in a couple of years.
Legacy, did not leave a legacy. Sorry, with a name like that….. Very exciting dancer, tho.

By the way, Ashley didn’t get a free pass. It’s popularity contest and got more votes.

Was the band even playing during Kris’ performance? I thought there was something odd I couldn’t quite place my finger on and someone suggested on another board that Kris was probably singing to a backing track and the band was miming. Don’t know if that’s true but it wouldn’t be unheard of to use a backing track for a live show. Does anyone know?

I thought Kris sounded just fine y’all. Slightly tired but I’ve seen him perform LLWD a zillion times and I’m not sure a casual viewer would pick that up. I still think he’ll get a sales bump. When you think about it, most of the guests on AI sound horrible live and they still get a bump.

Yeah, these shows tend not to flatter acoustically, be honest. By comparison to some of the people who’ve been on Idol results shows, Kris had a vocal masterpiece tonight.

Wow, I was totally pumped after that performance (talking about Kris here), I thought it was awesome! I am a total Kris fan (but have not always been on board with LLWD) and have watched him perform that song many times (with varying degrees of cringing to oh, it’s alright), and this performance was A+ for me, sometimes he has a tendency to rush it when he performs it live, but not this time, and I loved the sing-song talking part, which is my favorite part of the song anyways, in this performance he really spotlighted this part, which he doesn’t always, probably because he is almost out of breath for all the dang words in this song, haha! I’m sure a mouthful like that song is crazy to perform live, but he really hit it out of the park (in my opinion) this time and I actually enjoyed the performance and the song, no cringing at all!

I finally got into this show this week. They’re all really terrific dancers.

I guess I’d pick Jacob as the best dancer (but the best dancer rarely wins this thing.) Kathryn and Eleanor are pretty terrific too. And Ryan is a real sweetheart. The great thing about this show is that it doesn’t really matter who wins. Lots of opportunities for all.

Kris looked cute and sounded really good.

So my conclusion is that Kris did fine.

I’ve never seen him perform it before and I thought he did fine too. What were people expecting… leather bondage outfits and pelvic gyrations? :lol:

The mixing kind of sucked. Couldn’t hear the lead guitarist on the intro part, or really any of his parts. Couldn’t hear the bass player except when he sang. The drummer was really playing the drums, kind of hard to fake that. The keyboard player probably had all his parts sampled, so it’s safe to say he wasn’t playing live.

Whoever said that everybody gets a sales bump off these things and most — all the non-Idols, at least — tend to sound like absolute crap was absolutely right. … Honestly, we never need to worry about any of the Idols on that score. On their worst live nights they always sound at *least* as good as other people…..And having millions of people hear your song all at once?…. Priceless.

YAY!!! I <3 this season's dancers! Aww, Mollee, you kind of grew on me, like a fungus. But in a good way. And Legacy, that was a fierce solo, so much better than last night. Bye!

I think Legacy will do just fine going out 7th. The group he’s with that danced last week was amazing, and if he goes back to them, he’ll be going back with a higher profile and maybe more tickets sold. Mark Kanemura, (I loved him) who went out 6th, has done SO well. More gigs than the people who finished higher than him, that’s for sure.

I swear I’m tempted to vote for Ryan next week. I don’t know why. I guess it’s because he’s all underdog-y and hot and he clearly adores his wife and he’s ballroom and I kind of love him LOL.

I’m sure there will be a sales bump (and as I said earlier, I actually thought Kris did really well). I don’t think this show has the viewership for a huge bump, but it will definitely be a step in the right direction.

Twitter is useless jpfan. I totally agree with you. It’s like random strangers all shouting over each other. And we have no indication whatsoever on whether or not what they’re saying has any value.

I’m glad MJ posted the Kris video. I think he looked really cute and sounded just like he always sounds. He didn’t seem tired to me and I agree with whoever says the camera loves him. My daughter just listened too and was loving Kris.

Ellenore should’ve gone instead of Mollee. Although Mollee can be annoyingly cutesy, she was among the best for the past couple of weeks. To me, Ellenore just gets stale and boring after a while. I don’t see all the hype about her. If Kathryn doesn’t win, there’s something seriously wrong with this show. I agree with Adam that she could (and to me, SHOULD) be this year’s Jeanine. My favorite guy is Russell, but once again, I feel it’s a girl’s year to take it all and it should be Kathryn.

