Thursday night’s finale made up for Wednesday’s tired performance show. Loved seeing some of the best dances of the season reprised. What fun to see Nigel and Mary dance. Awesome group dances, and the reunion of dancers from past seasons was a real treat. The two hours just flew by. Very entertaining! Although the ending wasn’t a surprise, it was still pretty cool to see Joshua’s reaction to being voted America’s Favorite Dancer. Heh.

Katee was given a new prize–$50,000 for being the Top Girl. I wonder if the eliminations were announced according to who polled the fewest votes? It was never announced that way. I’m thinking that Katee was singled out earlier (I’m thinking she actually came in second) so she could have her own separate moment as Top Girl.

Anyway, I loved covering this show this summer. Thank you everyone for taking the ride with me! I’ll be back next season, for sure…

  • drea

Aww, Courtney is making me cry! She is adorable.

  • AInoob

Dammit, Courtney made me cry two days in a row!

    Anyone know who Jeff is?

  • Hoppy

Holy crap. I can’t believe I called that Katee would leave before Twitch! YAYYYY FOR TWITCH! :D

I kinda had a feeling he won over some votes last night and the week before.

  • GeminiDolly

Im rooting for Twitch, but if Josh wins Im okay with that. Texas Represent! ha ha

  • idolbeat

    Go Twitch!
Props to Katee, the best technical dancer!

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Eeeek! Go Josh! I think if he wins, I win the pool! And this is all about the POINTS people, and the bragging rights. LOL.

  • drea

I think Jeff might be the guy who brought out the flowers, she hugged him a little extra when did. I looked the show on imdb and Jeff Thacker is the senior producer.

  • idolbeat

    I love the top 2!

  • idolbeat

I hope Twitchington gets one dance Please!

  • drea

Mary picks Katee and Willà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Pax De Deux – Song: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Imagineà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by David Archuleta – (they nailed the turn!)

Mia chose this one I think. I’m wondering if Debbie is going to choose one….and why did Mary pick two?

  • AInoob

Aha, thanks for doing that, drea!

I’m going to guess that the next dance pick is going to be one with Joshua since all the dances have included one of the top 4 and Josh has only had one so far. If I were to hazard a guess, its probably the tango he did with Chelsie.

Uh…I just don’t get the big deal about the Jonas Brothers. But then, I’m not one to throw stones, I was a huge NKOTB fan in my day :redface_wp:

  • gingerly

Wow. Didn’t know the top girl got something. Hope the 2nd place gets something as well…doesn’t seem right otherwise, though Joshua and Katee are my favorites. I think Joshua will win (crossing fingers, toes, eyes, etc.) but it wouldn’t seem fair if Twitch didn’t get something too…or conversely if Twitch wins (uncrosses previously said items).

  • idolbeat

No Air and hopefully the Bed!

  • idolbeat

I agree Gingerly, it wouldn’t be fair!

  • SpenserJ

Before I finish watching, I’m going to say two things that sort of shock me:

I have to give it up to Nigel. Naturally he got schooled by a few of those enormously talented kids – but for his age, he did a great job.

And, one of those Jonas brothers is a pretty crappy singer, but damn that’s a catchy tune. So, outside of the bum notes, I totally liked a Jonas Brothers song.

Feel free to point and laugh :)

  • gingerly

I’m having to wait for the videos because my local faux affiliate feels pre-season football should preempt the finale of a show I’ve been watching since the beginning. I seriously doubt I’ll be watching the Jonas Bros. video….

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

Gingerly – your local Fox station cant do that!!! No way – the first pre season football game isnt on until 8/14 anyways. Someone has really screwed up at that station if they are advertising that! Local affiliates can mess around with syndicated programming but never with prime.

  • MrsTrep

sumidol – Patriots are on tonight… preseason has begun.. Thankfully they aren’t on fox here :)

  • AInoob

I’m so glad to see the No Air routine and Twitchington. I didn’t think they’d bring Katee and Twitch out for another routine each – damn, those two really got worked this week!

