Gah, Nigel. I was hoping to take a momentary break from all my Michael sadness, but I should have figured it would have been mentioned on SYTYCD as well, considering how much Michael has done for dance.

And the waterworks begin again.

I don’t know about anyone else but I put my points on Jonathan and Karla this evening…which means nothing because I’ve not won a single point in this pool unless it comes from the luck of a bonus.

Anyone know what the secret is to accessing chat? I keep trying every week and it never recognizes my username. :(

Very happy Evan/Randi made it through as well as Melissa/Abe. Wish Phillip would end up in the bottom 3 already. I will be sad if he lasts longer than Evan.

I really don’t like Nigel, so it makes me feel yucky that he said what I was thinking about Fred Astaire. I adored Fred Astaire. Seriously. I used to bring a cake to work every year for his birthday. (May 10, in case anyone wants to do their own Fred b-day party.) So when he said he loved Michael Jackson’s dancing, it legitimized MJ for me in a way. And now Nigel said the same thing. Oh well.

I pretty much knew Vitolio and Asuka would be B3. I still feel kind of sad for him, though, and he didn’t look very happy, either.

And Philip safe. Sigh. That boy has a very ugly mug and his dancing last night was so hard to watch. I hope his fans will let him go so the better dancers can stay…

Btw, in the last group, where everybody but V & A were safe, I think we saw 4/5 of the Top Ten right there. Philip/Jeanine, Brandon/Janette, Evan/Randi and Ade/Melissa are SO in the Top 10, and Kupono and Kayla are probably the last two in that group with them. Which makes me sad.

I hope Vitolio, Jason and Karla really knock their solos out of the park. But I don’t think Nigel will let Caitlin go, so the other girls are starting at a disadvantage.

For the guys, let’s send Jonathan home. I have my points on Asuka, but I won’t be sad if Caitlin goes either.

Although I’m sure Nigel will comment about how hard it is for a ballroom dancer to do solos before she gets the boot.

So far, all of the solos have been underwhelming to say the least.

The guest dancers make me wish for the FAR superior Diversity (Britain’s Got Talent). I notice though that these dancers are doing their level best to rip off most of Diversity’s better moves….without success.
C’mon SYTYCD: Give us the real thing-I want some Diversity!

I agree.

While Diversity may be better than this riff raff they are nowhere near as good as JabbawockeeZ, Kaba Modern, Fanny Pack, Quest Crew, Beat Freaks….. I’d rather see one of these crews preform myself.

I agree to that completely, but I keep getting everything I want WRONG so I’ll probably lose Karla, and that’s too bad, because I like her, and instead of Jonathan lose Jason who has way more promise.

Asuka was such a disappointment, especially comparing her to Latin Ballroom females of previous seasons. I had her tentatively marked as a chosen one based on style, sex and race — but then I saw her dance. ;)

I would have sent both of them home as well.

Well, if I can’t get Phillip gone at least I can get Jonathan gone. He was relying, in my opinion too much on his “cuteness”.

Asuka has needed to go since week 1, at least so I thought. I just never thought she was strong enough, not if I compare her with the person of a similar style in the competition.

While I got some of my points right, I’m glad I didn’t lose Karla and lost Asuka instead.

I wish Vitolio had gone instead of Jonathan but if it wasn’t this week it would have been next.

I am really getting into this show. It’s so well produced!!

For those particiapting in the pool: is anyone else having trouble viewing the pool pages? When I try to look at standings, etc., most the the text that should be in the middle of the page is off the page to the right with now way to view it. Is this happening to anyone else or is it just my browser?

Did anybody else think that maybe Asuka has a little bit of a crush on Vitolio? The couples always get close, but she seemed to be really into him. That might be kind of cute, if they found love on SYTYCD. I know a lot of people were shipping Lacey and Kameron a couple of seasons ago, and then it turned out that Kameron and Sabra were the real love connection. So I guess connecting as partners isn’t necessarily any big deal. I was just wondering…

No, ettacandy – I don’t have that problem. My problem is trying to change my final picks.

I also am able to view the TOP 13 American Idol episode (without commercials). It is quite meaningful. What irony.

Nigel can be very strict with harsh criticism, but I haven’t felt he was attacking the person, their looks, or the clothing they wear. Simon should take some hints on how to give out criticism!

This show loves to play up the “showmance” side, but even with that I felt that Vitolio and Asuka had chemistry beyond dancing.

I thought I also heard Dmitri’s name mentioned. Talk about showmance, was Dmitri linked with Allison? I believe they danced a number at the finale.

Watching the Thriller video again reminds me of several of the choreographed numbers presented on SYTYCD. Seems dancers were also influenced by Michael Jackson. What a talent he was.

The right ones went home tonight, I’m digging this show, it’s so well produced and I really like the B3 is set by the people but final decision relays on the judges.

About the group performance… that was hot!, I really liked Brandon in the guys hip hop part he really was a stand out, Kayla was fierce at the beginning, and Jeanine at the end.

I thought Jaimie was with Stanislav who she met through Faina? Or did I remember that wrong as well? When it comes to Ivan, the gossip tends to be in regards to Travis.

Why I know this? I could claim it’s my friends in the danceworld and being such a fan of this show (I am bummed that I still haven’t gotten into it yet this season), but nah… I don’t even want to pretend to be Mary Murphy. ;)

I never heard anything about Jaimie with Stanislav, but the Jaimie/Ivan thing was pretty well documented in pictures (them kissing and her captioning “my love” underneath and stuff like that) and on their Myspaces and such. There were a lot of rumors about Ivan and Travis (who is also really good friends with Allison and Jaimie) but all the real info seems to be that Ivan is straight, that he and Jaimie were definitely together, and Ivan and Travis were just really, really close friends and dance partners and never a romantic thang.