Of course it can. Their schedule is grueling. I just wondered from some KA fans (objectively) if they thought it was good. I am not a fan but watched him (not looking for him to do bad or good) and I did not think it was good but -like I said-I am not a fan. I would not think he would pick up new fans with that performance and looking at twitterworld, he didn’t.

objectively, for me he did fine. I think that lately he improved in singing this song live. I can enjoy it now whereas I was more enjoying the recorded version before. It’s a very wordy and it needed some adjustments to be sung live (in an interview with Jim C., Kris mentioned that it was impossible to sing it live like it was recorded; he said he managed to get most of the words in it!)

Yes! Honestly… reading some of the comments, I’m doubting whether I saw the same performance. I thought it was really good. The thing that struck me was that his phrasing was slightly different… it was very subtle, but he dropped an unnecessary word here and there to make the whole thing flow better… every other performance there have been parts where it sounds rushed to get in all the words. I didn’t notice it here at all.

Now granted, I’m fighting a head cold – but I haven’t taken the meds yet, and that’s usually what makes me loopy :D.

Totally love this comment, jpfan! Just watched MJ’s video (thank you!) and will be watching when the show comes on the West Coast. Yeah, I did think Kris sounded a little hoarse, like maybe he’s coming down with a cold, but that’s extremely minor and nit-picky. The performance was just fine, and to the average viewer, would have been great.

Fortunately, no performance tomorrow, but he does play the Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden Friday night, so yet another cross country plane trip tomorrow. Get some rest Kris!

AMEN. Next week better damn well be the best episode this show has ever had, with the talent and versatility of these top 6 dancers. It really pisses me off that they’re only doing an hour performance show. I always hoped that people were wrong, but I just checked my dvr and there it was plain as day – 8-9 pm on Tuesday. Seriously, show? SERIOUSLY?

I pretty much don’t even care who wins at this point. They are all great, they have all had standout routines, they ALL deserve to be there. It may come down again to who has the best solo, like it did last season with Jeanine. Especially if they just pair them off and have them do two routines each and then each do a solo. Which I’m not sure they’d have time for in an hour.

Ugh. This season has just been a major FAIl, even if these final 6 contestants are great.

I checked again Kris and he did sound just fine! The sound was better on the video :)

I think the right girl was eliminated of what i seen of the performances. I’m not a regular of the show but I guess the one who didn’t dance last week had a solid dance track record on the show to not get eliminated.

I’m not the average viewer, and I thought he did great. I don’t know how objective I am because I’m equal parts Team Kris & Team Adam LOL. It’s a really difficult song to sing live, and I thought his delivery was very smooth. (I’ll leave the crappy stuff I said about the band on page 3 or wherever I said that – no need to repeat that part :)).

And honestly, watching Kris and Adam ping pong across the country is kind of making me tired.

Wow, tonight rocks. Firstly, my favorite dancers (Jakob, Ellenore, Kathryn!) made it to the finale, and secondly, Glee was frickin’ amazing! And I actually got to watch both shows entirely… I’m usually not able to. :)

I know who I don’t want to win, but he might. I find Ashleigh to be the weakest of the girls, but she’s such a good dancer. The main problem is vote splitting between Ashleigh and Ryan. What if you’re their family or close friends? What do you do? They will never receive the entire amount of votes they deserve to get.

I don’t believe TPTB want Kathryn to win, but she has been able to do everything handed to her. She’s my favorite from the beginning. But with Jeanine’s win last year, I imagine it will be a guy who wins? It will be quite the show. Add Adam to the mix, and we’re in for quite the treat.

ETA: Yes, Kris did a nice job!

Kris may not have a performance tomorrow but he will still be working in the morning. He is reportedly taping a guest hosting spot on Rick Dees Weekly Top 40.

Obviously, folks watching at home thought was pretty good – LLWD moved ahead of Kelly during the performance (to #30) and Kris is now the top-charting Idol on the iTunes singles chart! Yee-haw!

The album has made huge moves in the past 90 minutes also – from #161 to #96, and still climbing with the West Coast yet to come. I wonder if these album buyers are Kris fans who didn’t realize his album was even out yet. Who knows, I’m certainly not complaining. He might end the night pretty close to Top 10 in Pop Albums again, which would be a pretty amazing and awesome thing.

So yeah, back on the airplane. Knock ‘em dead in NYC Friday!

I just watched the video and thought it was great. Looked good, sounded good, can’t complain. He does an outstanding job with a very difficult song.

As for the band, they will become more comfortable as time goes on. They didn’t have the experience of being on national tv every week for 3-4 months like Kris. It has to be a little intimidating for them.