This being my first season watching, I didn’t know who was who on the stage dancing the Best of the Best of SYTYCD but it was so much fun to watch. The only one I recognized was Lacey Schwimmer (and that only because of those rumors after IGB about her and DC, lol) were any of them their season’s winner?

  • gingerly

Maybe they can’t, but they did. It’s Chiefs vs. Bears.

  • idolbeat

    Congrats Josh and Sarah!

If Twitch only gets flowers, that is just wrong!

  • SpenserJ

Yeah, I thought next Thursday was the begining of the pre-season football?

    Some more random thoughts:

I could tell as soon as the top 20 came out to dance that Kherington got her spark back. I’m glad she got to dance with Twitch again too. She’s a really lovely dancer.

I pretty much liked all of the judges picks tonight, and it was nice to see Gev again.

Mary looked fantastic in her little dance outfit. And, who wouldn’t want to dance with Dimitri!

  • gingerly

    Who is Sarah?

  • GeminiDolly

Congrats to Joshua. I also hope Twitch gets more than just flowers.

  • idolbeat

    Sarah on here silly!

  • MrsTrep

Twitch rocks! He put Josh up on his shoulder! I’m sad the season is over!! Wow!!

I LOVED seeing Gev & Courtney dance again, he totally looks like he is in LURV with her every time they dance and it’s beautiful. I was psyched to see No Air again, and the door, but I was sad the bed was skipped!

    Off to bed!

  • AInoob

    Congrats to Joshua!

  • catdog

Well, congrats to Joshua – he really deserves it! This was a fabulous show – loved all the surprises – Mary and Nigel! I have been dying to see them dance since season one. They still got it! And what a surprise for Katee – you go girl – $50,000!

  • gingerly

oh lol….woohoo Joshua was my favorite since the first night when he hugged Katee with his hand on her head, the way DC did to Carly…a silly reason I know but it’s my reason :)

  • http://www.stilhope.com bc4me

Loved, loved, loved the whole thing. Especially Mark and Chelsie doing Bleeding Love again. Cat Rocks! Now THAT is a finale.

    Congrats to Josh.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

Thanks Mrs Trep – I have worked for FOX for 6 years and they cant switch out prime programming especially for a finale. Pre – season games that Fox have the rights to air start 8/14 and 8/15 so that is really odd for that station??? ESPN has the rights to air the games this week. Check out your local programming and you will see – all stations HAVE to air the same programming in prime. All stations receive all the same info so somethings weird there. Oh well – YEAH I JUST FOUND OUT JOSHUA WONNNNN!!!!!!! WHOOT WHOOT

  • gingerly

Well it’s not on until 11 here. I won’t be watching it. In fact, as I emailed them, I won’t be watching any of their local programming anymore. I feel that I did my part and sat through their 1/2 hour (at least) of commercials per episode, and then they betrayed me. So yeah, no more faux news for me…..

  • KrazeeK120

I like the song too. I wish you had been in chat. I felt so alone!!

  • lilbrusc102

ahhhhh!!! Yay Joshua! Twitch was my fave since last year, but Joshua was totally deserving!!! Aw, this whole finale made me sooo happy! The encores, the group numbers, Nigel and Mary dancing, Lil C’s analogies, heck, even the Jonas bros….it was perfect. I love this show, and I’m going to miss it!

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Thanks idolbeat. I was crossing my fingers that Josh would win and that my math was right. So yay for bragging rights and YAY for Josh! :)

That really was a great finale. The focus was mostly on the dancers, as it should have been, and it was very well put together and produced. I really enjoyed the whole thing.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

Awwww sorry Gingerly your station is going to be in trouble with the advertisors too believe me – they pay WAY more to air in SYTUCD finale at the time it is supposed to air – they are going to be processing a whole bunch of credits for running out of tp ordered! I just watched Courtney with Gev again, too precious. I can never help myself and get on here to find out before I watch, but now I can watch stress free knowing Joshua won.

  • SpenserJ

I like the song too. I wish you had been in chat. I felt so alone!!

My apologies pumpkin! I was watching the show in between bath and shower time. And, one of the little spense’s is under the weather. So, if I had been in chat, it would have just been me typing a whole lot of “brb” LOL.

