Smash Previews: Katharine McPhee Covers Death Cab for Cutie

Smash airs its fifth episode tonight, titled, “The Read Through”. In it, Julia’s (Debra Messing) fears increase when Tom (Christian Borle) airs his suspicions of Peter (guest star Daniel Sunjata). Jimmy (Jeremy Jordan) and Kyle (Andy Mientus) confront their own crisis of confidence as “Hit List” is read for the first time. Meanwhile, Ivy (Megan Hilty) realizes her triumph might not be all she hoped when she meets her new co-star, Terry Falls (guest star Sean Hayes), and Karen (Katharine McPhee) wonders if she can trust Jimmy. Nikki Blonsky also guest stars.

    So Jen Hud is no longer with the show?  I thought her character’s story could have had more depth….because she was an aging Broadway star who was still treated like a youngish girl and wanted to grow out of it.  I’m not keen on Kat McPhee being the focus of the show.  I’ll try to watch, but it seems to be going off the rails.