I don’t think the band is “bad”. They appear to be skilled musicians. They’re just kind of dull and not that exciting to watch. I can’t be sure if it’s the low energy they all seemed to have while Kris seemed to be expending so much. Or the fact that they were all wearing extremely dull colors. Seriously, someone in that band needs to wear a red shirt or something next time they’re on tv.

Well I’ve only just been able to view Kris’s performance & I thought it was great!! Perhaps those that didn’t like it don’t really know LLWD & maybe it was not liking the song per se rather than the performance & that’s fine !!
I’ve heard it many times & this to my ears was right up there – maybe with a little less energy than we’ve seen but voice wise just as good on my computer sound!!
Its hard on TV to get the mix quite right with a band & maybe the mix of guitars could have been better. The best mix was on Ellen when Kris performed – the band sounded great!

We don’t have this season’s SYTYCD showing in Australia yet as by the time we finished your last season this season had already started.
I’ll look forward to seeing Kris on my television!!

I thought Kris and Co did great tonight. I would have liked the backup vocals to be a little stronger, I could barely hear them, but otherwise great. And I never noticed any hoarseness in Kris’ voice, he sounded as good as he always does, to me.

I’m going to admit right up front, that I never watch SYTYCD. It is boring to me. What are the winners going to do anyway? Do they win a place in a dance troupe, or is it just something they can put on their resume? I never got the point of the show at all. I just happened to be sitting in front of the TV when it came on, and I wanted to see Kris, so I let it run. I have to say, modern dance is so not my thing if that opening group number is anything to go by. I’m not saying it wasn’t done well, but the end result was just UGLY! Yuck. IMO, YMMV, etc, etc, etc. Nothing I saw tonight changed my mind about the show. I will not be watching again.

I thought Kris sounded a little shaky in the beginning, and then of course after that the song is just so repetitive, I have difficulty trying to force myself to listen to the same refrain over and over and over again. Not a fan of that song at all! Thrilled with the results though!!

My husband watched it with me and had also seen it on Conan (I was pretty critical of that performance) and he saw the vast improvement saying he/they sounded really good!

Kris sounded good to me. Not his best performance of that song, but still very good and lively. He sounded at first like he had a sore throat, but then it evened out.

I just checked iTUnes (not the online chart) and Kris’s album is at 93 and the single at 27. Not too shabby. I didn’t check the pop numbers.

This really is the year of Sonya Tayeh. No one will ever completely replace Mia Michaels, but Sonya’s doing a damn good job of filling in. She’s incredible and I heart her.

Btw, I have always liked Sonya and her routines including the group routine tonight. But I haven’t been watching this season at all. Did watch the previous few seasons though.

I think it’s Kris attempt to appear older (on the show, it seems he made this kind of request). Lately, on the ellen show, after saying he’s been for 8 years with Katy, she told him that it was amazing considering that he didn’t look much older than that!

Just saw Kris on the West Coast in high def on my TV .. MUCH BETTER than the video MJ posted, understandably. LOVED IT – voice didn’t sound hoarse to me on the TV, only on the vid. YAY!!!!! Lots of close-up face time won’t hurt sales any.

P.S. I don’t think Kris is attempting a mustache – he’s said he hates shaving, and after 3 shows in 24 hours and a cross-country flight, I’m thinking he didn’t bother.

Just watched Kris on the West Coast.

Yea !! He was great of course. Love him in grey. Just don’t understand his doubling on clothes, just pick one. If you want to wear unbuttoned shirt, do it without the inner T-shirt. Don’t be shy :). Although I prefer his thin grey shirt from the Acoustic Cafe yesterday. And I like the dark shoes, much better than the usual ones.

Ha ha, so true! I actually don’t mind scruffy Kris every once in awhile, just not all the time. I agree he did great, but as other’s have said not the best he’s ever done it. He wasn’t quite as relaxed and joyful as in some of the Jingle Ball vids. Still, a good job, and the appearance seems to be giving his album/single a good boost.

Who ever Russel is partner with I hope they don’t get hurt. Russel was the cause of two women getting injured in this season! He is NOT good at it.

I lurve Kris in a mustache! Very hot tonight and GQ in looks and performance style. I did think the mix was a bit off even listening in head phones. Backups could have been louder.

I think Kris simply didn’t bother to shave. He’s said before that he can’t grow a beard, so I doubt he’s actually trying to grow a mustache. He was at the soundstage all day for rehearsals, etc. and he probably didn’t bring a razor with him.