Congrats to Joshua, and to those of you who just kicked my ass in the pool :)

That was a really fun finale. I liked so many of the little surprises – especially seeing the big group of previous dancers.

After watching Twitch hug all of his partners, and whisper in their ears – then seeing his reaction to Josh’s win, I’ve concluded that I just really want Twitch to be my best friend.

Both Katee and Courtney went out with class, and they both danced so well tonight.

Just thinking about how much they had to rehearse this week, learning Wednesday routines, group dances, re-rehearsing their prior routines, makes me freaking exhausted. They must have danced 12 or more hours a day.

I loved Debbie Allen’s idea that all of the judges should have to dance next year. I had a fond flashback of Debbie kicking all kinds of ass back in the Fame days. I also loved when she quoted Lil C – that was hysterical.

I think I’ve figured out why I like the SYTYCD finale so much better than the AI finale – it’s just so much more vibrant and energized. No trotting out old fossils to give away platinum records, no resurrecting the careers of singers who haven’t sung in public in 20 years, new current music, oh and of course – no Randy.

  • gingerly

WTG Sarah…I came in third :) not bad for my first pool and not even knowing about the bonus questions for the first 3 weeks. It’s all good though, I’m glad Joshua won. I would have happily come in last :)

  • weelassie

The sparkle was back in Kherington’s eyes. Loved seeing her dance with Twitch. He puts her down out of the lifts so beautifully and her stretch in the landings is so graceful. I really thought she would go further but I think she ran out of gas.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

Congrats, Sarah! I ended up in eight… no bad considering I totally wiped out two weeks with zero points.

I guess I missed everyone in chat. :(

I was busy doing work since I couldn’t watch the effing show thanks to FOX Chicago.

  • daisy

Yeah for Joshua!! My fav finally comes in first, so cool.
In seven seasons of AI, my fav always a bridemaid and I love this feeling! Great show, and what an enjoyable finale, Cat is a perfect hostess and the spotlight on the dancers makes it so exciting, these kids worked their butts off and the passion in their faces, wonderful.
Ai could learn a few lessons from this show

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

So, after watching the finale tonight, these are my requests for next year:

    - More Sonya.
    - Less Tyce.
    - Less NappyTabs.
    - Shane Sparks and Wade Robson back on the regular choreographer rotation, PRONTO.
    - Dan Karaty as a permanent judge. Or at least given more than 1 judging week. Or at least a spot on the finale judging panel, if he’s going to be allowed a spot in the auditions phase!
    - Less blatant pimping.
    - More “international” routines. I really enjoyed the “specialty” dances this year.

  • champ

Only one Chelsie dance? I’m crushed. But yay for two Mark’s. And Courtney tugs at my heart.

  • gingerly

Well I can’t watch the sonja jazz video. It tries to connect me to iTunes and then nothing. That’s even more reason to hate Fox in Chicago…fox in general actually for their ultra right wing views…anyhow, Joshua won so I’m happy. Whether I get to see it or not, he won. I guess that’s all that matters.

  • jpfan

I really liked The Door routine, No Air (most memorable routine of the season IMHO), Nigel dancing with the kids (he was amazingly good) and the return of the past contestants including Benjy and Travis. I liked all of the final four so I’m fine with the Joshua win. Keeping it real, while I liked all four I can’t say that any of them has that extra something, something that makes a star but all talented and wonderful people.

Seeing Nigel and Mary dance so well was impressive. It’s not like Idol where aside from Paula (stretching it), those who can’t sing, judge.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

Well I can’t watch the sonja jazz video

It’s not up yet. Look for a link called “Video”. I’m also linking all the songs to iTunes to make it easy to purchase songs…

  • dancingqueen

Congrats to Josh from A Twitch fan! Loved seeing the “Door” and “Bollywood” routines again, and the “Pas de Deux”, and, and, and. Yea for a Shane Sparks routine!

I agree that this show makes the finale fun, whereas, AI makes theirs a trainwreck. Having some of the JIDGES!(tm Cat)/guest jidges/choreographers dance at some point during the season would be fantastic.

