NO ELIMINATIONS THIS WEEK!!!!!!!! Two guys and two girls will go home next week!!!!! “I want to give America the chance to see you one more week,” says Nigel.  “I get my babies for one more week!” says Cat. – VIDEO

So…how far in advance was that little twist planned…hm? I have to agree, it would have been tough to send ANYBODY home tonight, this is such a talented group of dancers.  I think if the judges had sent a pair home, it would have been Miranda and Robert.

I have to say, that was some might good reality TV right there. Even if it was all scripted, it was pretty damn entertaining…It’s great that we get to see them dance again next week.

Of course, the whole Mitchell injury dilemma may have influenced Nigel’s decision.  Easier just to keep everyone, than to decide between a dancer who danced, and one who didn’t.

I’ll be live blogging the So You Think You Can Dance 8 Top 20 results RIGHT HERE.

Group number: “XR2″ by M.I.A. – Choreographed by Sonya Tayeh – That rocked. – VIDEO

The judges deliberate!

Ohh. We see Lady Gaga making her debut, Season 4 with “Just Dance”. Nobody knew who the f*ck she was back then! She’s so grateful, she’s agreed to guest judge later in the season.

Here is the “Edge of Glory” Video premiere! Aw. There’s Clarence. I’m sad. That wasn’t the entire video. Boo. Cheated! – VIDEO

WHO IS GOING HOME! Nigel mentions Clarence’s stroke. Send positive thoughts for his recovery says Nigel. Oh CRAZY. Nigel wants two of the boys to dance again!

Mitchell and Robert will dance again! Asking dancers to perform again is UNPRECEDENTED!

The ladies take the stage. Jordan “You an absolutely superb, strong, beautiful, one of the best we’ve seen. A shame you are in the b3. Clarice: You have got a smile that would melt an ice cube. Pleased because I get to watch you dance. Miranda: Your elevation is remarkable. It’s so difficult to figure out which one to lose.

Nigel asks the guys to come out. The 7 are lined up. Jessie You are magnificence. Tadd you are really creative. Robert, you have something that will keep you around for a long time…

…We’ve never done this before. NOBODY IS GOING HOME!!! 2 couples will be eliminated next week.

Surprised a little by Tadd and Jordan. Not so much by Clarice and Jess.

  • phildog716

That doesn’t bode well for Jess and Clarice, considering the praise heaped on them last evening. That’s disappointing.

  • OnePlusSix

I’m at a point now that when I see these group routines, I would also like the choreographer(s) actually dance with them (let’s see what they have). I think it would add to the performance along with a fabulous experience for the contestants and viewers.

  • St.Lucia

It’s funny because when I signed up for the pool I put points on quite a few contestants because I just didn’t know for tonight, and I put some points on at least 3 of the bottom 4 so far. I just couldn’t remember any of them.

    LOVED the group number.

I’m ready to see Gaga’s new video too. I love that dang song. :)

  • sweetmm

Surprised Jordan did not pulled in the votes. Jess reminds me of Billy Bell, great dancer but could not pull in the votes.

  • HermeticallySealed

    Yes!

  • Mel1

Isn’t Jess the short Broadway dancer?

  • bandanajack

so annoyed that jess is undeservedly in the bottom three, tanked by high negatives. the armchair mavens have tagged him arrogant, as have the tweens, when all he is is a short, highly talented boy from new jersey. and if you’ve ever known a jersey boy, they all have attitude, and short guys are prone to compensating, its called a napoleon complex for a reason. i was on twitter yesterday and today and saw : i don’t like him, he is arrogant ” too many times.

  • bandanajack

without malice, i hope the injured boy goes.

  • sweetmm

i was on twitter yesterday and today and saw : i don’t like him, he is arrogant ” too many times.

Blame it on Nigel; he started it!!!

  • Mel1

I never saw Jess as arrogant. Did he say something that I missed?

  • phildog716

Not impressed by Robert or his Hulk Hogan outfit.