In one of the recent videos he had that “forgot to shave today” look (made famous by David Cook), and I thought it looked kinda cool. You could see just a little scruff. The mustache was more noticeable tonight, but it didn’t really look bad to me. I like a little scruff! Oh, girlygirl just said that! I think this is the picture where he looks a little … scruffy for lack of a better word!

And I gotta say I was proud of Kris and the band tonight. I thought they did a really nice job! And if GLEE had not been on right after SYTYCD, who knows where the album would have ended up!! It appears to be peaking at 85…guess we’ll see if it climbed anymore in the morning.

LOL at Ashleigh advancing without, you know, dancing. What a sad joke this show has become. If there’s any justice, she’ll finish sixth.

With all the posts in this thread updating Kris’ album’s upward movement on itunes, does anyone have a rough idea of the number of units this could represent?

I thought Kris looked very cute – love the faces he makes when he sings – very sexy – and thought he did a great job also. The band seems to lack a little energy though – I wish they would all smile more.

OMG the Wonder Girls from Asia (where I live)! I didn’t know it was actually them performing. I thought it was just some other group with similar name. Quite surprised that they got to perform on an American show. Not a fan of them though lol.

Anyway, so glad that the audience seems to get into Kris’s performance that they were clapping along (nobody was clapping for Wonder Girls at all lol). His single and album are rising on itunes chart, so his performance does seem to have effect on its sales.

My only complaint is that I think his band is kind of lifeless and dull. They’re completely visually uninteresting to me as I watch them.

Visually uninteresting? I thought they are one of the hottest bands out there. You have Mr American Idol (aka Hot Pocket), Mr Arkansas, Mr (Jesus) Chris, Mr Cool Guy and Mr Cute Dork all in one place.

Kris’s album is now 75 on iTunes web chart, LLWD is 26. At the iTunes store it’s showing 85 overall. I have no idea which of those is the most accurate and up to date. Adam’s album moved to 90.

I watched SYTYCD and it was way better on my TV than the video clip here.

Watching on TV, it seemed to me the only ones actually playing were Kris, Cale, and Ryland. Given we had unshaven Kris, I am betting they got to the studio in the nick of time and didn’t have time to do a sound check and rehearsal for that stage. Ryland in a suit coat made me wonder if their luggage was still at the airport or a gopher was assigned to wait for it.

I noticed Kris look slightly upwards to his left near the beginning of the song and acknowledge something, then smile. He was great after that.

I’m happy that Mollie was voted off. She annoyed me. Good for her going out on a high note. Her Broadway performance was exceptional.

I just looked at the ITunes link and Kris Allen’s CD is at #82!! Yay! And I did a quick count of 30 or so Christmas CD’s ahead of him, so without the holiday music his CD is ranked at #52 overall, and #13 in Pop!!

I’d say the SYTYCD exposure helped Kris given the movement I’ve seen in just these posts.

I thought he did a great job performing, and like the band except the guitarist who stands to his right (and our left when we’re looking at Kris). He seems to have no energy at all. IDK his name, but he could be a little peppier IMO.

Who ever Russel is partner with I hope they don’t get hurt. Russel was the cause of two women getting injured in this season! He is NOT good at it.

Are details about Noelle’s injury available? It appeared as though she hurt her knee, and IDK how that could be Russell’s fault. Also, the drop lift where Ashleigh hurt her shoulder could be her fault. If Russell’s job was to make sure she didn’t fall, it would be her job to use her core to ensure she was steady, no? I’m curious as to how it was concluded the injuries were Russell’s fault.

ITA, weelassie. I actually voted for Mollee this week and think she’s terrific. I think that Adam was right and she was hurt by being with Nathan for so long, especially considering the judge backlash on him. For me, Russell is the most enjoyable to watch. Jakob may be technically perfect, but he just isn’t as exciting for me.

Lol- did you see the drop they were doing when Ashleigh injured her shoulder?
Watch it again- her mistake was likely in allowing her arm to go straight and not keeping some bend in the joint- it’s no wonder her shoulder was yanked out by the dropping of her weight. No way did Russell do anything to her except hold on as her anchor- she flung her own self there. Blame Ashleigh’s muscle tone, blame her lax tendons, blame her faulty drop technique, or blame the choreographer, but Russell had nothing to do with it.

I am good with these results. A bit surprised by Mollee, but clearly Legacy had done all he is able to do. His routines were turning into a series of tricks with no connecting transition- as they tell us over and over again it is the bits between the tricks that tell the tale.