It was nice to hear what some of the former contestants have accomplished. Other than going on tour, we never seem to get any news about them after that. I wish all of the top 20 fabulous careers, whichever dance path they choose.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

Tonight is such a good night, I love all the pieces they brought back, Comfort still urks me but I am soooo glad I got to see my newest Love Mark back with Courtney and Chelsea -

  • SpenserJ

Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not like Idol where aside from Paula (stretching it),

That’s a pretty big stretch there jpfan :)

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m also linking all the songs to iTunes to make it easy to purchase songsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

Ah! I’m already a little tempted to buy that Jonas Brothers song. Oh the shame. LOL

  • MN Sue

What a fun ride we had this year! I give it up to Nigel who casted a great Top 18. (Sawry, but I couldn’t stand Jamie or Susie). The finale was crisp, joyful, and just damn fun!
I’d also like to give mj major props for giving us a place to talk all things dance. We had a good mix of newbies and seasoned viewers who never ceased to inform, incite, and entertain me with their thoughts. I’m lifting my glass of red to mj, spense, and the rest of the faithful.
And as Nigel proved tonight, you’re never too old to shake your tail feather. Dance on, everyone.

  • spritely

Oh, yay! My favs won on both this show and AI.

They showed my fav dances–No Air, Bleeding Love, and Sonya’s wild number. The only one of my favs that was missing was The Bed.

I really loved the kids in the final 6. Such grace and power and sweetness and class.

(I liked Wade’s choreography for Cirque, but jeez, I’ll bet it gave some little kids nightmares, lol. Tribute to dead rabbits?)

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

ALLLLL four of those dancers most definitely have that something extra special in my small little book, I saw that spark right away, the first time I watched Joshua. SpenserJ I do believe you saw that in Twitch right off and a whole lot of other people. Courtney crept up on me and I just adore her, Katee is a wonderful dancer. I loved the door routine where Twitch most definitely did more than hold it up – SpenserJ ssssshhhhh – dont you hate getting modded but sometimes we all just feel so strongly about someone it just comes out doesnt it??? I loved tonight but I am so sad to see this end in large part because I will miss the banter back and forth on this blog in regards to this season of SYTUCD.

  • snuffles

OMG! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED the Wade Robeson dance!! BRILLIANT!!

  • Polaris

What i really hate about these shows is that the second place finisher never gets the spot light. Everyone got to say what they felt about their experience and had a goodbye package shown with their best moments. I really wanted to hear what twitch had to say but instead he got pulled off the stage :(

All in all, it was a great show and all 4 of them are remarkable dancers. I hope they go to accomplish great things.

and thanks MJ for the videos because I couldn’t have watched it otherwise.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

Okay, after watching Nigel tap dance, I have to give him some props. Not only does he hold his own, he’s also able to laugh at himself. Now I’m wondering if he’s been taking the heat for the other producers of AI. He’s was the most visible and therefore the one we tend to blame.

Oh, and Spense, I wanna be Twitch’s friend, too! :)

  • lilbrusc102

aw, I know it probably makes me totally lame, but I can’t stop watching the “Best of SYTYCD” number! It was so exciting to see the old faces mingling with the new…it’s like a big extended family! It almost brought happy tears to my eyes, haha. I Love it!

oh, and I’d like to join the “I want to be best friends w/ Twitch” club!!! :)

  • snuffles

I don’t think Nigel was taking the heat for anyone. He is equally guilty for all of AI’s evils.

BUT, I DO think SYTYCD is a true labor of love for him and it shows. He’s made this show more about the love of the ART FORM of dance than the cut throat competition AI has turned into.

Plus AI/19Evil and Sony/BMG are primarily focused on creating a marketable winner that will SELL, SELL, SELL!!! So unfortunately, AI will never have that sense of celebrating all kinds of music just for the joy of music.

  • stelladallas

I loved the tap dancing. Tap dancing is HARD! So it was nice to see a featured tap number. I was also thrilled to see a Shane routine. His choreography always brings excitement to the show.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

Aww, poor Will. He really is excellent. Yes, I’m watching the delay. Damn Fox Chicago.

