So You Think You Can Dance Jr Rumor Confirmed?

Many of us were hoping that the rumor So You Think You Can Dance would be coming back this summer as a competition for kids was wrong. But this Instagram announcement posted by SYTYCD alum, Kathryn McCormick, seems to confirm that the rumor is true.

It looks like casting for the new season is currently underway, with executive producer, Jeff Thackery, quietly visiting dance studios across the country to recruit young dancers for the “new” SYTYCD Jrs format. Nothing is confirmed yet, but it’s looking like a go for SYTYCD Jr.

I suppose it’s a miracle to get the show back on TV at all after last summer’s series low ratings. With the success of formats like Masterchef Jr. and Project Runway Jr–not to mention Dance Moms–It’s understandable that FOX might go there. But personally, I’m not up for a season of kidlet dancers.

At the TCA FOX executive panel on Friday, FOX chief, Dana Walden, would not answer any direct questions about how and when SYTYCD would come back, only that she anticipated that it would.

We hope [that it’s going to return],” said Walden at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena. “We’re not finished in our conversations with the producers, but we love the show and hope and anticipate that it will be coming back.”

Repost from @dancemakersinc ??? Boston and Anaheim!!! Don’t miss it!!! Excited to have Jeff Thacker with us in these select cities.