Need to mention that I also feel that this season is far superior to last summer. I went in last season with high hopes, but everyone I liked dropped the ball and the whole lot of them combined couldn’t piece together the personality some of this years dancers have. There is so much talent this year that there are several I would be happy with winning, and no one I would really hate to see do so (coughBrandoncough).

I thought Kris did a good job last night. Considering the breakneck schedule he has, I was impressed with his energy. And he looked quite yummy, too!

I know that a lot of his being on the show last night was due to his workload and fitting him in where they could. But I wonder if Samantha Ronson’s presence on last night’s show played a role, too. She seems to be a big fan of Kris. I wonder if they got a chance to meet.

I’m more than sick of Ashley and Ryan, and I really wanted one of them to go last night. At least Jakob and Ellenore are in the finals!!

I’m curious as to how it was concluded the injuries were Russell’s fault.

I don’t think any of that was his fault and it’s unfair to pin the blame on Russell. Buuuut I do agree with the notion that he’s the weakest partner dancer of the three guys left. His samba was not good, the fox trot wasn’t much better. What I’ve noticed is that Russell puts himself out there in a big way, but he doesn’t really connect well with his partners. I think he sells it mostly on his own personal charisma and showmanship. He kind of fills the stage all by himself. I think maybe this works to his advantage now because we’re voting on the individual dancers and he always, always stands out. The camera rarely focused on Shane’s assistant in the hip hop (with good reason, LOL), and the judges claimed to have only watched Russell in the Bollywood. For me, Russell has yet to have awesome chemistry with any of his partners, whereas Ryan is such a giving partner that he tends to elevate his partners and almost put the spotlight on them. Ryan doesn’t really stand out to me as an individual dancer, but if I was a female in the competition I bet Ryan would be the partner I’d want. Jakob has had chemistry with every girl he’s partnered with PLUS the choreographers. He’s the one more than any other who has most successfully adapted to every style he’s given. The finale is going to be very interesting. It’s almost difficult to compare all the dancers because they are all so different.

I hated to see Molle go. She has shown herself to be a much better dancer than she appeared to be when partnered with Nathan. I felt bad for her with the controlled heaving sobs. She is very young.

I love Ellenore and Russel and will be okay with either of them winning.

To me, Jakob is by far the best dancer! Everything he does is flawless! I’m team Jakob!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mollee is out. Finally. Besides her annoying personality, it was so unfair that the judges kept praising her, she was no way in the same league as Ashleigh, Kathryn, nor Ellenore. Her routines on Tuesday were O.K. and passed the test so to speak and why because of Jakob. He is a great leader and a superb dancer. I’ll agree that matching her up with Nathan was a big mistake, pairing up two dancers that are so immature and this was reflected on the dance floor throughout their routines.

Dial Idol was right on track with their predictions. They had Russell, Jakob, Ashleigh, and Kathyrn with the top highest scores. I’m thrilled for Ellenore, she was so surprised and was a little confused as to who was going unto the finale. Ryan was surprised as well, congrats. A little sad for Legacy but I agree with the comments that he did amazing in the competition and it was his time to go.

I can’t say that I blame Mollee for being pissed that she lost to a girl who didn’t even perform. Personally, I’m glad Mollee is history, but the way Ashleigh advanced seemed very unsportsmanlike to me. Imagine if athletes got to advance even if they didn’t compete. And if she’d beaten out Ellenore, I would have been PISSED!

So excited that my favorites (Jakob, Russell, Kathryn & Ellenore) all advanced, and aside from the WTFness of the Aslheigh situation, I’m really looking forward to seeing her and Ryan in the finals.

I thought he was fine, but did I miss it or did they not bother to mention that he is the “reigning champ” of American Idol? I swear to God the re-write on that whole season is just LOLOTT. And Adam gets to perform on the finale. I’m so surprised!1!1

I think it was actuall smart for them not to mention American Idol. Kris is trying to establish himself as a musician outside of the AI bubble. I doubt they will call Adam the “AI runner-up” when he appears next week.