Looks like Mia needs to stop those tanning salon sessions. She looks RED.

  • SpenserJ

There is room for all who wish to join the Friends of Twitch club.

MN Sue – I toast right back at ya :)

    Sumidol, you make me giggle.

I suppose I’m going to have to start watching America’s Got Talent now, so I’ll have something to talk about with you guys. I’m not sure I can watch any more AI concert videos LOL.

Nigen can definitely be an asshat, but he sure does know his stuff when it comes to this show. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens when he leaves AI – maybe that will give us a hint as to how much of what we hated was actually his fault.

While I love watching AI, there is just so much about this show that I like better. And, I really think it must be the people. Cat seems to be about the nicest human being on the planet. And although Mary’s screams can make cats cry, she really does love dancers. You can tell she’s supportive, even when she’s giving them a poor critique. I do get mad at Nigel’s judging once in a while, but he never seems to leave that lingering negativity in the air for the whole freaking show like Simon can do.

I also love the rotating 3rd judges. They’re all so knowledgable – that even when I don’t agree with them – at least I know they deserve to be there. Personally, I don’t believe either Paula or Randy is qualified to judge a singing competition.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

Yeah, I really heart Cat. She’s an awesome host. I’ve heard lots of good things about how Ryan is always on his toes and runs a great show, but I don’t get the same warmth from him as I do Cat.

Don’t get my started on Randy or Pauler. Note she’s not guest judging on SYTYCD.

Honestly, AI should keep Pauler for entertainment and get rid of Randy. He’s useless. Let’s have a rotating judge instead of a mentor. Or both.

  • weelassie

I really am amazed that these dancers remember all of their old routines. You would think all those routines would mesh in their minds. Kudos to them for keeping them all apart and remembering all the little moves.

And, just to add-Courtney and Gev are so darn cute together.

  • primeminister

First off, congratulations to Joshua and Sarah for being #1!

Secondly, allow me to be my teenage self and say….Jonas Brothers FTW! lol.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

Aww, PM. I logged back in just to critique the Jonas Bros.

The song is catchy, but the guy with the guitar wasn’t playing it as far as I could tell. He was showing off, but not playing. The real band was waaay in the back. Then, they seemed to give another brother a guitar at the end. Gah.

They are the modern day BSB or NKOTB with fake instruments.

  • movin2thabeet

What a great finale although I could have done without the Jonas Brothers – the one anomaly that had nothing to do with celebrating dance (or music for that matter). Congratulations to Joshua for the win. Much deserved in my book. And I love that they also gave Katee props as well. Face it, women are disadvantaged on this show.

Speaking of, whatever became of the previous season’s winner, Sabra? I don’t think she was on the stage tonight with the “best of” and I never hear word of her. (Never did really get the excitement about her. Thought Danny was a much better dancer and entertainer).

It was great to see so many of the previous dancers on the show. Highlights for me were Travis!!!, Hok!!, Neil and I think Dominic was there.

Great to see Wade Robson’s piece, I have missed his choreography this year, and Shane Sparks. Hopefully they’ll be back next year. But there have been alot of great changes to the show – Sonja, Dave Scott, Lil C as choreographer and judge (YEA!), Tabitha/Napoleon and Dwight Rhoden/Desmond Richardson, choreographers of the Pas de Deux. Loved the broadening of styles to also include more international styles like the Bollywood dance and the Trepak. I think they had a much better mix of styles this year than any other, the choreographers to bring the artistry and dancers who were up to the challenge of dynamic execution.

This night was filled with many of my faves. I realized how much I love Mark’s dancing. It was so great to see him again, both in Bleeding Heart with Chelsie and in The Garden with Courtney. And Will and the Pas de Deux with Katee – breathless, truly. And the door routine with Twitch and Katee. And Gev and Courtney. I could go on and on.

So, I’m really looking forward to see what SYTYCD Canada will be like. It starts this fall. The previews look enticing. I live in a border town so I can watch it on TV, but hopefully MJ will find a video source and can cover it here. Crossing fingers and toes.