  • HermeticallySealed

Did Gaga blow her video budget on Judas and Born this Way, cause this pretty much blows.

  • Lucy1234

Little disappointed in Gaga’s video but didn’t see the whole thing but doesn’t really matter cause I LOVE LOVE the song Edge of Glory – one of Gaga’s best songs IMO.

  • phildog716

I thought for sure that Robert and Miranda were gone…wow!

  • Lucy1234

Nobody goes home so on to next week. booo

  • OnePlusSix

Seen it coming and, for some strange reason, I’m glad. I would rather have the first week with no elimination to give the viewers a better opportunity to get to know the dancers, their abilities, their chemistry and their personalities.

  • bentley1530

Hm, this can have unexpected consequences next week as we know from AI. On the other hand, it was a strong opening week and no on really deserved to go.

  • Pam

I thought for sure that Robert and Miranda were gone…wow!

That’s what I thought too. The only bad thing about this is that the judges have just possibly prolonged the inevitable especially if those two end up there again next week plus with one additional couple leaving as well.

  • Mel1

Is it fair for a couple to leave if one is better (or worse) than the other?

  • OnePlusSix

Did Gaga blow her video budget on Judas and Born this Way, cause this pretty much blows.

There is a plus to this video being more low-key. Gaga is already riding a high with her fans and the music industry so why be extravagant. This way when her next over-the-top video hits the scene there will be a HUGE buzz once again. Smart strategy, if you think about it. It’s all how you play the game, especially if you’re looking for that longevity.

  • St.Lucia

I kinda hate when they do that, it always sucks worse the next week.

It is a great group and the elimination would have been difficult no matter what, but let’s not drag it out.

  • OnePlusSix

Is it fair for a couple to leave if one is better (or worse) than the other?

The couple persay doesn’t get eliminated, that’s why they each dance for their life individually. Then the judges choose one male and one female.

It is not really a couple that leaves, it just has to be one girl and one boy and usually out of the three couples it is clear who should go.

  • OnePlusSix

It is a great group and the elimination would have been difficult no matter what, but let’s not drag it out.

I don’t look at it as dragging it out. Often the very ones that may have been given the boot could easily redeem themself the following week, especially with the on-start of the show. It’s really immaterial because the way I see it, I get to see all of them with another routine. Bring it on, let’s dance!

  • Miss Blue

I knew this would happen. Nigel wants to keep Mitchell and it would have been so unfair to keep him and eliminate someone who actually danced last night.

  • Buffynut

I knew this would happen. Nigel wants to keep Mitchell and it would have been so unfair to keep him and eliminate someone who actually danced last night

I think this is exactly why they did it. Does anyone know, since no one was eliminated will they switch partners next week or keep the same ones?

  • bentley1530

Same partners next week and unless your partner is eliminated.

On another note: the Lady Gaga video is very boring which I guess is her attempt to do something completely different from her recent videos.

  • Bowie1

So what happens now….do the couples stay the same for next week and dance to different music and do different routines?

Oh! I see my question was answered right above my post.

  • St.Lucia

I knew this would happen. Nigel wants to keep Mitchell and it would have been so unfair to keep him and eliminate someone who actually danced last night.

Kinda what I thought too. Every time there isn’t an elimination on a show I always think there is some hidden agenda that I’m not seeing. I’m probably making something of out of nothing with things, but that’s just the way my brain thinks. :) r I’ve just been subjected to reality show manipulation far too often.

  • St.Lucia

And I agree with the Gaga video kinda being boring. I understand what she was doing, but just watching her dance all over the place was not thrilling. It needed SOMETHING. I can’t say I’ve loved any of the videos she’s released from her new album though.

  • argie

Instead of that random dude (although I know he’s a professional) doing the Gopak dance… it would’ve been cooler if they had invited the Ukranian dancer, Jeffrey Mortensen, from SYTYCD Canada… his Gopak dances were a bit more exciting.