I don’t watch SYTYCD (this week and next week will be exceptions, because of Kris and Adam) so I’m not going to comment on who should win or get kicked off. They all dance far better than I do.

i have watched every season of sytycd. my son, who is 16, just started watching it with me. he didn’t comment much at first. as the season went on he would say things like, wow nice jump. then he said something that made me realize why i love ryan and ellenore and russell so much. “when you get lost in a dance it is because of the dance, the music but mostly the dancer. only truly amazing dancers can do that. make you forget that they are dancing on a stage for votes. when the dance is over that is when you realize you got lost.”

i never got lost with legacy. i always paid to much attention to his flips and jumps, to his athleticism. even in his waltz you could see the concentration in his face. mollee improved but to me not enough. i still saw her hesitate before certain moves and she never lost herself in a dance.

i love watching jakob dance. but i have yet to see him lose himself. the closest we get to seeing that is during his solos but they are not long enough and the cha cha. i really hope he does it next week so i can be ok with him winning.

oh, and kris allen was great last night. i’m not too fond of the scruffy but i was ok with it just to see him again. :)

Ditto. On one hand, it kind of sucks for everyone, even Ashleigh who worked her ass off all season and WANTED to dance, that the top 8 voting was tainted by the sympathy factor. It’s like winning a game by forfeit or something and detracts from the spirit of competition. On the other, before the injury, if I had to pick a final six, these are probably the six dancers I would have picked. It’s a crazy situation and I have no idea if they could have handled it differently without a whole other host of hard feelings.

Oh I don’t know. I think he loses himself quite effectively. I’ve noticed that he was a completely different person when he danced, say, the Sonya piece than when he danced the waltz than when he danced the cha cha. I think the harping on his technical prowess by the judges has kinda blinded the audience, in a way, to his actual performance quality. I wish Adam would just stfu about jetes and developpes and the like, really, and stop pointing that stuff out because that’s what people focus on, then. Interesting how perceptions vary.

Ok, he was clearly not performing live. Or was it just me? They often tape the guests separately on these shows if there is a scheduling conflict, and in the context of the live show last night, literally one of the dancers finished on an empty stage, and then right after Kris and the band were on the stage ready to go – no way that was live. Sorry if I missed this before, and I don’t think it’s a big deal (since many guests do it), but just wanted to clarify that.

Also, I’d imagine Adam WILL be live next week (except for the now requisite “Adam tape delay” – lol) because it’s the finale and it’d be lame to have a “taped” performance for the finale.

Re SYTYCD results – I wasn’t happy with them. Ryan and Ashleigh were the weakest imo, regardless of the injury, and both getting through because of the sob story was annoying to me. They might as well have danced the infamous “cancer piece” over the summer, which was similarly manipulative.

But Hooray for Jakob and Ellenore going through! They’re my favs, but I expect Russell will win (he’s like Joshua 2.0).

As you saw, during the show, Shankman went into a long spiel about each girl and got cut off by Cat because they had to show the Wondergirls’ lip-synched performance that was pre-taped on Monday, I think. So after the playback, during the commercial, Shankman stood up and said, “I got cut off talking about Ellenore for THAT?!” Considering the fact that I was sitting there watching them with a WTF face the whole time, I laughed so hard at that comment. I love Shankers.

I feel ya’ on that one Shankman.

I’m not so sure about that. Pretaping the performances earlier in the day is SOP for this show, particularly for the reason you mentioned. It’s difficult to have a dancer on stage one minute – then a band and their equipment the next. Especially during a live show. I don’t know how fast the roadies can move during a commercial break.

Kinda like DC on Carrie’s special? No, seriously, I thought Kris did great. Was it his best? No, but it was solid. And the boy has gotta be incredibly tired with his grueling schedule!

I thought Kris did great last night and by the looks of the movement on iTunes it was a great marketing opportunity as well.

I don’t know how to feel about Ashleigh getting through…it’s like getting to the final exam, having your pen run out of ink and getting an A anyway becuase everyone felt bad for you. I just don’t know. The top for me that I look forward to seeing are Ellenore, Jakob, and Russell.

But only an hour for the performance show? What is up with that. I think I would rather see the show stay during the summer months if this is what happens when it moves to the fall.

I don’t know whether they can move bands on and off the stage fast enough to accommodate the vast number of performances that they have on finale night. They need the place cleared for dancers, stat, as they run through all those fave dances for the season, etc. ….

I would actually expect any and all non-SYTYCD musical acts to be taped. The logistics of setting up for singers then dismantling again, between dance numbers, just doesn’t compute, to me.

Have you guys seen this? It’s Nathan and Noelle on the Ellen show. (Starts at about 1:50.) They are freakin AMAZING together. Ah-maz-ing. And aint nothing little boy about Nathan with Noelle. Who was holding WHO back again, show? ~rolls eyes~

I thought Kris sang really well, but he looked really tired. He wasn’t smiling as much as he usually does when he’s singing LLWD and I didn’t like that they had a backing track for the background vocals instead of just the live band. But then again, maybe they just wanted to be sure it wouldn’t come off weird on sound mixing.