  • http://myspace.com/bigbooty_hoes sarahjean

bleeding love was performed and filmed/shot so much better originally but of course it still goes down as my favorite performance that I’ve seen on So You Think You Can Dance. I love Chelsie and Mark both and really wish they would have made it into the top4. But I’m so happy for Josh I’m glad of the four remaining he’s the one that won. ah. love this show.

  • bjames

    best. finale. ever.

i loved that the guests were kept to a minimum and that it was all about the dancers. why couldn’t nigel do that on idol?

  • Dlynne

    best. finale. ever.

Yes, it really was! I was a little worried about a two-hour show but it did not disappoint.

Congrats to Joshua! I would have been happy with any of the final four winning. Heck, I would have liked any of the final six winning!

It was a great season! Thank you, MJ, for giving us a really fun place to catch up and talk about it!

  • Polaris

bleeding love was performed and filmed/shot so much better originally

Yeah i noticed the mistakes too. I thought chelsie was gonna fall when she kicked the suitcase :/

  • Grammie Kari

It was a TERRIFIC finale with a few surprises! Mary and Nigel proved they could really dance. It was great seeing some of the best from previous seasons. And this season did have a some exceptually talented dancers.

Congratulations to Joshua! My heart has softened for Katee; and I loved Twitch and Courtney showing why they were in the final four!

    Where was Sabra?

I also love the rotating 3rd judges. Theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re all so knowledgable – that even when I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t agree with them – at least I know they deserve to be there. Personally, I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe either Paula or Randy is qualified to judge a singing competition.

I kept hoping Randy would ‘snap out of it’ and prove he can articulate the knowledge he has obtained over the years. It just never happened. He’s useless and Paula is a mess.

Thank you MJ for providing a place for us to share our love for dance and to learn new things along the way!

  • Polaris

I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe either Paula or Randy is qualified to judge a singing competition.

Can’t they clone Little C, teach him a thing or too about music and replace Randy with him. He is better than all 3 AI jidges (tm Cat :P ) combined.

    Where was Sabra?

Nick the winner of season one was also missing, though he was in the openning of IGB.

What a fantastic finale! I loved the concentration being on the dancers, which was precisely where it should have been. Loved the reprisals of favorite routines from the season, although I was really hoping they were going to do “The Bed”. It was great that Mary and Nigel got to show off for a bit and I think they both did admirably well.

Congratulations to Josh! I thought he was going to take it, but I would have been just as happy if Twitch had won. My only criticism of the show (well, other than the inclusion of the Jonas Brothers who had nothing to do with anything) is that Twitch didn’t get a chance to speak and we didn’t have the opportunity to see a review of his journey on SYTYCD. Glad Katee got the $50,000. All in all, it was definitely a feel good night. Courtney touched me so much. I’m so glad she made the top 4.

Congratulations to Sarah! I placed 12th in mj’s pool and 1st in Rickey’s! LOL! When I couldn’t make up my mind between my choices, I’d make different choices on each of the pools. Obviously I put the better guesses on Rickey’s pool. The games made it even more fun watching the show. Thank you, mj, for running it.

More importantly, mj, thanks for covering this show this summer. It is definitely a favorite and your coverage of it has supplemented my enjoyment of it immensely. This show just seems to end too soon!

ty so much for the coverage mj
now i can’t wait for so you think you can dance CANADA weeeeeeee the ads look freakin awesome for it

Every time I hear the Chris Brown song with “Dance Forever” (I can’t remember the name of it (one night?) and it was on the show last night)I think of SYTYCD and they play it ALL the time on my radio station. That was a fun routine, not my favorite, but it was one of the few with a song I’d hear on the radio around here other than No Air.

  • VlnGirl

I’ve been lurking all season. :) A big congrats to all the dancers! And a HUGE thanks to MJ!

  • KrazeeK120

I LOVED seeing the judges’ favorites again! All of the dances were great! And I was so glad that my 2 personal favorites (the Mark/Chelsie hip hop and the Mark/Courtney jazz) were chosen!