I dunno if I’m on a Season 8 high or what, but I thought those were the best “Dance for your lives” I’ve ever seen on the American SYTYCD show. I’m pretty sure though that Nigel and Co. planned on keeping everyone all along ‘cuz they probably figured it would be unfair to Mitchell (especially since it seems like they want to keep him)… sheesh… don’t blame poor Megan Mullaley!!

  • Pam

I knew this would happen. Nigel wants to keep Mitchell and it would have been so unfair to keep him and eliminate someone who actually danced last night.

That’s what I thought too. The stalling was nothing more than drama. I think they already had their minds made up as far as Mitchell was concerned. If he was able to dance tonight, then he would stay. If he was unable to perform, then he would have been automatically eliminated with one of the 3 girls in question.

With all the stalling they were doing, I figured something was up.

  • Buffynut

Damn, I was hoping Sasha would get a new partner next week. :(

  • Grammie Kari

We all know how much Nigel loves drama. Was Cat in on all of this, or was she geniunely shocked?

I agree that the Lady Gaga video left something to be desired. The repetitive pattern just didn’t make sense.

I enjoyed the Gopak dancer; I am not familiar with Jeffrey Mortensen.

  • bandanajack

i agree with argie, i immediately thought of jeff’s solos whiich blew ballet guy out of the water. and sweetmm is right and i DO blame nigel and/or the production crew for “casting” him as arrogant in the cutting. and trust me, there was a lot of twitter /facebook negativity about jess. all from people who knew nothing about dance, but knew what they liked. cute and humble.

  • eyin

I’m surprised Jordan and Tadd hit bottom. I would’ve thought Chris and Ashley would be there. I think Miranda would have gotten the boot for sure, but Nigel couldn’t send any of the guys home so he just kept them all.

Wtf was that Gaga video? Just her and a fake building?? Bleh.

  • cjinsd

I woulda sent Robert and Jordan home. I liked Miranda’s solo better.

  • Dlynne

I was afraid that Jordan and Tadd might be in the bottom because they danced first. Hopefully, they’ll do better next week because Jordan is one my favorites.

I’m glad we get another week to watch them all. I really didn’t want any of them to go, so I’m happy!

  • hcpoirot

Basically its easy, none of the cannon fodder in the bottom 3 (SUPRISE!) If Ashley & Chris in the bottom 3, I bet both of them will be going home tonight.

And please NIgel don’t say you never do this on SYTYCD. Last season they also did that by not eliminating anyone and 2 dancers next week.

  • hcpoirot

Too many big personalities and judges fav in bottom 3 so they decide not to eliminating anyone. Next week they are hoping the cannon fodder will be in the bottom 3.

I bet the cannon fodder dancers will get luke warm choreo and luke warm or even bad comment from the judges next week.

  • talldrink

glad this happened!!i was worried miranda would be booted.

  • Steelers36

hcpoirot says: And please NIgel don’t say you never do this on SYTYCD. Last season they also did that by not eliminating anyone and 2 dancers next week.

I believe all he meant was that he had not bypassed an elimination on the first night.

  • Steelers36

some people, perhaps including MJ in her intro remarks, seem to be assuming that a couple is eliminated. Not necessarily. The guy(s) and girl(s) eliminated can come from different couples and then the survivors pair up.

had there been an elimination last night, I was not expecting a paired couple to be the bootees.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

some people, perhaps including MJ in her intro remarks,

Sorry, I worded that badly. I know that a guy and a girl go home…not necessarily from the same couple.

I was not expecting a paired couple to be the bootees.

    I was.

  • Steelers36

MJ – I figured you knew that for sure but it seemed to confuse some. NBD. Interesting idea because I was thinking another way – but it was sure hard to identify someone. I think it is good they all get a second performance with a different choreographer and dance style.

However, suppose we get a different bunch in the B3 next week? Does it seem fair for the judges to have to send 4 home from that group and none from the B3 of this week? I know, not that likely to happen, but you never know.
