Smash – The Transfer – Discussion Post

Did you watch smash tonight? Here’s your discussion post.

Tonight’s episode is titled “The Transfer”. With his sights set on the Tony, Tom (Christian Borle) pulls out all the stops at a Houston & Levitt tribute night, but can Julia (Debra Messing) turn away from “Hit List” long enough to help? Ivy (Megan Hilty) is afraid of damaging her reputation when Tom asks her to perform a risqué number. The cast of “Hit List” is rocked by a betrayal close to home.

I can’t believe that as little as a week ago I was still shipping for Cartwills. Derek really only thinks with his dick. He sleeps with the girl who was threatening him with a lawsuit, believes that she’s forgiven him, and then promises her a part in Hit List — all while he’s sleeping with Ivy and pursuing Karen. And then he deludes himself that Anna would take her demotion/firing “lying down”? That he wouldn’t get hit with a lawsuit from Anna if he gave her role to the girl who was blackmailing him. One way or another, the scandal was gonna come out. Congratulations, writers, you finally made Jimmy look good by comparison.

    R.I.P., Smash.

Derek didn’t just turn into a jerk. He’s been one all along.

I’m going to miss Smash. I do feel it will live on with a cult following. Mainly cause the musical performances are really good. I’ve found myself purchasing far more SMASH tracks than I ever did from Idol or Voice. Quality production and talent. Great voices I’d never heard before Smash, like Megan Hilty, Jeremy Jordan, Christian Borle, and now Debra Messing.

My iTunes will miss Smash, but I’m hopeful the finale will make up for it. You know it will end with some drama at the Tony’s. I’m going with Hit List and Derek winning best Director and Ivy storming the stage causing Jimmy to propose to Karen while Tom convinces Leo to lock Julia in the basement with Ana to finish the crucial scene. All in Kyle’s memory.