I thought Mary/Dmitry dancing together was creepy. Sorry. And I really could have done without Nigel. Oh, well.

Anyone else think it was shady of them to give Katee a prize and not Twitch? I think he deserves SOMETHING for being runner-up!

And congratulations to Joshua for his win!!!

“bleeding love was performed and filmed/shot so much better originally but of course it still goes down as my favorite performance that Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve seen on So You Think You Can Dance.”

I so agree. It just blew me away both times. I absolutely love Mark. I hope I get to see him in the future.

Except for the Jonas Brothers, that show was perfect! So enjoyable and so entertaining!! I would have been happy with Twitch winning, but I think “America got it right” by choosing Joshua. Thanks, MJ, for covering SYTYCD. I love it!!

This has been such a fun season! I have loved posting on here with all of you!

Although I would have loved Twitch to win, I honestly would have been happy with most of the top 10 winning. They all had different talents and proved it in their pairing. Josh, danced beautifully; No Air and Trepak were my favorites, with Bollywood following closely. He showed athleticism, grace, technique and emotion and with Katee, they had the best combined skills as a partnership.

I wish The Bed dance would have been chosen last night instead of the Twitch/Comfort dance. It was a good dance but the Bed was much more intense and memorable.

I am going to Pensacola to see SYTYCD on tour! My first time going to see the tour and I am pretty excited. Anyone else going to see them on tour?

  • SpenserJ

Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get my started on Randy or Pauler. Note sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not guest judging on SYTYCD.

The funny thing about that is that Paula would actually be qualified to judge this show – as opposed to AI. Still, I wouldn’t want her incoherent babbling on this show either.

Funny – I was watching the Jonas Bros. and also thinking – hey, it’s like new kids on the block with fake guitars. I think that’s why they almost endeared themselves to me.

  • MrsTrep

Ok, so that song is on again…. it’s been like two hours….

  • Allison

that finale was entertaining! I really didn’t care who won.
What’s with Sabra? She was conspicuously absent.

  • AInoob

In the The Best of So You Think You Can Dance routine, was everyone in this season’s top 10 there? They were moving so fast I couldn’t track all S4′s dancers (they’re the only ones I know so that’s why I was looking for them, lol) and I did manage to catch sight of a few of them (though the only one in the top 4 I spotted was Katee).

  • Joanna

Katee was given a new prizeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’$50,000 for being the Top Girl. I wonder if the eliminations were announced according to who polled the fewest votes? It was never announced that way. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m thinking that Katee was singled out earlier (Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m thinking she actually came in second) so she could have her own separate moment as Top Girl.

Not that it’s science, but Dialidol had Josh and Twitch fairly close (13.1 to 10.52 respectively), but there was a huge gap for Katee in 3rd (4.49) and then poor, underrated Courtney with 0.

Also, If Katee came in 3rd and got 50K, and Twitch came in 2nd but got nothing, that sucks pretty big. I certainly hope that’s not the case.

I’ve watched this show from the very beginning and I think this was my favorite season of all. I would have been happy with any of the top 4 but was secretly pulling for Joshua. I absolutely love Cat! If anyone remembers the first season they had another host and it was pretty bad. I even like the judges (unlike two of the three in Idol). I’ve gotten used to Mary’s scream and actually look forward to it. The rotating judge position brings in a new perspective even though there’s a couple of judges I would prefer not to see again. Mary and Nigel (to me, at least) offer up good critiques of the dancers.

Most of all this show has given me an appreciation of all forms of dance and has shown me the connection between the dance and emotions. As much as I like and watch Idol I don’t get the same feeling when I watch it.

  • AZIdolFan

MY GUY WON!!!!! AGAIN!!!!! I’m on a roll, 1st DC, then Joshua. Now if only i can pick the winner for project runway!

i loved the finale yesterday. it was fun watching it with my son & sister. My sister had never heard of the Jonas Brothers and said that Hanson were better. LOL

  • dbt

Thanks for covering SYTYCD MJ! It’s been a blast.