I think Jaimie and Ivan broke up, but I’m not sure about that. And they’re still friends, at least on Myspace.

I’d still like to know who Allison is with, though! I’d love to see Danny, Travis, Jaimie and Allison have their own company and do whatever the hell they want. It was so annoying that Allison and Travis never got to dance together on the show.

Wow, I missed most of last night’s show and decided to put my points on the two dancer’s I thought were probably the weakest left. I finally got some points. All of them, in fact, including the bonus pts. Maybe I should quit analyzing? LOL.

Finally, I think the judges got it right. Actually, I never felt like Asuka or probably Jonathan belonged in the top 20 in the first place. I thought both got by on their looks, Asuka for looking exotic and alluring and Jonathan for his cuteness. Neither are exceptional dancers. Actually, I think Jonathan is much more of a gymnast than he is a dancer. Maybe they were just chosen to add some visual interest to the mix. Regardless, good decision this time.

I think Karla and Vitolio have promise as a couple. I thought Vitolio’s solo was pretty great. It was really remarkable how much scolding all the guys got from Nigel. But ultimately, he’s right. I bet many felt like we’ve been getting some lukewarm performances the last couple of shows and some of the dancers really do need to pick up their game.

BTW, I loved the opening number. Hawwt (and wet)!

Anyway, I figured out another reason why I adore Evan so much besides his dancing style. I am charmed by how bashful and old fashioned his personality seems to be. As Mary Murphy noticed last night, Evan can easily be seen as the leading man.

It was so cool that Karla danced to 15 Step. Best Radiohead song EVAR!

That great song choice aside, this show mostly gets it right. They give the contestants room to do something beautiful, which is great. My only complaint is the judges talk too long (and that Mary Murphy lady is scary when she screams).

I honestly cannot believe how great Vitolio’s solo was. He didn’t impress me much with his partner but alone…..wow. Hopefull, a new partner will allow him to show more of his ooomph and not worry so much about Asuka. She had such a snotty personality. When Vitolio talked about why she said she couldn’t act sexy, etc with him was because she said she wasn’t attracted to him that made me grind my teeth. Hopefully, I heard it wrong. No reason to tell that to the guy. It could only make him feel bad. But then this week, she acted liked she really like him. Confusion!

Yay, I also agree the right ones went home this week. Top couples after 3 weeks for me Melissa/Ade, Janette/Brandon, Randi/Evan. I’d be really surprised if they weren’t all in the top 10. I was really happy that Kupono and Kayla weren’t in the bottom 3, I hope they do well next week also. They seem to work well together, although I think Kayla might be a stronger dancer than Kupono. Phillip, oh well. Kinda sad they put him on the show, he just can’t do the other styles very well … Can Evan get the chance to do an old broadway routine? Probably not. Boos.

Thanks for posting these videos I really wanted to see Phillip and Jeanine but had difficulty finding it on line. I totally forgot to check this site, won’t make that mistake anymore. I actually enjoyed their number and thought it was pretty good over all. Personally I hope Phillip and Jeanine keep getting voted through, she’s really good and he’s absolutely mind blowing when he dances his style.

What about that group number??? It was great, IMO one of the best ever… Mixing such a different stiles in one great atmosfere, I realy realy enjoy that…
And Kayla was great she really shined in front of the group :)

I even tried reregistering with a new account when the show started in May – still didn’t work for me. I tried Firefox 3, Internet Explorer 8. I’ve got the latest version of Flash in both. All cookies allowed… No matter what I’ve done it always tells me that it doesn’t recognize my userID (clicking on American Idol just tells me that I have to log in first). I assume there’s some sort of Vista security setting that won’t allow it to work even though I turned that d@mn authentication crap off, but who knows….. There’s no point in my trying with a XP desktop since it’s not anywhere near the tv. :glurps_tb: Is there anyone with Vista who gets in without trouble?

Sniff, the MJ tribute. I think anyone who has ever danced learned that choreo for Thriller. So iconic.

Oh. My. That opening number? Dmitry always brings teh sexy to his choreo. So I kinda figured TPTB have been salivating at the thought of Kayla and Ade dancing together at the end of the season. They’ve partnered before. Here’s a workshop vid of a piece Ade and Kayla choreographed. Giving us a little taste there? I gotta say, def chem. I noticed that Ade/Pono/Jason once again led off the choreo for the guys. Those three were especially great in the latin sections, and Brandon killed the hip hop sections. And Kayla.. Say what you want about the pimping, but she owned the stage there. Next time, though, they need wet guys table dancing. *cough*

It’s shame that Karla didn’t dance a clean solo because it was the best choreographed piece of the bunch by far. Caitlin’s, OTOH, was well executed but borrrring. Vitolio needs to watch his musicality. The dancing was impassioned but the music seemed irrelevant. Jason’s solo was a tad frantic but I kinda liked it anyway. Jonathan’s solo was a mess. He’s a great gymnast but was def the weakest dancer left. I just don’t think he was ready for this show, so they made the right decision. (Well, the right decision would have been not putting him through to top 20 yet in the first place, but I digress…) And Asuka is one of those cases of an early fave crumbling under the pressure. I’m kinda sad that she never really got a chance to dance a latin piece, but they kept the struggling Comfort around way too long last season to give her a chance to kill those hip hops with Mark and Twitch, and it didn’t always seem fair. Tough call.

First off, MJ I am soooo grateful to YOU – thursday are the hardest day for me to sit down for just a minute to watch TV. My sister told me not to miss this show and but for you I would have! Sad about Jonathan but very happy that Sukface, as my sister, named her is gone. I was so sick of watching her trying to make the sexyface all the time, she was so annoying. NOW – who is my fav, they are all so good – just love this show