I love AI, but I think I actually like this show better. More focus on the dancers performing well, and not just about who’s marketable. The ‘jidges’ comments can actually be constructive, and Cat is awesome. And I’m also impressed with the skill of these dancers…and think their craft requires so much more work than some other talents. All in all .. it’s been great fun and I’m sad that it’s ending.

Loved the finale!! WOW. Was thrilled to see some of the best dances again … esp Bleeding Love with Mark/Chelsie. Made me realize all over again why I LOVE Mark. He’s an amazing dancer AND performer. I hope I see him again, somewhere.

Loved that Nigel and Mary got on the dance floor. Good sports!

Mary is an acquired taste, but I have grown to like her and her screams. I love her enthusiasm and can tell she’s really pulling for these kids.

It was a lot of fun seeing and hearing from dancers from previous seasons. Since the SYTYCD winner only wins $$$$, I’ve always wondered what they would do after the show.

All in all … a super finale. Lots of incredible talent, great show … and lots of fun having a place to discuss with my online friends.

Also, If Katee came in 3rd and got 50K, and Twitch came in 2nd but got nothing, that sucks pretty big. I certainly hope thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not the case.

I believe that is the case, and I agree it does kind of give Twitch the shaft. But, the one thing all of the top ten will get, that they’ve probably never had before, is a steady weekly paycheck while on the tour. That’s huge for a dancer and an opportunity that comes very few and far between.

Which reminds me that I was so happy to see that Sara from last season had landed a spot on Avril’s tour, and that she got to do some backup vocals. That must have been fabulous, and I do adore her. The more long-term contract gigs you can get like that definitely prolongs your career as a dancer.

My sister had never heard of the Jonas Brothers and said that Hanson were better. LOL

I’m going to have to agree with your sister. I’m pretty sure all three of the Hanson boys can actually carry a tune, and they all play real instruments.

I can’t admit to ever having any love for NKOTB, but I did heart me some Duran Duran back in the day! :-)

Congratulations to Sarah! I placed 12th in mjà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s pool and 1st in Rickeyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s! LOL! When I couldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t make up my mind between my choices, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d make different choices on each of the pools. Obviously I put the better guesses on Rickeyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s pool.

Thanks!!! Congrats to you too! I wondered if that was you in Rickey’s pool! The opposite was true for me. I was pretty sure that Josh would win, so I put my points on him at the beginning in MJ’s pool, but I wanted to do a different overall pick in Rickey’s pool, so I picked Chelsie. I changed to Joshua right before the show aired last night, so I did get 8 points for that, but I still placed like 18th lol. But I always made the same weekly choices on both pools. A couple weeks I got totally screwed, but for the most part I got most of the elimination points and I rarely missed a bonus question (whereas you almost couldn’t PAY me to get one right in the AI pool LOL). But some of these were ridiculously easy – like “will a male or female dancer be eliminated first?” Anyone who’s watched the show knows that the female dancer is always the first eliminated. lol.

I found this article on the finale and I read the part that says Joshua never danced with Debbie Allen, someone was trying to convince us he had so I just thought I would post this because I swear I never heard him say that and it is a nice little article.

Am I a little bored right now, uh, yeah – killing time. Twitch even was a back up dancer for Tina Turner at the Superbowl one year. I think we will be seeing a lot of him in the future.

If those links work, they are interviews with Joshua and Twitch — they both talk about exactly what training they had. Thought it was interesting.

Oh, and my nine year old daughter thought the Jonas Brothers were the highlight of the whole finale. She also loves Radio Disney, though.

Aww I miss the Redlasso videos… can’t view the Dailymotion ones here :(

    Congrats Joshua!

  • Grammie Kari

All I ask of Nigel is to be more truthful about the experience of the dancers. We can handle the truth! The manipulation isn’t needed to make this a terrific show.

that finale was entertaining! I really didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t care who won.
Whatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s with Sabra? She was conspicuously absent.

Since they were bringing back our favorites, you would think someone would at least mention her name. I found that quite odd.

To make it a better show next year, I wish their guest(s) would be a dancer or singer/dancer. Then again, maybe they wanted those 8-14 year-olds tuning in?

Now what do we watch? ;o)
